Eyes -LORAC - On Screen Duo

I got this in all three colors - for $2 each, the price was right. As others have said, the tiny dot of hilighter shadow is lovely, and I actually like the cream eyeliners. I'm spoiled that I have grown accustomed to budgeproof silicone based liners like MAC's Fluidline, but for an oil based liner, this has good density and lasting power. It's great for a fine line near the lash line, and the black is a versatile color that you can build up or leave muted for a natural look. Not bad, but not up to the standard of contemporary gel liners.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Illuminance Cream Shadows in Electric Pop
flowerpuppy 6/16/2011 9:51:00 AM
I think I've been spoiled by other cream shadows that dry down to a budgeproof finish. These never dry, they just remain as slightly greasy creams, which is fine if you just want a subtle wash of color, or for use as a base, but they can't really be used as shadows or liners without an intense primer. That said, the colors are great - the navy is deep and vibrant, the green is surprisingly flattering, and the white is actually a sheer iridescent glitter, similar to Bobby Brown's metallic cream shadows. The packaging is lovely, with a nice little mirror that lets you see both eyes. I got the set on clearance, and it's a fun treat, but for the retail price of $8 I would expect much better lasting power.

Eye Shadow -Yves Saint Laurent - Ombres 5 Lumieres - 5 Riviera

I really bought this set for the matte ultramarine color, and I wasn't disappointed. Used as a liner, it makes my dark eyes pop. It's extremely hard to find a matte ultramarine shadow with good color saturation, but this one delivers. The matte turquoise is also extremely beautiful, and the shimmers are lovely, but generally too cool for my olive complexion. And call me crazy, but I really like the little applicators that come with these. I usually use the ultramarine with a liner brush, but the fine tipped sponge applicator gives nice color payoff, and is easy to use for a bold 60s style eye.

Mascara -Revlon - Fabulash Waterproof
flowerpuppy 6/13/2011 10:28:00 AM
I think I need a lash comb for this, because the tube I got is somewhat dry and crumbly, and after the second coat is prone to leaving little clumps of mascara at the tip. BUT ITS SO WORTH IT! This formula gives me the most lush, velvety Elizabeth Taylor lashes. I've never seen anything like it. Dense, matte, and ultra black (even though the color I got is just "black", it seems blacker than most when applied), this is my new favorite mascara. If the application were effortless, it would get five stars.

Eyeliner -E.L.F. - Cream Eyeliner - Midnight
flowerpuppy 5/24/2011 10:57:00 PM
The color is a beautiful ultramarine tinted off-black - and it's completely matte, a gorgeous color for lining dark lashes. Unfortunately, the formula is rather clumpy, and it takes at least two passes to get good color saturation, and even then, it starts to flake off. My guess is that this is a technical issue with the pigments used - ultramarines yield stunning colors but poor opacity. For $3, it's not terrible, but the Physician's Formula cobalt blue liner, and MAC fluidline in waveline offer bluer versions of this liner with better pigmentation and opacity.

Liquid -Rimmel - Stay Matte Foundation
flowerpuppy 5/21/2011 1:51:00 PM
I got this on sale at Walgreens, and it is one of the best foundations (including high end) I have ever used. It's very hard to find colors that match my olive complexion, especially at the drugstore, but 200 is dead on for me - not too pink, not too orange. The consistency is light and pleasant, and offers medium coverage which feels just right in summer. Revlon ColorStay, my other new favorite, offers more coverage, but this is lighter, and I prefer the tube packaging.

Lipstick -Revlon - stormy pink
flowerpuppy 5/21/2011 1:44:00 PM
This is my new favorite lipstick - it gets place of honor in my purse. The formula is a lovely glowing matte that is very natural and non-drying. The color is sheer - half way between my-lips-but-better and the bright neon pinks that have been on the runway these past few seasons, and it's just the right bright bluish pink for my olive complexion. The sheerness makes it quite wearable, and effortless to apply. The subtle pop of color lights up my face, and the finish is quite chic. I feel like a French gamine whenever I wear it.

Eye Shadow -Black Radiance - Sunrise/Sunset
flowerpuppy 4/12/2011 10:32:00 PM
This is actually a review of the Black Radiance Shadow Duos in Island/Oasis and Rhythm/Blues. Cute packaging with little mirrors. The colors in Rhythm/Blues are gorgeous! The silver-blue leans very slightly taupe and looks great on my NC35ish skin. The shadows are very soft and creamy. There's a slight amount of pilling, but they are rich and pigmented. To the best of my knowledge, BR is made by the same company as Wet and Wild, and I was thinking that the new BR shadows may be even better than WnW. Here's the rub: The ingredient list is under the plastic seal so that you can only read it AFTER you've purchased the item. Isostearyl Palmitate, Zinc Stearate, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Talc, Polyethylene, Octyldodecyl Hydroxysterate, Silica, Mineral Oil, Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, LANOLIN ALCOHOL, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Tin Oxide And I'm allergic to lanolin! Not to mention that that's a lot of parabens, but I'm more upset that I just smeared something I'm allergic to ALL OVER MY EYES!

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lipstick
flowerpuppy 3/9/2011 2:04:00 PM
This is a fantastic drugstore lipstick! I even like it better than MAC. It has the smooth creamy opaque coverage in the newer delux lipsticks, but without lanolin, an ingredient I'm allergic to, which turns up in many MAC lipsticks. The colors are soft and natural, and the finish is a lovely subdued satin that's not too glossy or matte. The staying power is pretty good for a normal lipstick, and there is only a very slight but pleasant, vaguely sweet scent. I hope they come out with more colors.

Liquid -Clinique - Almost Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
flowerpuppy 3/9/2011 1:57:00 PM
Wow, I am powerfully allergic to this! I can't figure out what the offending ingredient is - my skin loves most silicone based products. When I put this on my face, I broke out in large itchy hives within one hour. I've also developed an allergy t lanolin, so just to make sure I wasn't responding to someting else - say, a lipstick, I swatched some Almost Makeup on my arm. Within 5 seconds my whole arm was covered in raised gooseflesh. The color was nice, but it had to go in the trash.
