Blush -MAC - Mineralize Blush - Warm Soul
emmahlie 12/2/2012 7:09:00 PM
I'm very pale all year round, and finding cosmetics especially foundations and powders is often something of a mission. Thankfully, MAC understands and literally has something for everyone. I was browsing around looking for a new blusher, browsing the pinks and corals as I couldn't imagine putting on something darker when I'm so pale. One of the SA's came over and asked if they could help and I explained I was looking for an everyday natural blusher, when they returned with Warm Soul I looked at them as if they were crazy, but let them demonstrate anyway and I am so glad I did. This is one of the most flattering blushers I've ever used, and nothing I would have ever picked out on my own due to the colour it appears to be. When applied it gives me a really pleasant glow that is just right for everyday. I don't think its possible to go wrong with this product.

Conditioner -Alberto Vo5 - Strawberries & Cream smoothing conditioner
emmahlie 12/2/2012 7:02:00 PM
I loved this when I first found it, I bought both the shampoo and the conditioner and used religiously for months. At first it was great, really smoothing and conditioned my hair well, unfortunately this didn't last forever. I'm not sure if it was a change in formula or I just personally stopped reacting well to it, but the fragrance seemed much more synthetic and the texture of the conditioner changed too. As well as this my scalp HATED me for using this and became so dry and sore that I had to use prescription shampoo for a while to make it better. It's alright if you're stuck, but definitely not a long term staple.

Lip Treatments -Carmex - Cherry Tube
emmahlie 12/2/2012 10:42:00 AM
I've used regular Carmex before and loved everything about it, so when I saw this for £1.90 I thought I was getting a bargain. I don't even know where to start, the smell is okay when you're not wearing it, but when it's on your lips it is so so sickening I wiped it off my lips straight away. It left me with this nauseous feeling for a while after making me wonder what is even in that lip balm, as usually i'm a huge fan of Carmex. It didn't really do much to moisturise either, it was just sort of a greasy film on my lips. Will be going back to my Clarins lip and contour straight away.

Shampoo -The Body Shop - Ginger Shampoo Normal/Dry hair and Loose Dandruff
emmahlie 12/1/2012 3:32:00 PM
It's fair to say this shampoo is a miracle. After all the years I've been searching for a shampoo (and all the money wasted) I feel like I may just have found my holy grail shampoo. Recently I've been using the Liz Earle shampoo, and although natural, and really nourishing it didn't have any ability to get rid of dandruff which bugged me as my new soft hair was tainted by those evil white flakes. I found a review on this and decided next time I was passing a Body Shop I would pop in and buy it, between the small bottle and this I chose the bigger one as it was only £6.50 (not too expensive compared to some high end shampoos, and worth it as you only need a blob about the size of a 10p coin. Since using this my hair has been soft, shiny and flake-free. Fingers crossed that as long as I have this shampoo that doesn't change. Will be buying this for as long as I can.

Mascara -Rimmel - Glam'eyes lash flirt
emmahlie 12/1/2012 12:11:00 PM
I really wanted to like this mascara, but I just couldn't. The packaging is probably the nicest thing about it with the gold textured lid but the brush was just awful. I don't like rubber comb brushes and prefer bristles as I feel they coat my lashes better. One thing I found always happening was when putting the brush back in the bottle it would bend and flick out, getting mascara on my hand, irritating when you're in a rush. Overall it doesn't make much of a difference on my eyelashes. I prefer a thicker finish and this just didn't provide it unfortunately. I won't be buying again.

Lip Treatments -MAC - Tinted Lip Conditioner - Petting Pink
emmahlie 12/1/2012 12:04:00 PM
This was one of the first products I ever bought from MAC, and I've been hooked ever since. The best thing about this is it lasts forever, which is great value for money in my opinion for what you get. Last time I purchase this it was around £10, but may have gone up since then. Although a lot for a lip balm it's a total essential in winter and I don't feel like I have to keep reapplying it every few minutes like I do with other lip balms (sorry Chapstick, it's not you - it's me). The smell is so lovely, it's like a vanilla fragrance but not too sweet by any means. Also, knowing it has the SPF 15 makes it great for use all year round, and good for use in the long run. The colour isn't deep, just a pinky sheen. Sometimes I use this over my lipstick to moisturise and it works great still. Definitely buy again!

Shampoo -Liz Earle - Botanical Shine Shampoo
emmahlie 12/1/2012 11:56:00 AM
I look forward to washing my hair knowing I get to use this in the shower. Compared to some natural shampoos this had a really nice fragrance, like my shower was filled with essential oils. One thing that impressed me was the lather as I wasn't expecting it to be so creamy but it was. You need only a blob about the size of a 10p coin, which works great on my shoulder length hair. I suffer with dry scalp, especially in the winter, and although this doesn't get rid of the flakes (i'm still searching for something that will) it does make my hair and scalp feel clean and soft, and not itchy either. I think the price is actually quite reasonable, as you don't need as much for a good wash, and the 200ml bottle barely feels like I've made a dent in it and I've had it a few weeks and I frequently wash my hair. So a little goes a long way. Will definitely repurchase.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Hemp Hand Protector
emmahlie 12/1/2012 11:42:00 AM
I cannot praise this cream enough. I bought it because I was looking for a good hand cream as the winter is settling in and it makes my skin so dry and irritated. I remembered this cream being around the house as a child as my Dad would use it, and if it was good enough for him then it's good enough for me. This comes in a 100ml tube made of Aluminium, and also a tub version is available (not sure what amount). I chose the tube because I don't really like tubs for hygiene reasons. The first thing I noticed about this cream is how thick it is, but a little definitely goes a long way - I think the thickness is a bonus as many hand creams are so liquid that you easily use to much and it goes to waste. I didn't find this greasy at all, and my skin instantly felt better. A lot of people complained about the smell, which I actually enjoy as it's quite herbal. If you're looking for a feminine fragrant hand cream then you may want to sample this yourself before buying, but the smell really isn't too noticeable I don't think. It's a preference thing really. Overall I can't praise this enough and I will be buying again, and again.
