Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals Foundation #2
ehen 12/19/2008 5:06:00 AM
Sooo sad this didn't work for me. I had very high hopes for this product. I do have very dry skin (thanks to Tazorac) and his accentuated the dryness/ exaggerated my flakes. It also settled into the fine lines around my undereye area. This would be better for normal/slightly oily skin. Also, the product went everywhere - when I tried the whole "swirl, tap, apply" even with the smallest amount, powder went everywhere. Also, even after securing the lid, after a while power seemed to spill out (perhaps from the grooves in the sides of the main container). I tried to use this sparingly after thinking I was using too much at first but alas, this is not the product for me.

Treatments -Pantene - Pro-V Restoratives Time Renewal Replenishing Mask ] [DISCONTINUED]
ehen 12/19/2008 4:55:00 AM
This is, quite simply, the best conditioner I have used in a very long while! I bought this after reading about it in a magazine ("best beauty" list) and have loved it from the first time I used it. I have very fine and dry hair and need to use a hard-core conditioner every day or else my hair is an unmanageable fly-away mess. This leaves it smooth and moisturized without weighing it down. My hair is not static-y, even in the dry and cold Midwest winter climate where I live! I do agree with other reviewers in wishing it had a pump rather than being in a jar. The jar is a bit cumbersome to open/store in the shower and I am always worried I am getting water into the container. Oh well, a small complaint and for the price and quality of this product, it is worth overlooking.

Mascara -Almay - Intense i-Color- Emerald Green
ehen 12/19/2008 4:49:00 AM
Ugh! I have tried THREE of the intense i-Color mascaras (Emerald Green, Purple Amethyst, and the Plum) and they are all TERRIBLE! I was intrigued and bought all three at once (big mistake) and although I loved the colors the mascara itself was too thick, gloopy and gave me the worst spider clumped lashes I have ever had. These mascaras were awful. The Emerald, however, was the worst - it was not as clumpy as the others but made my eyes sting. I was insanely dissapointed with this product. My search for a decent colored mascara continues...

Moisturizers -Avene - skin recovery cream (US name: cream for intolerant skin)
ehen 12/19/2008 4:45:00 AM
This is my night moisturizer - I use L'oreal Revitalift UV during the day and I am so happy to have found this product I could cry! I have been using Tazorac for several months and on the days when I'm not using it (because of its drying/flaking capabilities) I apply moisturizer at night. Everything I tried - all specifically for "sensitive skin" burned, stung and made my face red. Ouch! After reading about Avene on various websites, I ordered the cream for intolerant skin off the internet. It works great - has a wonderful texture and DOES NOT STING in the slightest! Even though it contains mineral oil I have not broken out at all from this product. The only drawback: the price. $25 for a small tube. I would love to say that a little goes a long way but you need an average amount to cover the entire face. However, I am so happy with the results I will def. buy it again. Finally! Some relief from the stinging and burning most all other moisturizers created.

Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Revitalift UV [DISCONTINUED]
ehen 12/19/2008 4:38:00 AM
I purchased this as a slighty cheaper alternative to La Roche Posay Anthelios SX and, to be honest, I like it much better. I have been using Tazorac for several months which has caused my skin to flake profusley and rendered it sensitive to the sun. This is the only moisturizer that seems to discourage and remedy the flaking as well as provide excellent sun protection. I find it goes on very easily, leaves no white/chalky residue and seems to be fairly good value for the money. The only drawback is the pump: I need a good 5-6 pumps to get the quantity of moisturizer I need.

Eye Shadow -Aveda - Shadow plus Vitamins in Aura
ehen 12/5/2008 12:02:00 AM
This is a great taupe/purple shadow - not really strong enough to wear on it's own but I've been mixing it with the intense purple from my Dior "Stylish Move". Although I appreciate Aveda's commitment to the environment (e.g. less packaging), I really dislike the fact that this comes on its own with no "container". I know the idea is to purchase one of their metal magnetic cases but I tried that in the past and it was a complete mess - with no dividers or spacers the eye shadows really bled into one another. I would welcome any ideas/advice on how to "store" just one of the Aveda shadows. I'm afraid I'll lose it or drop it.

Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Shampoo and Conditioner (entire series)
ehen 12/3/2008 1:27:00 AM
I am willing to spend money on some things (my highlights, for instance) but was sick of spending lots of money on shampoos and conditioners. I have very fine hair (but lots of it) so if I don't have the right combination of shampoo/conditioner, it makes for a very bad hair day - flywayay and static - great. I had been using KMS Color Therapy in Violet which I liked but thought there might be something cheaper out there. The Suave Professionals for Blonde Hair (which compares itself to John Frieda) has worked quite well so far. The packaging is pretty blah but so far, so good - I've only used it for a week but for $2 a bottle, and after comparing the ingredients to the KMS shampoo, which were nearly identical, it will most likely go on my permanent list.

Lotions/ Creams -Alba Botanica - very emollient body lotion - daily shade formula
ehen 12/3/2008 1:16:00 AM
I found this lotion at TJ Max and decided to give it a try - boy am I glad I did! This lotion is amazing and I like the fact that there are no synthetic ingredients. I use it on a daily basis and it has eliminated the little bumps on the back of my arms, keeps my skin extremely hydrated (I live in the Midwest and it is cold and very dry) and has a light non-fragrance fragrance (if that makes sense). After I finished the original bottle I ordered two 32 fl. oz. giant bottles and now keep one at home and one at the gym - I was able to get the two for $14.00 - and now can't imagine using any other body lotion.

Lotions/ Creams -Alba Botanica - Un-petroleum Multi-Purpose Jelly
ehen 12/3/2008 1:07:00 AM
I love this! I was looking for something to replace my petroleum jelly - the chemical aspect of it never really appealed to me. I ordered this on a whim and now can't imagine living without it. I put it on my elbows and heels every night and they are super soft and smooth by the morning. I also put it on my cheeks before I walk my dog - it keeps them from getting windburnt on a cold day. I highly recommend it as a multi-purpose moisturizer.
