Styling Products -Matrix - Sleek Look Water-Free Hairspray

This stuff smells so bad! It's hard to describe it--kind of metallic-like--I'm not sure. I do agree with others that this gives a fairly good medium hold but I'm not purchasing this again. STINKY!

Makeup Brushes -L'Oreal - Concealer Brush

DEFINITE HG! I had been using a BE brush which is smaller in size than this one. This really helps the concealer go on smoothly and blend beautifully. LOVE IT!

Concealers -Rimmel - Hydrasense Flawless Concealer
elsangalang 1/4/2005 9:35:00 PM
Just an average concealer, but one of the best matches so far to my Asian coloring. The one I got is more on the beige side, it's not at all pinky or peachy like some concealers. I agree with another MUAer about how annoying it is that the letters on the tube wear off. I don't even know which color I got! Coverage is not the greatest so it's best used on someone with better skin, less age spots than me. Covering my dark circles results in an OK performance, but does get kind of cakey if re-applied. It also settles into the fine lines I have under my eyes. It's definitely better than Revlon's Colorstay which is WAY more cakey and difficult to blend. When I apply Hydrasense under my eyes with my Loreal concealer brush (love it!) I get a better coverage and smoother look. I'm still on the hunt...

Misc Beauty Tools -Japonesque - Precision Lash Curler
elsangalang 1/3/2005 9:42:00 PM
I highly recommend this! I had been using Revlon's which would pinch my eye no matter how hard I tried not to. I have small Asian eyes and short, almost non-existent lashes. This really curls them well and the curl lasts all day! It is small, but with practice I'm able to successfully curl my lashes in 3 sections. I hold it there each time for about 3-5 seconds and whalah--nicely curled lashes ready for my Loreal double-extend mascara. I don't even have a need to curl them a second time like I had to w/my Revlon curler. It also comes with a replacement pad and has a 1-800 number to call for more replacement pads if needed. Go out and buy this today!

Eye Shadow -Jane - Eye Zing in Sun gloss
elsangalang 1/3/2005 9:29:00 PM
An average pinky-shimmery champagne color and may be too frosty to wear as a wash. I can see how this would blend well with alot of neutral eyeshadows for a pretty daytime look.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Marooned
elsangalang 1/3/2005 9:18:00 PM
Another great recommendation from MUAers. When I first looked at it in Ulta, I was a little apprehensive about the color. I thought it might be too dark when applied. But this is a truly beautiful color, sort of a burgundy-brown shade, good for the crease area and using as an e/l. Not too dark, blends easily and lasts all day. No creasing either! I LOVE milani e/s!!!

Crème -L'Oreal - Feel Naturale Light Softening One-Step Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
elsangalang 1/3/2005 8:58:00 PM
I guess you either really love this product or you hate it. I personally love it! I use it in "Buff" and it gives me a nice, natural caramel color to my Asian skin tone. I do, however, use a s/t so that this color matches it perfectly. It's not orange on me and feels more on the silky smooth side, blends very nicely. I don't have dry skin even in the winter and I can see how this wouldn't work well with dry skin. I have combination skin and have not experienced any dryness or flakiness. I especially like the fact that it has spf 15 to protect my 36-year old aging skin!

Fragrances -Suds and Light - Pink Sugar Roll-On
elsangalang 12/28/2004 10:37:00 PM
It never fails...EVERY time I wear this someone is always commenting on how good I smell. One of my co-workers thought that someone was burning a vanilla scented candle! Initially when I roll it on, I smell a slightly lemony-sweet scent which then dries down to more of a vanilla scent. I definitely plan on trying the body mist in Pink Sugar as well as other scents recommended by MUAers. I only had to wait about a week to receive mine. I ordered it about 2 weeks before Christmas too! UPDATE: I've taken off lippies b/c this roll-on scent does not last long at all! Though it smells great and I do get compliments, it only lasts a few hours on me. From the recs it sounds like the body mist lasts longer.

Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime Bronze
elsangalang 12/12/2004 11:17:00 PM
FINALLY! I've found my HG! I'm a fair yellow-undertoned Asian and it is so hard to find a s/t that doesn't make me look orange. THIS IS THE BEST by far of any s/t I've used (and I've tried just about all of them). I bought the lotion (not tinted) in Deep. It also has SPF15 and Vit. E and goes on so smoothly and makes my skin feel like silk. With only one application I was able to achieve a very nice caramel color to my whole entire body, including my face. NO STREAKS WHATSOEVER! The trick is to put a light layer on and then put a layer of nice-smelling body lotion over the s/t(I use Neutrogena sesame lotion)on certain parts that tend to splotch the most (ie. my entire face, neck, armpits, inner/outer elbows, knees, feet). After that, I wash my hands really good, dry them and then apply a thin film of s/t on the backs of my hands with Kleenex. Then I apply a layer of lotion over that with Kleenex (esp. near the wrists) again so my palms don't turn orange and WOW! The results have me looking like I just got back from a tropical vacation. There is about a 5-min. drying time and the beautiful color develops in about an hour. I have a feeling that the gel, not the lotion is the one that takes awhile to dry and feels more sticky. This has a pleasant scent initially, but then turns into that familiar chemical smell. I don't mind though b/c I always do my s/t ritual before I take a shower at night. I only have to re-apply one to two times a week and the fading process is not scaly or in patches. I love this especially in the winter b/c it keeps me from looking pale and haggard. It's not an obnoxious tan color, just a nice caramel color. I will ALWAYS re-purchase this b/c it's perfect!

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Wet/Dry Shadow Quad - Silver Lining
elsangalang 12/7/2004 11:48:00 PM
Not a true black smoky eye on me. More of a darkish-blue shade. It does glide on smoothly, but I use a brush, not the sponge applicator. It is long-lasting as well. I will be trying more Revlon e/s but these particular shades did not do anything for me. For a truly darker, more black smoky eye, check out Milani e/s in Storm--my HG!

Eye Shadow -Milani - Rich Chocolate
elsangalang 12/7/2004 11:24:00 PM
LOVE this dark chocolate brown e/s! It looks great in the crease of my smaller Asian eyes and gives me a "smoldering" look. Can't say enough about these wonderful e/s and can't wait to try more shades.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Storm(#11)
elsangalang 12/7/2004 11:21:00 PM
YAHOO! I've finally found my HG e/s for PERFECT smoky eyes! I had been using Jane's "Clubbing" (blackish silvery-blue when on) as well as Revlon's quad in "Silver Lining" (more of a dark blue than black). You do need to use a light hand for this particular shade and it would best be worn for a night out. I'm SO thrilled with Milani e/s! They have great long-lasting pigment and go on very smoothly. I will DEFINITELY be purchasing MANY more of these.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara Waterproof
elsangalang 12/6/2004 11:27:00 PM
I plan on returning this mascara if I can't find a good eye m/u remover. Although it did a good job of giving a more natural lash, it was an absolute PAIN to try to remove with my Almay eye pads. And I don't want to aggravate that delicate eye area. I took out a few lashes in the midst of trying hopelessly to remove this stuff.

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Body Oil with Sesame
elsangalang 12/3/2004 11:52:00 PM
Do you want baby soft, irresistably touchable skin? How about a sexy sheen to your body?Well, this is the stuff you need to go out and BUY NOW! I absolutely LOVE this oil as well as the sesame lotion. The scent is heavenly! I shower before I go to bed and put this stuff on right when I get out while my skin is still damp. The oil has quite a watery texture so the key to not letting the oil run through your fingers is to mix it in your hands with the sesame lotion before slathering it all on. I find this works great and there's no mess to clean up off the floor. I love the light oil texture that sinks immediately into your skin. It doesn't ever leave that dreaded greasy/sticky feeling. My husband says he can't stop touching me when we go to bed at night! He says my skin just feels so silky smooth. Can't beat that! I got HUGE 32oz. pump bottles at Ulta for only $9.99 each! This is an HG staple for me most definitely.

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Vinyl Lip - Eastend Snob
elsangalang 12/3/2004 11:05:00 PM
This is such a beautiful peachy-pink nude l/g that I'm so in love with! I find myself wearing it almost everyday b/c I just love the natural nude J-LO look that it gives. I don't have very pigmented lips, so this pinky nude looks so much better on me than Revlon's S/L l/g in "Nude Lustre". That one made my lips look peachy-orangey. I find that with my coloring I look best in pink nudes rather than beige nudes. I love the consistency of this l/g--it's a little thinner than most l/g, but I prefer it that way. I don't like thick, gloopy, sticky glosses. So, I'm excited to try more colors!
