Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
elleLuv5 5/31/2012 12:21:00 PM
Probably the best mascara I have ever used. It gives fuller looking lashes and lasts all day. Unlike other mascaras (expensive and cheap), this doesn't transfer under my eye bags after a full day of wearing (not even with a little humidity). Like most, the price is the one thing that prevents me from purchasing this all the time. I'm more likely to a buy a few in a year as opposed to everytime I need a new one, which is every couple of weeks or so. Also, it takes a long time to remove the product off and I often wake up in the morning with more to wash off, that's a amall price to pay for fuller looking lashes. I just wish the actual price itself wasn't $30.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
elleLuv5 5/31/2012 12:10:00 PM
Expensive but worth it. I really didn't think I needed or wanted this brush. I was quite content with my sonia kashuk flat top brush and eco tools foundation brush. But I felt like my other MAC brushes perform so well that I needed this. I find that the 187 pick up less foundation, thus using less of the product and still having an excellent coverage. The finish, as most have mentioned, is great. It does shed a tiny bit but I love this brush so much I don't even care! I thought cleaning the 187 would be a pain and I was prepared to have it stained, but mine barely has any on it. The foundation just washes away with a mild liquid soap and cool water.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Concealer Kit (Reformulated & New packaging 2011)
elleLuv5 11/21/2011 12:57:00 PM
Finally a concealer that actually conceals! This concealer works great for me. I use my finger to apply and usually just tap gently. Some days I do find that I need to apply more depending on how tired and sleep deprived I am. Nonetheless, it does work. Consistent with most reviewers, it does crease but using the powder to set it solves that problem for me. One reviewer mentioned about having dry skin and caking..I have very dry skin and if not for my cetaphil restoraderm moisturizer I am sure I would have the same problem of having dry patches and caking. So, this is probably not the best product for extremely dry skin or at least you need a good facial moisturizer as it is not as creamy as other concealers.

Lotions/ Creams -Cetaphil - Restoraderm skin restoring moisturizer
elleLuv5 11/21/2011 12:46:00 PM
This has officially become my HG body lotion and facial moisturizer. I have very dry skin and tend to get dry patches on my face in the winter months and my Aveeno moisturizer seem to do a decent job at first, however, earlier this year I suddenly started getting Eczema on my face. After enough googling I decided to switch to this as well as using the Cetaphil face wash. This has been so amazing for my skin!! Anytime I notice dry skin coming up I apply more on that area and the next day its gone. I definitely recommend this for people who have very to extreme dry skin because not only does it give lasting moisture but also help heal and repair your skin from dryness. Also, I find that I get a nice glow with this moisturizer so this is not for those with oily skin. Not cheap but worth every penny!

Bronzers -MAC - Matte Bronze
elleLuv5 11/21/2011 12:32:00 PM
Excellent bronzer for my skin tone (NARS Punjab; LM Bisque; Lancome Bisque 3N). It is not too dark. No orange, no glitter, no shimmer. Matches peachy coloured blush. Great for everyday use especially around fall/winter season.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Fusion
elleLuv5 11/21/2011 12:22:00 PM
I have been using this for about 6 months now and on my third bottle. It did take me a while to like this mascara but I'm so sick of trying different brands that I just stuck with this one. I find that the formula is not too harsh on my lashes as the other ones I've tried tend to make me lose some hairs in the process of application and removal, but not this! With that said I apply about 2-3 times to get more of fuller looking lashes. I love how it does not transfer under my eye even after an entire day of wearing them, and that's where most mascaras have failed me. I have fairly straight lashes and with the combination of my shu uemura curler it does a great job! Overall, this is my go-to mascara for every day use but I only get it if its on sale. Otherwise, paying $9.99 (CAD) personally is not worth it. Also, my search for the ultimate mascara does not stop with this product as I cannot say it is the most amazing out there.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #129 Powder/Blush Brush
elleLuv5 6/23/2011 2:09:00 PM
I might be one of the odd ones when it comes to this brush because I actually really love my 129. I needed a good a blush/bronzer brush and I got this without reading much reviews about it. At first, I was disappointed..although very soft I really wanted something more firm and less fluffy. But I was surprised how well it worked. It did shed a bit the first couple of times of using it but haven't since then even when I wash it everyday. What I really love about this brush is how well it picks up the product. You really don't need to dip the brush too much to your blush/bronzer.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #217 Blending
elleLuv5 6/14/2011 6:30:00 PM
Can't go wrong with this brush. So versatile it makes makeup application easy. I have two and use it all the time. Anyone who loves makeup should own the 217. It's not as expensive as you think because you get so much out of it.

