BB Cream -Lumene - Vitamin C+ Illuminating Anti-Age BB Cream
eadinsmo 4/6/2013 7:33:00 PM
I decided to try this out because I haven't bought any other BB creams, but Lumene is generally a good brand (plus there was a sale at CVS). I got the Light color and it works great! It smells fine, slightly citrus-y, but the smell fades away quickly. It's about $15/tube but cheaper on sale. It actually reminds me of Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer - in that it is a light foundation and not really a moisturizer! If your skin is dry, you still need moisturizer underneath. But if your skin tone is good, you probably don't need foundation on top of this (just concealer in the right spots).

Other -Unlisted Brand - Colgate Optic White
eadinsmo 4/6/2013 6:43:00 PM
I do like this toothpaste, and it's a good thing because I wound up with a ton of it! I had to return an electric toothbrush to Target but I was out of the time window, so all I could do was exchange for dental products. Colgate Optic White was in a 2-for-1 package, so I couldn't bring myself to choose anything else. Because I have sensitive teeth, I actually alternate this with Sensodyne. However, I've been quite pleased with the whitening effect. I followed a suggestion I got from a friend: when you're done brushing, spit but don't rinse immediately. Put on moisturizer, blow-dry hair, whatever - but leave it on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing. Much more visible whitening.

Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Golden Balm
eadinsmo 4/6/2013 6:35:00 PM
I would not have bought this except for the fact that the drugstore had small sample jars in a display for about $6. So I tried it. I think it moisturizes fine and makes my skin feel much more comfortable during the dry winter. But I can only use it at night because of the SMELL. It is annoying, though not overwhelming. I may try just using it on my neck and chest like over reviewers do. Although I said I'd buy it again, there are a lot of other products I like more and would probably re-purchase sooner. Overall, I think it works fine, but I definitely recommend the sample size to see if the smell bothers you.

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Deep Renewal
eadinsmo 4/6/2013 6:05:00 PM
My lips have been really chapped this winter and my usual products haven't been able to fix it. I bought this yesterday and used it a few times throughout the day. It's definitely working; my lipstick went on much smoother today. But I'd say this is more of a lip moisturizer than a lip balm. I swear it's absorbed almost immediately and it feels like it's just gone. I don't know how much it would protect, exactly, because it really doesn't feel like regular lip balm. I didn't have any irritation, but this product contains several chemical sunscreens. A lot of people are sensitive to one or more of them.

Treatments -Ponds - Clarant B3- Normal to Dry skin
eadinsmo 3/3/2013 4:48:00 PM
I bought this product at the same time I bought my Cerave PM lotion, because they both contain niacinamide. I definitely love the Cerave PM and didn't get around to using the Pond's Clarant until last month or so. I think it's great! I haven't been using it long enough to tell whether it's fading spots. But it's a fine moisturizer, it smells good, and it's a big jar for very little money. I haven't had a problem with it breaking me out, but very little ever does. I will say that it's not enough moisture for my 43-year-old face in the winter. Or not for daytime, anyway. My skin still looked too dry under makeup - but it will probably be fine in spring and summer.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in Pale Pink
eadinsmo 3/3/2013 2:20:00 PM
I bought this at the CCO about six months ago, and it's just lovely. I still have my old Pot Rouge in Blushed Rose, and it's still soft and usable (and barely dented because there is SO much product) but I've dropped it a few times and the top has chipped so much that it might be at the end of its lifespan. Anyway - Pale Pink is clearly a new and sheerer formulation, but it's much easier to apply and wear. I don't bother using it on my lips because it's too pale to do much good there. Pale Pink gives me a lovely "doll face" look, especially if I limit application to the apples of my cheeks. It sounds like it would look weird, but I've seen myself in store windows/mirrors in the winter with this application and it looks great on me. I like cream blushes in general, but especially for winter because my skin is dry. In fact, I often use lipstick for the purpose! I don't think this blush lasts forever (maybe 6 hours) but it's compact enough to travel with you.

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lips- Dolly
eadinsmo 3/3/2013 2:10:00 PM
I got this as part of a set at Sephora, and I like it very much. Even though I have not previously liked plumping glosses - I enjoyed the tingle that this one provides because it didn't quite burn. Subtle but noticeable plumping. The color is lovely by itself. It's a very nice MLBB nude mauve that can be worn with or without a lipliner or lipstick. I did find that any food or drinks I had while I was wearing this lipgloss tasted weird. It's an odd effect, but one I can live with.

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Pencil - Taupe
eadinsmo 3/3/2013 1:47:00 PM
This pencil is perfect for my brows! It is a great color, soft and smudgy. Might require reapplication after a few hours, but I really think that's better than an overdone brow look. It works for almost everyone, I find. I bought an extra one by accident and gave it to my mom because it's perfect for her brows too. Other positives: it's widely available at drugstores (in the U.S.) and cheap as dirt. Wet N Wild is frequently on sale, too. The only downside is that it's a long pencil. I whack it in half with a kitchen knife to fit it in my makeup bag.

