Lotions/ Creams -Napoleon Perdis - Napolean Perdis Whipped Dream (Tan enhancer)
feytr 3/23/2008 8:12:00 PM
I have fair skin, but have been using the Napoleon Perdis sunless tanning mousse in conjunction with this tan enhancer. I LOVE this stuff! It enhances my light, golden skin, adding a touch of color and a little bit of shimmer. My skin feels more silky after using this, but not greasy at all. The greyish stain on my hands afterwards had me concerned, but it looks great on the body. I actually got this at Off 5th for less than 7 dollars, but have given this product a 4 out of 5 because the regular price is still a bit steep. However, I WOULD purchase this again, because if you want the perfect tan you cannot go without it. Smells great too!

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
feytr 4/23/2007 1:53:00 AM
I was always skeptical about the effectiveness of MAC brand cosmetics, but my trip to the MAC store today has cemented its popularity for me. The SA matched me up with C3 and (rather heavily, in my opinion) powdered my face with the number 187 MAC brush. I expected dry, flaky skin and an overly made-up face, but I was surprised to see how well the color blended in with my skin tone as well as mask my enlarged pores and uneven coloring. The real test was later at night, when I checked in the mirror and was surprised to not see an oily face stare back at me! I have always had problems with foundation not being able to withstand my oily complexion. With Studio Fix I did not touch up once all day and my face was still very matte. Overall, I'm very pleased with this product. It works great and was not expensive at all. My new HG! Edit: For anyone having problems with cakiness, I definitely recommend using the MAC 187 brush to apply. It picks up just the right amount of foundation (or blush) and application is light and weightless.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer
feytr 4/20/2007 11:27:00 PM
I first tried this product because my father's company packages cosmetics for smashbox, so I got a bunch of samples. You definitely do not need to use a lot of product to get the full effect. It goes on incredibly smooth and creates a great canvas for your foundation. I would most definitely buy this product again. The only complaint I have is that it does not matify, so you will have a shiny face if you have that problem. Also, the feeling of silicone on your face isn't very comfortable right after application and it also makes it tough to wash off. Overall, I was pretty pleased with Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and have given it 5 lippies.

Mascara -Revlon - Lash Fantasy Mascara
feytr 2/5/2007 11:42:00 PM
Clumpy, dry, useless. This mascara was terribly disappointing. Although it does give you more volume and a little more length, it clumps up really easily and does not do nearly as well as my everyday mascara, Bourjois's Yes to Volume No to Clumps, which does the same job in one swipe (and effectively to boot!). I also had a bad reaction to Lash Fantasy (my eyelid swelled up). Don't buy, it's a waste of money.

Polishes -Revlon - Frankly Scarlet
feytr 2/5/2007 11:36:00 PM
I absolutely loved this color. A gorgeous red, it is almost a ruby-red-slipper color with the flecks of gold in the polish. Goes on smooth, dries to an immaculate finish; it is definitely something I would purchase again.

Polishes -Maybelline - Wet Shine Diamonds nail color
feytr 2/5/2007 11:33:00 PM
Product: Maybelline's Wet Shine Diamonds nail polish in Lilac Glitz #435 Pros: Long lasting color--it doesn't chip away easily. Goes on smoothly--no "goopiness" to the polish. Cons: Dries streaky, giving it a cheap look. You can see the brush strokes. A get-what-you-pay-for product. I would shell out a little more for a better quality polish that would give you the "diamond shine" you are looking for. Instead, Maybelline's Wet Shine Diamonds gives you a dull shine, which left me underwhelmed. Overall, not a polish I would buy again, but I won't rule out all of the Wet Shine line.

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete with SPF 15 Lotion
feytr 2/5/2007 11:18:00 PM
Excellent daily moisturizer. I use it after washing my face in the mornings and it has never failed me. The non-greasy formula doesn't feel heavy on my skin and it doesn't clog my pores. The added vitamin E and C as well as sun protection are a plus.

Fragrances -Lacoste - Touch of Pink EDT
feytr 2/5/2007 11:13:00 PM
I am a long-time fan of Lacoste and their products, so I was excited when they came out with TOP. I usually test fragrances for a day before deciding to purchase and TOP lasted all day, only fading a little. This is definitely a perfume for the younger set (I am 21), so I can understand why many would say it's cheap smelling. It's definitely for young, girly girls. Very light and feminine, I really liked that it wasn't overpowering or too sweet. It smells citrus-y and girly. I did buy the gift set for $55 (included was body lotion and shower gel, both of which I never used). For those who think that this is too strong, perhaps you put too much on. That can have a very obnoxious effect and is a huge pet peeve of mine. Personally, I find this to be a more youthful scent than Gucci's Envy Me or many other scents. I use this scent often and have received numerous compliments. I do want a new everyday scent and am shopping around :).

Powder -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Powdered Mineral Foundation
feytr 2/5/2007 10:19:00 PM
With a light hand, L'Oreal's Bare Naturale foundation goes on smoothly and without cakiness. After watching countless BE ads, I was interested in trying out a powder foundation but was put off by the price. I have oily skin, redness around the nostrils, as well as minor acne. Although I'm not totally wowed, I will continue to use this (at least until I'm done with this one). This foundation is not a total package, but I did like the ease of use and it does give nice coverage (redness and blemishes were covered with the aid of concealer underneath). I have only used this product once, but so far so good. My daily makeup routine will take but a couple of minutes, since using this is much quicker and easier for me as opposed to the old sponge/brush and liquid foundation method (although I'd go back to that for times when I want a more polished look). Edit: I had at first given this product 3 lippies, but after switching to MAC StudioFix and using the MAC 187 brush I tossed the Bare Naturale foundation QUICK. The brush included in this product is scratchy and ineffective. If you really want to give this a shot, try using a better powder, stippling, or buffer/kabuki brush. You're more likely to get better results!

Mascara -Bourjois - Yes to Volume No to Clumps
feytr 2/5/2007 1:16:00 PM
My absolute favorite, affordable mascara! Bourjois's Yes to Volume No to Clumps mascara was able to give me the effect of those two-step volume pumping and lash extending mascaras with just a single swipe. I love the packaging; a very cute, pink wand. I am Asian and don't have the advantage of long full lashes that takes curl, but this mascara was able to give me gorgeous looking lashes and holds curl better than any regular mascara I have used. I was so shocked at the results, I had to tell everyone! Will definitely be buying this product again!
