I bought this eyeshadow palette on a whim. I am usually not much into dark shadow colors, but this palette really intrigued me. The colors are so rich and deep and basically, all the shadows you need for a smokey eye are right there! So convenient. For a night out, I usually apply a lighter shadow color all over my lids, and then I will apply one of the shadows from the Black Palette on the outer V and my crease area, and blend. I get lovely smokey eyes that took literally seconds to achieve. The shadows are all greatly pigmented, and are easy to blend. I love this palette! If you are a smokey eye lover, then this palette may be one worth looking into.
Moisturizers -Garnier - Moisture Rescue Lightweight UV Lotion SPF 15
drfinestgrl 6/10/2011 8:54:00 AM
This is probably my HG moisturizer! I have tried so many of them and none of them feel comfortable and lightweight on my skin like this one by Garnier does. I have really dry, sensitive, and acne-prone skin and this moisturizer has been treating my skin really good. I have been using this moisturizer for about 2 months. I have not had any allergic reactions to it, and I feel like my skin is more moisturized and doesn't get dry much anymore. My foundation-both liquid and mineral, glides right over this moisturizer and my face looks superb! The Garnier Moisture Rescue lotion does have a light scent to it, but it is not bothersome at all, and it dissipates after a few minutes. I love the pump packaging, and the price of $8.00 makes it a pretty reasonable buy. I like that it contains an SPF of 15, but my only qualm with this moisturizer is that I wish it had a higher SPF content. Overall, lovely moisturizer and I will repurchase! :)
Eyeliner -Too Faced - Starry-Eyed glitter liquid eyeliner in Gold Digger
drfinestgrl 12/22/2010 12:53:00 AM
The Too Faced Starry Eyed Glitter Liquid Eyeliner is really neat. It comes in handy for those nights when you want to go all out with the eyes and really make those peepers pop with nice sparkles. Gold Digger is a gorgeous gold eyeliner that has great color pay off and I am so happy that it is one of those liners that does not sting or burn my eyes. Some liquid eyeliners have that effect on me and this one from Too Faced does not. I like using this glitter eyeliner when I am doing a smoky eye. I apply it to the inner third of the lower lash line to give a nice unexpected pop of glitter and it looks lovely! This glitter liner is a bit pricey so I am glad I got it on sale at Sephora last year for $8! Overall, this liner is a lovely addition to my makeup collection and I definitely want to try the other colors in the line.
Love this nail color! Ever since I have purchased it last month, I have worn it on my nails as a mani color like 3 times already! This color is the perfect gunmetal grey/black, silver shimmered polish for these coming winter months. I love how easy it is so work with this formula. It goes on streak-free, air bubble free, and the shimmers are very smooth and fine so you won't feel any grittyness on the nails. I recommend this shade to everyone! And at only $2.00? What have you got to lose?
Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Blush 831E Pearlescent Pink
drfinestgrl 11/20/2010 1:41:00 AM
Pearlescent Pink is a very pretty medium pink with fine golden shimmers in it. It applies very smoothly, pigmented and leaves my cheeks with a healthy hint of pink to them. I think this blush is a great everyday color that I am sure will work on all skin tones.
Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - ColorIcon Palette in #249 Vanity [DISCONTINUED]
drfinestgrl 11/20/2010 1:38:00 AM
Vanity is a great eyeshadow palette that is perfect for neutral eye lovers. I personally use this eyeshadow palette everyday when I get read for school in the morning. I don't need nothing else. You get 3 matte shades, and 3 shimmered shades. I think this palette is very versatile as well. You have your highlight color, your more muted down shades for a soft, everyday look, and you also have a dark matte brown that is great for filling in brows, or smokey-ing up the eye a little more when you want some more drama. The shades are very pigmented and they blend really easily too. I love this!
