Sunscreen -Biore - UV Perfect Face Milk SPF 50+
rated 5 of 5
dvdgal 12/22/2011 1:53:00 PM

I use this sunscreen after my beloved Sofina - Perfect UV (UV cut milk Extra Block) SPF 50 + PA +++ got discontinued. Pros: - It has PA+++. SPF only block UVB rays, which can cause skin-related cancers. Only PA or PD are the measures of block UVA rays, which causes skin aging and skin darkening. Don't fall for nowadays marketing scheme about high SPF will prevent aging. It's not absolutely true! - It controls shine on oily skin so well that I would recommend non-oily skin ladies stay away from this sunscreen. It really sucks up all oil from your skin and leaves a very matte effect once it dries up. (guess this can be a con as well) - It hasn't broken me out yet. I've only been using it for a few weeks. I will update this review after a few months Cons: - It's expensive in my opinions consider the amount I get from the package. - Hard to find. I bought it from amazon and it took 2 weeks to arrive. - Can be drying if you don't have oily skin. I like this project so far. But the ultimate test would be summer time. So I will keep you ladies posted.

It's a great sunscreen, unfortunately it's been discontinued. What is Sofina thinking? Pros: - It has PA+++. SPF only block UVB rays, which can cause skin-related cancers. Only PA or PD are the measures of block UVA rays, which causes skin aging and skin darkening. Don't fall for nowadays marketing scheme about high SPF will prevent aging. It's not absolutely true! - It controls shine - It has reasonable pricing - It does not breakout on my skin Cons: - Discontinued! - Had to buy it online After a long search, I have found a comparable if not better alternative sunscreen, which is Biore UV Perfect Face Milk SPF 50+++.

Treatments (Eye) -Avene - Soothing Eye Contour Cream

I used the whole thing. It's soothing alright. But that's about it. If you have dry patches around your eyes. I'm not sure this will help it in any ways. There are a lot more richer eye cream out there...

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub
rated 4 of 5
dvdgal 8/2/2011 4:42:00 PM

I've used up 2 tubes. It's a great basic scrub. If you are in your teens and 20s, and have super oily skin and moderate acne problem. Try this one out. Use it every other day. Now I'm in my 30s, I use Korean peeling gel to exfoliate instead. Less drying and more gentle. But peeling gel is harder to find and several times more expensive than this scrub. Updates on 12/22/2011 - Nowadays I use this scrub once a week during shower. Laneige Strawberry Soft Peeling Gel is good and gentle, but I consider peeling gel as a daily maintenance routine. St. Lves Apricot Scrub is more powerful and effective. So, I use it once or twice a week before bedtime.

I'm in my 30s and have super oily + acne-prone skin. This foundation broke me out. It looks nice when the makeup is set. It gives a nice glow. But it does not stay put.

Treatments (Eye) -Laneige - Perfect Renew Dual Touch Eyes
rated 2 of 5
dvdgal 8/2/2011 4:29:00 PM

I got samples from the shop where I bought Laneige sleeping pack and peeling gel. I hate this dual eye cream. The day time SPF cream is not moisturizing enough and irritate my eyes. Night time cream just purely not moisturizing enough for my 30s skin.

Cleansers -Laneige - Multi-Cleanser
rated 2 of 5

I had a sample from the shop I buy Laneige's sleeping pack and peeling gel. My skin does not like this cleanser one bit... Very drying!! My face feels it's going to crack and I have super oily skin. Johnson & Johnson Baby head-to-toe shower gel is a lot better. See my review on the shower gel for details.

Treatments -Laneige - Laneige Strawberry Soft Peeling Gel
rated 4 of 5
dvdgal 8/2/2011 4:22:00 PM

At this moment, I love this product. I'm on my 4th tube. First 2 tubes were the previous formula. I'm using the latest formula. It's still ok, but not as effective as the previous version. And the tube seems smaller than before. Pros: - If you have ridiculously oily + acne-prone skin, then use this everyday. That's the Korean lady told me, whom I bought the peeling gel from. The reason I suffered severe acne because I had too much dead skin-cell sitting on my face and mixed with my oily skin. Lethal! - This peeling gel is gentle enough to use daily. I've tried it for almost a year. Sometimes twice a day. I only have one or two pimples during my period every month now compared to having 10 cystic pimples at the same time prior using this peeling gel. - pricing is ok - I find peeling gel a lot gentler and less drying than traditional scrub and does the job just as well. Cons: - Hard to find. Either buy it online or you have a Korean skincare shop nearby. - Latest version is less effective than previous formula. May be that's the reason why I need to use it twice daily now.

Masks -Laneige - Water Sleeping Pack
rated 5 of 5

At this moment, I love this mask. I've gone three jars now. I'm in my 30s, so moisturizing is very important to me; yet I can't use anything too rich because of my oily + acne-prone skin. This mask fits the bill perfectly. Pros: - I use it every night. My face glows the next morning. Sometimes, I use it alone after clay mask. Or use it on top of BP gel or AHA cream. Without this mask, my skin will get dry and irritated with all the acne skincare products. - keeps my face moisturize enough and calm my face. - it's relatively cheap Cons: - take time to dry - my face is still oily when I wake up.

