Skincare - Body -Palmers - Skin Smoothing Lotion with AHA/BHA
dvdfjojo 6/26/2012 7:48:00 AM
OH MY GOD! This stuff is brilliant. I've been using it everywhere, even my face, for the past few weeks and my skin has never felt so soft and beautiful. It's permanent too, I get out of the shower and it's still soft and hydrated. Hubby has noticed how soft my skin is feeling too. I'm not too keen on the smell of the product but I've never known anything really work as well as this before. Absolute HG product and a bargain too.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Nails Inc - Porchester Square
dvdfjojo 5/3/2012 5:42:00 PM
This is beautiful. I've nevered been really impressed by Nails Inc polish before, it's usually been streaky, too thin and patchy in colour. This is totally different. It's a beautiful dirty lilac/grey/taupish colour and I could probably have got away with a single coat. It goes on quite thickly and evenly, levelling itself to a perfect glossy, forgiving polish. It really does go on like a dream and looks perfect which is no mean feat with my poor application skills. I am pale skinned with cool tones and the colour is so flattering Full marks from me, this is lush.

Mascara -MAC - Zoom lash
dvdfjojo 12/22/2011 1:13:00 PM
Wow, I'm surprised this hasn't got a higher rating. I bought a Christmas gift set from the UK MAC website and they sent a sample of this along with my lovely set. i just find it really easy to use, it individually coats & separates my lashes and people have commented that my lashes look lovely. It's a good rich black and it's not impossible to remove which is important to me as some mascaras are so difficult to remove, I end up losing some lashes when I take my mascara off. I'd definitely buy a full size one next time I'm in town, it's now my fave mascara. Have previously used all of elf's, Max Factor, Maybelline, Estee Lauder, Benefit BadGal, Heroine Make Kiss Me, Rimmel Glameyes & Wet'n'Wild as a comparison - I prefer this one to any of those. I have a new mascara from Nouveau Lashes that I haven't tried yet but so far, this is my fave.

Blush -La Femme - Coral Spice - Blush on Rouge
dvdfjojo 12/3/2011 12:35:00 PM
This blush is just gorgeous - it's like a blush and highlighter in one. It's very strongly pigmented so very little is needed and it lasts all day. I have many colours of the La Femme blushes but this is my 'go to' colour - it's a pretty light pinky peach with a sheen that's perfectly suited to pale skin like mine (NW15-20) I feel it would suit both warm and cool toned skin though. Will try and get a swatch of it in good light to add as a photograph.

Moisturizers -Cerave - Facial Moisturizing Lotion - PM
dvdfjojo 11/19/2011 3:50:00 PM
Picked this up in Seattle while on my honeymoon in September and use it every day now. I have dry, wrinkled skin that's really sensitive so I have to be careful with products that have irritants. Nothing in this has made my skin flare up so far and I've started to have some positive comments about my skin for the first time. It soaks in enough so that my foundation doesn't slip off and makes my skin feel soft, supple and a bit plumper. It's just a great moisturiser that seems to be perfect for my skin. I use it for a daytime moisturiser rather than night though as I use my retinaldehyde products overnight. I don't 'do' direct sunlight though and if ever I am going to be outside for more than a few minutes, I will wear a sunscreen on top. This is my HG everyday moisturiser after lots of searching.

Polishes -Orly - Plum Noir
dvdfjojo 11/19/2011 3:43:00 PM
This is such a beautiful deep plum colour that is so flattering on pale skin. Two coats was perfect and with a bit of seche vite on top, was beautifully shiny. The picture above is true to how it looks, it's become my favourite nail polish now that winter's coming. I'm loving everything plum and rust coloured at the mo.

Other -Unlisted Brand - This Works Sleep - deep calm pillow spray
dvdfjojo 11/19/2011 3:41:00 PM
I recently stayed in London at a Crowne Plaza Hotel and this little beauty was in a box on my pillow - ooh, free stuff, how could I resist. "A fusion of calming oils to relax and calm including lavender, vetivert and camomile" Just spray on your pillow for a perfect night's kip! Okey dokey then, here we go. Wow, you know that wonderful 'spa' smell when you're going for a wonderful massage - it's that smell. It's just yummy and pampery, I just keep spraying more on and burying my nose in the pillow. Might have to spray it on hubby's pillow too as he dribbles on his when he sleeps and it a bit rank! Don't know if it helped my sleep but it smells yum and made me happy so it's a winner for me :-)

Cleansers -Estee Lauder - Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser
dvdfjojo 11/19/2011 3:35:00 PM
I shouldn't love this but I do. Sometimes, when you've used an oily makeup remover or your skin just feels gunky with product overload, I use this as it makes your skin feel so clean it squeaks. Now I know skin isn't supposed to squeak and for it to do so, means that your essential barrier is pretty much gone but I can't resist it every now and again. It just feels clean and ready to drink up your serums, treatments, moisturiser. Probably appalling for your skin but it just feels so clean afterwards and it lathers up beautifully and it smells gorgeous too and I kinda just love it. So I'll continue to use it on occasion but I definitely couldn't use it daily, it's far too harsh for that.

Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer
dvdfjojo 11/19/2011 3:05:00 PM
I'm on the fence with this one. It seems to cover well but it just seems to make under my eyes look even more wrinkly/cakey than if I'd not used any. It's perfect for dotting onto any blemishes or covering any blotchiness but under my eyes is just awful. So great for covering marks but awful under the eyes for me. The search continues...

Eye Shadow -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Stay-In-Place ShadowCreme in Ivory Lace
dvdfjojo 11/19/2011 3:01:00 PM
Bought this at John Lewis a couple of weeks ago and have worn it every day in place of Urban Decay Primer Potion. It seems to suit my wrinkly eyelids better, it doesn't crease and provides a perfect neutral, sheeny base for other colours to be packed on top. Love the smooth texture of it and once it's dried (which is fairly quickly but not so fast that you can't make sure it's all over your lid properly and evenly), it stays put and makes the colours you pop on top stay put too. It's my HG eyelid primer now, great stuff!!!

Blush -NYX - Taupe
dvdfjojo 11/7/2011 6:29:00 PM
Wowee, where have you been all my life, Nyx Taupe. I'm a super palie and bronzers look hysterical on me but I still wanted to try contouring. This is a dream, the perfect shadow colour on my skin, it looks amazing. On powder set foundation, it goes on and blends like a dream and stays put. You know when you buy something that surpasses everything you expect, well this product is it for me. Absolute HG powder contour - one more ticked off the list :-) Buy, buy, buy!

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Angled Eyeliner Brush
dvdfjojo 7/9/2011 3:05:00 PM
This was £5.61 from Boots so not the cheapest but not the dearest either. I can't say I've tried any other angled liner brushes so can't make a proper comparison - all I can say is that this is a lovely firmish brush that can draw a perfect thin line in either liner or shadow. I really can't think that it's possible to make a brush that does a better job. It's brilliant for doing your brows with shadow too. Absolutely love it, it's not so firm that it's scratchy and it's not so soft that it's hard to get that perfect thin line. All in all, it's just perfect :-) Having great success with the majority of their brushes - I reach for them most of the time now.

BB Cream -Unlisted Brand - Holika Holika - Petit BB Cream - Moisture SPF30
dvdfjojo 6/26/2011 11:00:00 AM
Well this is a revelation. This is now my 'go to' foundation every day. It matches my fair (NW15) colouring perfectly and gives a perfect dewy sheen, no glitter, just a healthy glow. The coverage is quite full and it feels lovely on my skin although it doesn't quite last the day out. It's lovely not to have to wear a sunscreen as this has such a high SPF too. Got it from ebay's bellogirl for about £6 so an absolute bargain. HG for sure, it's just lovely. UPDATE Nov 2011 - still use it every day, 3rd tube now, go grab it fellow palies, great for daily use at that price and save your really expensive foundations for special occasions.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cocomotion Pigment (Rushmetal)
dvdfjojo 6/19/2011 3:26:00 PM
A wonderful woman on here put this in as an extra when doing a swap and I absolutely love it. As I have very pale skin, golds can sometimes look strange on me. This one shimmers, catches the light and looks like I've got highlighter and a darker crease when I've just got this on. It's not too sparkly, it's just right and stays put like a dream on a primer. Really happy that I've got to try this as I've since seen that it was limited so will be hard to find in future. Thanks to my lovely swapping partner, I've got an amount that should last a good while before I need to hunt some down. Beautiful pigment, the first I've ever tried, and I do believe I'm hooked now - very little fallout, colour that stays bright and true without creasing all day - really, really impressed!

Eye Shadow -Illamasqua - pure pigment Furore
dvdfjojo 6/19/2011 2:29:00 PM
Wow, this is just beautiful as a highlight - the colour is a pinky/goldy/pearly mix and it almost looks 'wet' when applied. It gives a lovely sheen on top of your cheeks although you have to use sparingly. It also looks beautiful just under the brow where it just glistens as it catches the light. Nicest highlighter I've tried so far so would definitely buy again. Expensive for how much you get though but it should last aaaaaaages.
