Sunscreen -Biore - UV Bright Face Milk SPF 50+
rated 5 of 5
equity 2/4/2012 8:31:00 PM

Combination skin with slight shine on forehead and nose.

This sunscreen gives SPF50+/ PA+++ UV protection. Gee, why did I even think of using other sunscreens? I used this, love it, and went around trying a whole bunch of other suncreens before returning to this.

This dries down to a powdery finish (as another reviewer put it) and dried in only a couple of minutes. While it left a slightly pinkish cast at the time of application, the cast went away with some blending.

The only thing I didn't quite like about the packaging was that you can't tell just how much product is left - but that comment would apply to many sunscreens as well.

The price is perfect too (about S$16). Will definitely buy again!

Cleansers -Biore - Cleansing Oil Cotton Facial Sheets
rated 2 of 5
equity 2/4/2012 8:25:00 PM

Biore describes this as being capable of removing "all traces of makeup easily- even waterproof mascara".

I was not quite sold.

While the sheets did quite a good job of removing eyeliner, blush and lipstick, I had to use quite a lot of swipes to remove foundation (and even then, I had to follow up with many rounds of toner before I could remove all traces of foundation, which defeats the whole purpose of using a makeup remover...).

This wasn't cheap (between S$13 to S$16 depending on where you buy it). I won't buy this again, although I know of others who love it.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorstay Soft and Smooth lipcolor in 345 Red Velvet
rated 5 of 5
equity 2/4/2012 8:17:00 PM

NC25/30 (yellow toned), black hair and dark brown eyes (Chinese). Combination skin with some shine on forehead and nose.

Shade - A matte red (with neutral/cool undertones). Very pigmented but not too bright/dark.

I loved this red lipstick - it brightens my face so much. It is too pigmented when I wear it straight from the lipstick (without any blotting), so how I wear it is to apply it direct to my lips, and blot over with tissue.

Staying powder was good. I only had to retouch after lunch (and even, only a little lipstick had worn off). Perfect for the price.

Powder -Shu Uemura - Face Architect Glow Enhancing Powder Foundation SPF26
rated 5 of 5
equity 2/4/2012 8:12:00 PM

C30 (yellow toned), black hair and dark brown eyes (Chinese). Combination skin with some shine on forehead and nose.

I've been wearing powder foundation for years, and after going so many, I think I have found my HG! PIty about the price tag, but I think it is worth it.

The staying powder was fairly good, and I only needed to touch up with some powder after 8 hours of use.

For reference, I am using GE964 (beige/slight yellow undertones). I usually have a problem with foundations being too chalky/white, but this blended into my skin.

BB Cream -Etude - Etude House Precious Mineral All Day Strong BB Cream
rated 4 of 5
equity 9/24/2011 11:26:00 PM

NC30 (yellow toned), black hair and dark brown eyes here.

I bought #2, which is a beigy shade with very, very slight pink undertones that is almost imperceptible.

Shades I took a half a lipstick off for the variety of shades (or lack thereof!). There are only two shades, and the lighter shade will be unwearable for most ladies.) This leaves a whitish cast initially but after a while it set in to match my skintone.

Effects of skin I've been using this for a couple of months now, and I don't see that much of an effect, but it is quite moisturizing so I'll buy this again.

Staying power Very good - lasts all day. I just need minor powder touchups during the day. Only problem is that it causes powder to slide off my face (or so I think), so regular touchups are necessary for me when I use this BB cream.

Update: I bought shade #3 - much, much better. It is a beigy shade which blends very well into my skintone.

Toners -Aqua Glycolic - Toner
rated 5 of 5
equity 3/14/2010 8:04:00 AM

I simply LOVE this toner. It has kept my skin clear for the longest time ever. I liked it so much that I bought 5 bottles of it from drugstore.com! This toner also got rid of some of my old acne scars (yay). I highly recommend this.

Skin type: I have combination skin (some oil on the t-zone, not much). I have minor acne on my left cheek which comes and goes, and some minor acne scars.

Fragrances -Crabtree & Evelyn - Freesia
rated 1 of 5
equity 4/26/2008 9:44:00 AM

I only have one word for Freesia - disappointing. The scent was great but it had absolutely no staying power at all! While the fragrance was full-on during the first 2 minutes, it stayed on for about 15 minutes before disappearing. Alas, this was so promising. :(

Shampoo -Crabtree & Evelyn - Aloe Vera Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
equity 4/26/2008 9:41:00 AM

I'm a little on the fence for this one. The scent is great and it made my hair look very shiny (which was great!). That said, the shampoo did make my hair feel rather dry too. While I might buy this shampoo again in the future, I'm at the moment not inclined to do so until I try something else. I'll probably try a few other shampoos before updating this review again.