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
rated 4 of 5
dvdgal 8/2/2011 4:00:00 PM

I'm reviewing the tube package. If you have moderate acne or under control but acne-prone skin, then this mask is heavenly for you. Pros: - It's sulfur does help for acne. - Dirt cheap - Suck up exceeding oil of your skin Cons: - If you are in your 30s, then you can't use it more than 3 times a week even you have unbelievably oily skin. It's too drying. - I didn't like this mask when I'm in my 20s because my acne was really worse at that time. 10 cystic pimples on my face at anytime was just a usual. Sulfur does help for acne, but not as effective as BP or BHA. Bottom line is this works for me when I have moderate acne with oily + acne-prone skin. I use it at night time. I put it on after shower for an hour. Rinse it off and then put on Laneige Sleeping pack and go to bed. Next morning, my skin glows and gets clearer. I do that once or twice a week, alternating with Epiduo BP gel and AHA cream on other nights of the week.

Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Honey Lip Treatment SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
dvdgal 8/2/2011 3:46:00 PM

My friend recommends it to me and she uses Rose. I found Honey more natural on me so I can use it at work. I really like this lip balm. It's moisturizing enough, color is great and it has SPF 15! I gave it 4 lips instead of 5 because of the stiff price. It is expensive. But I like it more than a lipstick.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
rated 4 of 5
dvdgal 8/2/2011 3:40:00 PM

I've been using this gel-cream since 2008. It's been so many jars. But having said that, I'm not completely loyal to this moisturizer. Pros: - Does not break out my oily + acne-prone skin - Does have oily-control effect - The silicon is great for makeup and minimizes pore size Cons: - If you are in 30s, you will need something else before this gel-cream because it's not moisturizing enough - It has no SPF - Not cheap and packaging sucks... Now that I'm in my 30s, I need something more moisturizing but not rich because of my oily + acne-prone skin type... I really have a love and hate relationship with this gel-cream because if I use this moisturizer, then I need to pile up so many products: (1) a serum, (2) this gel-cream, (3) sun-screen and (4) makeup or BB cream I'm only using this during the day and still searching for a better moisturizer. But at the mean time, I keep buying this.

Treatments -Skinceuticals - Hydrating B5 Gel
rated 4 of 5
dvdgal 8/2/2011 3:25:00 PM

I've been using this gel on and off since 2007. I always stop using it when my skin gets better because it is expensive. This is a very good moisturizer for oily + acne-prone skin. When I was in my 20s, I only needed this gel as a moisturizer. Once I hit my 30s, this is no longer moisturize enough. I will need another moisturizer on top of this gel. But my skin is always calmer and healthier when I use it. That's why I keep coming back to this expensive gel.

Skincare - Body -Johnson & Johnson - Head to Toe baby wash
rated 5 of 5
dvdgal 8/2/2011 3:11:00 PM

I have acne skin, and this cleanser fits me perfectly. It's dirt cheap, removes all of my makeup (even eye makeup), non-drying and no scent! I use it as my face and body wash. I also use it to wash my makeup brushes! I think everyone should try it. If it doesn't work out for you as a face wash, use it as body wash or hand soap. It's cheap and you can get it everywhere! Highly recommended!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Galderma - Epiduo (aka Tactuo in Canada)
rated 5 of 5
dvdgal 2/4/2011 6:51:00 PM

I've been struggling with acne for almost 5 years now since started in my late 20s. Tried almost everything. Nothing really works or works as well as this gel. The closest success I had was using acne.org's BP treatment. It worked as long as you started slowly and keep using it consistently. However, the treatment is bit drying and sadly, you just have to stick with it every single day. Absolutely no day off! Otherwise, your acne will just come back and haunt you again. I almost gave up.... and then I went to see a new derm and she gave me Epiduo. I was absolutely skeptical to begin with, but still went ahead. I was in shock when I first applied this gel on my face. It dried up really fast and just sank into my face within 30 sec; whereas Acne.org's treatment took 3-5 mins to dry up. Next morning, my skin just had a glow and I could feel that those cystic acne had calmed down. I was so happy! I kept using it for 2 weeks every night. Wrong move! By the end of 2 weeks, my face had turned red, dry and itching. It had gotten so bad, I couldn't apply any sunscreen without having burning sensation afterward for minutes. I got depressed again. I went to see my family doctor for annual checkup. She looked at my face and sensed my gloomy ora. She recommended her esthetician to me. I went because my doctor's skin has gotten a lot better compares to few years ago when I first started seeing her. So I thought why not? The esthetician did a great job on black and white heads extracting - a lost art! I personally think. Absolutely hurt! My eyes became waterfalls instantly and couldn't stopped. But she told me a few things that made me keep seeing her every three weeks. (1) hydrate your skin after applied any treatment several minutes later (2) take one or two days off every week from treatment (3) depending on your skin type and problem, scrub your face daily. I scrub my face twice everyday now. People said never scrub your face more than twice per week. That's just guideline, NOT fact! My skin simply had too much dead-cell piled up and mixed with skin oil to fare up so badly. Now, I scrub off all dead-cell and with using Epiduo, I haven't had one single pimple for a whole month and I just had my period! After using this gel for almost 3 months, my skin is all clear and skin tone has evened out! I no longer need foundation for daily life now! One last thing I highly recommend is try out Johnson and Johnson's baby shower gel as facial wash. Takes off makeup/sunscreen completely and super gentle. I used to use Cetaphil and thought it was great. But now, there's no competition. Cataphil is gentle but can't take off makeup nor sunscreen, ergo your skin will be clogged. Fingers crossed to me and good luck to you all!
