Pressed Powders -Sally Hansen - Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Luminous Matte Pressed Powder
rated 5 of 5

I LOVE this pressed powder. I bought it at the same time as the SH Natural Beauty Your Skin Foundation. Used together, I have the best finish that I have ever gotten from a liquid foundation and powder. This powder sets the foundation well, and takes any oily spots and dispatches with them quickly. If I have used a bit too much and my face looks dry, I simply mist my face with toner. This powder does exactly what a powder is supposed to do...sets the liquid makeup and gives a flawless foundation to build on top of. It comes in a great package with the sponge separated from the powder. The sponge washes out great, so refills of it are not necessary. The sponge holds quite a bit of powder so use a light hand when applying.

Liquid -Sally Hansen - Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Your Skin Foundation

I didn't think I'd ever wear liquid foundation again! I have been using Everyday Minerals for the last few years, and had sworn off liquid foundations until I found this! Liquid foundations are usually too dark for my skin...or too pink....or too peach etc. I am not even the lightest shade in this range. I wear the Ecru Beige and LOVE it. I dot it on all over and then use a flocked sponge to apply. I get great coverage without the heavy cakey feel and even with a bad cystic acne breakout did not need to use concealer over. The pressed powder is also awesome and really lays a good foundation for other makeup to layer over top (eyeshadow, blush etc.). I will definitely repurchase.

Treatments -MyChelle - Spot Treatment

I have been searching for an effective sulfur based spot treatment for a LONG time. There used to be one on the market by prescription only when I was a teenager and then it disappeared. I have tried every cream, gel, facewash etc. that my doctor could prescribe and they all suck. What a giant relief to find this. I use it twice per day with the Mychelle White Cranberry Cleanser, and the clearing serum. It is packaged in a 1/2 oz ceramic bottle with a pump. It is a little difficult to get product out when you are nearing the end of the container. One pump is usually sufficient to treat all current problem areas. I will definitely be repurchasing.

I LOVE this product. I use it in conjunction with Mychelle White Cranberry Cleanser and Mychelle Spot Treatment. I squirt 2 pumps of this onto my fingers and pat it onto problem areas (kind of like a guy using aftershave). It does not dry out the skin, just kills any nasty bacteria still left on your skin after cleansing. It comes in a white porcelain bottle with a pump. 1 oz lasts me 12 weeks and I use it 2x/day. The scent is a mix between citrus and teatree...antiseptic...but it doesn't last. I will definitely be repurchasiing as this line is the only thing that is even remotely working on my deep cystic acne. I don't tend to have oily skin...never had zits as a teenager, but after my hysterectomy my skin went awol. Thank you God for Mychelle.

Cleansers -MyChelle - White Cranberry Cleanser

dsbbhome 6/14/2010 11:35:00 AM

I have hormone reactive skin with psoriasis and deep cystic acne. I was worried that this cleanser would leave my skin feeling stripped, but it did not. Skin feels clean and slightly dewy. It has done wonders for the cystic acne along with the Mychelle Clearing Serum and Mychelle Spot Treatment. This is a thin cleanser (not a thick gel). You only need a dime sized amount so the 4 oz bottle lasts a long time. AND it also smells fabulous!!! Fresh citrusy smell that is not cloying and does not last...so if you don't like the scent it will not be with you all day. I will definitely be repurchasing. (Great price on it at iherb) BTW, this does not remove makeup effectively. I use my BWC makeup remover and then wash with this.

Bath Treatments -EO - Bubble Bath ~ Rose Geranium and Citrus
rated 5 of 5
dsbbhome 6/14/2010 11:25:00 AM

This bath foam produces a thick small bubble foam (no large bubbles) that smell heavenly. There are no harsh cleansers, and it is scented with pure essential oils. My skin did not react to it, and it leaves the bath tub clean (no ring). I will definitely be repurchasing.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - A'kin Rose and Geranium Cleanser and Toner in One
rated 5 of 5
dsbbhome 2/15/2010 9:34:00 PM

I kid you not when I say that this is the best natural Cream cleanser on the market. I have been using natural skincare exclusively for the last five years. I love Suki and Trilogy cream cleansers, but my face doesn't feel clean after washing with the other cleansers. With the A'kin my face feels really clean but not stripped (squeeky clean). The ingredients are top notch. The packaging, althought not fancy, is serviceable (plastic tube). But, the best is that you get a 225ml tube for around $20. You will only need a small amount to cleanse with (pea sized) so this cleanser will last for quite a while. It does not remove waterproof mascara, so I suggest using a makeup remover first (Beauty without Cruelty makes an inexpensive one that works!).

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Pai - Chamomile & Rosehip Sensitive Skin Cream
rated 3 of 5
dsbbhome 2/13/2010 2:55:00 AM

