Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - The Different Company - Rose Poivree

I had a sample of this that I received with several others and first sniff didn't have much impact, fast forward about a year when I found this group of samples in the bottom of a drawer. Thinking this was a box of rejects I did a quick sniff again before putting them into an auction when I came to Rose Poivree again. What was this? I had rejected this GEM?? What was I thinking? Did my nose learn how to appreciate it in that year of expanding my journey into frags? Did my chemistry change? Who knows? Who cares? It was like fireworks went off, beautiful music began to play and I fell headlong into LOVE! To me it is purely gorgeous rose with a hit of pepper's heat and totally compelling. Thankfully it lasts all day and into the night because otherwise I would have to keep applying since I have to sniff my arm over and over again with this one. Not that I need to, the sillage is great, I can definitely detect it as I move but I still have to bury my nose in it to have MORE!!! DH always says 'you've put it on again, haven't you?' then he buries his nose in my arm for his hit of it, lol So don't let the bad reviews put you off, try it for yourself and if you don't get it at first, save it for a year and try again, you may find yourself falling into love too!
I rarely buy anything blind and I had never heard of this fragrance until I saw it mentioned in the list of perfumes that could now be purchased in France. Fragrantica was the only review site with any info and I was impressed at how many people who had sampled and were looking to purchase this perfume. Their description says in part - "This Chypre floral fragrance will give you fruity accords of tangerine, peach and apple, just before a heart of the perfume blossoms with Egyptian jasmine absolute, Bulgarian rose and orange blossom. A base encompasses amber, patchouli, sandalwood and musk." So I bit the bullet and added it to my order and I am ever so glad I did! I really don't smell apple and the floral heart is so well blended that I don't pick out a particular floral note. I find that each time I wear it I am finding new facets and my ability to perceive it fully continues to grow. Very feminine! Elegant - would make a gorgeous wedding fragrance, not overly sweet or powdery but whispers of both. Longevity on skin and clothing is terrific, it goes all day and into the night. Sillage is just right, I get compliments from those in close proximity but not from across the room. With the softly prominent peach note it really reminds me of a softer and probably more accessible Mitsouko. As you can tell I love this stuff! lol
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Profumum- Dolce Acqua

I am not a coconut fragrance lover, quite the opposite so it was with some trepidation I got a decant of this one. I am SO glad I did, I get very very little coconut and what is there is soft and smooth. This scent accomplishes something I didn't think any could, it combines a beautiful floral with a soft gourmand. If you read each note you may be put off, but a master perfumer put these together and I need a fb of this. Can't stop sniffing my arm! Longevity is terrific and this one just gets deeper and more beautiful on me by the hour. I now love two Profumum's, Dulcis in Fundo and this beauty.
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - D600 Carner Barcelona

D600 is a fragrance inspired by the city of Barcelona and the fresh morning air. Its spicy notes evoke the Mediterranean spirit of the urban center. Christophe Raynaud is the nose of the perfume. Top notes: black pepper, bergamot and grapefruit. Heart: cardamom, iris and jasmine. Base: cedar, vanilla and vetiver. This has become my number one fragrance, it is such an unusual combination of woods, spices and florals, with a beautiful non foody vanilla base. I smell zero grapefruit in this btw. It's sillage is very good, DH is always commenting about it's wafting towards him, and loving it. It is listed as a unisex scent even with the florals and I'd agree completely and while many unisex scents don't work for me, this one suits me to a T :) Longevity is fabulous, spray it at night and still catching whiffs the next morning. I find it exceedingly comforting and warm and while it works well any time of year, it is like most woody scents at its best in the cold weather. Truly this is a masterpiece, and so compelling, I can't stop sniffing it and love that it surprises and happens to me all over again each time I wear it.
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Mona di Orio Les Nombres D'Or Musc

Like many people I'm anosmic to many musk fragrances. It seems I am most anosmic (cannot smell) the strongest, dirtiest, most infamous of the musks. Luten's Musc Kublai Khan, Malle's Musc Ravageur, and many more. I read all the reviews of just how fabulous/awful/remarkable these popular frags are, I get a sample and expectantly open the vial - eternal optimist - hoping to be invited to the party, only to find - nothing, nada, zip! So I thought I was doomed to go through life missing out on the 'joy of musk' when a sample of Mona's Musc came my way. This time I thought, yea right, yet another musk miss when POW! I was transported to the most elegant classy party and I was in the midst of it, dancing like there was no tomorrow! Sigh, my search was over :) There I stood with loveliness itself in a little vial in my hand and finally understood how musk can make one mad, in the nicest possible way, of course. Notes: Neroli, angelica, rose, heliotrope, Tonka bean absolute, musk. This is NOT a neroli or floral dominated scent at all, but a gorgeous blend that feels floral without being flowery. I think the combination of the tonka absolute and whatever musk Mona used in this are what makes this such a star for me. If you can smell this type of musk I'll bet you'll love it too. If it is something you can't really appreciate, keep trying, you too may find your personal musk party just around the next sniff!
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Profumum Dulcis in Fundo

