Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Crystal Body Deodorant Stick
elwoods17 4/4/2012 7:04:00 PM
Today is my first day to use this Crystal Rock Deodorant so it may be a but soon to review but I love it already and had to post! I have tried to many deodorants under the sun: Secret Clinical Strength, Mitchum Power Clear Gel, regular Secret, Dove (many kinds), Tom's of Maine, and this crystal rock is the my fav! It just completely gets rid of that funky smell that deodorant mixed with perspiration makes. I think a lot of deodorants just combine with sweat and make a gross mix of a scented smell with B.O. Eww! I am pretty outdoorsy and work out quite a bit. Today I went for a two hour walk with my dogs, cleaned my house, went on another jog, ran some errands, and smell like I just got out of the shower. No funky B.O. smell. It feels like it is a waste of money at first because you really have to rub it on with water and you don't feel anything. I put it on right after I get out of the shower while underarms still damp. I swipe about 20x (that sounds like a lot but it isn't really). I figure this keeps me good all day. I also have a problem with many deodorants making my underarms itchy! I hope this relieves that problem. Very happy to have found this and A+ for no aluminum. I read an article that stated that deodorant is found in many tumors. Gross.

Lips -Maybelline - Color Sensational Lipstain
elwoods17 1/12/2012 4:20:00 PM
Update:Do not buy! This lasted me literally 5 days! Then dried out and I had to throw away. Waste of $. I may buy this product again. I picked this up at Ulta for half price. It was in the clearance section. I got it in the color Blushing which looks like my lips but bitten and rosy! It almost looks a bit like a wine color stain, which I LOVE. I have olive latina skin and this color looks very natural on me but brightens my whole face up. I mean you can tell I have some color on my lips but nothing obvious. I layer on top my vegan lip balm with olive oil so that may account for it not lasting so long. I apply every 3 hours and I think that is pretty good! I like using the stain instead of a lipstick because it feels less thick on my lips and also lasts longer. I would suggest this for anyone who is looking for something similar.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Lots of Lashes
elwoods17 12/8/2011 10:46:00 PM
I bought this item because I thought the funny little shape of the wand would be great. Wrong. It just clumps my lashes and does not aid in separating them. It also take quite a while to put on. This is because the brush is so eetsy bitsy that you have to do the lashes in like 3 sections. I do not recommend.

Love this product! Would you believe it has replaced my YSL Touche Eclat?! Great light coverage. Looks sooo natural. Feels good too under my eyes. Like it is waking them up! Highly recommend! I am olive skinned Latina for reference.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Confetti #013 Pink Paradise
elwoods17 8/2/2011 10:33:00 PM
Best $1.99 I ever spent on nail polish! Who would have thought this cheap nail polish works way better and looks better than the high end brands: OPI, Orly, Essie. I have tried them all in search of the perfect pale pink for my skintone (olive medium). This Confetti polish goes on smooth and in two coats is still a sheer but slightly opaque pale pink. Best of all, it dries super fast! I was fed up with Essie and OPI. I literally had to wait almost an hour for it dry it seemed and I am so busy I could never wait that long and ended up nicking my nails before they dried. Highly recommend this line of polish. Tip: I did add a few drops of Essie Minimalistic (completely opaque white pink) to the Confetti Pink Paradise. Now is the perfect color for moi! :)

Shampoo -Rusk - Clarify Shampoo
elwoods17 7/18/2011 11:29:00 PM
My hair has been so oily and greasy in this hot Texas summer. I also use silicone products to smooth frizz before I blow dry. That said, my hair was looking so gross. It would get greasy by the end of the day. So, someone on MUA gave me a sample of this. It cleared up all the gunk from my styling products and my hair felt light and bouncy! The oily roots are more at bay for longer with use of this shampoo. I love the lavender color and the fact it has soothing rosemary extract in it. Definitely recommend!

Powder -Too Faced - AMAZING FACE SPF FOUNDATION
elwoods17 6/6/2011 12:15:00 PM
I have tried probably every single powder foundation out there after my HG Anna Sui powdery foundation being discontinued. That said, I have been trying three kinds out this one Too Faced in Honey Beige, MUFE in 203, and Benefit Hello Flawless in Petal. I keep going back to this one! The color is a great match for my olive skin tone and especially with the summer right now I love that it has SPF in it! It goes on so smooth. It does not look chalky, which is my main complaint about Hello Flawless (soooo chalky!) and MUFE. MUFE packaging is horrible and rinky dink. Actually broke. I am going to return the Benefit and get another one of these because it is so great! I have oily skin and prone to pore clogging which leads to breakout. This powder does not beak me out at all. In fact, it seems to almost calm my skin. Must have some kind of natural ingredients that do this. I love it! Don't ever discontinue this please Too Faced!!! Finally I found a NEW HG!! :)

Liquid -Neutrogena - Skin Clearing Oil-Free Makeup
elwoods17 4/12/2011 11:53:00 AM
I always come back to this foundation. I have tried higher end fdtns like MUFE Mat Velvet, Lancome Teint Idole, etc. but this foundation is the only one that looks so natural and the color is spot on. I have medium olive skin tone and it is very hard to find drugstore foundations with yellow undertones. Most have pink undertones. I wear this in color Natural Beige. Sometimes if I am lighter and it is winter I will buy a lighter shade and mix it accordingly with my Natural Beige. Best of all it feels great on skin. It does not feel masky. My skin can actually breath. I cover with powder foundation too though bc it does have light to medium coverage. You will not get full coverage with this. I highly recommend this foundation for oily, sensitive but prone to break out skin! The 2% salcyclic acid is great! It does keep my skin clear. Most foundations break me out.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Lacquer Shine - Glossy
elwoods17 1/3/2011 11:22:00 AM
Wow what a gorgeous color!! Sally Hansen is really coming up with some awesome colors that rival OPI, Orly, China Glaze, Essie, etc. This color is definitely one of those. It is a vampy dark black/plum/ with tiny red shimmers. Very classy, rich, and yes glossy looking! Loving it!!

