Eye Shadow -MAC - Deep Truth
rated 5 of 5

This eyeshadow is a beautiful colour, formula and finish. Not sure why blue eyeshadow has such a bad name when if its used properly it can be great. My favourite way to use this is as a blue smokey eye deep truth on the lid with contrast in the crease for a night out . Or worn on the lid alone is suitable for day looks.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Orgasm
rated 3 of 5

Bought this gloss as the description made me think I'd love it. Plus the blush, I love it. I love NARS lipglosses usually, but for me this was too glittery and didn't work well on my skintone. I gave it to a friend and its perfect on her but on me its a glittery, unflattering and cheap looking gloss. I'll stick to the non-glitter NARS glosses. I guess the lesson learned here is try before you buy because on me its *meh* but on my friends its a lovely, flattering peach.

Skincare - Face -MAC - Fix+

I can't make this product work on me. I'm not sure exactly what its for. I have friends who rave about it so I swapped for it. I've tried using it before applying makeup, after applying makeup, to set my makeup. I've tried buffing my makeup in after applying it. It just doesn't seem to do anything but it does feel nice and refreshing, I like the smell and I do think the packaging is awesome. Especially like how you can sort of lock it closed again so you can travel with it. Just not sure what I should do with it.

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
rated 2 of 5
elfelettem 8/16/2010 12:30:00 PM

This has good coverage, and IMO opinion looks best when applied with a brush. Unnatural and cakey when applied with a sponge. I'm not sure if its due to changes in my skin or a change in geography meaning that this just doesn't work very well on me anymore, it oxidises and occasionally seems to separate from my skin. Plus in bright light I feel it accentuates my pores. Not something I'd rebuy but when it did work on my skin it was passable.

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Field of Flowers shower gel
rated 5 of 5
elfelettem 8/16/2010 9:24:00 AM

I experience a reaction with many soaps or body washes. I find Philosophy 3-in-1s to be one of the few that I can use without problems. My only problem with most of the Philosophy scents are the gourmand notes. I get sick of all the soaps smelling like food, delicious food but still... I love Field of Flowers. Gorgeous scent. And while other reviewers might dislike the scent that it doesn't linger long after the shower, I prefer that because I don't like my showergels to interfere with the notes of my perfume. I kind of hate the packaging unwieldy and too much product comes out, so I decant it into an empty Shu Uemura facial oil pump dispensor. Uses less product that way, plus its easier for me to use in my shower. I'll definitely be buying again.

Lotions/ Creams -St. Ives - Vanilla Body Lotion
rated 4 of 5

I use this body lotion in winter. I find the scent to be plesant but not long lasting so doesn't clash with the fragrances I wear. I find it quick to absorb and non-greasy. My skin doesn't need that much moisture, just a little to get me through winter. I like the pump dispenser.

Lip Treatments -MAC - Lip Conditioner
rated 1 of 5
elfelettem 5/17/2010 7:32:00 AM

I bought a few of these on impulse originally. I don't find them all together conditioning, I don't like the packaging and I think they are extremely expensive for an average lipbalm. The only time I really do tend to reach for them is when I'm wanting to put on underneath a lipstick to sheer it out or to prevent my lips drying out. Its pretty good for that. But I wont repuchase (If I run out before products go off).

Skincare - Face -Avene - Thermal Water
rated 3 of 5
elfelettem 5/17/2010 7:27:00 AM

I use this to freshen up a dehydrated face, or when I want to 'settle' my makeup. Also, if my skin has broken down and I can't use moisturiser or cleanser, I tend to use this as both moisturisr and cleanser until it recovers. I like it, I've bought and re-bought it, but if you looking purely as a setting spray then there are probably other water sprays that work as well.

Lipstick -MAC - Peachstock (satin)
rated 1 of 5
elfelettem 5/17/2010 7:23:00 AM

On my skintone this is nasty stuff. I've tried on its own, worn sheerly, over pencil applied as a base, under a gloss... I can't make it work. I don't mind the satin formula, but the shade is, on me, hideous. I've seen it look good on others though. I guess just make sure you try it on you before buying. Don't buy based on reviews or pictures.

Misc Beauty Tools -MAC - Brush Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
elfelettem 5/17/2010 7:15:00 AM

I've only tried a couple of brush cleansers. Once I tried this one I've not bought any others. I like how this cleans the brushes, I use it for spot cleaning where I just wipe my brushes over a damp cloth and also for deeper wash with the cleanser where I rinse off with water and leave to dry. Cleans brushes perfectly, brushes feel/look/smell clean afterwards and they are still in really good condition after years of use. From the reviews I see other people decant into a spray bottle, I am going to try that because the packaging is my only complaint with this product.

Lips -Sally Hansen - Lip Inflation Extreme
rated 5 of 5
elfelettem 5/17/2010 2:30:00 AM

I think this is a great lipgloss. I have it in "sheer bare" and its the perfect nude gloss for my fair skin and semi-pigmented lips. My friend gave me this because if you look at my lipglosses the MLBB shades are very similar to this (pinky-beige). This isn't a pigmented gloss so I don't get colour payoff but I get a lovely shine and colour is flattering. In terms of inflating my lips, I don't really notice a difference but the lines on my lips do tend to be filled in a bit so maybe there is a plumping effect but its not that noticeable. The first time I used this the tingling freaked me out. After that, I think I knew what to expect so wasn't bothered anymore. There is a tingling but its not unpleasant. The ginger/cinnamon scent is, in my opinion, quite pleasant.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Paris Duo
rated 3 of 5
elfelettem 5/16/2010 7:33:00 AM

Paris is a duo of light grey (with some shimmer) and a charcoal grey (almost matte). They look gorgeous in the duo. I like the packaging (especially the mirror). The duo is nicely pigmented and I find them easy to blend, is buildable and they last well. My only complaint with the duo is that on me, it goes quite blue. I was hoping for a straight grey/black duo and that is how it applies but soon after it seems to change to blue. Its better if I apply over a grey/silver base like MAC paint in pixel, but it brings my satisfaction with this duo down from a 4.5 to a 3 and I'd not repurchase (but this will last me so long I wont be looking for a replacement for a while).

Eye Shadow -MAC - Poison Pen
rated 3 of 5
elfelettem 4/29/2010 4:14:00 AM

This is the first of the Matte2 formula I've tried. Was lovely to use in crease with some other purple shadows for a daytime smokey eye. Found it easy to blend, nicely pigmented, beautiful colour. Only problem is that halfway through the day it tended to lose a little of the depth of colour. Worn with UDPP as a base. Still all in all a very nice shadow and good if you are looking for a darkish purple with no shimmer.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - Ultraglide - Gash
rated 3 of 5
elfelettem 4/27/2010 10:29:00 AM

I love the ultraglide formula. I find the applicator easy to use, the scent is pleasant, I can't taste the cola but the taste isn't unpleasant and most of all I like how it feels on my lips. This colour is not what I was wanting or expecting. The Urban Decay description is 'deep, shimmering red'. I expected a true red but this is more a brick or rust colour. Much warmer and murkier than I was wanting. The plus though, is that as this wears off my lips it leaves a nice, even stain. That works well.

Loose Powders -By Terry - Loose Powder
rated 5 of 5
elfelettem 4/27/2010 8:02:00 AM

I use this to set my Light Expert foundation. I love how this wears with it. Doesn't cake, settle into lines or pores or separate on my skin. Gives almost an airbrushed effect. I've had trouble finding a loose powder that worked for me generally, I've tried Prescriptives, NARS, MAC. Only complaint I have re: this is the packaging. I find that I tend to spill the powder when I decant some in the lid to apply with brush.
