Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Iconic High Definition Lash Curler Mascara
rated 1 of 5

This mascara does hold a strong curl and the formula applies on slick and smooth... but I keep applying it and it does not get any thicker and it gives me very pointy and hard looking lashes like sea urchin arms jutting out of the rims of my eyes. On top of that, it's so difficult to remove! I have very fine lashes and I subject them to such rough treatment when removing this mascara.

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Airflash

At first, I thought I found the best foundation for more elegant looks (I'm a daily mineral makeup user). The first week was fine, and I was happy to have a liquid foundation as weightless as mineral makeup. The airbrush look covered everything very well- I literally can't see a pore up close in the mirror. However, after a week, my very clear complexion (which has been clear for months) started to turn bumpy and rough with clogged pores and I had the biggest breakout in a long while. Though the first week of wearing was fine, soon the foundation afterwards became an oil slick mess. I really wanted to like this, but I think I'll be sticking to my Chanel Matte Lumiere for the days I need more makeup and the Chanel has never irritated my skin, budged after a whole day of wear, and can achieve a smooth look without looking fake. The color selection is also very poor for this foundation... it was a complete mistake to buy this.

Pressed Powders -Fresh - Face Luster

Since I am trying to use more natural products, such as MMU, my review of this is quite skewed. For the look and coverage it gives, this is a 5/5. It gives a wonderfully baby soft looking and glowing skin but I don't think it holds that well against oily skin. Based on the ingredients, however, I have discontinued using this. If ingredients aren't important to you, by all means go for this... it is a high performing powder.

Brows -Anastasia Of Beverly Hills - Anastasia Brow Powder
rated 5 of 5

I've always shied away from coloring in my eyebrows because it always ended up too dark or unnatural looking. My skin is quite fair and my eyebrows are sparse to the point where it's not really detectable in pictures. Finally, I found this perfect brow product... it fills in adequately without being too overpowering so it looks amazingly natural and the color is spot on. Finally, I have pretty eyebrows! Eyebrows is Anastasia's specialty so don't be hesitant to try this product!

Mascara -Chanel - Extracils Mascara
rated 5 of 5

I have been using this mascara for three years, and I still cannot find one that's better for me. I love it because it gives me very pretty jet black, lush and lengthy lashes WITHOUT THE CLUMPING. I don't care how voluminous or long a mascara can make my eyelashes... if it's clumpy, it's screaming messy mascara. I wear this with confidence because my lashes are slick.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose
rated 3 of 5

I purchased this twice because the first time, I thought I bought a lemon. I gave it the benefit of the doubt but it's not that great. Yes, it volumnizes but it's so clumpy! It sticks my lashes together and that's not a good look for my somewhat sparse asian lashes.

Powder -Prescriptives - All Skins Mineral Foundation spf 15
rated 5 of 5
everglow 10/5/2008 9:53:00 PM

This is my new HG foundation product. I've always been a liquid foundation type, and recently, I've been trying to switch over to mineral makeup. I've been trying everything from cheap brands like Jane to pricier ones like BE, Urban Decay, and Philosophy. Prescriptives takes the gold. I find many of the other brands I've tried to be far too glittery and/or pore-clogging. Prescriptives is slightly glittery because of the crystals, but it's really not obvious and is quite natural looking. The little sheen it does have enhances my complexion beautifully and my skin feels like it nothing on. It's also so easy and quick to apply on. I've never gotten so many compliments on my skin since I started wearing this. Love it.

Eye Shadow -Sonia Kashuk - Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
everglow 9/30/2008 7:06:00 PM

I purchased my first SK eyeshadow duo in stormy night and I am simply wowed. The deep shimmery grey silver and the cool silver goes on together so well with my dark honey brown eyes... and it lasts all day. The shadow is creamy and smooth and I love how easy it is to blend and I only need a bit of it. I definitely think that it is comparable to many high-end brands and for the price ($7.99 for this duo), it's worth it! The packaging is really nice to considering the price... everything about this product just seems like it's worth a lot more than it is selling for!