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation
elleLuv5 6/12/2011 3:31:00 PM
I've been using sheer glow for almost a year and I thought I'd already written a review for it!! This is definitely HG foundation for me. I wear punjab. I have dry skin which in the winter time can be extreme (flaky and crackly looking skin, I know gross!). I think this is a great foundation for us who unfortunately have dehydrated skin. However, for winter months you can't really rely on the sheer glow to give you that extra layer of moisture and hydration. The key then will be your moisturizer. Otherwise, you will end up having your dry skin appear flaky and cracking. I use EVOO and cetaphil cream underneath and both work great for me. No problems with coverage. A little goes a long way and it is buildable. It covers my little bit of redness on my left cheek. Also, it lasts all day without using a setting powder. It provides a nice satin, flawless finish. I like how I don't get a matte look, as someone with dry skin..the matte finish is just not for me. There's a tiny bit of dewy-ness to it which I love. It doesn't feel heavy and wears light. The bottle lasted me about 8 months. It's not cheap but definitely worth it especially if it lasts you that long! The no pump thing is definitely annoying as most have mentioned. It can get messy around the mouth of the bottle and inefficient. I really hope the change the bottle and include a pump as the current one is not hygienic.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
elleLuv5 5/10/2011 11:14:00 AM
I liked this mascara for the first week as it gave me long and fuller looking lashes. After that it quickly got clumpy. It dried out my lashes and I thought that the formula was harsh as I started to lose lashes. Also, it is very hard to remove! I use EVOO as eye makeup remover and it took me a long time to get rid of it. The next day I would have mascara runs under my eyes! This had so much potential but the quality quickly becomes very poor after the first few applications!

Fragrances -Chanel - Chance Eau Tendre
elleLuv5 5/9/2011 11:36:00 AM
It's been a couple years since I've used a perfume (I got tired of wearing Dior addict) and I just couldn't find a scent I love. I've been wearing my boyfriend's Bvlgari pour homme cologne (which I LOVE). Finally, I decided I wanted a perfume and have heard about Chanel Chance. I probably only smelled it once and had to think about whether or not to get it for a very long time. My bf came home one day and surprised me with a bottle! I was a bit worried I wasn't going to like it because I've been picky with scents. But i adore this!!! I'm not very good at describing perfume smell but what I can say is that its got floral and a hint of fruity scent in it. It lasts all day long and I love that faded scent still pouring out of you or your clothing. I don't find it to be an overwhelming scent and is very feminine. Like some have mentioned...it does have a sense of sophistication. I usually never buy a second bottle because half way through I find myself getting sick of the smell...but this is one of those perfume's you will keep coming back to! And I predict a second bottle or third or fourth and so on!!

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil
elleLuv5 5/6/2011 11:46:00 AM
I tell my family and friends how use EVOO for my skin and they're surprised. And all I could think about is how could they not know the benefits of it outside of cooking?! Anyway, I have very dry skin and I like to apply EVOO after moisturizing and before foundation or tinted moisturizer and I just can't imagine this not being my routine. I have small container bottles which I place in the bathroom and vanity room as I always find myself reaching for it. Like most, I also use EVOO as my eye makeup remover, I find this better than using chemical-based products that tend to dry out my skin even more. I also use this as an ingredient for my exfoliation (sugar, honey, EVOO). I've never tried it for my hair though. EVOO is something that everyone needs to incorporate in their skin care routine, with the amount of chemicals we use on our skin (via makeup) at least EVOO in some ways balances this out.

Hair -Moroccanoil - Moroccan Oil
elleLuv5 5/4/2011 7:35:00 PM
I have thick, very dry and dehydrated, black hair which is annoying as hair maintenance isn't my thing. Since I started using Morrocanoil (a couple of months) my hair so much more manageable. I use a couple of drops on my damped hair. Sometimes I blow dry and most of the time I just air dry my hair. A little goes a long way with this product. If you're noticing that your hair is oily then you've over done it. I apply more at the ends of my hair which tend to more frizzy and dry. My hair seriously feels and look so soft and shiny! I sometimes put a tiny tiny bit after styling my hair just for shine. It is pricey (close to $50CAD, don't really remember) for the big bottle (on the pic) but honestly this would last a looong time because you don't need a whole lot of product. When I first sampled this with the really small bottle, it lasted me 2 months. I suspect the bigger bottle will last 6-8 months and that's with my thick hair! Mine, came with a pump...not sure if others did as I did see complaints about the bottling. And as for the scent...I don't think I need to stress how lovely it smells.

Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
elleLuv5 5/4/2011 12:02:00 PM
Great product! Never thought I'd get so much out of this $3 duo, I really just wanted to try some ELF product and this was my first. I'm very impressed as it is very pigmented and cheap. Like some, I don't think the blush is a dupe for NARS orgasm because it is much lighter and less shimmery. However, it is still a good blush. I use the bronzer more than the blush as I like to pair it with orgasm. It is rare to for a drug store brand to really get it right and still give us a cheap alternative to higher end brands. Although I don't have the NARS duo I think this ELF duo does the job well!

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
elleLuv5 5/4/2011 11:51:00 AM
It took me a while to warm up to this blush. After purchasing it I was a bit disappointed because it didn't seem to pop out on my skin tone (sheer glow in punjab) the way I wanted it to. It seemed too light and I just didn't get the effect I want which was a rosy glow. However, I paired it with a bronzer and that's when I started to really love it. I think it looks great on top of a bronzer because that's when the gold flecks truly come out. Of course it is very pigmented so there's no need to apply excessive amounts. And it's not the kind of blush you want tons of. You really just want a small hint of it otherwise I think one would look ridiculous LOL This is perfect for all seasons (especially spring/summer) and works with any eyeshadow because it has the versatility in it.
