Love this scent. I don't understand the comments about this scent being too girly or too young. In fact, it has a distinctly masculine smell to it, which I think is anything but juvenile. It does not last very long though. I find that if I spray it on my clothes it lasts much longer.
Palettes -Sephora - Collector's Edition Blockbuster
ellogovna27 3/4/2010 2:17:00 PM
I bought the Christmas '09 Blockbuster palette and my feelings on it are very mixed. I barely use the eyeshadows. I find they don't blend as well as others and a lot of the colors are just weird. Don't get me wrong though, there are a few good ones in there, its just not worth buying the entire palette to get them. This lipglosses are hit or miss. Some of them barely show up, but some of them are very pretty. They don't stay on the lips that well, which is common with a lot of glosses, but you can't carry this palette around with you for touch-ups, which makes it even worse. Also, there are some pretty ridiculous shades in this. You just might use them once (costume party, halloween, a joke). I absolutely love the creamy/gel eyeliner. It has 6 colors (I mainly use the black and brown. It has matte eyeshadows/ eyebrow filler, which are nice, but I would have liked more variety in the color. Myabe they should have replaced the wacky lipglosses and eyeshadows with that. They also have glittery eyeshadows which I love. They go on very nicely. It has mini lipliners and eyeliners. I like the eyeliners, haven't used the lipliners (red and brown). The littler bruses are awful. If you lucked out and have the right skin tone for the bronzer, then you might like it, other than that its pretty useless. The blushes are good. The one thing about this palette that really annoys me is the packaging. I dropped it once and the lid broke completely off. I have another eyeshadow paletter (from another brand) that I have dropped and that has never happened to it. Now, the sliding levels are hard to slide, the individual eyeshadows keep falling out and making a mess. I never expected to like absolutely every color and every product in this palette, but there are just too many strikes against it to recommend buying it. It was a decent price ($50) but when you consider the use I get out of it, it is NOT WORTH IT.
Styling Products -TRESemme - Instant Heat Tamer Spray

This is the first heat protectant spray I have bought and I really like this one. It makes my hair feel soft and doesn't weigh it down or make it sticky. It smells lovely. You can use it on both wet and dry hair. I will most likely buy this again, although I might want to try out some others because this wasn't the cheapest-- it was about $7. I like the spray nozzle. It doesn't shoot out one continuous spray so you have control over where it goes and how much comes out.
This moisturinzer was expensive, in my opinion. It doesn't moisturize all that well, either. Its not absolutely horrible at moisturizing, but I just expected better considering the price. The worst part about this stuff is that it makes my hands so sticky, which is something that will absolutely drive me nuts throughout the day. Even after I've washed my hands, they still feel sticky. I always apply it with a cotton round to avoid this. I like to mix it with my concealer sometimes, to lighten it up, and it works nicely for that. It comes with a pump, which I love, so the packaging is a plus with this one. It doesn't make me break out and is perfect for sensitive skin, which I have. I would not buy this again. I'm fine to use it until I run out, so it isn't the worst stuff in the world, but I will be getting a different moisturize the next time around.
I heard a lot of reviews on how great this mascara was. It is very nice. It doesn't flake until the end of the day, which is nice. I can't say that it gives me amazingly large and curled eyelashes. It does what a lot of other mascaras do. The wand is a weird one-- its thicker in some spots and thinner in others. I don't think the wand does anything to help the lashes. I personally prefer skinnier wands because its easier to get the the base of the lashes. When I'm getting the the base of my lases with this wand, I almost always get some on my eyelid. It comes in a nice, purple tube so the packaging is very pretty. Decent price-- most Rimmel things are. Can't say that I'd buy this again. I like to try out different mascaras anyway. I'm not disappointed with it, or anything, but its not the type of mascara where I absolutely love it.
Foundations -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Glow Sheers SPF 30

I got this in Light 25. Right now, its a little dark for my skin but will look perfect as soon as summer rolls around. For now, it gives me a nice sunkissed look without that look of having way-too-dark foundation on. It goes on very light and stays true to the "fresh feel" look it promises. If you're looking for something with a lot of coverage, this is not for you. If you want a nice, tinted-moisturizer type coverup, this is absolutely perfect. I paid 5.38 for it clearenced at Target but I know the original price is around $11.00. Can't say I would pay regular price for it. Maybe after I have tried out some other, similar coverups, I will decide on that. There is nothing special about the packaging. It comes in an ugly tube, not a bottle or anything fancy. Also, this stuff blends into the skin amazingly. I always feel fresher and prettier when I wear it than I would with a thicker coverup. I would recommend buying this.
