Eye Shadow -MAC - Mineralize Eyeshadow in Blue Flame
fletch50 9/24/2009 9:30:00 PM
This shadow is from the new Style Black collection. It is so gorgeous. It is a black mineralize shadow base that is packed with fine blue sparkles. When used dry it sheers out fairly well, with some of the blue sparkles still visible. It's really awesome when used wet. Very intense and sparkly. I find like all the mineralize e/s this has great staying power. I also got Gilt By Association (black w/ gold) and I want to go back and get the purple one!
This is the blue color that UD has put out in it's Ink for Eyes eyeliner. Overall, I was very disappointed. In the package it is a gorgeous deep, dark blue. When applied it doesn't have even close to the same pigment, even when applied in multiple layers. Despite the lack of pigment, I did find that it didn't smudge or fade. I don't think I will repurchase.
Overall, I was really disappointed by this and I had really high hopes for it. While I like the applicator and the packaging, the product itself isn't up to UD's standards. I found the color wasn't intense at all. I had to put on a few layers to get a dark black. It lasted pretty much the whole day though, with minimal smudging. I don't think I will be repurchasing.
I have been dying to try this mascara since seeing it in the November Allure. I finally saw it this past weekend at Shoppers Drug Mart so I grabbed one. The mascara itself does a good job lengthening. However, I find it a tad bit wet for my preference. It definitely stayed on (even through a Bikrams Yoga class!). I didn't have the problems getting it off that others had mentioned. I used my normal facial cleanser and kind of brushed my lashes upwards as I was washing my face. I was curious, so I took a look after doing that and sure enough there were little black squiggly things on my fingers. :) My major complaint is the price. It is waaaaay too exspensive for L'Oreal. It was around $16 Cdn. More expensive than MAC! Overall, I liked it, but it definitely won't replace my Diorshow!
Eye Shadow -Stila - Silk Eye Shadow Wash in Kitten
fletch50 5/3/2008 2:37:00 PM
I actually liked this product, although I can't say it is something truly special. Like the other reviewers said, it goes on quite sheer and just leaves a hint of champagne shimmer. If you want a really sublte look then it is really great on it's own. I also tried it layering the Kitten powder e/s over top and it gave a really intense color. I used UDPP as a base and I had no problems with creasing. It isn't a bad product, but I don't feel it is special enough for me to repurchase.
I ordered this from Sephora with really high hopes. I ususally love everything Stila. I found this gloss to have a really thin consistency and to be kind of runny. It looked really nice for the minute that it actually stayed on! It barely lasted and I had to keep reapplying constantly (and I wasn't even eating or drinking anything!). Unfortunately I really can't recommend this product. If you want a super shimmery gloss like this, then I recommend MAC Dazzleglass over Stila.
Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Loose Pigment in Asphyxia
fletch50 2/23/2008 9:38:00 PM
I really, really like this new product from Urban Decay. The color is definitely pinker than the Asphyxia eyeshadow. It reminds me very much of MAC Pink Pearl pigment, a cool bright pink with a slight bluish tint. I like the product container, as it is definitely less messier than MAC Pigments. It comes in a screw top container with the brush attached to the lid, and it seems virtually spill proof. I am now wanting to get all the other colors that this comes in!
Lipstick -L'Oreal - Color Riche Star Secret Aishwarya Beige
fletch50 8/10/2006 12:40:00 AM
I got this in a CP from an awesome MUAer over in Europe. This is a definite YLBB shade on me (I'm a MAC NC20), and I actually think it would suit a wide variety of skin tones. I actually prefer this over MAC Hug Me (I think the first reviewer has a comparison pic). The texture is really nice, and so is the packaging. It is in a black and gold tube, with Aishwarya's signature in gold on the front. The only downsides are the smell (I'm not a big fan of the smell of L'Oreal l/s) and the price. With the conversion it would cost about the same as a MAC l/s here in Canada. Overall though I definitely recommend checking it out if you can find it. I will be getting backups if I can get my hands on more.
Mascara -L'Oreal - Volume Shocking Mascara [DISCONTINUED]
fletch50 10/16/2005 6:30:00 PM
I depsarately wanted to try this and actually had a CP done while it was still only available in the UK. I would never, ever buy this stuff again! The primer end is okay. It is a basic silvery white primer. The mascara end, is another story. The mascara is soooo wet, it made all the curl come out of my lashes. The comb applicator dispenses so much product, I looked like I had three eyelashes in total! I see this is now available in North America, but I won't be repurchasing!
Of the five new e/s, so far I have only been able to get my hands on this one, and I love it!!! Mary Jane is a metallic medium grey-blue. I say grey-blue, b/c in my opinion it actually has a silver tone to it. It has the same great texture and blendability as the other UD e/s. The colour is quite vibrant, but it is definietly wearable as a lid colour. I would definitely repurchase this one, and I can't wait to try the other new colors!
Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Trio in Ashpalt
fletch50 7/18/2004 7:02:00 PM
I was able to pick this trio up on Ebay. Ashpalt contains a white, medium gray and a charcoal color. All three shades are matte. They have a great silky texture and are easy to blend. I really can't comment on the price, because I have no idea what the retail price will be. I highly reccomend any fans of UD's eyeshadows to check these out. They are awesome!
These haven't been released yet, but I was lucky enough to win this one, along with Ashpalt, on Ebay. The trios are in silver packaging that is the same as the blush. Haze contains a whitish-lilac, a lilac and a dark purple (actually kind of a plum color). All of these shades are matte. The shadows have a gorgeous texture and are soft and easy to blend. I really can't comment on the price, because I have no idea what the retail price will be. I highly reccomend any fans of UD's eyeshadows to check these out. They are awesome!
Lip Gloss -Quo - Canadian Kisses Gloss in Brazen Beauty
fletch50 6/23/2004 6:19:00 PM
Quo has re-released 6 of last year's best selling Canadian Kisses lipstick's as glosses. This is the gloss version of last year's Canadian Kisses Lipstick in BC Brazen Beauty. It is a light pink infused with gold. When I compare the l/s to the gloss, I actually find the l/s to be a bit more pink. The gloss is very sheer and leaves a slight gold shimmer. I actually find the color to be a very close match to Nars l/s in Galaxy Girl. The gloss has a great smooth texture and it isn't too sticky. Quo has re-released 6 of last year's best selling Canadian Kisses lipstick's as glosses.
Eye Shadow -MAC - Riviera Rose - Tantress Collection
fletch50 6/19/2004 7:56:00 PM
I wasn't that interested in this shadow, having only heard descriptions. However, when I saw it in person, I had to have it. It is a great magenta with shimmer that really makes my green eyes pop! I highly recommend checking this one out!
This is a great shimmery light gold. I am a PPP and I have used it as both a lid color and a brow bone highlighter. It is a basic colour that I would repurcase again and again.