Blush -Everyday Minerals - Sunday Brunch
rated 5 of 5
equity 4/20/2008 3:15:00 AM

Shade description
Raspberry sorbet. Matte finish (Official description from EDM website)

My description
Raspberry with a deep coral undertone

Texture
Easy to blend.

Comments
Sunday Brunch is a little like Girl's Day - both blushes are not as easy to wear as shades like All Smiles or Apple (or Siesta for that matter), but it has great potential as a blush if you're able to wear it carefully and correctly.

There's a warm coral undertone to Sunday Brunch which offsets its cool, raspberry-ess. Sunday Brunch is also not as matte as it looks - there's a slight, almost imperceptible shimmer to it which gives it a "glow".

This blush will suit a wide range of skintones. The only problem (if it's a problem at all!) is that it's very pigmented so it's easy to make mistakes.

I can see myself reaching out for this blush very often. :)

My coloring
Yellow-beige Chinese Asian NC35/40 with dark brown hair and very dark brown eyes.

Blush -Everyday Minerals - B and B
rated 5 of 5
equity 5/19/2007 9:14:00 AM

Shade description
Deep peach with soft fine sparkle. Shimmer finish. (Official description from EDM website)

My description
B&B is a dark peachy terracotta with shimmer.

Texture
Easy to blend.

Comments
B&B isn't as easy to wear as a shade like All Smiles or Apple, but it's a gorgeous blush if you're able to wear it correctly. It's very heavily pigmented, so you may have to apply it lightly. It gives a very healthy, happy glow - this is certainly one of EDM's most underrated blushes.

My coloring
Yellow-beige Chinese Asian NC40 with dark brown hair and very dark brown eyes.

Blush -Everyday Minerals - All Smiles
rated 5 of 5
equity 5/19/2007 9:07:00 AM

Shade description
Sherbert matte shade which brings out a wonderful fresh pinky-peach(Official description from EDM website)

My description
I seriously don't see any sherbert in this blush at all. All Smiles is a medium summery pink-peach.

Texture
Easy to blend.

Comments
I LOVE All Smiles. I have been reaching for this blush very often because it's so easy to apply. You can't go wrong with the colour too! I can imagine this looking good on a wide range of skin tones.

The shade on the EDM website is very different from the item in real life. All Smiles is pink with a very strong peach undertone. I cannot imagine anyone not liking this blush! =)

My coloring
Yellow-beige Chinese Asian NC40 with dark brown hair and very dark brown eyes.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in See Sheer
rated 5 of 5
equity 4/6/2007 12:12:00 PM

Shade description
Pinked grapefruit (official description from MAC. This description is fairly accurate.)

Texture
Lustre - smooth, glides on very easily. Easy to blend.

Comments
Oooh I love this! See Sheer reminds me of a beautiful tropical punch. It can be a little too bright though, so I prefer to tone it down by applying it with a lip brush. If you love corals or peaches, you must try this.

My coloring
Yellow-beige Chinese Asian NC40/42 with jet black hair and very dark brown eyes.

Fragrances -Yves Saint Laurent - Paris
rated 4 of 5
equity 3/18/2007 10:20:00 AM

I admit I am slightly on the fence with Paris (EDP). It's a very lovely powdery rose that's classy without smelling too "antique". The EDP version can be a little overpowering though. I'm taking away one lippie because it smells slightly too alcoholic. That said, anyone who loves rose scents must try Paris.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eyeliner Gel in New Weed
rated 5 of 5
equity 3/10/2007 10:20:00 AM

Shade description
Olive/khaki green with slight shimmer

Texture
Smooth, glides on very easily.

Comments
I cannot imagine anyone not loving this. New Weed is fabulous! It's a wonderful alternative to brown eyeliner. As another reviewer below mentioned, this is about the same shade as Milani's Antique Gold.

The staying power is rather good. I have oily lids, but it stayed on until the end of the day. The texture of this fluidline is definitely a plus point as well. I'm going to check out the other fluidlines soon. I hope they perform as well as New Weed!

My coloring
Yellow-beige Chinese Asian NC35 with jet black hair and very dark brown eyes.

Skincare - Face -MAC - Fix+
rated 5 of 5
equity 2/20/2007 8:25:00 AM

Comments: Now this is one product by MAC which has been overlooked far too often! I bought this in a 3-in-1 trial pack (MAC packaged a deluxe sample size of this together with a strobe undercover and a cleanse off oil). They should consider selling this in the same size I bought it in because it's so travel-friendly.

Fix+ is perfect for making makeup look less cakey and powdery. It adds a nice dewy shine without any trouble at all! Two spritzes and you are ready. At the moment I cannot comment on its ability to enable makeup to stay on longer but I'll update once I have an idea.

At US$15 this is a great buy - I'll definitely purchase this again once I run out.

Scent: Slight flowery scent.

My skin type: Combination (dry cheeks, undereyes) with slight shine on the T-zone.
