Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Erase paste

i have under eye dark (not bad) areas , but the issue is this purple vein that shows under one eye. every drug store concealer i've tried failed miserably to help this type of issue. bobbi brown corrector failed also. my solution... i now use ..in this order... serum +moisturizer +stay don't stray +erase paste only on the purple area and dark areas+Bobbi Brown's Concealer over top of everything under the eye and up to my lash line. i carefully pat this on top. the result (finally) is NO dark/purple areas +brightened under eye areas. YEAH! ...just my experience with certain personal requirements.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Corrector

update: i have not purchased any Bobbi Brown products again. the products tended to dry. also, on the days when i really need to depend on a concealer (tired eyes etc) i felt like it completely failed! (corrector and concealer). if a concealer really works, it won't fail on the most needed days...esp for the money spent. off to try even more brands... earlier review: had to most wonderful/expert guy at Nordstrom help me w/this. he nailed my corrector and concealer colors. i am content with the concealer, but the corrector just flat out does NOT work on me. i have under eye dark (not bad) areas , but the issue is this purple vein that shows under one eye. the BobbiBrown combo did improve the overall look by brightening under my eyes, but the problems were still very visible. ...just my experience with certain personal requirements.

purpose for me buying: quest to conceal under eye circles & this purple vein (EW!) under one eye. I wanted to try either Erase Paste or the kit Confessions of a Concealoholic. The Benefit girl put StayDon'tStray on me under Erase Paste--and for the FIRST time, my under eye issues were gone! i like that StayDon'tStray has additional color in it (hides more!) ME: very dry skin so... PROS of SDS: if put on correctly, it helps concealer and eye shadow LAST all day with perfection (yeah!) CONS: 1) dispenses way too much. i didn't want to use it on my eyes, but do b/c so much comes out that i don't want to toss. (prefer MAC painterly). 2) if i don't moisturize WELL ( very dry skin ) meaning serum then moisturizing cream &/or eye cream before SDS and Erase Paste it WILL crease and show fine lines i've never seen before. :( OVERALL: fix the dispenser &i'll rebuy...'cos bottom line... SDS +erase paste=no under eye uglies all day! [can't imagine using just SDS as the only concealer... wouldn't work for me]

i love this serum. i've noticed a dramatic difference in the look and feel of my skin. the fine lines on my forehead have been dramatically reduced. my skin was very dry and lacking any type of skin care routine. i'd never felt the need for any routine since my skin had few issues...until the fist signs of aging emerged and ignighted me to do a makeup and skincare overhaul :) i tried Lancome's samples for Galatee, Genefique etc and LOVEd them, but decided to give less expensive options a try first. glad i did. i use the serum after using Neutorgena's deep cleam cream cleanser. soooft skin!

if it doesn't do all it's supposed to, i'm giving it a 1 b/c i've wated my money. pros: deep black color CONS: slightly clumpy,reminds me of spider lashes if not careful, harder to apply than other mascaras, but mostly just doesn't do anything other than add color. BLEK :P

Mascara -Almay - One Coat Mascara (lengthening)

i'm surprised i like this so much. for a drug store brand, it's one of the BEST i've tried (cover girl, L'oreal, maybelline, etc--all stink for me) It does what it says--lengthens and is waterproof. it goes on easily and stays on until you take it off. for $5.99--can't beat it. That said, i am looking for my HG mascara and this is not 100% what i want--i want thick lashes AND volume. sooo, while i recommended and bought this for my daughter, i am going to try Dior and others for me (fyi, i don't like Neutrogena or any MAC mascaras either....) update 9/2012. haven't bought Almay for myself again, but still buy it for my daughter. tried Dior...loved it but it dried out insanely fast [around 2 mo max] making it a horrible buy. tried a new-out mary kay mascara that was horrible...as w/many of their products. i keep trying them b/c someone close to me sells them. Also tried fiber lash by? and million lash by ? -drug store buys- and they were only fair. ugh]

NO. save your money. PROS: colors are pretty, goes on smoothly when the tip doesn't bend or break off. CONS: runs and smudges quickly, doesn't last, product is too soft & pencil tip bends or flops wasting product,doesn't sharpen well. complete junk!

Eye Shadow -Mary Kay - Cinnabar

i'm happy with the three mineral shadows i've purchased from Mary Kay. (Cinnabar, Amber Blaze, and Sweet Plum ) PROS: colors are great; price is so cheap, goes on easily, blends nicely, seems to stay put for several hours. i usually extend this time by sometimes (as needed) using Mac's painterly paint pot underneath(this makes it last untl i take it off) cons: well, other than MANY drug store brands(all drug store eyeshadows i've tried STINK), i'm only able to compare this to Clinique (MK lasts longer) shadows and MAC (can't beat Mac eyeshadows and pigments--for colors, variety, and long lasting!) I haven't tried Nars, but its next on my list... I will buy these again and use my makeup money on other fun items :)

believe the reviews. it works well. i use it under Mac or Mary Kay shadows and they last all day. i've heard "soft ocre" works just as well, and is a better color for some ppl. so i may try that next.

Eyeliner -Clinique - Quickliner for Eyes

not sure why this is getting great reviews. i LOVE the brown/black color of my quickliner. it's rich and goes on smoothly. why 1 lippie? it does NOT LAST more than maybe 4 hrs (1/2 a work day) and smudges some (not horribly) . if i want eyeliner to not last...i'll buy cover girl or something cheaper. i moved on to MAC's Black Track and it lasts all day! (mac's kohl eyeliner stinks though...fyi)

Liquid -MAC - Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation

Hmmm. This is my current foundation-NW25. I'm on a major "makeup overhaul" or quest to find all of my HGs. I guess age set in and my easy-to-maintain skin is showing sun damage and age...and that woke me up. Since i'm doing everything differently (skin care rountine now etc) things are greatly improving skin/face/wrinkles wise, but i don't know where to give the credit. Mac: i only like putting this foundation on immediately after using moisturizer. otherwise, it's hard to spread evenly. this method works well, so i'm content. I use the Mac medium plus loose powder/foundation over it. so, pros:1)lasts 2) evens out my skin, but i don't have many issues 3)does NOT settle into fine lines-shew! cons: it's not what i'd consider "dewy" and lacks the "glow" i want. i asked a MAC consultant and she recommended adding this (forgot name) shimmer pressed powder (skinfinish?) on top. more layers.... fine, whatever. so that is next on my long list of things to buy. (asked her advice after a big purchase, not before. dumb) In the back of my mind, i really liked the radiant look of the Lancome Regenerie Lift sample--dewy, good coverage w/just the foundation- i tried in 25w, so i will probably give that foundation a spin next before repurchasing all of this. I also want to try Nars. i want "glow" and "dewy" ;)

i bought this one month ago and it fell apart today. i liked the brush for use with my mineral foundations or mainly blushes. it seemed to do the job, but looks like i'll have to invest in a better quality brush that lasts.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blacktrack

This is the first nonpencil liner that's worked for me. goes on smoothly, stays put all day, and doesn't smudge. great product update:2011... bought again and will keep doing so. beats all the pencils i've tried this year-it's just reliable and lasts. easy to put on after using for so long. guess it's my HG :) i updated some rating marks.... lasts forever--you'll want a new one before it actually gives out making it a great buy. update:2012 ... i'm STILL using this which is a miracle in itself. most of the other items i've reviewed i've abandoned to try other/better things . looks like this really is a keeper.
