Powder -Clinique - Almost Powder Makeup SPF 15

Finally writing a review after years of using this! A little background: I'm acne prone/combo, broken capillaries, sensitive to whatever I stick on my face. Also using Differin and Erythromycin 2% topical for acne. I use CeraVe moisturizer (no spf) as a primer, and cleanse with Cetaphil. If I need extra moisture, I use Clinique Moisture Surge Intense at night (too tacky for day use). I use a very soft EcoTools Kabuki brush to apply. Almost Powder looks mostly natural and stays put for about 8 hours in the office, then I blot/touch up some shine before I leave or before going to dinner. It can settle in to lines a bit, but not enough to upset me. I prefer powders, light to medium coverage, and it does well. I can get away with very little concealer using it. Overall, my only complain is the color matching. 03 Light is a smidgen dark/pink for me, and 02 is ok in the winter only (with lots of moisture so I don't look like a ghost with it). After trying so many different powder foundations (my apologies to Ulta), I keep coming back to my favorite.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Matte Foundation spf 15

I tried BE Original several years ago, but the bismuth in it made me itch like crazy by the afternoon, especially in warmer weather. I recently tried the Matte, thinking the bismuth in the Original formula was the problem. First issue was the color recommended to me, Medium Beige. Too dark/orange. Another SA switched me to Fairly Light. Better, but a bit too yellow for my reddish neutral skin. Also, doesn't cover well and looks flat compared to my usual Clinique Almost Powder makeup. Second issue started three days into use. It made the skin around my mouth and chin burn and peel. Also, I have two new cystic nodules on my chin, and some mild acne on my cheeks and hairline. I wanted to like this, but back to the store it goes.

Concealers -Clinique - Acne Solutions Clearing Concealer

I really wanted to like this concealer, but no such luck. My search for a quality, non-acnegenic concealer will continue. Pros: Good coverage, color matched well, fairly long lasting. Cons: It dries much too fast to effectively blend, and looks very flaky (probably due to the kaolin in it). Also didn't seem to do anything for cystic acne, but may have slightly helped smaller pimples.

Pressed Powders -BeneFit Cosmetics - Get Even
rated 4 of 5

This is a remnant product from my bad experiences with You Rebel Lite and Some Kinda Gorgeous. It's great at correcting the ruddiness/redness in my complexion when used on top of another foundation. By itself, it's a little too yellow for me, and drying. I use a powder brush to apply it. It makes my pores seem smaller, and holds down the shine for about 4 hours (not the greatest durability, but I have quite an oily t-zone). Perhaps in the winter, it'll last longer. I am currently using this on top of Clinique Almost Powder #04. It's a little pink for my face, but when I use Get Even #2 over it, it's perfect.

Crème -BeneFit Cosmetics - Some Kind-A Gorgeous
rated 3 of 5

I returned You Rebel Lite recently due to irritation from the sunscreen in it, and the SA suggested I try this. The color doesn't match as great as YRL (slightly too dark/pink for me), and is more streaky. I've tried the sponge, a foundation brush and my fingers. The sponge works best, but still not ideal. The coverage is less than YRL as well. You really need nice skin to use this product. It doesn't cover my red post-acne spots or blue veins under my eyes. It doesn't stay as well as YRL, and gets slimy after about 3 hours. It slides right off my nose, even after setting with Get Even powder. Think I've about given up with BeneFit. The only thing I really like so far is the Get Even powder. Cute packaging, but too expensive for it's low performance and small quantity of product.

Tinted Moisturizer -BeneFit Cosmetics - You Rebel Lite Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15

I'm somewhat new to tinted moisturizers, and gave this a try. It's easy to blend/apply, and absorbs well. The color is a great match for me. I used Get Even #2 powder to set it. The coverage is thin but decent, but it doesn't wear well after about 4 hours. I end up a little too shiny by then, and it smears/melts. Also, the sunscreen in it burns my skin (stings for about 30 minutes after applying). I had to return this product due to the irritation. Back to using Clinique Almost Powder #04 for now. It's a little pink for my face, but when I use Get Even over it, it's perfect.

Mascara -Almay - Pure Blends Mascara
rated 1 of 5

I, too, had high hopes for this mascara. I've used Almay One Coat several times, and it works fairly well. This formula is absolutely horrid; it dries before you can apply it, flakes and clumps while applying, and particles end up in your eyes and all over your face. I don't think any of it actually stuck to my eyelashes. I got so frustrated, I threw it in the trash can today! :(
