Polishes -Sally Hansen - Gray-T Escape
fae_nymph 4/15/2013 2:35:00 PM
After amassing an absolutely SHAMEFUL collection of "nude" polishes, I have finally come across this -- my HG nude. At first glance, I thought it looked way too dark/purple/grey in the bottle, but it coats beautifully and I love that fat Sally Hansen brush, regardless of other critiques. Don't let the name fool you, it's more purple-pink than grey. My "undertones" are apparently "purple" - who knew! Beautiful color for fair/cool toned girls!

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Light/Medium
fae_nymph 5/21/2012 7:20:00 AM
Surprised this got so many bad reviews. Wondering if users were choosing the correct shade range. I am light/medium (light tan) and I thought this was perfect for me. It's really light, tinted moisturizer. I have no idea what a BB cream is, but I like this one. It is a little oily - but it doesn't turn colors, and it doesn't make me break out. Will repurchase.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum Express The Falsies Flared
fae_nymph 1/12/2012 3:04:00 PM
I like this mascara, I like the flare effect (I have no idea if the other varieties of Falsies work or not) - but I got the Flared because it was the most dramatic...... It definitely helps lengthen but can clump and look spidery if too much is applied. The wand is SUPER WEAK! That's my only pet peeve with this product. To get excellent lashes, I use this first, then use another sturdier wand to comb the lashes out ... apply another layer, repeat, repeat until you're happy with the amount ... if you use this with another wand/comb, it looks great!

Scrubs -Unlisted Brand - Sugar
fae_nymph 5/29/2011 7:15:00 AM
Not to be used on face (way to harsh), but perfect for body & feet! The body scrubs are made of oil & sugar.... I make my at-home body scrubs by mixing together a little olive oil & sugar and it's a great exfoliator. No need to purchase a $20 tin at B&BW. This stuff works great.

Scrubs -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Clear Scrub
fae_nymph 5/29/2011 7:08:00 AM
This is the only cleanser I have ever re-purchased. I love Neutrogena's Acne Stress Control line anyway, but in deciding what product to use from the line, I chose this one based on a few things: - It's the winner of the 2007 Allure Beauty Award for best product - The "microclear" technology that helps "stop breakouts before they start" - it's a gentle scrub with beads -- not apricot pit pieces or anything else that's harsh - it's said to help clear up acne and reduce redness. - it's oil-free. My skin is not particularly problematic, but it tends towards breakouts, especially when I'm stressed. I use this product twice a day and - WOW- it's like I have new skin. I hope they never discontinue this product -- it is sort of a hidden gem in the aisle of drugstore face wash products. I don't like the cream cleanser (it's counter-part); I much prefer this scrub as I feel it really cleans my skin well. If you leave it on for a minute or two, it acts like a masque and really helps deep-cleanse. It contains 2% salicylic acid, so it won't dry out skin that is oily-normal. I won't try any other product from now on - this is my HG cleanser.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Peachy Keen #140
fae_nymph 5/28/2011 8:53:00 PM
I'm really surprised with the reviews. I love this color, it is my HG! The huge flat brush? LOVE it - I hate TINY, thin brushes because they tend to streak like crazy... this big, fat, flat brush is perfect for getting the whole nail in one swipe! Perfect for toenails, too. I did a perfect french manicure & pedicure this past weekend with this polish & white tip.... so gorgeous... my perfect nude color; everyone comments how beautiful my nails look and ask where I got them done. :) The color is definitely more suited towards Warmer complected people (if you have a tan this summer, this color is gorgeous)... but why anyone would buy something called PEACHY Keen thinking it would look good on a PINK/COOL complexion, I don't know! PEACH is obviously a warm color. :) It is expensive for drugstore at $8 - but it is the complete package. I've worn this for 7 days now without needing any touch-ups. Doesn't chip. Wears fabulously!

Skincare - Body -Hawaiian Tropic - Protective Tanning Lotion-SPF 8
fae_nymph 5/28/2011 8:46:00 PM
I tan indoors and buy very expense lotions, but when tanning outside the sun can be dangerous and I never know how intense it's going to be - so I use this when outdoors and I love it. I get a tan without getting burned. I never liked regular SPF sunscreen (30+) because I would *never* tan in the summer. This allows protection from burn, while still allowing color to develop. Perfect outdoor lotion.

Nails -Unlisted Brand - Broadway Nails Real Life French Nail Kit
fae_nymph 4/1/2011 4:07:00 PM
We're all born with certain gifts; I have great looking nails but I love the way acrylics look - however, I can't afford acrylics & their up-keep, so I look into falsies. Everyone asks me where I get my nails done when I'm wearing these! I find that it's the best nail kit out there for me - the length & color (I buy "Peach" in "Real Short" - they come in varying lengths & colors) is just right and I have no trouble matching the nails to my natural nailbeds; they look professional every time -- and I LOVE the break-off tabs... they don't leave that chintzy fake-looking "break off" mark on the nail when you snap them off, just a clean finish... And the nails last a long time, too (when applied correctly) -- I've been wearing mine for about a week now and have only had to re-glue one or two... (I work an office job and work a lot with my hands; these are practical...) Great product! I think it's about $6-$7 a package that includes two sets of nails (different sizes) and glue. I find the glue lasts a really long time!

