Eye Shadow -MAC - Tempting (LUSTRE)
emwo12 4/6/2010 7:25:00 PM
I really really love Tempting. Its a warm brownish bronze with gold sparkle. While I typically agree that MAC Luster's suck, this one seems to be the exception for me. I don't get any fallout from this shadow and i LOVE the color. Some people have said that Go (from the first starflash collection) is a dupe for tempting with a better texture but I think its missing the gold sparkle that makes me love tempting so much. i just hit pan on this and plan on buying a new one as soon as it runs out.

Palettes -Urban Decay - Get Baked Palette [DISCONTINUED]
emwo12 1/19/2010 6:29:00 PM
I love any eyeshadow thats bronze/brown/gold so I jumped at the chance to get all three in a single package. I've never touched flipside, the bright teal, because I'm not really into wearing brightly colored eyeshadow. I'm also a little disappointed with twice baked (the dark brown), its a little chalky and hard to blend and has too much chunky glitter. However, baked, half baked and the bourbon 24/7 eyeliner make it completely worth it. Baked is a darker bronzey gold and Half Baked is a brighter, lighter gold. They are so beautiful and so incredibly soft and easy to blend. Bourbon is a shimmery bronze/brown eyeliner that looks great with my blue eyes. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
emwo12 1/19/2010 6:08:00 PM
I like this product a lot. A whole lot actually. They have such a wide range of colors that I was able to find a PERFECT match for my skin tone (#118)- this was a problem for me with the MUFE Mat Velvet+, I'm somewhere in between two shades but don't want to buy 2 and then have to mix them. The product itself is a relatively runny consistancy, which I find applies best when I use my fingers. It gives what I would call medium coverage and because of that I often use something with color, such as the MSFN to set it. It blends well, and I never have to worry that I'll have the dreaded line of demarcation because it seems to melt into my skin very nicely when I use my fingers. The only downside I can think of, and the reason that I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 is that it does need to be touched up over oily areas. For me, after a couple hours I need to touch up my nose, inner cheeks and sometimes my chin when I use this product even when I use my MSFN to set it. But the natural coverage that it gives is pretty hard to argue with even with this downfall. Currently I've been using MUFE HD on my whole face and then a teeny bit of MUFE Mat Velvet+ on my nose and cheeks which seems to give me a best of two worlds situation-just with a pretty hefty price tag.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dandelion
emwo12 1/19/2010 6:01:00 PM
On its own, this is far too light on my NW25/30 skintone. It barely shows up. I do, however, like to use this over other blushes. It makes any other blush look a little lighter/brighter, and it seems to set other blushes pretty well too. I especially like it over NARS Exhibit A when I get a little heavy handed and it looks too red, it softens the color quite nicely. Because it isn't really useful as a blush on its own, I said I wouldn't repurchase, but I'll enjoy using up the rest of it.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Coralista
emwo12 1/19/2010 5:54:00 PM
I really like this product and I don't use it nearly enough. Its the perfect peachy/pink color and in mine opinion is far superior to Nars Orgasm which I also own. Coralista is less shimmery, softer and easier to blend than Orgasm. I also think its cute that the powder itself is scented. I can't really describe the smell but its pleasent and not overbearing. While other people complain about the cardboard box packaging I don't really mind it. I'm not too hard on my makeup, usually it just sits on my shelf in between uses so I haven't had any problems with the packaging getting beat up. I have no idea what happened to the brush that it came with, however, because its pretty useless. Oh and last night I compared Nars Orgasm, Nars Deep Throat, MAC Dainty and Coralista. DT is peachier/darker than Coraista, Dainty is pinker. Orgasm is less pigmented and much more shimmery than Coralista. I would have to say that Coralista is my fav out of all of them.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
emwo12 1/19/2010 5:45:00 PM
I know people rave about Cetephil all the time but it just didn't work for me. I used to have acne prone skin but as I've gotten out of my teens its calmed down to just being a little oily. Since my skin has cleared up I decided that I wanted to switch over to less harsh face products to see if that helped to reduce some of the redness in my face which i think may be due to using so many chemicals on it. While using more natural products on my face has helped to reduce the redness, the Cetaphil wasn't a keeper for me. While it was gentle enough, I didn't feel like it got my face clean or got all the makeup off. I also felt like it left a residue on my face that I needed to wash off with another cleanser. Switched back to neturogena products without too many harsh acne fighting ingredients.

Blush -MAC - Beauty Powder in Eversun
emwo12 1/19/2010 5:36:00 PM
I really like this blush. Its a warm bronze color with a touch of pink. I use it more as a bronzer than a blush though. I usually use my 187 to put this from my apples up towards my temple and then use a pink/peach/red (EXHIBIT A, go check it out) on the apples of my cheeks. I think blush looks more natural as a bronzer in the winter when regular bronzers like laguna are a bit too tan for paler skin. To be honest I don't really care for the Style Warriors packaging but its functional so I didn't dock any points because really it doesn't matter what the packaging looks like as long as the product inside is good.

