Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner
dtm428 8/13/2010 1:17:00 AM
Unbelievable. I thought I found my HG product in the 24/7 liners by Urban Decay. On the suggestion of a YouTube makeup guru, I decided to give these pencils a try. OK, first test - swatched the UD liner and the L'Oreal liner on my hand. Pigmentation was comparable. Tried to wipe them off with a tissue. The UD one came off immediately. The L'Oreal one did not even smudge. I had to use make-up remover to get it off my hand. Tried it the past couple of days and again, it held true to the color and did not budge on my lid. Wow. I had been resigned to paying $17 for the UD liners, but now I've found a GREAT product for about $9. Still love my UD liners and will finish off what I have, but I'll be restocking with L'Oreal Liquid Pencils instead.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous in Carbon Black
dtm428 7/22/2010 12:40:00 AM
Horrible, horrible, horrible. Today is the first time I've used this product, and it will also be the last. Never has a mascara, a waterproof one to boot, given me such raccoon eyes throughout the day. I only put mascara on my upper lashes. Can you imagine if I had put it on my lower lashes too? Geez! This stuff is terrible. I love the regular L'Oreal Voluminous mascara. I never thought this would be that different. Never again.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Ombre D'Eau Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow - #40 - Source
dtm428 7/2/2010 5:07:00 PM
I have to admit, I purchased this for the novelty of it. I normally do not buy Chanel products. I tested this in the store and thought it was very unique. As soon as I started using it regularly at home, I fell in love with it. It's weird, to say the least. Eye shadow is not normally in liquid form (at least I've never used liquid eye shadows). Shake it up, apply it, spread it with your finger, and within (literally) seconds, you have a gorgeous application of color on your lids that lasts ALL DAY. (Note - I do use Too Faced Shadow Insurance as a primer first.). I love it. Simply love it.

Treatments -Sally Hansen - 14 day Nail Shield
dtm428 5/23/2010 12:24:00 PM
I have nails that keep splitting at the tip. No matter what I put on them, they just chip and split. I'm trying these stick on shields and hoping that they'll provide that extra coverage to allow my nail to grow out a little more. So far so good. Easy to stick on and they last a little over week for me. Not that they came off, but as my nail grew, obviously, the base wasn't covered anymore. I guess I could just fill in with a clear coat. Once on, it looks like a really nice, glossy top coat. The shine doesn't fade, and it really stayed on until I took it off with regular polish remover. My main complaint about this product is that it comes with sizes that I will never use. So, it's a waste. I don't know who has nails that wide, but almost half of the product, I cannot use unless I trim them down. This stuff costs around $9, I want to be able to use all of it.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-On Eyepencil in Oil Slick
dtm428 4/13/2010 1:05:00 PM
I LOVE this product! Almost my whole life I've been stuck with using black eye liner. Not that anyone forced me. I just kind of fell into it and it was my comfort, what I was used to, zone. Oil Slick is a dark gray with glitter. Really nice, smooth application. With the gray, you get a nice soft line that is still very flattering and the light sparkle of the glitter makes your eyes pop. Really good product that stays and doesn't smear on me. I love it. Don't know if I'll ever go back to the black liner.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Herb eyeshadow
dtm428 3/17/2010 4:05:00 PM
Never thought I would ever use green eyeshadow, but this is such a lovely shade, I couldn't resist. With a light hand, and pairing it with NYX Hawaiian Coffee, I have a favorite green/brown smokey look that I can use both day and night. Great texture and very pigmented. This is one of the few NYX shadows that I have that hasn't cracked and needed repair, so extra points for that. My go-to product for that pop of color.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Chox Away soap
dtm428 3/17/2010 4:01:00 PM
I'm shocked, but I actually found a Lush soap I didn't like. I saw chocolate in the description and ordered it. I should have read further, because this is actually chocolate mint scented. I don't like chocolate mint. Bummer. But if that is something you like, then you will love the scent of this soap. It's pure chocolate mint. The soap is not pretty. It's basically a chunk of brown soap that does not lather... at all. I've tried. It rinses off very quickly too, so I keep thinking it didn't really get me clean. Well, Lush soaps tend to disappear fairly quickly, so I'm just going to finish off this bar and go back to my favorites. I still have my stock of my beloved Rock Star and Snow Cake. Yay!