This is one of the most profoundly beautiful, rich fragrances it has been my privilege to try on my perfume journey! There is no 'orange creamsicle" on me, just one of the purest and most stunningly gorgeous citrus vanillas one could imagine. Maybe some people's noses just don't recognize such high quality ingredients. Sillage is soft but certainly effective and longevity has been excellent, but then all Profumum's rate high in those categories. Don't be put off by some of the reviews, try a sample yourself, you don't know what you might be missing :) Now that cold weather is here, this is definitely going to be one of my major frags to go to.
I read the reviews and sniff my wrist where I applied Rose Noir a few hours ago and I can only wonder at how different perceptions of fragrance can be! Grapefruit, freesia, where? Dirty, animalic? uh uh, I get none of that. On my skin it is a beautiful deep dark rose that I would swear has some orris root in it giving it one of the most earthy roses I've yet to encounter. I spritzed some on, DH, came in and said what is that? It is gorgeous! And a few hours later after only getting deeper and rosier, he still is asking for sniffs. This is fbw for this gal!
Fragrances -Serge Lutens - Petit Livre des Parfums (samples)
flannerygrace 7/13/2010 7:49:00 PM
I am so very glad that I did NOT base my judgment on various Lutens on the wax samples! They are definitely not a good example of what the actual fragrances are like. They are rather like amped out cartoon characters of the scents and seem to select one or two of the fragrances ingredients and turn them into some type of modern art representation of the scent that bears little to no resemblance to the original. Yes, you can get them for free, but it seems you get what you pay for! Read about them then get some samples from one of the sample selling sites, it is the only way to really get a sniff of what they are actually like!
Fragrances -Creative Scentualization - Love Comes From Within

One of the loveliest orientals I've come across, and I've come across a few! It is simply a wonderful blend to me, while I can distinguish some clove and carnation they are by no means too much. When I applied my sample my DH came in the room a bit later and said Wow! what is that? He says it smells very 'elegant' and I have to agree, it is a very classy ambery, sandalwood and one of the most unique fragrances I've tried. He declared it fbw, thankfully!
I have to agree with Katie Puckrick's video about this glorious scent! It is achingly gorgeous, enough like Shalimar to recommend it to me in the first place, but different enough to mean I have to have both! I don't get any one individual note from this, just a seamless beauty that twists and turns along its journey - which thankfully, is a long one. Oriental, incense, powder, it is a never ending circle of one following another and yet ever present in each turn. A femme fatale fragrance for sure.
Treatments -Bain de Terre - recovery complex serum
flannerygrace 8/19/2009 10:33:00 AM
I never thought I'd find something to help tame my fly away hair that didn't make it sticky and oily, but this product does the trick. Simply fabulous! Gonna buy it by the case though you use very little and a small bottle lasts forever.
If I could swim in this stuff I would! For someone who up to now has heartily disliked honey fragrances and run from 'gourmands' I'm amazed to find how much I love this fragrance. My husband and I both wear it and find it incredibly gorgeous on each of us though our chemistries accent different notes. It works any time of year, but wearing it on a cold wintry night before the fire is gonna be perfection. Great staying power, beautiful bottle, I'm in love.
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Sinfonia di Note Fleur de Santal
flannerygrace 4/24/2009 11:41:00 AM
I can't believe more people don't love this one! It has become one of my top five scents and I was sooooo happy yesterday when a full bottle of it arrived at my door. It is knee weakeningly gorgeous! I find it all sandalwood and softness, it takes me to a very happy place and my dh is always startled by it, I always get a neck snap when I walk in after applying it and a 'boy but you smell fabulous' comment. And of all the problems I have with scents that I could love not lasting ten minutes on me, this one I applied 12 hours ago and I just got another glorious waft of it! NOTHING does that on me! How wonderful when you've tried hundreds of samples, as I have, and been so disappointed with the majority to finally hit one that just lights up the sky. Try it, you may just find you love it half as much as I do, and that would be enough for a dozen bottles!
Sorry to be the voice of dissent, but I really hated this product. In this long winter my hair has really gotten dried out and I've been looking for some products to rehydrate and condition it. Since this product had 100% approval and was among the MUA top picks I thought I couldn't go wrong. Was I wrong! First the fragrance is such a strong chemical smell that just lasts forever. And while it didn't leave my hair feeling greasy or gummy, it also did not give it the hydration or shine that I am after. I would add that I got the whole set, the shampoo, conditioner and the spray conditioner and I would not buy any of them again. I don't use any type of dryer or curling iron or anything that would dry out my hair, just have fine hair that is getting too dry from shampoos, but this line didn't help at all.
I love ambers, my favorites are Ambre Precieux, Alahine, and Ambre Sultan and now I can add this utterly gorgeous Tsukimi to the list. The notes per the perfumed court are - pepper, citrus, jasmine, violet, vanilla, patchouli, and amber. I get mostly a spicy warm amber that is as gold as autumn and since this is Annayake's autumn scent, how appropriate! It is also one of the best sillage of any of my fragrances. I dabbed some on after a shower from the sample I obtained and when my husband got home the first thing he said when he came through the door was 'what is that fragrance, it is fantastic!' . Then he said go buy a bottle of it now! Love this stuff, may they never discontinue it.