I just purchased this eye brow kit yesterday in Ash Brown. I did it on a whim and I am so happy I picked this up! Usually when it comes to filling in my brows, I use the darkest matte brown eyeshadow from the Wet n' Wild Vanity color icon eyeshadow palette (love that palette by the way). But I started noticing it was starting to make my brows look a a bit red undertoned. This brow kit from Wet n' Wild is just what I needed to achieve the perfect filled in brow. It contains 2 brow powder shades. A lighter ash brown, and a darker brown. Both shades are matte and then you also get the clear brow gel which you apply to set the brows in place. I love that this kit contains a little mirror which is very useful when you are on the go, a mini angled brow brush, and mini tweezers which I don't really find useful at all. But the brow brush really surprised me. I really like it! It does the job although it is a tad bit flimsy. I apply the lightest brow shade first to pre-fill in the bald spots I have and then I go over the brow with the darker brown shade to fill it in some more and perfect it. Lastly, I brush my brows with the brow gel which helps set everything. The brow gel feels really nice and it is not tacky or feels heavy on my brows. I love how Ash Brown matches my dark black/brown hair color perfectly :) I love this kit, and I am so happy I purchased it! I recommend it and I will repurchase when I run out :)
Finally a MAC foundation that does not break me out! I always tried to stay away from MAC foundations ever since I tried the Studio Fix Fluid. I broke out so bad that it traumatized me from trying any MAC foundations again. But as soon as I heard about this new one, I just felt like I had to have it. I went ahead and purchased it in the shade NC25 and what do you know? Perfect match! I have light skin with lots of yellow undertones and I am super happy that this pro longwear foundation seems to contain lots of yellow undertones to it. Seeing as most MAC foundations can run a bit on the orange side. I love the packaging-the pump bottle is genius and it lets you dispoense the perfect amount of product everytime. I also like the addition of the SPF 10 in it as well :) I apply this foundation with a long handled Kabuki brush and I love the way it look on me! I seriously don't need much product at all to cover my face. At the most all I need is one pump and a half. I have some acne scarring and this foundation covers them pretty decentley. I would say this foundation provides a medium-buildable coverage, with a soft matte finish. I have a combination of oily and dry skin. I make sure to apply my moisturizer before I apply this fouondation because I believe this foundation would accentuate the dryness on the skin if it is not properly moisturized. If you have dry skin, just make sure to moisturize beforehand, and you should be fine :) As for the oilies on my T-Zone, surprisingly this pro longwear foundation helps control it. Some days I don't even need to touch up! But then there are some days when the oil on my nose is uncontrollable LOL! This foundation does dry and set fast on the skin so my advice would be to work in sections, and blend it in fast. But once this baby dries, it is not budging until you remove it with your makeup remover and such. I have been using this foundation for about 1 month and a half, and I love it! It is my HG liquid foundation and I am very happy to report that I have had no breakouts or any other alergic recations when using Pro Longwear. Thank You MAC for this foundation! And please don't EVER discontinue it! I hope this review was helpful :)
Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Rosebud Salve
drfinestgrl 11/19/2010 3:23:00 PM
I finally caved in and purchased the famous Rosebud Salve lip balm and I am so happy I did! I really like the texture of the lip balm. It is very smooth, and my lips love it. It goes on clear and it gives my lips a healthy look to them. I love that! I enjoy the calming smell. Smells like roses. I have really dry and flaky lips and Rosebud Salve has rejuvenated them and made them smooth again! This lip balm is going to be my staple this winter. I just wish it contained some sort of SPF in it. That would be super awesome. But I love this lip balm nonetheless :) I will definitely repurchase again. I probably wont have to for a while because I know this product is going to last me a good while!
Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Continuous Control Acne Cleaner
drfinestgrl 8/29/2010 8:45:00 AM
My skin is very acne-prone, and sensitive. I was surprised when my dermatologist recommended this cleanser from Clean & Clear to me. He was so right! This cleanser has really calmed down my acne, and I hardly get pimples now. I use this cleanser at night, only because I find that if I use it 2 times a day it can make my skin a bit dry and sensitive, so once a day is fine with me.
Blush -New York Color - Blushable Creme Stick in 644U Plaza Pink
drfinestgrl 8/29/2010 8:42:00 AM
This was my first ever N.Y.C. Blushable Creme Stick and I am so in love with this cream blush. Plaza Pink is a beautiful pink/coral color that gives my cheeks a pretty pop of color. I love the twist up stick packaging, and I love how this blush is very pigmented but yet still manages to give me a soft pretty color. It blends really well into my cheeks and it is not sticky at all! it dries down to an almost powder-soft feel.
Makeup Brushes -MAC - 188 Small Duo Fibre Face brush
drfinestgrl 8/29/2010 8:39:00 AM
I love this 188 brush from MAC. I mostly use it to apply my blushes (cream and powder). It works great for that purpose. I love how this brush helps sheer out really bright colored blushes. It blends into the skin flawlessly, and it's a really soft brush too.
I love this eye blending brush from MAC. I love how easy this is to use and it blends shadows very nicely. I love using this blending brush especially when I am doing a much stronger, and dark eye look. it blends out the harsh, and dark shadows really well. I am very happy with this brush and I am really happy that I added it to my makeup brush collection.
Eye Shadow -Coastal Scents - 88 color matte palette
drfinestgrl 8/29/2010 8:35:00 AM
I love this palette from Coastal Scents. I mean, what more can you ask for when it comes to eye shadows? You have 88 different shades of shadows all for a very reasonable price-Love! I like how pigmented they are and there possibilities are endless when it comes to these shadows. I definitely recommend this eyeshadow palette for everybody, especially those who are just starting out with makeup.
Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Large crease brush- white handle
drfinestgrl 7/6/2010 8:47:00 AM
This is a great brush for blending shadows. I use this brush to blend my crease colors and to add some highlight to my brow bone. This brush is super soft and very durable and long lasting. I have had this brush for about 1 year or so, and it still feels soft and not scratchy at all and every time I wash it, I experience no shedding. I recommend this brush, it is a great one to have!
