Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Complexion Brush
rated 5 of 5

$3 for a face cosmetics brush is extremely cheap, and for it to actually be good is amazing. This brush is very soft, perfect for applying blush, but not really powder in my opinion b/c it's very flat and doesn't cover a lot of surface area if you swirl it. Haven't tried it with liquid foundation, but I hear it's decent for that too.

Blush -E.L.F. - Studio Blush Tickled Pink
rated 4 of 5

After seeing that Candid Coral is a closer match to NARS Orgasm, I have to say I regretted buying this blush. However, since my skin has a pink-undertone to it, my natural blush is also pink, so this is suitable for a natural flush. Contrary to a previous reviewer, mine only had 2.4 g of product, not nearly as much as normal blushes have/ It's pigmented for a blush, and a little bit goes a long way (my skin color is ~NC20), but because blushes always last me a long time while other blushes come out, I'm probably going to buy Candid Coral next time.

Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 - Pink Kiss
rated 4 of 5
eyecequeen 5/12/2010 10:20:00 PM

Honestly, as long as lip products smell good (I like the grape candy smell), I'm willing to tolerate other flaws. This lip gloss, to my surprise, actually isn't sticky, but the texture is a little thick, not that easy to spread (maybe due to the applicator, which isn't great). The color is nice, sheer but still gives a tint. I took one lippie off b/c I really like glossy lip glosses, but this one was just shiny, not the look I love, but the shine does last quite a bit. For a dollar lip gloss, this is pretty good.

Eye Primer -L'Oreal - De-crease Eyeshadow base
rated 2 of 5
eyecequeen 4/25/2010 7:52:00 PM

When L'Oreal went on a 40% off sale at CVS, I finally caved in and bought this for $5.40 + tax. I am so glad I didn't purchase this at retail price. After 2-3 hours, my eyeshadow creased, and it wasn't just a slight crease, you could definitely tell that there was a line at the fold of the eyelid. That would've been okay if the eyeshadows went on more pigmented, but it was the same as if I had no primer on. Basically, this is a useless product for the eyes for anyone w/ an oily lid. Personally, I have a hooded lid, and the fold that would be the crease for other people collects a lot of oil during the day. If you had a larger crease, this might work for you b/c the oily doesn't all stay in one place anyway. The texture of the base is very thick, kind of hard to blend - if you take too long (say, you put some on one eye, then the other eye) the first eye would've already somewhat dried and you can't spread it evenly. I put it on my finger to dab then blend on my eyes. It does mattify your eye for some time, but not enough to be the 8 hours they claim. I would not recommend this to anyone, if you really need a primer but doesn't want to spend $18 on UDPP or Too Faced Shadow Insurance, use your mattifying face primer or just concealer + powder to set it.

Lipstick -Unlisted Brand - CQ Lipstick in Tickled Pink (253)
rated 3 of 5
eyecequeen 4/2/2010 7:01:00 PM

For whatever reason, the lipstick in the tube looks like a pinky nude with more a pink undertone, but on my lips, it looks like a very cool-toned lilac. I thought it's one of those coated w/ color on the outside, but looking at the part applied to my lips, it's still nude pink. The color is very strange, I already have enough lilac pinks, which is why I picked a neutral pink. I suspect it has one of those color-changing ingredients b/c what comes out isn't even close to what it looks like. On another note, it smells like baby powder mixed w/ something unpleasant, and to be honest, I can tolerate any lip product as long as it smells good, and this one just doesn't cut it.