Liquid -Chanel - Mat Lumiere Long Lasting Luminous Matte Fluid Makeup SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
everglow 8/13/2008 12:13:00 PM

DPF was pretty much my HG foundation. After it got discontinued, I searched high and low for something that suited me just as well. I tried so many other high-end brands and I just keep going back to Chanel. This is my new HG... it's even better than DPF because DPF was a little bit too drying and heavy. For me, this is the only foundation that really feels amazingly comfortable on my skin, matches my skin tone (I'm Chinese) whether I'm pale from lack of sun or tanned after weeks of going to the beach daily... it's the only foundation that enhances my already good skin. Even when I was in Vietnam in the 110 degree F heat and heavy humidity, this foundation still made me look good. It didn't last the whole day in the tropical heat but it lasted well enough for me. I can't complain about the price because I'll pay the money for a product that works.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Benetint
rated 5 of 5
everglow 8/13/2008 11:52:00 AM

A daily staple product for me. I have great skin but I am rather pale and I often don't have the time or willpower to apply a full face of makeup so I just dab this on my cheeks and lips and viola, I look awake and good to go! The tint from The Body Shop is comparable to this product and it's a lot cheaper (over half the cost cheaper) but I prefer this one because the Benetint one gives a far more natural flush.

Lipstick -NARS - Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita
rated 5 of 5
everglow 8/13/2008 11:41:00 AM

For a long time, my lips remained plain until I found this. In the past, I don't wear anything but a bit of tint on my lips because I don't like having the feeling that something is there and I hate having to reapply things as well. When I found this, I was sold... I love the color- it's not too bold to be screaming "I'm wearing lipstick!" but it is also bold enough to shape and fill your lips into a beautiful pout. It's long lasting and you can't feel it's there too... it's no nonsense and so easy to apply... I definitely prefer it to lipsticks.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Light SPF10
rated 2 of 5
everglow 7/16/2008 8:18:00 PM

I have somewhat acne-prone and oily/combination skin. Aside from the old Chanel DPF, there wasn't a foundation my skin could tolerate often so I try not to wear foundation at all... and especially with the summer here, my skin is particularly reactive to foundation. For what the foundation aims for, I think it fulfills its purposes very well. It's not as matte as I had hoped for but instead it gives a natural and soft-powdery look, which is surprising given my oily skin and the hot weather. It lasts the whole day, I didn't need to touch up, and it does not rub off easily. One lippie off for the lack of range of colors... but nevertheless, a favorite light foundation for me! ***Update: It breaks me out... after weeks of using it, I noticed that my skin got progressively worse because of this. I consistently had little pimples or cysts form on my face when I normally have great skin. It's lightwear but I did not feel comfortable after a while because it really itched on my face. The color also changes easily to ash gray after a few hours turning me into a ghastly spectacle. Too bad... I really wanted to like it.

Fragrances -Stella McCartney - Stella- Eau de Parfum
rated 3 of 5
everglow 11/27/2007 5:35:00 PM

I'm not one to wear perfume often since I have yet to find one that can compliment me for everyday wear. Unfortunately, this is a bit too strong for me to wear everyday... but oh I do adore the scent. It is very warm and envelopes me like a comfortable blanket and I feel like being lulled to a soft cloud nine slumber. It's definitely very sensuous... I was afraid that this wouldn't suit me because I am more of a quirky, cute, and petite girl than a luscious vixen. But well, I'll be damned, once I put this on, I like exuding an oomph I didn't know I had in me. So I'll be whipping this out on the days that call for that kind of appeal. I don't want to overdo it by wearing it everyday! Otherwise, I much prefer something simpler and practical... for most days, the fresh scent of cleaned laundry will have to do. *UPDATE*... Ah... I tried and tried, but no matter how many times I've sprayed it on, it will not stay. In a matter of minutes it simply dissipates. This was not the impression the first time I used it. Sad.

I must second all the 5-star reviews here... it's a product I use everyday to give my cheeks and lips a natural healthy-looking red glow.

Pressed Powders -The Body Shop - Pressed Face Powder
rated 4 of 5
everglow 8/30/2007 6:07:00 PM

I purchased this product despite the horrible reviews here because I saw how it looked on my cousin= it gave her a subtle and pretty softness that I thought was naturally her skin. Granted, she had nice skin to begin with, but the powder made her skin look softer. We're both fair Asians, and I found the powder #04 to be a perfect match. I would only reccomend this for people who have good skin and want a softer glow to it. Otherwise, don't buy it because it's not going to cover up many imperfections. It's worth the price... it's considerably cheaper than the Chanel DP powder foundation I own... and personally, the DP wasn't much better for me. The fluid DP is another story (my HG foundation), but for a light powder, this is excellect- not perfect, but excellent.