Mascara -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Plump Mascara
eadinsmo 3/3/2013 1:40:00 PM
This product has a lot of negative reviews, but I had such a good experience that I wonder if it's a quality control issue. I usually buy Cover Girl mascara, but was away from home without it. I didn't want to spend the $9 or so for CG, so I got this one. It's great, actually. It lengthens, thickens, and colors my lashes really dark black. I don't think it stays on as well as CG (i.e., forever), which is why I'm not switching permanently. But it's pretty good! Especially for the price. I would definitely purchase again because I believe in switching out mascara tubes frequently for sanitary purposes.

Eyeliner -Unlisted Brand - LA Splash - Automatic Eyeliner in Powder Black
eadinsmo 3/3/2013 1:28:00 PM
I love this one too! I got it at Ulta and if I remember correctly, it's reasonably priced. It is a very soft eyeliner that smudges like hell. I like that for my purposes. Usually I am rushing to put some eyeliner under my upper lash line - I love tightlining and won't both doing eyeliner without it, but often don't have time to use a cream and brush. This is fast, gets some color where I want it, and doesn't irritate my eyes. (MANY eyeliner pencils do irritate my eyes so I'm thrilled when one does not). I think this would also make an awesome messy rock-star smoky eye for going out at night, if I ever did that anymore :)

Polishes -New York Color - In a New York Color Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish - Park Ave 246
eadinsmo 11/24/2012 1:48:00 PM
This was my first NYC nail polish, and I love it now just as much as I did when I first bought it. I was out of town, needed presentable toes for an outfit I was wearing, and had no time for a proper pedicure. I picked this up after a moment's thought at Target. I performed the most quick-and-dirty pedicure possible, slapping two coats of this polish on toes recently stripped of their old polish. Wow! It looked classy and expensive and just plain flattering. I actually got compliments. And even without basecoat or topcoat, it stayed in place for at least a week (maybe longer, I just can't remember). There are a lot of colors like this on the market. Some are a little more gray, or a little more purple. This one really works on me, although I have not had the same luck with other very similar colors from other brands.

Polishes -New York Color - In a New York Minute Quick Dry Polish - Flat Iron Green
eadinsmo 11/24/2012 12:45:00 PM
I've made a big fuss about how much I like these NYC Quick Dry polishes. Flat Iron Green applies nicely, doesn't chip (at least not in the first 3 days, and that's all I care about), and it's cheap! But the color itself...I don't love. It's a creme (no shimmer) and it's so dark green as to look nearly black. But even in the light, when you can see the green, all I can think of is "pond water." HOWEVER, after a couple of days I topped it with Spoiled Nail Polish in "Show Me the Money" which is sparkly green-gold glitter and it looks AWESOME. Very pretty and festive! So maybe that's what Flat Iron Green does best - act as a glitter backdrop. I'd buy it again just for that.

Polishes -New York Color - In A New York Color Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish - Bowery Black 272
eadinsmo 11/24/2012 12:35:00 PM
Love this polish! I'm not a cool-nail-polish kind of girl normally. In fact, I rarely paint my nails but I may start doing it more regularly, and why not? These NYC Quick Dry Polishes have a great, easy-to-use brush. They really do dry quickly. And they're only $2! I suppose I could wish for more colors, but so what. This Bowery Black isn't black, but is more like a gunmetal charcoal with sheen. I've had it on for 3 days (no base coat or top coat) and there's no chipping. I do keep my nails pretty short, so that might help. It's really sophisticated and classy looking, actually. It was a good purchase and I'd definitely buy again.

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Makeup Dissolving Foaming Cleanser
eadinsmo 8/4/2012 5:29:00 PM
I would've thought this was discontinued, since I bought it at Big Lots, but I'll be happy if I'm wrong. I use this in the shower in the morning, and I've been very pleased with it. Not drying or irritating, and it does seem to rinse very clean without much effort. I have a bunch of facial cleansers to use up before I buy another one, but I would definitely re-purchase this one.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow in Tough as Taupe
eadinsmo 8/2/2012 4:41:00 PM
Well, I bought this product because I was surprised to see it in Target and Taupe looked like the most neutral & normal color. I do like the packaging, the price, and the color, but...I can't make it work on my lids. It's just so matte and dull. It may be my age, because I love taupes but there's usually a bit of shimmer in my favorites to light them up. HOWEVER, a brilliant poster from a couple of months ago suggested using it on brows and yay! It works, my brows are filled in (matte-ly, of course) and the color doesn't go anywhere. I suspect this might be a great additional use for the product even for those ladies who like it as an eyeshadow (if the shade is right). Everyone loves a multi-use product.
