Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Pure Ice Heart Breaker
rated 5 of 5

Pure Ice is my favorite nail polish of all time. (I currently have a collection.......) The smooth sheen delights me every time someone is almost blinded from looking at my fingernails. :) But seriously, it dries relatively quickly and the bottles look beautiful sitting on the counter. My favorite colors are Siren, All-Nighter and Outrageous. Siren is a bright sexy red and looks fantastic, while All-Nighter has more of a berry hue. Outrageous is a laid back mauve for my more shy, girly days. :) Seriously, every color is TERRIFIC and I recommend this nail polish above all others!

Cleansers -Mary Kay - Velocity Facial Cleanser
rated 5 of 5

Pretty expensive, but worth it. Does a better job preventing black heads then any other cleanser I've used, plus it exfoliates slightly and smells nice, too. Generally keeps skin relatively soft, but especially during the winter months (and for drier skin) the moisturizer is a good follow-up.

Lips -Cover Girl - Lip Slicks in Cutie
rated 4 of 5

Glides on easily and gives a nice hint of color and shine. I purchased this lip slick in "Flirtacious" and the sheer pink goes great with heavier eye-make up. Relatively inexpensive, and not sticky like most other lip sticks.

Liquid -Maybelline - Pure Makeup [DISCONTINUED]

Honestly, one of the better foundations I have ever used. I was first drawn in because it was the least expensive foundation I saw (a little under five bucks). However, when I got home and tried it, it turned out to match my skin tone far better than anything I have ever used. It doesn't dry out my skin, nor does it clog my pores. Amazing!!!

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Color Oops - Regular Strength Hair Color Remover
rated 3 of 5
english_nerd 7/24/2008 4:32:00 PM

This product did a pretty decent job removing the dark red color from my naturally blonde-brown hair. (Note: The color had already been in for a few weeks and was fading on its own, so I'm not sure how this works a day or two after dyeing. However, there was still a fair bit of color left to be removed- enough to show some very obvious roots, eugh!!) The main draw back to this product, other than the amount of time it took (almost forty minutes by the time it had sat processing, then been shampooed and rinsed the numerous times instructed) was the sulfurous stench. Like raw eggs- or maybe worse. Probably not a great idea to use this product in a small room if possible. I went into the bathroom the morning after and could still smell chemicals in the air. So if you dye your hair and it's beyond help, this is a good product: relatively cheap ($9.99) and effective. However, if it can be fixed with another color, or you're very sensitive to chemical smells, I would probably avoid Color Oops.

Eye Shadow -Mary Kate and Ashley - Eye Drama Powder Eye Color

This isn't the worst eyeshadow I've ever used, but it is far from the best. The color showed up well, (I bought "coffee") but the shadow falls all over the place and often has to be wiped off from underneath your eyes.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Lineworks Waterproof Liquid EyeLiner in Black
rated 5 of 5
english_nerd 5/25/2008 4:16:00 PM

I. LOVE. THIS. EYELINER!!!!! It applies in a smooth, even line better than any liquid liner I have ever tried. Mistakes are easily corrected with a q-tip, and it takes a lot of crying to smudge it. The effect is beautiful. I can't stand to go without it!! Definitely a buy again. In fact, I don't think I'd buy any other kind.

Eye Shadow -Mary Kate and Ashley - Illumineyes Shimmering Eye Color
rated 4 of 5

I own the "sparkling amethyst" shade and like it really well. The application wand takes a little getting used to, but once you're familiar with it it's pretty much fine. I like the smooth way the color is painted on, and the color itself is fetching. However, the main con to this product is that when it dries, it can sometimes be rather flaky and pale a bit. To keep the color darker, I just let the first coat dry a little before applying a second and that seemed to help keep that problem away.

Eye Shadow -Mary Kate and Ashley - Satin Shimmers Creamy Eyecolor

I. LOATHED. THIS. Okay, now that that is out of my system, I shall attempt to continue in a somewhat more civilized manner. When I bought the "wine and roses", or, purple palette, I didn't realized how incredibly sheer the colors would be. Even the darkest color hardly shows up and the shimmer is barely there. Fine if you were going for a natural effect. Not fine if you were buying something you intended to be purple. Also, the case was very hard to open. The only pro? Incredibly inexpensive.

Liquid -Maybelline - Superstay Silky foundation ]
rated 3 of 5
english_nerd 5/25/2008 4:02:00 PM

Maybelline wasn't kidding when they decided to call it "Super Stay". I was quite impressed by the length of time that this foundation stayed smooth and matte. I fell asleep in it one night and the next morning my skin still looked nearly flawless. Despite the lasting effect, I didn't notice a negative effect on my pores. The only downside to this foundation is, as other have said, if you have fair skin. I purchased the lightest shade and still found that I had to mix it was a bit of moisturizer to lighten up the color. However, this did not highly discourage me. It meant the make-up lasted a little longer and that my skin stayed soft as well as pretty.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Turbo Boost Waterproof
rated 4 of 5

I was impressed by this mascara. It does a nice job for day-to-day use, coats pretty evenly and definitely gives the lashes every appearance of being fuller. For a special event, I usually use an eyelash primer with it, and that looks fantastic.

Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Lip Stain - Cherry Tart
rated 2 of 5
english_nerd 5/25/2008 3:50:00 PM

I was very disappointed by this product. As many others have said, it was difficult to apply and the color was uneven. I also noticed that though it appeared red, the lipstain showed up more of a magenta color when applied. I thought the concept was a cool one, but the bleeding nature of the lipstain and the fact that the color was so difficult to even out even with your pinky made this one a waste of money.

Mascara -Maybelline - XXL volume+length microfiber mascara
rated 4 of 5
english_nerd 3/12/2008 11:00:00 PM

I got this mascara as a present in my Christmas stocking last year. In the past, I had mostly shied away from double coat mascaras because the majority of women I had spoken with didn't like them well. However, this stuff was amazing. Obviously, it's not the 100% fuller, longer nonsense that TV makes it out to be, but it defines and lengthens my eyelashes far better than anything else I had tried previously. The primer does a great job, yet makes the color take a little more time to apply in full than a traditional mascara does, but is worth a couple of additional strokes. However, I would not recommend using this mascara on your bottom lashes. I tried using the black side on my lower lashes and it smudged like there was no tomorrow, (and as this was water-proof mascara, I was rather irked) so I continued using my old mascara on the bottom line.
