Hair Color -Clairol - Miss Clairol Conditioning Haircolor
dzoys 5/23/2011 8:05:00 PM
I get my hair highlighted for 15 years and every colorist manages to not understand how to get my highlights the alpine tone. Clairol has these awesome 9 level colors. Arctic blonde is a blue base, which i mix equally with flaxen blonde, a blue-violet base. It ALWAYS corrects the yellow tinge (which only i seem to notice in the first place). The new SOY line does the job as well. (yes i use shimmer lights, when that is not enough, clairol is net in line) 15 minutes max of clairol developed with #10 peroxide developer saved many colorists from getting beaten down). I also apply it to shampooed hair for the water weakens the peroxide even more (i do not desire lift and my hair lifts so easily- turns RED in the sun).

Powder -NARS - Powder Foundation
dzoys 3/30/2009 4:33:00 PM
i have a hard time finding a good foundation. i keep thinking i want good coverage but even with the best color-match it looks fake. so i decided to try light-med coverage. things improved but i wasn't impressed until i came across this product. i am using budapest, a shade darker than my skin but beings my face closer to matching the skin tone on my chest. i took two trips to sephra, applying in a split on my face. left side one color, right side the other. my boyfriend helped me choose the best shade, being that there are so many! i purchased NARS foundation base, the SA at sephora told me u can use it for all NARS foundations, powders too. so i gave it a go and it made the difference i needed! i have been trying to stay away from SPF bc it makes a white glare on my face when taking pictures. SPF 12 is just right- i get a little glow, it looks healthy. i mean the photographs took me by surprise... dead serious! when i apply this i feel like there is nothing on my face. but within like a half hour i look again i DO notice a difference, at that point i may reapply. so it takes some time to settle in. i reapply maybe 2 times during the day and once when out at night, altho it's not all that necessary. i actually have had a few compliments on my skin in the past week which is unusual for me (and never happened with my other foundations) ... i use a concealer for my blemishes. i found that depending on a high coverage foundation for this is a bad move for me, it lacks that natural HEALTHY look. the price is steep but after tossing out so many cheaper ones i feel at peace. it's cray hw i have just one powder now and even my liquid and creme foundations are in the trash, adding up to a pretty penny. yuck!

Crème -Revlon - New Complexion One-Step Compact Makeup

i rate it for the specific use i purchased it for. im kinda all over the place with it in the daytime i wear sunscreen foundations no problem. during hte night i do not need it and they ruin pictures. the camera flash with ANY spf leaves a white glare on the skin (undertandably bc they may be blocking invisible rays, however the formulas reflect certain visible rays. this product contains no sunscreen and it is worn in the night, where heavy coverage is ideal for me. i go al the way with bold eyeshadows-- but no cakee!! it is very decent for touching up throughout the night. it photographs decent-- no pink. need to investigate on more pics but there is no spf glare which is a SUPERRR start. i h8 that spf shine boooo! as i apply all foundations i tap lightly under my chin, down my neck and blend @ my chest, since my face is ALwAYS sunscreened minimum spf 30- little pale. COLOR: SAND BEIGE blends well! no pink hue yayyy! doesnt change color much0 i havent noticed. i can't tell you about how easy or difficult if it to take off because i am very ocd with anything touching my face. it SERIOUSLY doesnt happen. packaging is so lame. there are vents in the compartment which holds the sponge. all soil that penetrates through those holes will contaminate and cause breakouts. i placed a piece of thin plastic i scissored and took care of that ;)

ok so this comes with a GABA cream and a hyaluronic acid pump gel. i have tried many GABA creams and they all make me break out. so, to avoid that, i apply it, do my thing for 20 minutes, go back to the mirror and wash it off. once the drug penetrates, there is no need for the dry cream to sit on my face. so wash it off! voila! no zits. it does as it says... relaxes my forehead (the only area i am using it for) the hyaluronic gel i apply with a q-tip and literally try my best to "fill" the creases that are o-so-deep in the morning. like the GABA cream, i do this and leave it in for 20 minutes while i get dressed or make breakfast. so 20 minutes later i wash it off and continue my regimen and my forehead looks may times better. it's not a miracle product but it will yield results. if you are using it on your eyebeds- which u shouldn't put ANY chemical there- i can understand why irritation would occur. like i said, i avoid the breakouts by washing it off after absorption, proceed with my regimen, and i am ready for my day. my forehead has very deep wrinkles in the morning bc i am a tense person and it plagues me in my sleep. i frequently get massage for my neck and shoulders. and this product does the trick for my face bc i hate getting facials done more than once every few weeks. bottom line- smearing this stuff all over your face IMO is a misuse. use it as a spot treatment for temporary results and you will be fine. if botox isn't permanent, neither is this.

