Masks -DDF - Sulfur Therapeutic Mask [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5

I think this is a GREAT spot-treatment product for existing pimples, and pimples that you might feel forming underneath you skin. It heals or greatly reduces new pimples overnight, and usually, they are gone after 2-3 days of continuous use of this product. I find that the best way to take it off is to apply water directly rather than scraping it off. In the morning, however, when it has dried up, I take a towel and soak it under the sink with warm water and apply it to the area to take it off without rubbing it. I don't recommend using this product for your whole face if you have dry or sensitive skin, as it is too harsh in my opinion. I'm not sure if this is great for blackheads, I think a clay mask would work quicker. The smell is not great, but as long as it works, I really don't care. The proactiv mask that could be used as a spot-treatment also has sulfur in it, but this one has a higher concentration and I find it works way better than any ProActiv products for targeting blemishes. It is expensive, but one jar will probably last me a long time.

Pressed Powders -Laura Mercier - Smooth Focus Pressed Setting Powder - Shine Control
rated 5 of 5
dutchesskt 6/3/2012 9:03:00 PM

This is THE BEST powder for oil and shine touch-ups during the day. I really like the MUFE translucent powder as well, but sometimes, all you have is 3 seconds to touch up your face and carrying translucent powder around is not the most practical strategy. Don't let the green color throw you off; however, don't use too much of it because it WILL look unnatural. The powder absorbs any oil immediately and gives you face a matte finish. I sometimes use it to set my foundation. My skin is not really that oily, but I find that this prevents any shine throughout the day. Simply amazing product. Can't live without it.

Treatments (Eye) -Yves Saint Laurent - Temps Majeur Eye Cream
rated 5 of 5
dutchesskt 6/3/2012 8:54:00 PM

THIS IS THE BEST EYE CREAM for 1. dark circles 2. puffiness. I got a sample of this from the SA at Holt Renfrew, and after using it for a couple of days, I could already see a difference. There is mushroom extract and mother of pearl in this, which gives it the "instant" brightening effect for under you eyes. At first I thought this was just a gimmick, and more of a cover up for the problem, but after using it for the past 6 months, I can honestly say that this does have long-term benefits. I barely have any dark circles/puffiness when I wake up, even after staying up late, and I use it both morning AND night. The price hurts. It is very painful. $150 on an eye cream seems ludacris, but after trying so many products that didn't work, I bought this as a last resort and I'm so glad that I did! Now, I don't think this cream has long-term HYDRATING benefits, and sometimes, I put in a hydrating night cream on the side of my eyes where crows-feet would form and put this on my inner eye corner to tackle those dark circles and puffiness.

Bronzers -Yves Saint Laurent - Poudre de Soleil #1
rated 4 of 5

I switched to this bronzer from the NARS Laguna one, and I simply LOVE it. I use the #1 shade, and find it to be perfect for my fair skin tone. I use it everyday and the color is very buildable in my opinion without looking fake. There is a slight shimmer, but nothing that I can see on my face.

Bronzers -NARS - Laguna
rated 3 of 5

Being so devoted to NARS blushes, I really wanted to love the NARS Laguna bronzer. I am pretty fair skinned, and in my opinion, I found this bronzer to look a bit fake on my skin tone, despite using so little of it. At times, it made my skin look kind of "dirty" and uneven. However, in the summer, when I have a bit of a tan, I found that this bronzer worked way better and looked more natural. I generally do not like the consistency of the powder, and find it very drying. Overall, I don't think I will re-purchase this as an everyday bronzer. However, A GREAT trick that I learned was that i started using this as an eye-shadow. It is simply an amazing neutral brown shade for everyday wear. I don't know why I hadn't' thought of it before! I still had half the compact left so I'm glad I found a better use for my money.

Liquid -Giorgio Armani - Luminous Silk Foundation
rated 4 of 5
dutchesskt 6/3/2012 8:39:00 PM

I usually use the Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation in the summer, as I find it is lighter and gives a more luminous glow than my regular foundation (MUFE HD Foundation). I usually buy a shade darker in this than my normal color, because I really find that you can get away with it. Overall, I think this is a great foundation. It is very moisturizing, your skin looks very dewy and in my opinion, it does have great coverage. I also find that it makes my skin look AMAZING in photos, as if I had no make up at all. Unfortunately, it is quite expensive, but I only purchase about one bottle a year.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
rated 4 of 5
dutchesskt 6/3/2012 8:36:00 PM

I LOVE this foundation. I have it been using it for the past 3-4 years in shade 117, and I keep going back to it no matter what. When I first bought it, I used it in conjunction with the primer and the HD powder, but now I just use it with other primers or on its own. I love the coverage and it literally covers all scars, uneven skin tone, and it is obviously great for photos. I usually use a foundation brush from sephora, but recently, I purchased the foundation sponge from MUFE and I found that it gave my skin a more natural finish. I think this foundation CAN be a bit heavy in the summer, but overall, I find it hydrating and despite its price, it is so worth it.

Skincare - Face -Philosophy - Help Me
rated 4 of 5
dutchesskt 6/3/2012 8:31:00 PM

I have been using philosophy help me on and off for about a year now. I first got it at sephora along with the purity cleanser and the hope in a jar moisturizer. When I first started using it, it gave me AMAZING results. I used it after cleansing my skin and before moisturizer. The retinol in this product helped with my existing acne scars, it prevented break-outs and definitely smoothed out my skin's texture. My skin truly looked amazing, clear and very even-toned. It also helps in shrinking your pores. I think this is a gentler retinol product than for example dr. brandt's overnight resurfacing serum. However, after about six months, I felt like this product stopped working. Perhaps my skin got used to it, I'm not really sure what happened.

Treatments -Kiehls - Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate
rated 2 of 5
dutchesskt 6/3/2012 8:26:00 PM

I was so excited when Kiehl's finally came to Canada and I purchased this in hopes that it would resurface my skin's texture. Unfortunately, this product was way too harsh on my skin because it is such a high concentration of vitamin c. I think this would be more beneficial with people that have more mature skin. I started breaking out pretty bad after a couple of days, probably because this product dried my skin out so bad that the over-production of oil clogged my pores. I stopped using it and returned it.

Lipstick -Guerlain - Kiss Kiss - Beige Nude 550
rated 5 of 5
dutchesskt 6/3/2012 8:21:00 PM

I really hope that these lipsticks do NOT get discontinued. I have been getting them at the Guerlain store, as they do not have them at other retail outlets that I have looked at (for example Shoppers Drug Mart) in Toronto. These are THE MOST hydrating lipsticks ever. I would say they have a balm-like consistency and I find myself applying it over and over again just because it feels so good on my lips. The rose nude and Beige Nude are the perfect neutral colors for daytime. At over $40 these are not cheap, but I love them way too much.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
rated 5 of 5
dutchesskt 6/3/2012 8:14:00 PM

I have been using this blush for about 3 years, and I don't think I will change it anytime soon. I did try Turkish delight, but I found myself going back to this blush because it is just the perfect color. It has the right amount of shimmer and a great pick me up for any time of day.