I'm going to attempt to write a review for all of the Pai products that I have ordered testers for. I highly recommend visiting www.lovelula.com and ordering the whole whack of moisturizers (there are 4) and their cleanser. These are 5ml jars of eash for the equivalent of $3.00 ea. and they last a LONG time. First let me say...if you have oily skin, don't even think about putting any of this line on your face...find something else. As for other skin types, here's the breakdown. Pai Organic Avocado and Jojoba Normal Skin Cream Pai Organic Geranium and Thistle Combination skin Cream Pai Organic Chamomile and Rosehip Sensitive Skin Cream Pai Organic Macadamia and Rose Dry Skin Cream I have dry, sensitive skin, with horrible cystic acne on my chin and neck. I was leaning towards the latter two products, but in the end ordred all 4 testers...so glad I did. I ended up loving the Geranium and Thistle Combination Skin Cream (which should have left me feeling hideously dry). So whatever your skin type is right now (ex. you usually buy moisturizers for dry to extra dry skin) buy the cream for normal skin and so on. Now to the review of the Pai Organic Chamomile and Rosehip Sensitive Skin Cream Ingredients: purified water, chamomile water, apricot kernel oil, corn derived emulsifier, jojoba oil, rosehip oil, thistle oil, shea butter, vegetable glycerine, natural vitamin E, chamomile extract, rosehip seed extract, corn extract, manuka oil, rosemary antioxidant, Lavender oil, neroli oil, rose geranium oil, basil extract, lactic acid. Pai products are all EXTREMELY fresh. Stockists keep small quantities on site as these products are meant to be used within 8 months of manufacturing...if you have them for longer, please refrigerate them. There are no strong preservatives in these products...which is great for skin if used before the product starts to become contaminated...after that chuck it out! Samples come in a 5ml glass jar...use a spatula if necessary. This moisturizer has thethe texture of a light moisturizing cream, scent is subtle but pleasant. You only need a tiny amount to moisturize the whole face. It has not aggravated my cystic acne and it seems to be helping to soften and breakdown scar tissue. I haven't tried it under makeup, so cannot comment. I use it as my night cream. NOTE*** this product states that it is intended for sensitive skin. It is the only one that I have had a reaction too. I attribute this to the amount of chamomile in a product...it is a member of the ragweed family and as such can give you an allergic reaction. If you really want to use it...use only at night and take an antihistamine (ex. Benadryl) before bed. Full sizes come in 30ml glass pumps and are only available in the UK (from what I can ascertain) and are approximately $45. Google Pai skincare to find stockists.

Treatments -Reviva - Hyaluronic Acid Serum
rated 5 of 5
dsbbhome 1/27/2010 5:17:00 PM

I've been wanting to try a Hyaluronic Acid based serum for sometime, but have been a little wary. A friend of mine recommended this line (both into natural products) and so I decided to add it to my luckyvitamin.com order. I have sensitive skin that has dry patches and cystic acne along my chin line. I've found that it's best used over a moisturizer (sorry serum people, sometimes they just work better on top of the moisturizer!). I've been using it over Suki's Nourishing Face oil and have found the combination awesome...moisturizing but allowing skin to breathe...no heavy night cream needed anymore! The ingredient list is short: Demineralized spring water, glycerine (veg.), Hyaluronic Acid, polysorbate 20, hydrolyzed mucopolysaccharides, green tea extract, hydroxyethylcellulose, caramelized sugar, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, and citris acid It come in a 1oz glass pump bottle. One pump is all you need.

Primer/ Corrector -Reviva - Makeup Primer
rated 5 of 5
dsbbhome 1/27/2010 5:06:00 PM

I have understood the benefit of makeup primers for some reason I have reacted badly to each one I've tried (Smashbox, Skin Fx, Quo, Biotherm). They all seem to include some sort of silicone...which is supposed to be a non-irritant. Also, I've never been able to see an immediate result (perhaps because I have dry skin). Anyway, I was having a peek through all the brands at luckyvitam.com and came across this. The ingredient list is short: Cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol), Olive Oil, Coenzyme Q10, Squalane Yep..I know there's silicone in this too, but for some reason this does not irritate. It's fragrance free, comes in a class pump bottle (1 oz is under $20), and leaves skin feeling smooth. I use Everyday Minerals foundation on top...and it wears great for about 8 hours.

Foundations -LORAC - Natural Performance Foundation
rated 1 of 5
dsbbhome 11/25/2009 2:33:00 PM

On a recent trip to the US, I decided to check out the Ulta store located near where I was staying. I spent nearly 3 hours in there playing with all the different brands. I ended up leaving with a bottle of this (It was a choice between this and the Stila) in the lightest shade based on matching my jawline. I usually check here first to see what the reviews say, and boy am I ever sorry that I didn't! Lorac Natural Performance Foundation, how I LOATHE thee; let me count the ways: 1) I'm tech challenged and because I had no idea how to open the bottle, I ended up pulling the whole top off. I thought I had broken it, but I managed to figure out how to put it back on. Once you learn the knack of opening and closing the bottle without squirting any product out, it's actually a fairly inovative design. 2) I have DRY sensitive skin that is prone to horrible cystic acne breakouts....this made me look like a ghost. It clung to every piece of skin that was not perfect underneath, meaning that each blemish and dry spot stood out more not less! It also settles into fine lines immediately...I actually didn't know I had so many! This would probably be alleviated by using a primer, but since I'm sensitive to silicones, I haven't found a makeup primer that I can use yet. Overall I looked like a fine lined, crepey thin skinned, monster! 3) This product dries very quickly, so forget trying to use a foundation brush, and if you're not used to working very quickly with your fingers, it's next to impossible to get the makeup spread and even before it dries. 4) this colour is not "buildable". Using more makes you look worse not better, and subsequent applications make the base application ball up...finished it looks like nail polish that has had too many wet coats. 5) The price for such a poor formula. I'm sure I could come up with more. I didn't return it as we don't have Ulta stores here in Canada, and it wasn't worth the shipping cost that I would incur. Stay away from this nasty piece of work! (Not me the foundation! LOL)
