Lotions/ Creams -Bliss Labs - High Intensity Hand Cream
rated 2 of 5

I keep a small tube of this at my desk at work for those days when I'm handling a lot of paper and my hands dry out. It's not an amazing product -- it does the job for short-term moisturizing, but long-term, it doesn't seem to heal, repair, or make a difference with dry skin. It basically helps me get through the day until I can get home and use the "real" products that work miracles on my skin. The one thing I love about this is the scent -- it smells like freshly grated lemon zest. I just adore the scent. I won't buy again when my tube is gone. I'll get a desk-size tube of something that actually helps heal and repair my skin in the long-term.

Polishes -OPI - An Affair in Red Square
rated 5 of 5
edenssixthday 8/9/2011 3:41:00 PM

I have more red nail polishes in my collection than any other color, because I am *always* trying to find just the right shade of red. With An Affair in Red Square, I have finally found the perfect red! It would be perfect for the holidays, yet I can wear it year-round. Two coats of this incredibly beautiful blue-based red color, and its richness, depth, brightness, and shimmer all come through stunningly. It makes me feel as snazzy as if I were rolling around town in a red Corvette. I probably won't be buying any more red nail polishes unless it's to buy this one again, because it really is the perfect red. I've finally found it, at last.

Polishes -OPI - Austin-tatious Turquoise
rated 4 of 5
edenssixthday 8/9/2011 3:37:00 PM

This is an absolutely AH-MAZING color. For anyone who remembers the old 1983-1986 models of Toyota MR2s, this is the *exact* color of "MR2 blue", i.e., my very favorite shade of any color in the world. There just aren't words to describe how gorgeous this color of blue-green turquoise is. The polish is quite thin, and even with three coats on my nails, I still had translucent spots that looked pretty bad. I would need four coats to get full coverage, which is quite a lot. However, it did dry quickly, which is a huge plus for this polish. I did end up with bubbles and bumps in the nail polish after it dries, which was really disappointing, but sometimes you've got to take the bad with the good and, in this case, the good is the shade of turquoise and it is sooooo worth it.

Deodorants -LUSH - Coconut Deodorant Powder
rated 1 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 11:41:00 PM

Very difficult to apply - the powder gets everywhere, even when I use a brush to apply it. It smells wonderful, but doesn't do a thing to mask odor. It's fine as a body powder applied for the scent only, but doesn't do a thing as a deodorant. Even the LUSH S.A. told me it is used best with another LUSH deodorant. I don't really see the point of doing double-duty. I want a deodorant that works on its own.

Deodorants -LUSH - Aromaco Deodorant
rated 2 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 11:32:00 PM

This is the first non-powder LUSH deodorant I'd ever used. The smell was a bit strong, but it was bearable. But within the first few minutes of rubbing this little bar on my skin, my skin started to burn and I got the hugest, red, itchy, burning rash over the entirety of both of my armpits. The pain and itch was excruciating. I passed it on to a friend who has not had the skin reaction I had and who loves it and finds it a great natural deodorant, but I won't be buying it again!

Deodorants -LUSH - Aromacreme [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 11:28:00 PM

This is the best-smelling deodorant EVER. I would buy shampoo and conditioner and shower gel and perfume in this scent if they ever created it! Okay, so the smell is awesome. But the deodorant... well, it's HURTY! It leaves my armpits raw, red, burny, and peely-fleshy. Gross! It looks bad and it hurts bad and it's so not worth the gorgeous amazing beautiful scent. It killed me to pass this along to a friend, but she's having no adverse reaction to it and loves it and smells great. It definitely works to cover up odor and I love how easy it is to just rub the soft cream right on my skin - so smooth and silky and almost powdery. But that burn. Oh the burn. It took days to go away after I discontinued use.

