Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Face Sunscreen SPF 60 with Helioplex

I did a lot of research on sunscreen ingredients before settling on this one. I like that this is broad spectrum (blocks uva and uvb rays). Without getting into too much detail, the 'helioplex' is the name neutrogena gave for their formula for stabilizing avobezone and oxybenzone in sunlight (these are the active ingredients that absorb the uv rays) The way this product reacted to my skin was a little odd... if I applied the product too thickly, instead of absorbing over time, like most creams, it would sit on my skin and dry to a white and flaky substance. Anything that did absorb would start to flake if I rubbed my skin. So the my solution to this weird absorption reaction was to add my moisturizer on top. I have heard conflicting opinions on whether moisturizer or sunscreen should go on first from my doctor, from the 'expert' at the makeup counter, from 'experts' on the internet. My conclusion is to just do what works for you.

Moisturizers -Ole Henriksen - Vitamin Plus Balancing Cream
rated 5 of 5

I really like this product. I love that it is very light and absorbs fast. It has a lot of vitamins that have antioxidant properties and the aloe vera makes it feel cooling when applied. I found that it looked a bit dewy when first applied but becomes matte after about 15 minutes, give or take. This product did not make me break out.

Lips -Nivea - Essential Care

This is, hands down, the best lip balm I have ever tried. It glides on smooth and it is thick and moisture-rich and works immediately.

Treatments -Arbonne - NutriminC RE9 REversing Gelee Transforming Lift

Note, before I express my comments, that I am not exclusively using products from this line and therefore, my unsatisfactory reaction to this product might be from chemically uncomplimentary ingredients from using 2 different brands. I used this product for about 12 days or so. First it gave me a strange, wax-like texture to my face and then a couple days later, my skin became dry and flaky... I do not recommend this product. I do like that the pump gave the right amount of product to spread on my face though I felt it should have been shorter since the height to base-area ratio made it unstable and could be easily knocked over.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter - Candy Apple
rated 5 of 5

I love this lip butter! It is very moisturizing and feels like a lip balm with pigment. The colour gives just a hint of coral to the natural shade of my lips and I would definitely repurchase. Side note, I like that the cap is a box rather than a cylinder so there is no rolling when I put it down.

Foundations -Elizabeth Arden - Intervene
rated 4 of 5
flyingwind66 9/20/2012 11:05:00 AM

I was looking for a foundation that would have medium to full coverage and had sunscreen (since I am so very bad at remembering to apply sunscreen) I found this to be a very good foundation for me and matched my skintone rather well. In the summer months though, it seemed to be a tad too pink and I would have to remember to blend it down so it would match me better. I found it lighter than the mac foundation I tried (though I do not remember which one that was... it was a liquid and the girl gave me the wrong undertone) This foundation did not dry out my skin or make me oily or break out.

Treatments -Neutrogena - T/Gel

I had uncontrollable dandruff and after using this for about 10 days it's all gone! I did find that if I did not continue to use it at least twice a week that my dandruff would come back. This stuff burned a bit on any high dandruff patches, it felt like the prescription treatment rub my doctor gave me. The smell is absolutely horrid though I put up with it since it's the only shampoo that has ever gotten rid of my dandruff.

Toners -Aveda - Green Science Replenishing Toner
rated 3 of 5
flyingwind66 8/2/2012 12:36:00 PM

This toner comes in a bottle with a big wide opening. I did not like that I had to pour the toner out of the bottle and it would spill all over the place and lose all the product if I knocked it over. The consistency is more milky and viscous than most toners I have tried and I do not know if I would consider this a plus or a minus. There is no need to use a cotton pad but then you have to spill it all over your fingers to apply it. I did not notice much if any difference in my skin quality before or after trying out the Green Science line (I purchased the cleanser, toner, eye cream and face serum) so I would consider this investment too expensive for the results.

Cleansers -Aveda - Green Science Perfecting Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
flyingwind66 8/2/2012 12:26:00 PM

This product comes in a very convenient pump bottle. I purchased the toner, eye cream and face serum that were all part of the line to get the best idea of how this product would work. The cleanser itself did not seem to give me any changes for better or worse on my skin. I would assume that it worked decent as my skin was keeping a satisfactory hydration level and I did not break out. From personal experience, I do not care for cleansing milks because they tend to be messy. Overall I found this product to be too expensive for the results I experienced.

Cleansers -The Body Shop - Nutriganics Foaming Facial Wash
rated 2 of 5
flyingwind66 8/2/2012 12:17:00 PM

The Body Shop Nutriganics cleanser came in a pump bottle which is an innovation I think more cleansers should adopt. I find pumps much more hassle-free than having to put a cap back onto a bottle/tube with product in one hand. The cleanser also foams when you pump it so there is no need to add water to lather it. I used this product for about 2 weeks. It was not drying or oily and I think it did a decent job of cleansing. Since I always use a makeup remover before cleansing and because I did not wear much make up during the time I was trying this cleanser, I cannot attest to it's ability to remove makeup. Unfortunately, this cleanser was giving me an unwanted skin reaction. I acquired rough patches on my skin that did not feel like peeling or flaking, they may have been whiteheads though I am unsure. The strange reaction subsided once I stopped using the Nutriganics cleanser and switched to another one (trying some samples of the Dior purifying foaming cleanser now)
