Lipstick -Clinique - Almost Lipstick - Chic Honey
rated 5 of 5
fallenrainxx 2/16/2013 2:02:00 AM

I bought this from Sephora because I couldn't find the "Black Honey" shade; Chic Honey was the closes thing. They definitely advertised right: it is an ALMOST lipstick. I feel like it's a cross between a lipstain and a lipstick. The colour looked intimidating in the bottle (very rich purple-brown-maroon hues) but on the lips, it looks gorgeous and very natural. It is not shimmery nor is it glossy or matte. It has the same finish as natural lips. The colour is buildable: you can put on one layer and have a subdued effect, or you can put on 2 or 3 layers for heavy pigmentation. The formula is not drying and you don't have to reapply several times. I like the packaging: very simple and the case is light and thin so you can throw it in any purse. I can wear this for an everyday look for sure. This colour is especially beautiful for autumn and winter. I don't usually ever wear lipsticks, but I would definitely repurchase this product. It doesn't come off when I drink water. It actually feels like I'm not wearing anything on my lips: indeed, it is a bit like a lip stain-lipstick!

Cleansers -Clinique - Liquid Facial Soap - Mild
rated 5 of 5
fallenrainxx 2/16/2013 1:55:00 AM

I have combination skin with minor breakouts around the T zone. I have tried so many different kinds of face wash, from drugstore oxy pads to department store Shiseido lines, but this is my HG face wash. I am a huge fan of Clinique products. I have relatively sensitive skin that gets dry around the edges of my face sometimes. I like products that don't have alcohol or fragrance, is gentle but will completely clean my skin - if this is what you're looking for, you've found the right product! I use half a pump and mix it with a bit of water, lather it up in my hands to form little bubbles, and gently massage it in circles over my face. It might smell a little strange, but the results are amazing. I don't think I'll ever find a face wash as good as this one. There isn't a single bad thing about it. It's available in almost every drugstore and department store, it's cheap ($20 for a good size bottle), and best of all: it works. I like the packaging very much - it's great for travel because the pump actually locks if you turn it a certain way, so it won't spill all over your luggage. After I wash my face with this, my skin feels clean and supple. There is no oil residue but my face doesn't feel tight at all. Buy this soap - you'll definitely love it!!

BB Cream -Skin79 - Super+ BB Cream Gold Label
rated 4 of 5
fallenrainxx 2/16/2013 1:47:00 AM

This BB cream is one of the best I've ever tried. I have combination skin that has mild break outs around the T zone. This BB cream is medium-full coverage and you can build it as a concealer. I apply it with my fingers, but you can also apply it with a makeup brush or damp sponge. One layer does the trick and you really only need a small amount! A bit goes a very long way with this product. The colour is a neutral to cool tone (I have warm to neutral skin tone but this still works on me). The finish is dewey so if you like a matte BB cream, don't choose this one. It is moisturizing but not oily. This BB cream has never broken me out and it doesn't look cakey. Like most BB creams on combination skin, it will not last all day (not a 24 hr cream if this is what you're looking for), but it does last me through most of the day. I think you can set this BB cream with a powder halfway through the day to make it last. I love the packaging: the pump system is sanitary and super convenient; also allows you to get everything from the bottle. The price is about average for good Asian BB creams (~$30 to $35). I would definitely repurchase this but I think this one bottle will last me a long time. I like how it has spf for sun protection.

Eyeliner -Revlon - ColorStay Liquid Liner
rated 4 of 5
fallenrainxx 2/16/2013 1:41:00 AM

I bought this because I like the Revlon ColourStay line of products. This is my first liquid eyeliner and I have to say it's really good! It's not hard to be very precise with this liner because of the felt tip. The colour is intense and pigmented. Generally, this liner stays on all day (towards the end of a long day it will smudge a bit but nothing major). Great for a student looking for a cheap and available, but good liner. I also wear contacts and it doesn't irritate my eyes at all. I already repurchased a second one (one of these will last you ~4 months if you wear it every single day).

Crème -L'Oreal - magic smooth souffle
rated 2 of 5
fallenrainxx 2/5/2011 9:34:00 PM

I tried this product as a sample. It was easy to apply and it was lightweight, which I liked, but it magnified all of the dry parts on my face. Because I have dry skin (especially now, in the wintertime), this foundation just isn't good for me. It did give medium coverage, but left a VERY cakey look. It didn't look natural at all, and the shades didn't match me. Overall, I would not buy this again and would only recommend this for people who have normal-oily skin and need minimal-medium coverage.

