Brows -Alima - Blonde
rated 5 of 5
envirogeeky 1/4/2013 6:23:00 PM

I know this product is intended for brows but I use this for a daytime or natural eye look. I have fair skin, dark blue eyes, and dark hair and find that many brown eye shadows are too dark or muddy on me. Blonde is a perfect nude, golden, brown that really makes my eyes pop but looks totally natural. I pair this with Alima's satin matte eyeshadow in Vanilla and Lancome waterproof eyeliner in bronze. Blonde would also make a nice base shadow for medium or dark skin tones.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in New Lover
rated 5 of 5
envirogeeky 1/4/2013 5:54:00 PM

New Lover is the first NARS gloss pencil color I purchased and the color payoff, subtle enhancement, lovely texture, and long wear got me so addicted to these pencils I purchased Hopi (honey infused nude peach) and Happy Days (A rich pearly coral). New Lover really brightens the face with a pop of color and yet is not garish. It is a perfect warm gold infused pink shade that is subtle and makes the lips look fuller. This pencil is mosturizing yet stays on even after eating.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Curl Junkie Argan & Olive Oil Daily Hair Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
envirogeeky 1/4/2013 5:37:00 PM

I have type 2 wavy hair which is a mixture of 2a/2b/2c. I really love this conditioner in the winter as it has no cones, protein, or glycerin which tends to be drying on my hair at low dew points. This conditioner is very moisturizing yet light weight. I think it would be a better as a leave in for type 3 or 4 hair types than as a wash out conditioner. It has a wonderful blend of argan and coconut oils and has a tropical fragrance. This is one of my go to conditioners until May when I switch to something heavier.

Lip Liners -Rimmel - 1000 Kisses Stay-on Lip Contouring Pencil in 049 Natural
rated 5 of 5
envirogeeky 7/13/2012 8:48:00 PM

This lip liner pencil goes on creamy and lasts most of the day. This shade is a soft nude, peachy-pink, my lips but better shade that is perfect for day wear and summer.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Carol's Daughter Choclat Blow Drying Cream
rated 3 of 5
envirogeeky 7/13/2012 8:31:00 PM

I purchased this product in an attempt to blow dry my 2a/2b hair out to a more relaxed looking wave. The first time I used the product my hair turned out smooth and soft. The second time I used it my hair turned into a frizzy, dry looking hay stack. My hair tends to be protein sensitive and the using it the second time was a bit too much. For someone with fragile hair in need of strengthening or for someone who has hair that needs protein this may be a very effective product. I will say the ingredients were high quality and impressive and it smelled divine. I think this would work for someone with a different hair type, just not me.

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Baked Eyeshadow-ALL
rated 4 of 5
envirogeeky 7/13/2012 8:23:00 PM

I purchased this baked eyeshadow in Toasted which is a lovely, softly shimmering shade of medium bronze with a peachy cast. The shadow applies smoothly with a eyeshadow brush and lasts all day paired with the E.L.F. eyeshadow primer. It is not the most pigmented shadow and you really need to apply two layers or wet it to build more color intensity. I subtracted 1 lippie for that reason.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Curl Junkie Pattern Pusha Hair Gel
rated 5 of 5
envirogeeky 7/13/2012 8:15:00 PM

I recently decided to switch to a gel this summer to combat the frizzies that my type 2 a/b hair is prone to in the summer. It is challenging to find a gel that does not have silicone, protein, or glycerin which are all things that cause my hair to dry out and frizz. This gel comes in a generous sized pump bottle for easy application. The scent is light and pleasant. It gives my waves soft definition, is lightweight, and it does not leave my hair crunchy. It works pretty well to repel frizz too. The ingredients are chock full of good things like green tea, slippery elm bark, corn starch, and plant gums. There are no petrochemicals, protein, glycerin, silicones or alcohol in this gel. I really love this gel. I just scrunch my hair with a micro fiber towel, smooth on a nickel sized amount to my top layers, air dry 15 minutes then diffuse for 5 minutes and I get defined waves with no frizz.

Eyeliner -Revlon - Colorstay Eyeliner - Teal
rated 4 of 5
envirogeeky 7/13/2012 7:58:00 PM

This is a perfect eyeliner for summer. Colorstay eyeliners last all day on me paired with a primer like the E.L.F. one or UDP. This pencil is not totally waterproof and may fade slightly rather than run when you go in the pool or shower. It does not smudge and does not give you raccoon eyes even in the hottest weather. Some find that the pencil can dry out. This can happen if the cap is not totally flush as I have found out. Also, I sharpen this fairly frequently to keep it more creamy. This teal shade is a deep but vivid blue green and is far more wearable on most people than the bright turquoise that is being shown on the runways for summer. I have deep blue eyes, fair skin, and dark chestnut hair and this looks really nice on me with a soft bronze eyeshadow and a shimmery nude peach lip gloss.

Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Sultry Satin
rated 5 of 5
envirogeeky 7/13/2012 7:47:00 PM

This product is both a primer and an eyeshadow. I purchased this in Sultry Satin which is a soft candlelit sandy gold. It looks lighter than the photos. I love that it has a doe foot applicator for easy application. As for making my shadows last I think the hold was comparable to UDP and Too Faced Primers but this one is a total steal at 2.00 a piece on their website. This shade has a very eye brightening effect and is good for softening fine lines around the eyes. I intend to pick up the Coco Loco next which looks to be a soft taupe-cocoa.

Bronzers -E.L.F. - Baked Bronzer-ALL
rated 5 of 5
envirogeeky 7/13/2012 7:39:00 PM

I purchased the baked bronzer in San Lucia which is the lightest shade in the trio of brozers. This shade is is more of a light golden bronze shade which is more suitable for light to fair complexions. The finish is more of a satin finish than matte or shimmery. I am not really into looking tanned as it is not a good look for me but this bronzer makes an amazing eye shadow for day wear. This is my go to shadow for work or summer as it makes eyes pop in a very natural looking way. I layer this on top of the E.L.F. Primer eyeshadow in Sultry Satin which is a wet sand color that brightens the eyes up and makes the bronzer stay on my lids all day.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Dabur Vatika Hair Oil
rated 5 of 5
envirogeeky 5/25/2012 3:46:00 PM

This review is for the Vatika Enriched Coconut Oil. I purchased this at a Bangladeshi grocery store near my house but you can order it online for about 4 bucks and some change. I used this is a pre-shampoo treatment and leave it in overnight. I have fine hair but have a lot of it and it is wavy and sometimes prone to dryness on occasion. Using this oil from mid shaft down and leaving it in overnight then shampooing it out in the morning leaves my hair very soft and more manageable. The nice thing about coconut oil is that there are studies that have documented that it is one of the few hair oils that can actually penetrate the shaft of the hair and condition it, unlike mineral oil which sits on the surface of the hair. Coconut oil can help prevent protein loss that tends to occur from frequent washing with shampoos with detergents. Also the amla and henna add a nice gloss to the hair.

Eye Shadow -Alima - Luminous Shimmer Eyeshadow in Palamino
rated 5 of 5
envirogeeky 5/25/2012 3:37:00 PM

Alima makes very high quality mineral cosmetics with no talc or sillicones or skin irritants like bismuth oxychloride. I have been a fan of their satin mineral foundation for years. Palamino eye shadow is a lovely, softly shimmering shade of medium golden brown with a hint of bright bronze making it a perfect go to shade for daytime wear and spring and summer in particular. This shade makes a nice crease color for light to fair skins and would make a nice base color for darker complexions. The nice thing about this loose mineral powder is that if you tap the brush after dipping it and apply it doesn't spread chunks of glitter everywhere. I like to pair this with Urban Decay or Too Faced Shadow Primers. This color makes blue eyes really pop.

Lip Gloss -Sephora - Glossy Gloss Maple Syrup
rated 5 of 5
envirogeeky 5/25/2012 3:16:00 PM

Sephora collection lip glosses have a lovely slightly transparent texture. They go on smoothly, taste pleasant and slightly sweet, and are moisturizing. I only need to reapply after eating. I tend to use this over a long lasting lip stain like covergirl outlast or maybelline superstay in a nude shade. Maple syrup is a lovely shimmering beige color with a peach cast with a small bit of warm pink. It should look good on most skin tones and works well over top nude, peach, and coral lipsticks or lip stains. This is my HG gloss for everyday wear.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Bear Fruit Hair Desert Moisturizer & Leave-in Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
envirogeeky 3/4/2012 6:57:00 PM

I recently ran out of the "Yes to Cucumbers" leave-in which I adored which I think is discontinued. It is difficult to find a leave in that does not dry out my waves or make them flat in low dew point, winter weather. When the dew point is low any glycerin, silicones, proteins, and panethol will dry my hair out. It is a challenge to find a leave in without those things and sans petrochemicals. This leave in has none of those ingredients and contains wonderful moisturizing ingredients like: Aloe Vera Juice, BTMS, Cetearyl, Coconut Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Mango Butter, Palm Fruit Kernel Oil, Pistachio Oil, Preservative, Purified Water, Shea Butter, I love this leave-in. It moisturized my hair and gave me great curl formation yet did not weigh my hair down. The price is just over ten bucks which is reasonable considering all the plant oils and butters it has in it. I also spray in my Morroco Methods Sapphire Volumizing Mist conditioner on second day hair and then define with this leave in for lovely second day hair. <3

Treatments -Skin Biology - Skin Signals Serum
rated 5 of 5
envirogeeky 3/4/2012 6:45:00 PM

I have used Skin Biology products for about a decade and they make a big difference in my skin. The Skin Signals serum is excellent for preventing and reversing wrinkles, plumping the fat areas under the skin, and over all skin tightening. As a biologist I am impressed that Dr. Pickart has the science to back up his line of copper peptide products unlike most cosmetic companies who are not exactly rigorous in their testing methods. I purchased the skin signals cream for my mother and she loves it and told me that it has really lessened her lines and tightened up her face. I started her out on the Super GHK serum first, as it is always best to start out on a gentler Copper peptide first before using a stronger one like Skin Signals.
