Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Clean

I actually received this as a gift. I never actually used it until recently when I was kind of desperate for a powder that would take away the shine from my face, at the time I was using a mineral powder from PF but it wasn’t controlling the shine at all. I patted the CG stuff ever so gently on my face, because I find with pressed powders, they're mainly produced to be patted on, cuz if u wipe it on or brush it on, it doesn't have the same effect. As I did this, it came onto my skin powdery and chalky and I tried blending it in, but it still looked like I had flour on my face. But because I was pretty deprived of a good powder at the time, I continued to use this one as a backup. That was, until I noticed I was breaking out -.- not majorly, just under the skin little bumps…so it was some sort of skin reaction from the fragrance it had in it probs. This CG powder one had fragrance contained in it, but I didn't think it'd cause any problems, well yeh...I was wrong lol. Overall, I won't ever buy this stuff for myself cause I don't rlly trust this brand all too much. I guess it would be an okay powder for people with much less sensitive skin. It’s also terribly drying, made my face kind of tight and uncomfortable and it doesn’t rlly control shine at all. But give it a go if ur skin isn’t overly dry, oily or sensitive lol.

Conditioner -Dove - Intense Moisture Conditioner
rated 5 of 5

I love love love this conditioner! lol. I just used it today actually, after I went to the pool. I came back from it and my hair was strawy and disgustingly tangled lol, after I washed it with dove, my hair is replenished and bk into healthy condition. I always switch from dove to Palmolive to VO5, they're all awesome products and I can't ever rlly stick to the one cuz they all perform so well. I buy the conditioners for dry/coarse hair, which is basically what my hair type is. After I wash my hair with this conditioner, my hair is so soft and silky that I can't keep from running my fingers through it lol. After I condition though, I usually spray my hair with VO5 tame hairspray, the best hairspray I have ever come across and I've tried plenty. This adds to the gloss and the soft touch, leaving my hair rlly healthy. I deff recommend this conditioner, rlly puts the moisture back in hair and makes it so soft and bouncy. I usually re-purchase it when I'm changing from one conditioner to the next and it never fails me :)

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream
rated 1 of 5
fallingStars 12/21/2007 5:18:00 AM

I'm also reviewing for the Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream. I was in desperate search for a moisturizer with its main purpose of controlling oil production and shine and the body shop assistants’ suggested this, promising 'mattified' skin throughout the whole day. I trusted the body shop, besides it has seaweed in it so that was spose to be good. Yeeeh right, what a joke! First application, it is light yeh, but does NOTHING about controlling oil or shine, in my opinion, it made the appearance of my skin worse. Throughout the day, instead of smoothing oil away like it promises, it basically was a paste smeared across my face and made my skin look so un-even and pasty, not a good look, it also do no such thing of hydrating or moisturizing, which is what I also need. I will never ever purchase this crap again and on top of all this, it made me get a few disgustingly huge zits annd the price I had to pay for it was $25 (AUS) awful, not worth it at all.

Cleansers -Garnier - Pure Deep Clean Cream Wash
rated 4 of 5
fallingStars 12/21/2007 4:54:00 AM

This is actually a surprisingly great product :) I really like it; I've been using it for roughly around 2 months maybe and so far so good. I love the refreshing smell; love the texture and feel of the cream. They're not kidding when they say 'deep clean’; it really does eliminate all impurities so fast. The first time I used it, my face became already clearer in one night. Really happy with the results and this product :) I love the fact that it contains ingredients such as zinc and aloe extracts and salicylic acid, they're great for clearing skin gently and swiftly. Another bonus is it is quite cheap, round $12 which is good for its quality and it contains no skin irritants and no alcohol ^^ perfect. I only gave it 4 stars however, because it isn't harsh on the skin, but it does overly clean it, but that's what it is suppose to do. It leaves my skin with a very shiny, over cleansed appearance, but helps greatly with redness and impurities. I recommend using this only at night times, cuz it doesn't matter what u look like when u go to bed lol and also, moisturize regularly when using this product cuz of it's deep cleaning effects. Other than that you’re golden :)

Toners -Biore - Triple Action Astringent
rated 1 of 5
fallingStars 12/21/2007 4:34:00 AM

This is absolutely horrible. I hate it with a passion lol. My face has recently become oilier because of the weather changes, spring to summer. So I heard about toners evaporating unnecessary oil. I saw this stuff advertised in a mag and it sounded great. I purchased it quite cheap so that was a plus. I started using it but only found that it was worsening the oil production. It made my face horribly shiny and sticky, worst of all...pasty and I HATE that look on me lol verry gross. Since then, I did some research of what products are bad for your skin often contained in cleansers. The first thing it says is avoid skin irritants such as most alcohols, alcohol denat is okay, which it has but also round 3 other alcohols. Alcohols just basically strip your skin from natural oils and stimulate the sebum glands to try and replace the necessary oil being taken away, causing over-oil production. Witch hazel is also mentioned as a skin irritant, but I don't think it irritates the skin too much. Also, avoid toners that say 'Gives a 'cool' and 'tingling' sensation, as this feeling is just caused by skin irritants such as menthol and camphor, which also strips the skin of natural oils and increases oil productions. In general lol, you should mostly avoid toners with alcohol in them; this is no good for the skin. I have deff learnt my lesson and will never make that mistake again. the site I got this info from is great :) this is the link if anyone is interested in becoming more knowledgeable :) http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php?showtopic=102347