Powder -Make Up For Ever - Duo Mat Powder foundation
elwoods17 11/11/2010 12:48:00 PM
update: This is so not worth the money. The compact is flimsy and actually broke. The part that hold the powder just broke off when I opened it. The mirror that comes with it is a little half moon shape. Can't even see whole face. The sponge is awful and just soaks up the powder. And as for the actual powder I will say the color match is excellent but it gives the coverage of a pressed powder and can look very chalky! Also...it doesnt last at all!!! See my review for Too Faced Amazing Face Powder Foundation. Soooo much better and worth the money. I have oily skin and olive skin tone fyi. I wore this in 203 and Too Faced in Honey Beige. I know I gave this a "mediocre" rating and yet I will still buy it again! Alas, after my HG powder foundation by Anna Sui was discontinued (and I bought up all the ones on ebay remaining!) I had to find a new powder foundation. For reference I have oily skin, minimal breakouts, am 27, with olive Latina skin tone. So, I tried several powder fdts before I bought this one. I tried: Stila IPF and mark Buff Skin. Did not like either bc hardly gave any coverage. The Stila looked chalky. So, I like this powder foundation because it gives excellent coverage. I apply with the sponge if I want more coverage. It does look so powdery though after applied so I have to spritz with spring water in a bottle (or can use Mac Fixx) to get rid of that powdery look after applied. I do like this also because for yellow undertones/olive skin it is the best I have found for complementing those yellow undertones. It is a very good match in color and makes the face look nice and even toned. It also seems to last awhile and I do not need to reapply at all! I just use an oil blotter and dab my oily areas like powder maybe once a day. So, I do not like the packaging bc it is a flip compact with the sponge under it. All in all, it will do.

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Mat Velvet PLUS Matifying Foundation
elwoods17 11/6/2010 2:21:00 PM
I tried to like this because I have been wanting to try it out for so long! Unfortunately, I do not like it at all and am returning it to Sephora. I have oily/combo skin and with the change in season my skin is a bit dehydrated. This foundation actually emphasized the small little flakes I had on my face, even after exfoilating! It also is a little too full coverage for me. I feel like I am wearing a mask. I don't like it. I am going to stick with my Neutrogena Skin Clearing Make-up! Drugstore but so much better than this! For reference, I have light to medium olive skin tone, I am a MAC nc35, and I got this shade in 35.

Powder -Stila - Illuminating Powder Foundation
elwoods17 11/5/2010 5:33:00 PM
Horrible. Chalky. Accentuates any little flake I have. The color selection is not good either. I was 40 watts and I am MAC NC 35 and it was too white but then the next color 50 watts was too dark! Will not be repurchasing. I miss my old Anna Sui powder foundation that has been discontinued.

Brows -New York Color - Browser in Brunette

So I overbleached and overtweezed my eyebrows...ahhh! So, I ran to CVS to try this stuff out. It works great! It is so natural looking. The little brush is so great for applying. I like to put the wax on first and then coat over it with the powder. I really like this stuff and it is so cheap! :)

Moisturizers -Clarins - Multi-Active Day Cream *new formula*
elwoods17 11/2/2010 11:42:00 AM
I am really loving this cream. I was hesitant to use it because I have oily skin. However, with the change in climate from summer to fall my skin is getting dry, but still oily. So, I opened this cream up and applied. I apply it at night because it is too heavy for me for during the day. The next morning my skin was supple and felt so hydrated and not oily! This cream does not clog pores. It is so calming and hydrating. I like the clean and feminine smell too. The jar looks pretty next to my perfumes too. Definitely recommend!!!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Lemon Juice
elwoods17 8/24/2010 3:04:00 PM
Wow! I wish I had discovered this sooner! I have been using a vitamic C serum and I really liked the effect I was getting with it. It really evens skin tone and makes face look brighter! But serums can be so expensive! I paid 30 bucks for a small .5 oz bottle of Ole Henriksen Truth Serum! So, I thought why not use a fruit that is packed with vitamin C on my face? From my reading, I hear that vitamin c is very hard to keep bottled and fresh bc it looses its effect when not fresh so really it makes sense to make your own. I made a little bottle of lemon juice (from fresh squeezed lemons) and diluted it with fresh spring water. The ratio is 2 parts lemon juice and 1 part water. I wash my face and then put some on my clean hand and run into skin on face. Then I put on my face lotion. I have been doing this about 3 to 4 times a week for 2 weeks now (morning and sometimes night). My face is brighter and some dark spots I had have lightened! I don't need to wear foundation to even the area out around my nose and chin. :) Highly recommend this great home remedy!
