Lips -Revlon - ColorBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

I love the Revlon lip butters as a whole, but this particular color, while flattering and fairly neutral, has too much shimmer for me. The color goes on smoothly and stays for a few hours. It would be the perfect color without the shimmer, which, personally, is too over-the-top for me.

Highlighters -Physicians Formula - Shimmer Strips in Vegas Strip
rated 4 of 5

I bought this on the recommendation of YouTuber pinksofoxy, who said it was a close dupe of the Dior Amber Diamond highlighter. It is a nice golden highlight or very lustrous bronzer. I use it as a highlighter only, because it does have such a sheen to it, and I tend to use the lighter colors because I'm quite pale even in summer. The effect is very pretty and not over the top by any means. It's not an every day look for me personally (a teacher) but I wouldn't say it's too obvious for most people to wear day-to-day. A little goes a long way and is a good value.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Fig Lip Shimmer

I love this lip color for a natural hint of color. I wear it over clear lip balm to make sure the application is sheer because the color is a bit dark for my skin tone. Applied lightly, it's the perfect MLBB color for me. I can't speak to its staying power because I wear it over balm and feel like that makes it fade a bit faster. Love Burt's Bees, love the minty scent, great color and a great price.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rated 4 of 5

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I love the warm, golden colors and there are so many options for creating daytime and evening looks. Good quality and a good deal. I use this palette daily. One negative is that the velvety packaging gets dirty easily and doesn't look beautiful for too long.

Treatments (Eye) -Origins - Starting Over Age erasing eye cream with Mimosa
rated 4 of 5
dtd311 9/9/2012 3:31:00 PM

I bought this eye cream as more of a preventative treatment rather than to reverse aging. I use it each morning before applying my moisturizer. I do have some fine lines and creases under my eyes and this cream helps to plump those up and make them less noticeable. I can tell that my eye area is firmer and I look a bit more awake when I use it. I can't compare it to other eye creams, not having used any, but I think the results on fine wrinkles are good. A little of this product goes a long way, so the cost per use is pretty good as well.

Blush -E.L.F. - Studio Blush in Candid Coral
rated 5 of 5

This is one of my go-to blushes. At first, when I swatched the color on my hand, I was disappointed. I felt like the color was almost imperceptible, so it sat in back of my makeup stash for a while. When I did finally give it on a shot on my cheeks, I was in love with the color. I found it to have good pigmentation and give a really healthy, natural color to my cheeks. The staying power isn't awesome, but for $3, I think it's a great product.

Cleansers -DDF - Brightening Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
dtd311 9/9/2012 3:00:00 PM

I received this product in a subscription box and have been using it for nearly a month now. I couldn't be happier with the results I've seen while using this cleanser. I use it nightly with a Sephora cleansing brush. Since I was a preteen, I had scattered splotchy red patches on my cheeks, accompanied by slight bumps. In a couple weeks I noticed less redness and fewer bumps on my cheeks. Now, they're nearly imperceptible. I have also noticed a bit of fading on dark spots on my chin and less redness around my nose. I am still only halfway through my sample but will probably purchase a full size when it's gone. One thing I disliked about the product at first is its black licorice smell. It wasn't overwhelming or anything, I'm just not a big fan. After using it awhile, I no longer notice it.

Misc Beauty Tools -beautyblender - the sponge
rated 5 of 5
dtd311 9/9/2012 2:54:00 PM

I love my beautyblender and will never use a foundation brush for applying foundation again. It covers evenly and builds coverage well. It's easy to use and clean. It lasts a few months when cleaned and maintained well. I don't love how it applies cream blush, but I think it's simply because of the consistency of the blush I tried. Overall great product and will repurchase again and again.

BB Cream -Boscia - BB Cream SPF 27 PA++
rated 4 of 5
dtd311 9/9/2012 2:50:00 PM

I bought this product after receiving a sample in a subscription box. I love the coverage and feel of this BB cream, but it's a bit too dark/yellow for my skin tone. I have to mix it with my regular moisturizer to help it blend in, which leaves my skin a bit too moisturized and dewy for my taste. I never experienced any irritation and think it's a great alternative to foundation with a ton more benefits than a traditional tinted moisturizer.

Palettes -Stila - In The Light Palette
rated 5 of 5
dtd311 9/9/2012 2:47:00 PM

I originally bought this palette as an alternative to the Naked 1 palette. The colors in this palette are neutral and versatile. The colors are really pigmented and last, without much fallout during application. The packaging is okay but nothing super special. One thing I don't like is that the name of the color is not printed on the palette, but underneath. If you use the tutorial booklet, you have to flip the palette over to identify the color they suggest you use. The eyeliner is a huge bonus-- the Stila smudgesticks are the best liners and it adds a lot of value to the palette. Great deal and very useable.

Loose Powders -Stila - Hydrating Finishing Powder
rated 3 of 5
dtd311 9/9/2012 2:40:00 PM

I bought this powder when looking for a replacement from my MUFE HD setting powder. This Stila powder is much more effective at keeping my makeup in place during the day. I'd estimate it's effective for about 6 hours. It is a medium shade, and though I'm pale, it blends right in to my skin without making me look orange. The packaging is great too. I love that I can close the sifter and not have to worry about having the entire contents empty into the top while traveling. It does leave my skin a bit dewier than I prefer, so I'm still looking for an ideal powder. Overall, good product.