Moisturizers -Garnier - Pure Shine Control Moisturizer
rated 2 of 5
fallingStars 12/21/2007 4:11:00 AM

This product felt like a miracle worker the first time I ever tried it. It controlled shine quite well but didn't help much with oil build up like it advertises it does. I used it for round 2 weeks and found it to be nice. But during the day, I noticed a sticky feel to my face, my cheek's skin also felt heavier than it ever had but I figured that it was because I needed to rinse off and reapply. After a while using this, I had come to realize that it is a completely useless product. It blocked my pores and gave me 2 huge white-headed zits and I know it was the cream, simply because I hadn't been getting any zits for a while till I started using the cream. I was quite frustrated and discontinued the use. I did some research and found that, yeh sure the clay helps absorb oil (got me sucked in with this fact) but because of the clay, it eventually clogs and blocks the pores. The cream is quite thick and heavy, doesn't absorb well and doesn't allow the skin to breathe. I deff would never buy this again. But I'm glad I tried it and found out so I can warn people. My skin type is also combo (dry round cheeks, slightly oily in t-zone) and I rarely get huge zits, only minor ones...but this rlly did clog the pores, I can't find any other cause except this and as soon as I discontinued it, the zits have gone away and my face is much better. Horrible product, smells nice but be warned and aware.

Moisturizers -Garnier - Skin Naturals Soft 24-Hour Nourishing Day Cream
rated 2 of 5
fallingStars 12/21/2007 3:46:00 AM

I saw this advertised in a cosmo mag recently and I thought it sounded like exactly what I needed. I had just recovered from a horrible skin rash due to a reaction to a no-name sunscreen so I figured because this contained vitamin E and rose essence, it would be perfect to restore the moisture in my cheeks, (I'm combination, rlly rlly dry in winter all over my face but in the hotter seasons, dry cheeks and slightly oily t-zone) I bought it and started applying it to my cheeks at night time. I was scared at first because it came out quite thick and had a really over-powering scent, but I kept reassuring myself that because it had the two ingredients of vitamin E and rose essence, it would be fine. A week goes by and everything was well, my cheeks were rlly soft and glowing but one morning I woke up and looked into the mirror and discovered patches of redness from where my rash once was. I didn't think much of it, cuz they were already red and blotchy from recovering. I kept applying the garnier soft cream and it completely reacted to my skin like how the sunscreen did -.- made tinny red bumps come up on the skin's surface. I did some research and found that rose and rose essence is a skin irritant. *sighs* so now I’m recovering again lol and back onto my lovely happyderm moisturizer from L'Oreal. This stuff is nice for a while, but can react over time, so use with caution in my opinion. I'm deff not buying this again.

Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Happyderm [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
fallingStars 12/21/2007 12:41:00 AM

I have recently just got over a horrible rash on both sides of my face from using a no brand sunscreen -.- never again lol. It's only now that I realize that I have extremely sensitive skin and I have to be careful of what I'm putting on my face, which is why I turned to this site. So neways, after the lumps and bumps of the rash started to go away from using this per-scripted rash cream, my face was left completely stripped and so flaky and dry. I was in desperate search of moisture and I noticed my L'Oreal happyderm normal-combo skin lying around. (I was using this in winter but it came to summer and wasn't helping my skin out too much with absorbing oil in my t-zone area). So I decided to give it a go again and apply it to my horribly dry cheeks. The morning after I applied it, the dryness was completely gone and my face was soo silky smooth. I couldn't of been happier with the results. I love this moisturizer and think it's lovely ^^ It gives a healthy glow as it promises and hydrates so well. I've been using it recently because I've been trying all kinds of moisturizers but everyone of them have had negative side effects, this controls dryness but not exactly oil. I'm thinking of buying the happyderm one in normal-oily skin instead now after reading all the great reviews and I figured that if this one performs so well then I may as well go out and try the one that's more suited for my skin...so I'll see how that goes :) I deff recommend it, for me, it was a complete skin saver lol.

Lotions/ Creams -Davidoff - Coolwater Moisturizing body lotion
rated 3 of 5
fallingStars 12/20/2007 9:14:00 AM

I received this body lotion as a chrissy gift last year. I love the smell it has, so refreshing and lingers on me all day. I like how it's gentle on the skin and not overly greasy. They're not lying when they say when applying the lotion, water droplets are absorbed into the skin, I could feel a very watery texture when I applied it. I think this lotion is more hydrating than moisturizing and there's nothing wrong with that. My only complaint though is it kind of doesn't moisturize very well, more like a liquid perfume really, in my opinion anyway. I don't think I'd purchase it again. But I'm really addicted to the fragrance...so I don’t know.

Cleansers -Nivea - Visage Young - Wash Off Cleansing Gel
rated 4 of 5
fallingStars 12/20/2007 9:01:00 AM

I’ve been purchasing this product for roughly round 3 yrs now and over the years it has been really gentle on my combo skin. Since I’ve grown a little older now though, it really hasn't helped with the occasional breakouts. I feel that it's good for the younger or adult age range. It has a lovely scent to it, which I adore as it resembles the ocean smell, so it's really refreshing when it's on your face. The natural sea minerals are great too, as they help purify the face and just freshen it up. I've been faithful to this product for a while now, but I think it's time to switch to a new morning cleanser. But I definitely recommend it to people who want something natural and gentle for their skin and not feel like it has an over-cleaning effect :)
