Shampoo -Wen by Chaz Dean - Cleansing Conditioners - All
elpee 7/9/2012 2:42:00 PM
My hair is kinky curly african american hair. It tends to be frizzy. The type is 3c/4a and it's about bra strap length. Because of my tight curls and frizz issues, I only shampoo with a sulfate free product once every two weeks. Every few days however, I "wash" my hair with my favorite conditioner. All that being said, I tried Wen Coconut Mango cleanser two weeks ago. Loved the smell and I did like my hair after. It was soft, very low frizz and my braidout, in conjunction with a spritz of aloe vera juice and creamy leave in conditioner, gave me nice curl definition. However, it didn't do anything different for me than my normal conditioner wash. In my opinion, Wen is just conditioner - you can get similar results by washing your hair with any really creamy conditioner. The price is high for what you get so though I like it, I wouldn't buy it again.

Mascara -Revlon - Beyond Natural Mascara [DISCONTINUED]
elpee 6/30/2010 3:47:00 PM
I can only find this product in New York at discount cosmetic stores because they've discontinued it. The mascara is great but I think it's the brush that really makes the difference. It really defines my lashes and the black/brown color is not too dark, but dark enough. I also wish they would bring it back because I like it better than the infamous Maybelline Great Lash, which was my previous favorite. If you can find it, load up. This mascara is one of the best for the price.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Organic Root Stimulator - Replenishing Pak

I tried this product and YES - I have found my new deep conditioner. After a normal shampoo, I put a whole pack on my hair, covered with a plastic cap for an hour (no heat) and rinsed thoroughly with warm water. I didn't experience any issues with rinsing it out and my hair didn't feel coated at all - just really soft. I am transitioning from relaxed to natural (curly) hair and so have two different textures to deal with. I blow dried and used a curling iron and my hair was so soft and bouncy that I felt like I had just come out of a salon. I'm on the third day after and my hair is still shiny and a dream to work with. I highly recommend this and suggest that you use it as a true deep conditioner and leave it on for the recommended time in order to experience the true benefits. Excellent product!

Treatments -Pantene - Deep Fortifying Treatment
elpee 11/13/2009 5:02:00 PM
This is by far one of the best conditioners I have ever used. I have thin chemically relaxed hair and it works wonders on my hair. I tried it on a whim and now it is very difficult to find. I hope it's not going out of production, because it really has changed the feel and look of my hair. It isn't heavy or greasy and rinses clean away. My hair is very shiny and smells wonderful. I wish it weren't in a tube, but as long as the product is great, the packaging isn't a really big deal. Try this product if you can get your hands on it. It really works.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Star Secret Eva Longoria
elpee 11/13/2009 3:37:00 PM
I found this color at a discount makeup store and it was only $3 bucks so I bought it. The color alone is quite pretty on me (I have olive skin and light eyes) but it really comes alive when you pair it with clear pinkish lip gloss. It doesn't have a lot of color so it looks very natural. Good lip stick if you can get it at a discount.

Hair -Moroccanoil - Moroccan Oil
elpee 5/13/2009 4:50:00 PM
I've been using Moroccan Oil for a couple of weeks and it really does deserve the praise it's been getting on MUA. It doesn't make my hair greasy at all and I don't seem to have to shampoo as much. My hair is relaxed but sometimes the ends can be a little frizzy. Moroccan Oil has reduced the frizziness substantially. The smell reminds me of incense at a middle eastern bazaar, but is not overpowering; kind of like a light body powder. I've only used it on my dry hair (makes it so soft and silky) but will blow dry it in tonight. I don't like the packaging (should be in a pump or something easier to dispense than a glass cough syrup bottle), but what's most important is the product, and the product is great. Since the cost is high for a hair oil (about $30 bucks) I would try to get a sample first but by all means try it. It's that good.

Conditioner -SAMY - - Moist Conditioner
elpee 2/16/2009 8:06:00 PM
Samy Moist has become one of my favorite conditioners. It does have a strong scent, but more like a clean soapy smell. As for conditioning, it really makes my hair soft and smooth. It could be less pricy but I found a lot of it at my neighborhood discount store for $1 per bottle so I stocked up. Open the bottle in the store for a sniff. If you like it, just remember you'll be smelling it all day long. Works well for me though.

Eye Shadow -MAC - corduroy eyeshadow
elpee 2/16/2009 7:57:00 PM
I like this color for my crease and as liner. I have hazel eyes and it really works well for me. It's not as dark as some of the other MAC browns so it's better for daytime use.

Eye Shadow -Sally Girl - Golden Bronze
elpee 2/16/2009 7:51:00 PM
This is a color I wear almost everyday. I'm olive toned and it is taupe tan shade that is just a little lighter than I am. It gives my eyes a pop and I use Mac Corduroy in the crease but there are other Sally Girl browns that would work equally as well. I use the Onyx with a wet tipped brush as eye liner. Love Sally Girl products. The colors are very pretty and at $.99 each, you can't beat the price.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Eclipse Glossimer Extreme
elpee 2/16/2009 5:30:00 PM
This is probably the most flattering shade of lip color I have ever worn. I have olive skin and brunette hair but my girlfriend who has black hair and dark skin wears the same shade and it looks even better on her. It's not as sticky as typical lip gloss and seems to stay on a little longer than normal. It looks really red and glittery in the package but don't be alarmed. It's a beautiful light berry color that is not only gorgeous, but makes your teeth look whiter too. If you can get your hands on this, get it. It is pricey ($27) but so worth it.