Liquid -Marcelle - True Radiance Radiant Complexion Make-up SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
fallenrainxx 1/31/2011 8:26:00 PM

PROS: -not too expensive (less than $20) -looks natural if put on correctly -hypoallergenic -perfume-free -non-comedogenic -smooth, lightweight formula CONS: -isn't good for people with really oil skin -hard to find a matching shade -horrible packaging (screw top, tiny opening on top, no pump-I usually use a Q-Tip to get the foundation out) It's important to note that this foundation is NOT a liquid foundation in the sense that you can't pour it out. It's more of a mousse-liquid foundation. It will keep its shape in the bottle, and it's up to you to get it out. It will not pour out, even if you try very hard to. Overall, this foundation gave me natural-looking coverage (I'd say medium coverage) that made my pores look smaller and covered the redness & blemishes. I would buy this again because it's hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic (I have sensitive skin).

BB Cream -MISSHA - M Signature Real Complete B.B. Cream SPF 25 PA++
rated 5 of 5
fallenrainxx 11/10/2010 7:21:00 PM

This product cost $38 for a regular size bottle, which is on the expensive side of any facial product. However, it is well worth the money! It covers redness and scarring extremely well. It doesn't break me out. It looks very natural and feels light on the skin. It is made with organic ingredients and has healing properties (contains ginkgo biloba & over 10 other extracts). It has SPF, like most BB Creams. The packaging is super pretty and comes with a convenient and sanitary pump. The one thing about this product is that it doesn't cover rough surfaces well. I have acne, so while it's great for redness and pores, it doesn't cover actual pimples. Another thing is that it only comes in 2 shades, so if you aren't fair-skinned (I am, so I don't have a problem with this), then you should not buy this product. For reference, I'm an NC25 Overall, well worth the price and I would totally buy this again!

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner - Ultra Black
rated 1 of 5
fallenrainxx 10/8/2010 2:09:00 PM

While the liner is waterproof, the felt tip applicator really doesn't do anything. When I try to line my eyes with it, the liquid doesn't go on smoothly or consistently because the point of the felt tip always creates a space where there is little/no liner! It takes a really long time for this eyeliner to dry, so that's not good either. It doesn't irritate my eyes or anything, so that's a plus. However, it is very hard to remove, even with eye makeup remover and warm water. If you get this stuff on your lashes, it will form a hard crust on your lashes, which is unattractive and gross. I would only use this liner... will, never. Bottom line: don't buy it. Not worth the money or time.

Shampoo -Neutrogena - Anti-Residue Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
fallenrainxx 7/30/2010 2:16:00 PM

I got this shampoo at shopper's after reading all the great reviews. Even though the price was a little steep, it was totally worth it! I only use this once a week since it's not a normal shampoo. It doesn't dry out my hair at all, it makes it so soft and in the shower, you can actually feel your hair is squeaky clean-literally, it squeaks. It doesn't damage my hair at all and afterwards, you just feel so clean and my hair has never felt so light. This shampoo gets rid of all residue, including shampoo, conditioner, serums, etc. It's a clear gel and it lathers pretty easily. The packaging isn't great-the bottle is chunky and wide, but it is a clear bottle so you can see how much you have left, which is nice. I definitely think this shampoo has made my hair shinier and smoother. All the residue buildup from conditioners made my hair heavy and tangled and dull. If I wash my hair with this shampoo, it gets rid of everything. I would definitely recommend this to everybody! It's a great buy, you get what you paid for, and it's a go-to shampoo for dirty hair with buildup. I would purchase it again. And again. And again :)

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Soft Kohl Eye Pencil
rated 3 of 5
fallenrainxx 7/23/2010 2:52:00 PM

I got this for about $9 at shopper's and it works great. It goes on very smoothly and doesn't tug too much on your eyelid. The colour is intense and pigmented, but it's pretty easy to remove, unlike many other pigmented eyeliners. It won't smudge unless you rub it and it lasts a long time without re-application. It doesn't irritate my eyes (and I wear contacts!) or my skin. The pencil comes with a little cap so it's a great liner to carry in a makeup bag. I didn't give it a 5/5 because the price was steep for such a small liner (shorter than most liners), but the quality was good, so it got 4/5. Overall, good buy. EDIT: Okay, when I try to sharpen it, the liner always breaks! It is much too soft to be sharpened, so a lot of it is wasted because it keeps on breaking :( BOOO

Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Oil Free eye makeup remover
rated 4 of 5
fallenrainxx 7/6/2010 8:45:00 PM