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer
dtm428 3/9/2010 1:31:00 PM
Going by how my skin feels after using this for about three weeks, I love it. My skin is noticeably softer. I mean really soft. Much softer than when I used the Merlot Grape Seed Moisturizer, or even the Laura Mercier moisturizer cream. Everything else with the product... I'm not sure how I feel about it. The pump bottle is bulky. Much harder to store in my little make-up kit. The cream itself smells like herbs/flowers - totally not my thing. I was a bit surprised with how strong the scent it. Good thing is, it fade fairly quickly, so you're not smelling it all day. The cream itself is light, so it soaks into my skin well. But it's also thick /heavy enough to get me through these winter months when my cheeks tend to get dry. As for the clear complexion part of it - I'm still breaking out. No more and no less than when I wasn't using this product. So, for overall skin moisturizer, this stuff is great. My skin feels fabulous (if I do say so myself). For the 'clear complexion' part, I still have to use a separate acne cream.

Styling Products -TRESemme - 24 Hour Body Sculpting Spray Gel
dtm428 2/21/2010 3:17:00 AM
For some reason, I have a really difficult time using this trigger spray bottle. I have no problem when it comes to the Heat Tamer spray, which has a similar mechanism. Day one, the gel would not spray out properly. I've had too many cases where I aim the bottle at one section of hair, and the bottle is clogged and spurts out product elsewhere. Even with daily cleaning of the nozzle, it just doesn't deliver where I need it. It doesn't spray - it shoots a thick stream of product. Overall, aside from the bad nozzle, the product really doesn't do anything for me. It doesn't hold. I'm a big fan of TRESemme products usually, but this is one I will not be repurchasing.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Brilliantine
dtm428 2/21/2010 3:09:00 AM
This is the one and only Bumble and Bumble product I buy - and I've been using this for years. A little goes a long way for me. I run it through my curls/flip after styling and my hair looks so shiny and healthy. The style stays and feels soft to the touch, not crunchy like with normal hairspray. Has a light scent that does not over power. It's expensive for a small tube, but it's worth it.

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Creamy Candy Bubble Bar
dtm428 2/21/2010 2:58:00 AM
Thirty minutes in a candy cloud heaven. This has a wonderful sweet creamy candy scent and makes tons of bubbles. This must have some kind of moisturizer in it because my skin is silky soft during and afterward. A definite favorite. My only complaint is that this doesn't seem to have a very good shelf life. I purchased this in late December, and it's only mid February. The bar looked dried out and just not that pretty anymore. I thought these things were supposed to last a year or so? I wouldn't have bought this bar if I was picking it out at the store and it looked like this.

Tools -Urban Decay - Grind House (sharpener)
dtm428 2/16/2010 8:12:00 PM
What can I say? I bought the Urban Decay liners and then heard that they were difficult to sharpen unless you used this special sharpener. Visually, I don't notice any difference from another similar sharpener I have, but I didn't want to take a chance of losing product from a poorly sharpened pencil. Nothing worse than the liner breaking off inside the sharpener. It's not a matter of getting it out - it's wasted product. For $9, it's a bit pricey for a sharpener, but my UD liner works great with it. It works.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 eyeliner in Rockstar
dtm428 2/16/2010 7:24:00 PM
This is a beautiful, beautiful dark purple color. I was really impressed. I only tried it on my hand at the store, but totally fell in love with it when I actually used it that night. Perfect to go with a pretty pink based shadow look. Not as deep as black liner, but purple enough to stand out and make your eyes pop. Wonderfully smooth application, sets within a minute or two.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Sin
dtm428 2/16/2010 5:56:00 PM
Well, I finally gave in and decided to give this a try. I am already a Too Faced Shadow Insurance fan, and have no intention of giving that up. I heard that Sin leaves a nice finish to the eye lid where you can even wear it alone without eyeshadow over it. Anything that makes my morning routine faster is a plus for me. First off, I don't like the applicator or the design of the bottle. It feels cheap. I remembered all those reviews about how difficult it was to get all the product out of the tube AFTER I bought this. Isn't that always how it is? The bent applicator is a little difficult to pull out of the tube - but that's just something to get used to. The product itself, it's not as smooth as my TFSI. It feels drier and is a little more difficult to smooth out on my eyelid. As for the color, there really isn't much. If I left it alone without shadow, it would look like I didn't have anything on. Overall, after four days of use, I find that it gives me the same oil control that my TFSI does under my shadows. It doesn't crease, and that is what is most important to me in looking for a primer. As for the bells and whistles of this having color and brightening my existing shadows, I see no difference. For the same price ($17), I'll just stick to my Too Faced Shadow Insurance. At least I know I can squeeze out all of the product and won't have to cut open the tube in the end.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Stella
dtm428 2/16/2010 5:10:00 PM
My very first NARS product! I love Stella! Just the right shade for me. It's kind of a more intense version of my own lip color - a fairly berry red. Wonderful texture that is not sticky at all (a big plus), great pigmentation, and a light shine. The only thing I don't like is the price. $24 is pricey for a lip gloss. I do love it though. Darn. This is my first and only one, so we'll see how long I can make it last. I haven't had to reapply very much, so one application does last. We'll see...