Lotions/ Creams -Dove - Pro-Age Body Cream Oil
fae_nymph 4/1/2011 3:55:00 PM
Just bought this product - love the pump design (I notice it also comes in a tube, but this is what I saw in the store -- loveeee pumps!) -- I just put it on, I don't notice a strong smell that people are commenting about; it has a scent, but not what I would call "strong" or even all that noticable and certainly not unfavorable. I am only 25, but I bought this because I was looking for a body lotion that will moisturize but also give anti-aging benefits - this contains AHAs, SPF (5.... so, barely nothing, use a sunscreen in addition to this!) glycerin (binds water to the skin for moisturizing effects) and olive oil for nutrients & extra moisturization. I love the way my skin shines when I use this product; it does seem to "sit on the skin" if you do not have very dry skin but that feeling doesn't bother me. I do not find this product to be irritating or ineffective, and at $5.67 for a huge bottle (with pump!), I would definitely re-purchase!

Treatments -Olay - Regenerist Daily Thermal Mini-Peel
fae_nymph 3/20/2011 11:17:00 AM
My dermatologist recommends the Olay Regenerist line to all her clients seeking OTC anti-aging products - she says it's one of the few drugstore brands available right now that actually work. Olay Regenerist line is very expensive for drugstore brand, IMO (this tube of thermal mini peel ran me $23) but I decided to make this purchase for two reasons: 1) My dermatologist's recommendation of Olay Regenerist products 2) The ingredients in this product - glycolic acid (AHA) & the microcrystals help exfoliate skin, and it's gentle enough to use every day. The thermal part of it is magnesium that reacts with water; it's OK, but doesn't last more than a few seconds. I'm not sure if the thermal part actually has any benefit to the skin, but it kinda feels neat. Smell is signature "Olay" - not over-powering. I use this in conjunction with a salicylic acid (BHA) cleanser, a glycolic(AHA)/SPF/multi-vitamin lotion (day) and firming/anti-wrinkle lotion with sepilift/matrixyl/pro-vitamin A (night), and my skin GLOWS.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Face Lotion with SPF 15
fae_nymph 3/20/2011 10:53:00 AM
I've purchased this twice now. I really like it because it contains AHA & SPF -- it contains retinol & multi-vitamins and is said to reduce wrinkles, age spots & fine lines. I am too young for these problems just yet, but I use this anyway to keep my skin healthy & hydrated. It can cause some reaction the first few times you use it - so start off using it once every other day if it's bothersome for you. You might notice some slight stinging when you first put it on too, but that goes away. It tends to be a little greasy - but it is oil-free. Overall I have to say this has helped my skin when combined in my skin regimen. I like it for the SPF & AHA, and it's not so rough that my skin peels and flakes. It does not cause my skin to break out. I use it once a day, in the morning under make-up. My skin glows!

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Visiblecare (NutriumMoisture)
fae_nymph 3/20/2011 8:46:00 AM
I hate it when the "all natural" crowd comes in writing reviews for chemically-wrought mainstream beauty products. Dove VisibleCare isn't a organic all natural ingredient formula, so if you're chemically sensitive or the thought of "methyl-ethyl-whatevers" on your body creep you out, read the label before you buy and stay in the granola aisle and buy the all natural, fragrance-free stuff. For the rest of us, this is a great body wash. I am trying the "Renewing" version right now (blue bottle) and find it just great. It is very affordable (I think I paid $6 at WalMart for a big bottle of it!) - I wish it had more of a lip to the flip-cap to avoid nail-breakage, but c'est la vie. It has definitely improved the health of my skin. My dermatologist says the only beauty products worth their salt on the market right now are those made by Dove and those made by Olay (in the Regenerist line) - I believe her!! These are the only brands I buy and my skin looks fantastic!

Styling Products -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease 100% Glossing Mist
fae_nymph 3/3/2011 7:41:00 PM
I have short (chin length), color-treated, normal, thick hair. I don't use a lot of styling products, and rarely use heat on my hair. I tried this out today after washing & styling my hair - I was also wary because of the alcohol content and how it might dry my hair, but after using it, it seemed to have an almost oily effect on my hair (a little goes a long way, you don't need too much, and definitely keep it 8-10 inches away from your head when spraying!) -- It definitely glosses well. It's almost a glistening effect. I was very impressed at the shine it added to my hair. I love, love, love this product. I can't see myself ever leaving the house without this product!

Mascara -Rimmel - Sexy Curves
fae_nymph 10/10/2010 8:07:00 AM
Tried it because I was lured in by the attractive packaging... when I used it, I found the applicator to be very dangerous!! It is twisted around (I guess to make "curves"?), and the bristles are SHARP! Be careful not to poke your eye out! I have medium lashes with not much curl or volume -- I found this just made my lashes look long and spidery. And it doesn't create "sexy curves" whatsoever... my lashes just stuck straight up in an uneven mess! I'll use it to comb over my lashes once I put my real mascara on, I guess (currently: Max Factor's 2000 Calorie mascara).... or maybe just add it to my collection of fail mascaras!
