Lipstick -Revlon - Pink in the Afternoon
elambie 7/23/2012 11:36:00 PM
Hands down the best Revlon lipstick I own. It's the perfect warm medium pink shade that goes with everything. It's easy to slap on and I don't have to worry that it'll clash with the rest of my makeup. The formula of the lipstick is also perfection, better than a lot of my MAC lipsticks as well. I really can't rave enough about this lipstick and I'm so glad I rediscovered it in my collection!!

Mascara -Revlon - Photoready 3D Volume
elambie 3/13/2012 11:37:00 PM
I have recently become really critical and picky of the mascaras I have. Over the holidays, I bought the Sephora Lash Stash, and wasn't too impressed with any of the mascaras (even though I really seemed to like the Fairydrops mascara). One day, I had heard Amarixe, from Youtube, talking about this mascara and how much she loved it. I usually tend to like the same things that she does, so I bought the mascara having high hopes. And it delivered!! The formula doesn't clump my lashes and it's the only non-waterproof mascara I've found that can hold the curl in my lashes. I have naturally very straight lashes, so most mascaras can't hold them up well enough. This is one of the few that could. I love synthetic brushes as well, so this was perfection. I normally switch mascaras everyday, but I've found myself consistently reaching for this one. I think this may be my HG mascara!!

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Sirius Skinsonic Brush System

I originally thought I would get the Clarisonic. BUT, I've become really skeptical of it because my previously acne prone skin has calmed down tremendously and I rarely get breakouts anymore (knock on wood) and I figured it really wouldn't have too much benefits for my skin. My skin isn't necessarily oily, especially in the winter, nor is it dry. It's pretty much normal now, which is why I never committed to the Clarisonic. I didn't want to invest so much money in a product that was only going to do so much. Long story short, I decided I'd try the cheaper option, but nearly the same product!! And I really am happy with my purchase. I wouldn't say it has dramatically changed my skin, but it might have made some of my small acne scars fade somewhat. I only use it about 3 times a week, as my esthetician said that many of her clients with the same type of product (Clarisonic included) are essentially "cleansing" and "exfoliating" their skin to shreds. 3 times a week was her suggestion, and I took it. I also use the sensitive head as I really didn't like the rough feeling from the regular brush head. Overall, it's a really nice product that is loads cheaper than the Clarisonic alternative!!

Eye Makeup Remover -Almay - Non-Oily Eye Makeup Remover Pads
elambie 2/6/2012 12:19:00 AM
I got these on a complete whim at Ulta at those pesky, tempting bins they have with discounted products. Gets me every time! Well, these essentially made my eyes burn like no other, and I'm used to having uncomfortable eyes because I've worn contacts for 8 years. The pain was definitely not worth what it took off in makeup. I'll just stick to my travel sizes of Clinique's Take Off The Day.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - All-In-One Makeup Removing Cleansing Wipes
elambie 2/6/2012 12:16:00 AM
I really have no idea why these are so popular. For me, they were a pain to work with. The ones I've gotten are not textured so it's nearly impossible for me to get my makeup off completely with them. I much prefer the Target Up and Up brand of makeup remover wipes, Ponds, or Yes to Cucumbers. And the Target brand type is cheaper also!

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Boi-ing

This concealer is fantastic!! I found this to work sooooo much better for me compared to the Bobbi Brown concealer, and you get A LOT more product as well. The color matches me perfectly and stays all day, when set with powder. I never use it under my eyes as I like more liquid consistency concealers for that job, but over my acne scars, this product is amazing.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Concealer Kit

I really thought this product was going to be my HG of concealers, considering I've heard nothing but great things about it. But, I really found it to not be any better than my Benefit Boi-ing concealer. When I heard "creamy" concealer, that's what I expected. Clearly I didn't get that, at all. It wasn't dry, but wasn't what I wanted/expected. Return!!

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
elambie 1/19/2012 9:16:00 PM
I recently got a sample of this product from Sephora along with the Matte Velvet foundation because I was unsure of which one I was going to want. The shade 115 matches me perfectly, even though I have yellow undertones (maybe the SA labeled it wrong..??). The coverage is medium, which is exactly what I wanted. Even though I have slight acne scarring from my teen years, the foundation evens out my skintone and covers the scars well enough to where I need very little concealer on top. It hasn't broken me out and stays really well over the course of the day. Granted, I've only worn this during the winter when my skin is normal type, so I'm curious to see how this holds up during the summer when I'm oily and sweaty. Either way, this is a fantastic foundation for myself in the winter!! Definitely recommend.