Lipstick -Cover Girl - TruShine Lipstick in Coral Shine 410
rated 3 of 5
eyecequeen 4/2/2010 6:56:00 PM

I purchased this lipstick a while back and didn't think much of it. Recently, I began using it again, and found that, while it doesn't exactly glide on smoothly directly from the tube, the texture on the lips is very creamy. The color itself, as seen in the tube, seems to be a coral with chunky glitter; on my lips, I just got a sheer orangy-coral color w/ barely any shimmer, rather than a sheen, that's not really flattering on my skin tone, but I do wear this when I don't feel like wearing the plain old neutrals.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick - Nude Attitude
rated 4 of 5
eyecequeen 3/10/2010 8:41:00 PM

I'm surprised about how low the ratings are for this lipstick, but it definitely requires work. I use it after I prep my lips first w/ a very thin coat of lip balm, then dab it on (if my lips aren't perfect and I swipe the lipstick, it gets cakey), and it's a very light concealer orangy-nude color, which cannot be worn on its own, but is a gorgeous nude lip paired with smokey eyes if I apply lip gloss. I'm glad that the drugstores finally came out with a lipstick like this, but the texture isn't smooth and creamy like most Revlon lipsticks, it's a little drying and the whole point of a matte lipstick is so the color has no shimmer/sheen, yet this lipstick can't be worn by itself, which ruins the purpose of a matte lipstick. Perhaps some people would be better off using a concealer as their nude lip, but ... I have two of these, and I'll definitely use these up. I recommend exfoliating the lips before application or else it looks very chunky.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational - Pink Please ] ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
eyecequeen 2/14/2010 9:03:00 PM

Originally, I intended to buy this b/c hollyannaeree reviewed this, and it looked like a gorgeous pale pinky color on her. Later, MichellePhan also used this in her tutorial, so I thought, why not? It seems to look good on both pale and tan skin tones. Boy was I wrong, I am somewhat pale, possibly not as pale as MichellePhan, but I think that there are inconsistencies w/ this lipstick. On hollyannaeree, it looked pale pink, on MichellePhan, it looked like a pale peach. On me, it looks like a unflattering medium pink w/ peach undertones. I actually exchanged this lipstick for another one in the same color at the same store b/c the one I bought initially seemed way to dark to be the ones shown on Youtube. Maybe it was the lighting, maybe I was expecting too much, but other than the texture and the packaging, I would pass up on this lipstick (or at least this color), b/c the scent seems to be playdou and the color is just ... Unflattering on me.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational - Born With It
rated 3 of 5
eyecequeen 2/14/2010 8:56:00 PM

I was quite disappointed with this lipstick. I originally purchased this b/c the bubblegumprincess on Youtube put this in one of her monthly favorite videos. It looked like a very nice light pink, which I love, since I am somewhat pale and dark colors don't complement my skintone. Anyhow, this lipstick is a light nude pink, it goes on somewhat chalky, and there are chunks of sparkle/glitter in it, more prominent when applied to the lips. I own two other lipsticks also from the ColorSensational line, Pink Please and Pink Petal, both cream finishes. I do like a frost finish, but this lipstick just had chunky glitter as opposed to shimmer that I prefer, which I think also contributes to the "chalkiness", as the other two I have are very creamy, though not always smooth on the lips if they're not exfoliated. Overall, I do think the ColorSensational lipsticks are worth a try (as long as you smell them beforehand, some of them have a horrid scent), but I wouldn't choose this one if you dislike glitter.

Toners -Neutrogena - Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Dual Action Toner [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
eyecequeen 2/12/2010 2:26:00 AM

This was my first toner, I like it very much, now that I've tried two others ones, also from Neutrogena. This one gives a cooling sensation, as some people say, "burn", but to me, it's just a slight tingly sensation (I don't have sensitive skin). A little bit of this goes a very long way, w/ the alcohol-free toner and the pore refining one, I have to "swish" the bottle 3-4 times in order to get enough toner to cover my whole face. With this one, I only need 1-2. I like using this to clean up whatever eye makeup my cleanser didn't get, it's very good at cleaning, but I don't see a huge difference in my pores, and it does irritate the eyes a bit, but I've gotten used to it over time. I would definitely recommend this, but I only use this in the morning just b/c I find that I sleep better when I use a non-tingly sensation one at night.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Hip Color Chrome Eyeliner Violet Volt 965
rated 4 of 5
eyecequeen 2/12/2010 12:47:00 AM