Masks -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - 30% Glycolic Acid Home Chemical Peel Kit
dzoys 12/15/2008 1:20:00 PM
i use 30%. first peel was 5 minutes, second was 8 minutes, 3rd was 10 minutes (max) after my second peel (which was a week later), my professor said my face was glowing (i know in school LOL). my face cleared up- now the purging i find most interesting of all. turns out i had more blackheads than i thought. 3 days after the second peel i pinched my skin a bit (urging the purging) and blackheads out of NOWHERE were OOZING out of my skin. those pimples stuck in my skin, closed at the surface of my pores are coming out still but with much less inflammation. i suggest you DO NOT pick the face at all bc it will bring out some reddish spots. at the rate my skin was clearing it was actually noticeable !! the rest of my skincare is yves-roche, but i use pure rose water as a toner. i wear spf 50 everyday anyhow. i am pale and have had sunburns from caribbean travels as a kid/teen. this did not help with much of my discoloration mainly bc i had sunspots (dr murad's 2% hydroquinone took care of that in 3 weeks) -- i had slight dark dry patches by where my sideburns would be, and now they are gone and that is the only area that has lightened. the dry spots on my face are gone. my skin responds better to moisturizers. i had a greasy forehead that wouldn't absorb anything before. now it has matte'd a bit, and absorbs my cream. yayyy! i do not have wrinkles so i can not comment on those types of results. i will not graduate to 40% i am too young to go that far. sloughing off the extra skin was what my adult acne needed. i will stay at 30% until i compete 8 peels (once a week) then see how long it takes for my old crappy skin to restore itself. THEN i will start up this regimen again. hopefully with less peels.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Waterproof
dzoys 11/19/2008 12:40:00 PM
this is drying. i have long lashes so i notice this and i have no doubts when a formula is dry and brittle where after some use the tip of my lashes break off. the cils pull my lashes also, causing some to fall out. looks great but it's like the hairspray of mascara- bad for the fibers!

Mascara -Dejavu (Imju) - Fiberwig Lash Knockout
dzoys 11/19/2008 12:09:00 PM
i have long lashes so this is a nightmare for upper long lashes. clumping, "feeling" it on my lashes. however, it gets 5 lippies for my bottom lashes. superb! no worry for pigment smudging. fabulous definition/extension. maybe a fiber here and there once in a while will get loose but its easily flicked off with my fingers. wish it came in brown... maybe one day

this is definitely the worst eye cream i have ever tried. it just sat on my face and evaporated. didn't think twice about trashing the rest after one week of use.

Mascara -Christian Dior - DiorShow BlackOut Waterproof
dzoys 11/13/2008 6:38:00 PM
great false lash look. my lashes curl naturally do i can't give feedback on how it handles curling. it goes on and stays on... for a good two days i dont mess with it and MAYBE here and there i can separate a lash or two with a needle. do NOT wear this mascara if you intend on taking it off under 48 hours. you will have to irritate your lash roots out to do this, no makeup remover will do the trick. but for the first 48 hours it behaves so well... ahh... it lost a lippie bc of the difficulty in taking it off. if u tried the diorshow blackout (regular) this formula is the bipolar opposite!

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Black Out Mascara
dzoys 11/13/2008 6:32:00 PM
gives that fake lash look. one of best out there for that purpose. beware-put your coats on right away. this is no "bad gal" time taker... took off a lippie bc i got a drop of rain in my eye... a few minutes later it looked like i got punched in my eye. it dissolves very easily in water. good for removal- bad for crying or the raindrop that fell on my eye. also, i dropped one on a tile bfloor and it shattered. so strange... at the time i was stupid so i coughed up another 30-ish dollars to replace it right away. i would buy it again in making an emotional decision. which isnt a bad thing.