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Bouncy Blush
elambie 1/18/2012 6:15:00 PM
I've seen a lot of reviews of this product on YouTube and at this point I have to disagree with most of them. Most gurus say that they're too sheer and the consistency is too strange, but I find them to be perfect pigmentation and are soooo interesting in texture. For my NC25 skintone, the pigmentation is great. They're also very easy to blend and build up. I only have two colors (Rose Petal and Peach Satin (I think??)) and they're fantastic. Definitely underrated in my opinion.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Vaseline Petroleum Jelly
elambie 1/2/2012 1:38:00 AM
During the winter, my lips can get super chapped like most everyone else's. I've tried many different lip balms (hated Burts Bees) and everything was a quick fix that didn't really do much in the long run. The only thing on the planet that actually helps is vaseline. Usually I only use this as a night treatment where right before going to bed, I'll put this all over my lips and when I wake up in the morning, they're baby soft. If I wake up after not putting this stuff on the night before and my lips are particularly dry, I'll put a light coat of this on my lips before leaving and they're moisturized all day. It's my HG lip treatment!!!

Foundations -Revlon - Beyond Natural Skin Matching Makeup SPF 15
elambie 12/21/2011 12:34:00 PM
I got this foundation a few days ago solely because it was on clearance at Target for $3. I had always been skeptical of these skin matching foundations that begin as white and match to your skin tone, but had also been just as curious. I used this the day after I got it on a lazy day with my fiance and needless to say, it worked quite well!! The coverage was medium at best, but I have been looking for a lighter coverage foundation to use in rotation with my Revlon Colorstay anyways. It didn't cover my few scars, just evened out my skin tone. But there wasn't anything that my concealer couldn't cover up. It didn't break me out either, which is always fantastic. My fiance also made a comment saying that he thought my skin looked really nice and asked if I was wearing makeup (good or bad thing?? good I think!!). So it's clearly man approved!!

Cleansers -St. Ives - Naturally Clear Green Tea Cleanser
elambie 12/21/2011 1:23:00 AM
I had been faithful to my Clinique 3 step system and the Clinique acne solutions line for nearly a year. But after realizing that my acne solutions cleanser (which I loved, btw) would be used up in a month, I decided it was not worth the money and it was time to return to the drugstore for a cheaper option. I had done some research on YouTube and on blogs and decided to try out the St. Ives cleanser. From the drugstore, I had tried Biore and Neutrogena, both of which didn't work for clearing up my acne. So, I was pretty much expecting the same results from this. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that this cleanser works better than ANY cleanser I've ever used. I'm not sure if it's the combination of products I use (this cleanser, the Clinique acne solutions toner and the Cetaphil moisture cream or Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel depending on the time of year) or the cleanser itself, but I'm more than happy with my choice. I'm thinking about getting the scrub that goes along with it as well!! Fantastic purchase!!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked 2 Palette
elambie 12/6/2011 6:51:00 PM
I jumped on this as soon as I saw it pop up in my email last week. Thankfully I was lucky enough to get one after a few hours of internet server problems and high traffic pages. I was actually really excited that it came so quickly, too. I ordered on Thursday and received on Monday, pretty fast considering I'm all the way in CA and the palette shipped from FL. I don't have Naked 1, but always wanted it. But after getting Naked 2, I'm questioning whether I really want Naked 1. Lately, I've been looking for neutrals with cooler undertones, which I feel are a lot more difficult to find compared to those with warmer undertones. So, Naked 2 is kind of my perfect palette. It has it's warmer shades and it's cooler shades which is kind of a departure from Naked 1 where there was an overwhelmingly more amount of warmer shades. Definitely in love!!

Blush -NARS - Creme Blush in Cactus Flower
elambie 12/4/2011 4:07:00 PM
I have a few NARS blushes, and I love them. And I really do love the color of this blush and I can stand the sparkles that it has as well. I bought it probably in September and tested it in stores and loved the creamy texture the Sephora sample had and the color is just gorgeous!! But, it dried up completely on me by mid November. I've had my NYX cream blushes for upwards of a year now and they are still just as creamy as they were when I bought them. For some reason this blush just died on me!! I tried warming it up in my hands to see if that would liquify it anymore, but it did nothing. I found myself essentially stabbing my blush brush in a NARS blush, and that NEVER happens. I'm not sure if the packaging was flawed and allowed air to get into the product, or what, but this shouldn't have happened. It's such a gorgeous color though!!

Liquid -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup SPF 20
elambie 11/20/2011 2:12:00 PM
I had been looking for an everyday alternative to my Revlon ColorStay as I wanted a lighter, medium coverage rather than full, heavy coverage. After a few tries at finding my skin match, I ended up with the shade Buff (30, I think). It gives a good enough coverage to completely cover my acne scars and mostly cover whatever active blemishes I have. It feels light on my skin and doesn't cake on me. When I set it with my ELF HD powder, it lasts all day and I don't need any touch ups either. Fantastic product for everyday, natural makeup!!