I was skeptic about this eyeliner at first, I know it probably glides on smooth and creamy, but that may be the downfall - usually my problem w/ eyeliner is smudging. Luckily, this didn't disappoint. I purchased this at $5 at my local CVS this one week when they had all L'Oreal eyeliners/shadows for $5, this is $10 retail, so of course I had to snatch it (and lets face it, who doesn't love purple?). Usually, I only line my tightline, b/c I have this weird small crease/monolid where when I look down, I look I have a very small crease, but if I look straight, I look like I have a monolid. Usually eyeliners smudge b/c of this feature, but this one actually didn't, it did have faint transfers like the previous reviewer said, but nothing dramatic. This did not work on my tightline/waterline AT ALL. I think it was just too soft to be able to hold onto that delicate piece of moisturized skin, but that's okay. It's very pigmented (it showed as plum/purple on my skin, not black like people said) when glided onto my upper lash line or lower, but really, don't get this if you want something to line the waterline, it's just not going to show up. Overall, the staying power's decent, this will work for people with oily lids, as long as you don't have a strange eyelid like me.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Carbon Black Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
eyecequeen 2/4/2010 10:00:00 PM

I first heard this on Youtube, and when I saw it on sale for $5 (around $9 retail), I snatched it. Unfortunately, people are right, this does have little product - I compared it to my Prestige liquid eyeliner, and it's about half of that. If used on a daily basis, I would run out quickly. Also, I think the applicator probably absorbs quite a bit of product so it probably dries easily too. I'm glad I tried this but ... Won't repurchase, hope to get the Revlon one soon :)

Eye Makeup Remover -Clean & Clear - Oil free Soothing Eye Makeup Remover
rated 4 of 5
eyecequeen 1/24/2010 10:44:00 PM

This is a decent eye makeup remover. I used it at my friend's house to remove my eyeshadow & eyeliner, it looked very clean after I removed it ... Until I washed my face. After I patted my face dry, I noticed there was still a little bit of eyeshadow on my lid and eyeliner smudges on my undereye, which is ridiculous b/c I have no idea where it could've come from. Apparently this leaves a little residue & doesn't take everything away. I would purchase this just b/c it's oil-free and it is quite inexpensive.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HIP Cream Shadow Paint in 807 Secretive
rated 5 of 5
eyecequeen 1/24/2010 3:02:00 AM

I'm surprised this product got less than a 4.0 rating. First off, this type of cream product is meant to be used in minimal portions, not so much to get the color to show up. I like this color b/c it's good for any look, I own Steely (a dark metallic gray) and Lofty (a shimmery champagne) and I love them both. They serve as great bases, no creasing after 8 hours. The only bad thing I would say about this is that it might make your lids look textured, seems to emphasize the fine line patterns (if that makes sense) in your skin, making your skin look older. But all in all, I LOVE this product, and I got all three of these off clearance at CVS for $2.99 each. Check your local CVS for these! I definitely recommend them if you can't afford higher end primers such as Urban Decay Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance, or even MAC Paint or MAC Paint Pot. I wouldn't buy it again b/c I don't think I'll be able to use this up in a short amount of time & by then I could probably afford the higher end primers.

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Special Eyes Eyeliner pencil in "Black Magic"
rated 3 of 5
eyecequeen 1/16/2010 3:48:00 PM

I'm surprised this eyeliner got such good reviews. This was the first eyeliner I bought, unexperienced with makeup at the time. Even though this says "black magic", it looked dark brown on my eyes. It doesn't glide on to the waterline or tightline very well, which I dislike b/c I have a very small crease, and I cannot line my top lash line without it smudging. It was very cheap though, I got it for less than $3 at Target, but honestly ... What good does a eyeliner do if it barely shows up & has low pigment? I'll stick with Revlon ColorStay or Ulta's waterproof eyeliner.