Lipstick -Maybelline - Moisture Extreme - Sugar Plum on Ice
ellogovna27 3/3/2010 4:04:00 PM
I love, love, love this lipstick. I got it at Christmas Tree Shops, a discount store, and paid about $5.00 for it-- not sure what it is in a typical store. Either way, a fairly decent price. First off, the color is gorgeous. It is a nudey pink with a nice shimmer. It feels like a really light lipgloss. And this lipstick moisturizes. They are not lying about it being "Moisture Extreme." The other plus to this lipstick is the smell. It smells like grapefruit (my sister says it smells like kiwi) which I absolutely love. And it isn't that kiddy-ish scented lipstick, either. It is just a faint hint of something delicious. The packaging is very nice-- red with a silver band. Very pretty, nothing to complain about. If you are looking for a cheap, nudey pink lipstick, absolutely buy this one. Definitely get this is you're looking for a moisturizing lipstick. This is perfect for that. By far one of my favorite lipsticks.
I paid $3.24 for this product because I got it clearenced at Target. This original price is $4.64, so I would say this lipstick is very cheaply priced considering its quality. I love the color. It is the perfect summer color. It is a coraly-orangey color with a bit of shimmer in it. It lasts a decent amount of time and doesn't dry out the lips too much. As for the packaging, it seems a little cheap. The cap feels like it will crack and break it I squeeze it too hard or if it gets smashed in my purse. The look of it is nothing special-- I think the mauve-y color it comes in is kind of ugly. But don't let the packaging deter you from buying it. I would buy this product again.
I LOVE this lipstick. It is a very pale pink, which looks wonderful with smokey eyes, or any kind of makeup, really. I love the price of Revlon lipsticks. I usually pay between $4 and $5 for a tube, depending on the sales at the time. This price is very reasonable considering the quality of the lipstick. Be forewarned, you will need to have perfectly unchapped lips to wear this matte lipstick. I usually put a chapstick on underneath it because it shows every little flake on your lip. Don't let this scare you from buying it, though. The pacaging is very pretty and classy looking-- it follows the typical revlon packaging but the black is matte (which I think looks better) and there is a silver band across it rather than a gold one. Overall, I would definitely reccommend buying this product.
Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipstick in Twinkled Pink
ellogovna27 3/3/2010 3:52:00 PM
First off, I bought this lipstick at CVS with a BOGO free deal, so I paid a little over $4 dollars for it. Even without this deal, Revlon lipsticks are excellently priced considering their good quality. Packaging is lovely-- nothing too fancy, but still nice. I love this color. Its a bit of a coraly pink, but definitely more on the pink side than the coraly side. It has a bit of a shimmer as it is the moisturizing kind. It moisturizes well enough, but I've used lipsticks that do it better. With any lipstick, though, you have to expect that your lips will become a little dried out. It lasts a decent amount of time-- nothing to brag about, but still what I expected. I would recommend this lipstick.
I like Revlon lipstick not only because they are cheap but because they are good quality. The quality of this lipstick is no exception, however, I am not a fan of the color/shimmer. While I'm aware it is called SILVER City Pink, it is a bit too silvery for me. Its a very light pink, which I love, and with another lipstick color under it, it looks gorgeous, but when I apply it alone, I usually have to smear it a little with my finger to take away the silvery-ness. I wouldn't buy it for myself again, but if you like lipstick with a little silver in it, then this is perfect. It does moisturize your lips, but not as well as some other lipsticks do.
Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Pssssssst Instant Spray Shmpoo
ellogovna27 3/3/2010 3:43:00 PM
First of all, I got this at a store called Christmas Tree Shops so I only paid $2.49, but I have seen it in stores like Target and Rite-Aid ranging from $5.00 to $7.00-- it has the potential to be cheap but also to be fairly expensive. It only comes in a 4 oz can, so paying the most expensive price for it is something I definitely don't recommend. The one I bougt is "unscented" and for normally to oily hair. When they say unscented, they do not mean scentless. It has an AMAZING smell to it. It smells like the beach/ a tanning salon. If you love that summery smell, then this is the product for you. I will buy this again simply because of its lovely smell. It works perfectly as an instant shampoo, but I must be honest and say that I have no other instant shampoo to compare it to. When I run out of this can I may try a different brand and be able to do a better comparison.