Deodorants -Nature's Gate - Persimmon and Rose Geranium Deodorant
rated 1 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 11:24:00 PM

Every time I would go to the health food store, I would stop by the deodorant aisle and sniff this deodorant. Rose Geranium is quite possibly my favorite scent in the entire world, so I was incredibly enticed by this product. When I used up all my deodorants and was in the market for more natural deodorant, I decided to give this one a shot. It was the most unexpectedly horrific experience. I applied this around 7:00 a.m. and by the time I got to work at 8:00 a.m., I smelled like rotten persimmons and B.O. I had a full day of work that day followed by a drive to a class and then a 3.5 hour class that night. It was a 16 hour day, easily, and this deodorant didn't even get me through the first hour. By the time I was in class, I wouldn't raise my hand to ask questions because the stench seeping out of my armpits was so horrific. It's the stuff horror movies are made of. I do not exaggerate! HONEST!!! So I came home and I jumped in the shower, and no amount of scrubbing with soap, a shower poof, and a washcloth would completely remove this stench. It was horrible. I thought it was perhaps a one-time body chemistry thing and like an idiot I applied it again the next morning and brought it with me to work. On my lunch hour, I returned it and to this day, I associate the scent of that particular deodorant with the worst B.O. that I've not only ever personally had, but with the worst B.O. I've ever encountered on another human being in my entire life. WARNING: THIS IS NOT A DEODORANT! IT IS A B.O. ADHESIVE AND ENHANCER!!! Why oh why is it not possible to award a product negative lippies? This one deserves a kajillion bazillion negative lippies!

Deodorants -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Therapeutic Deodorant - Lavender
rated 4 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 11:13:00 PM

I use this as my alternate deodorant, during the weeks I "take off" from my Oyin Funk Butter. I hated this product when I first began using it. It made me stink worse than I would have stunk if I'd applied nothing at all to my pits. Mid-day reapplications didn't help. I'd come home from work and immediately have to shower because I couldn't stand to be around myself. Then I discovered that during my monthly cycle, most likely due to skin chemistry reasons, it works wonderfully on me. I also noticed that when I'm not having my period, if I use this every day for a while, my body starts to get used to it and a mid-day reapplication for about two weeks will get me through the day, and after two weeks of constant wear, I don't need to reapply at all. it's almost like my body just needs time to get used to it and then it's fine. So while it was really tough to get past those first weeks of uber-stank, it's all good in the end. I have a feeling that once I use up my stash of other deodorants in about six months, I'll return to this brand as my permanent deodorant. I love that it's all natural, that the roll-on product dries quickly on my skin, it doesn't leave residue on my clothing, and (after the break-in period) it works well to control odor. I don't care for the lavender scent - it's a bit strong in this deodorant, but then again, I've never been too keen on lavender. Next time, I'll go for one of the other scents.

Treatments -Natura Bisse - Diamond Drops
rated 3 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 11:08:00 PM

First, I marked that I would buy this product again, but my caveat is that I will only buy it again if I inherit a fortune. Holy smokes is this stuff expensive! And honestly, as good as it is, I don't think it's quite worth it. I have a sample that I'm using and I really do love it and don't want to run out of it. I do like that just a tiny couple of drops will cover my entire face. It's extremely silky and just *feels good* going onto my skin. My skin actually feels significantly less oily since I started using this product, and it almost doubles as a great primer before I apply my foundation - my mineral foundation goes on much more smoothly than it did before I started using this, even though I know that's not a feature of this product as far as how it's marketed. I know that with two weeks' worth of use, I'm already seeing a difference. My skin appears to be rejuvenated and doesn't look as tired as it did before. It's almost like it's reversing the effect age, sun, and stress has had on my skin - and that's only after two weeks. Still, I can't justify the expense to buy a full size - not when I could take that same $300 and put a new window in my cold, drafty house.

Mascara -Fresh - Supernova
rated 2 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 11:01:00 PM

This makes my lashes look gorgeously full, long, and very, very shiny. I have to not blink for a bit after applying, however, or it smears quite easily as it takes a long time to dry. It's also extremely goopy and slippery for the first few weeks of use - waaaay too much mascara comes out on the wand, making it difficult to apply without making a mess. Anyway, when I leave for work in the morning, my eyelashes look long, curly, full, dark, and very pretty. Three hours later, I'm dealing with racoon eyes for the rest of the day. This is by far the WORST mascara I've ever used in the smudge-department. I do actually use it now on my upper lashes, but I use a different mascara on my lower lashes, which are the ones I have the most problems with smudging. Once I'm done with my tube of Supernova, I will not buy it again.