I got mine at Walmart for about $13. It removes makeup very well, even waterproof mascara! It does not contain oil, so it's great for m acne-prone skin (teenager here). It doesn't smell much like anything so that's a plus for me. The packaging is so simple and efficient-there is a twist off cap and the plastic is light and translucent so you can see how much you have left. You get a lot of remover for what you pay for. After I remove my makeup, I just wash it off with soap once and it comes off. The only thing is that if you use too much or wipe too frequently with it, it will sting your face. However, I do have sensitive skin, so that may be why it stings my face sometimes! Overall, well worth the buy and I would recommend this to everyone. It's a much less oily but a little more irritating version of Lacome's Bifacil, which I have also tried.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask
rated 5 of 5
fallenrainxx 2/25/2010 11:09:00 PM

I have mild/moderate acne with large pores & redness, and I've tried almost everything out there: different masks, cleansers, topical treatments, vitamin A, E, but nothing worked as well or as fast or nearly as effective as this ASPIRIN MASK. The salicylic acid in aspirin helps reduce inflammation & kills bacteria; this acid is found in many, many acne products, usually found with benozoyl peroxide (another acne-killer). The Recipe: Add a few drops of water (maybe 3-5 drops) to 1-4 tablets of aspirin and wait for it to dissolve, then mash it up with your finger or a Q-tip. This part is optional: add a spoonful of honey or aloe vera gel to make the mask more adhesive to your face. Honey has healing properties & fades scars while aloe vera gel soothes & reduces redness and the appearance of pores. Apply on your face, and depending on your skin's sensitivity, wait for 2-15 minutes and rinse off. PROS: -cheap -very effective -easy to make -gentle -doesn't dry out -good for ALL skin types (even sensitive) -reduces redness!!! -KILLS ACNE CONS: -it was expensive at my drugstore (11 bucks!) -it smells a bit like vinegar, because of the salicylic acid, but that's fine, it will not burn your skin I've only been using this for maybe 3 days, but I have seen a great improvement in my skin! I am so greatful to have found this recipe on the internet and to not have given up. Sometimes, I add olive oil to the mask (even though water + oil don't mix), just to make it a little more moisturizing. Don't worry if you don't wash off every single bit of aspirin, because once it dries, you can dust it off with a kabuki brush or a cotton pad (sometimes I do this as a toner-I just apply the mask and wait for it to dry completely and dust of the aspirin, leaving the salicylic acid in my skin) I CANT WAIT UNTIL MY ACNE COMPLETELY DISAPPEARS! It won't be long now!

Lip Treatments -Laura Geller - Lip Strip Cooling Sugar Scrub
rated 4 of 5
fallenrainxx 10/12/2009 2:18:00 PM

This lip scrub does a pretty good job of removing dead skin, but it doesn't scrub away the toughest dry skin. It's surprisingly moisturizing and I just love the tingly mint taste and sensation it gives you while you're scrubbing and afterwards! It's not harsh at all and even though the chunks of scrubbers in it are large and harsh-looking, it really isn't. Very gentle scrub that leaves your lips very soft and moisturized. I gave this a rating of 4, not 5, because it didn't scrub away the really tough dead skin cells. I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for a moisturizing, tasty lip scrub.

Liquid -Clinique - Superfit Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
fallenrainxx 10/8/2009 9:51:00 PM

COVERAGE: medium, buildable, dewey (matte, but glowing) PROS: -very natural looking -keeps it dry where needed, moisturized in dry areas -covers up everything from redness to a bump -doesn't break you out! -really easy to apply -stays on all day through sweat and water, but removes easily with a cleanser/make up remover -looks amazing in photographs CONS: -limited colour selection -kind of expensive, but on the cheaper side for department store brands at around $20 for 1 fluid ounce (1 fl. oz) BOTTOM LINE: get it if you have normal, combination, or oily skin and are looking for a very natural-looking, comfortable foundation that stays on all day, looks great in photos, and has a fairly resonable price (for a department store brand) TIPS: best to apply this with your fingers (I know nobody probably does this anymore, they all use brushes or a sponge) but for this foundation, fingers really do work. If you must use a brush, use a denser brush (not a flimsy one like the MAC 187).

Styling Products -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease Hair Serum
rated 4 of 5
fallenrainxx 9/27/2009 4:27:00 PM

This serum KILLS frizz. I have dry hair near the roots and it's all frizzy there. Also, at the top of my head, I have fly-aways. I saw this serum at the drugstore and decided to give it a try and now I really really like it! It smells nice, adds shine, smooths and I think it even makes my hair straighter (my natural hair is straight). I have thick, medium-coarse hair, so I use about 5-8 drops. It doesn't feel greasy at all (unless you put a lot at the roots, but I don't think anyone would be silly enough to do that). It's long-lasting, and best of all-it works! I'd totally buy this again and I would recommend this for anyone looking for frizz-control.