Styling Products -TiGi - Bead Head Dumb Blonde Smoothing Stuff
emwo12 1/18/2010 6:48:00 PM
I really like this product. I've been using Bed Head After Party for years and while I still love that, I got bored and wanted to try something new. I like how this stuff makes my hair feel, I like how it smells and I actually like the consistancy of this product better than the After Party, its thinner so you're not as likely to put too much in one spot. The only thing I really can't stand about this product is the container. Its super adorable but its kind of inconvient to use. Because the product is on the runnier side I'm nervous about dropping it when I'm unscrewing the cap, trying to dig some product out all while holding the lid. I think it would be better in a pump of some kind but till then I'll still repurchase.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes
emwo12 1/16/2010 6:20:00 PM
I have bought this product over and over again. In fact, I always have a spare pack in my medicine cabinent. For whatever reason I really hate washing my face and spend forever procrastinating doing so. These eliminate the need to wash my face. ever. They don't leave any sticky residue so I don't feel like I need to rewash my face after I use them. They get off all of my makeup and don't sting my eyes which are semi sensitive because I wear contacts. Love love love these.

Fragrances -Coty - Princess
emwo12 1/16/2010 6:08:00 PM
Ugh, this is such a generic fragrance. I used to shell out money for all of the "it" fragrances when I was in highschool/early college days. As I've gotten a little older I've started being attracted to more unique sents. I really don't like the idea of 20 other girls in a lecture hall wearing the same scent as me and don't like it when people know exactly what scent i'm wearing. The scent itself is nothing special either. Also, its pretty when I first put it on but dries down a little harsh for my tastes, but that could be due to my body chemistry. My vote is to skip fragraces like Princess because they're generic and expensive, there are a ton of less expensive yet super unique fragrances out there (try anthropologie, they have tons of really great scents for less than a department store).

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam V
emwo12 1/16/2010 5:15:00 PM
Hm. I"m really torn on this lipstick. I LOVE the color, the formula and the sheerness of it (i'm not much of a lipstick wearer so super opaque formulas scare me off) what I don't care for, is the shimmer. On me the gold shimmer is really noticable and deters me from wearing this lipstick. Like I said, I'm not really a lipstick wearer so if I am going to wear a lipstick I like it to be sheer enough and a good enough color match to my natural lips that I don't need to use a mirror to apply it (it just seems like so much work to go to the restroom everytime I want to touch up my lipstick), and the shimmer in this baby makes it look a little over the top if I'm not careful and don't use a mirror. I would not repurchase this because I don't use it often enough to justify the money again.

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Mat Velvet PLUS Matifying Foundation
emwo12 1/16/2010 5:07:00 PM
I really like this foundation. I had previously been using the MUFE HD foundation and while I really like that one as well, I found that it faded off of oily areas (nose, chin) faster than I wanted it to. When I switched to Mat Velvet the first thing I noticed was that its much stickyer than the HD. I have lots of foundation brushes but haven't used my MAC 190 in a long time, but have long back to it because its the only thing that will spread out this foundation. The only con that I can really think of is that I seem to use a lot more of this foundation than others. Gives a really nice coverage that lasts all day (seriously, even on my nose!) So far, I'm really loving this foundation

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
emwo12 1/3/2010 11:23:00 PM
I think I've bought this three times now due to its glowing reviews. However, its just not for me. I don't mind big brushes so thats not the problem, the formula just doesn't do to my lashes what other people say it does for thiers. I have long, very curled, but semi thin lashes so I look for very volumizing formulas. Lashblast did not provide the volume that I like they way that Diorshow, Diorshow Iconic and Faux Cils do. Disappointing because I would LOVE to find a more affordable alternative to my current expensive mascara vices but Lashblast is not it.

Bronzers -NARS - Laguna
emwo12 1/3/2010 11:09:00 PM
Love laguna bronzer! I have NW 25/30-ish skin and it looks really natural on me. Although it looks shimmery in the pan, I have never noticed the shimmer on my face. I use my 187 brush to apply in the 3/E motion on my face and it looks subtle, natural, pretty, exactly how i want it to look. I used to use Cargo bronzer and I prefer this one, as the Cargo one was easy to overdo and would make me look dirty as opposed to tan. Also important to note is that Laguna does not look orange on my whatsoever. Lasts a long time too-I hit pan on my months (a full year maybe?) ago, use it everyday and still have tons left.

Misc Beauty Tools -MAC - Brush Cleanser
emwo12 1/3/2010 11:05:00 PM
I love love love Mac brush cleanser. I wear eyeshadow everyday and do not have one of those enviable brush collections, I have plenty, but use most of the ones I have each time I do my make up. Thus, I need to clean my brushes pretty much everytime I use them. Mac brush cleanser does the trick so i have no need to try and find a "better one". I agree with others that the bottle is pretty annoying as it should be a spray top so you don't waste product. However, before I ever purchased the Mac brush cleanser, I used the sephora brand one (as I recall I didn't care for the smell) which did come in a spray bottle. So i just kept that one and pour the Mac cleanser into the sephora bottle. Doesnt' take but a second and truth be told I feel like I have more than I actually do. The sephora bottle only holds about half of the Mac cleanser at once, so it feels like I have twice as much because I can refill it twice. Its silly and I know it doens't actually have twice as much but thats the reason I dont' mind pouring it into a spray bottle.