Scrubs -Unlisted Brand - Villainess Smooch in Gingersnapped
rated 4 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 10:57:00 PM

Excellent product! So good I gave some to my sister for Christmas. I am completely enamored by the way this warms up on contact with my skin. It's so sexy in a completely innocent kind of way (that makes no sense, does it?) It smells like gingersnap cookies - a good, strong, dark, spicy ginger scent. Yum - makes me hungry! It's a phenomenal scrub for my face, feet, and body. It dries out quickly, and I don't like having to scrub my skin with dried-out scrub. I also kept coming across huge, dry, hard chunks of sugar, which were unuseable, and which actually took up a lot of product space - I feel like I threw away at least 10% of this jar due to the unuseable impenetrably hard chunks of brown sugar scrub. I also didn't like that the print on the outside of the tub wears off, often leaving little black flakes of printed material in my tub to get stuck to my skin, and leaving the jar looking smudgy, worn, and kind of scrappy. But overall, the product is great and I do hope to use up some of my other scrubs so I can buy more of this again.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Villainess Dulces En Fuego
rated 2 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 10:52:00 PM

Dulces in Fuego was supposed to smell like... spicy chocolate or something like that? To me, it just smelled like soap. Really strong soapy soap. I smelled absolutely nothing else. Now, the lather of this soap is amazing, as is all Villainess soap lather, but I buy etailer soaps not just for the lather or the moisturizing properties, but I'm a scent addict, and I need a good scent with the soap. This one wasn't very fun at all to use up because it smelled so strongly of detergent-like soap and nothing else. I was thrilled when I'd used up this bar. I will continue to buy Villainess, but this wasn't a good scent for me (although I do have a couple friends who love it).

Styling Products -Jessicurl - Gelebration Spray
rated 2 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 10:50:00 PM

Bah. Not a great product. It leaves my hair stiff and crunchy, unlike the RR, which I can't even detect in my hair once it dries. The Gelebration Spray comes out of the spray bottle in one direct, thin stream. It doesn't mist in the least, so it's really tough to scrunch through my hair, too. I used up a bottle of this just so it wouldn't go to waste, but it really didn't do for me what the Rockin Ringlets does. I do get good curls, but they're crunchy and wet-looking. If I "fluff" out my curls after they dry, they droop quickly, even if I've used the Confident Coils solution with it. It's not a horrible product, but since I can choose the Rockin Ringlets instead of this, I'm certainly going to.

Styling Products -Jessicurl - Confident Coils Styling Solution
rated 5 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 10:46:00 PM

Love it love love it love love love it!!! I use this every single day with my RR and a teensy dollop of Oyin Whipped Pudding. My hair has never been so happy as since I started using this and RR about 10 months ago. My 2B curls are gorgeous and stay curly all day. I get tons of compliments on my curls. I rarely see frizzies anymore - it's all curls all the time. I use about half as much as I use of RR. I have long, past-my-bra-strap hair, and I use one pump of this in my hair after I rinse it. I scrunch it through my hair, and have never had crunchy or weighted-down hair. It's a permanent part of my personal hair care product line. For the amount I use and how long it lasts, it's well worth the initial up-front expense of buying a liter or even a gallon.

Styling Products -Jessicurl - Awe Inspiraling Spray
rated 1 of 5
edenssixthday 2/8/2008 10:39:00 PM

This is the worst Jessicurl product I've used. It does NOTHING for my hair. I may as well be spraying water on it. It doesn't bring life back to my hair when I need a mid-day pick-me-up. It doesn't help my hair look better if I choose to not wash it in the morning. It does absolutely nothing to reduce bedhead. It really doesn't do anything. I also don't like that the mist is so fine. It's just a worthless product, IMO. I love all the other Jessicurl products that I've tried, however. The rest are all winners - this is the only loser for me.
