Treatments -Tarte - Pure Maracuja Oil
domokunnies 4/5/2013 11:16:00 PM
I have been using this oil for about 2 months now. I am a devoted jojoba oil user but wanted to see if this was something grand I was missing out on. The short answer is no, this isn't worth they hype. This oil is pretty pricey at close to $50. I would like to return it, but I feel that it's a bit unfair and wasteful to return it.. even though I'm sure Sephora wouldn't have any trouble taking it back. *Shrug*. I'll just keep it and use it up. Pros: Light weight oil, didn't break me out, cute packaging. Traveled with me and bottle didn't leak. Cons: Not worth the price. Jojoba oil is much more hydrating.. and a much, much, much more inexpensive alternative.

BB Cream -Skin79 - Super+ BB Cream Gold Label
domokunnies 4/5/2013 6:53:00 PM
I have oily, extremely acne prone skin and this covers my skin like a dream. It gives great coverage and amazingly, it looks NATURAL. It's hard to see that I have on any makeup at all. It blends in pretty well with my NC30 skin. It is light coming out of the bottle but eventually settles. I dust it off with a light dusting of Shiseido powder to help futher tone done the whiteness. I find this makeup lasts through a 9 hour workday just fine. I live in hot and humid Houston. It's made my morning routine a lot quicker since I no longer have to use concealor. I find it covers my undereye circles just fine. Best of all, this does NOT break me out at all. In fact, it's improved my skin clarity and texture. How does that work? I have no freaking idea. I would've thought NOT using makeup would improve my skin. But using this has been awesome. I am no longer self concious of how my skin looks. For anyone with acne, you know how debilitating acne can be. I finally feel confident within my own skin. My only regret is that I wish I tried this sooner!! I learned about this bb cream about 4 years ago but didn't try it until last month. I'm so glad I finally gave in...this is an absolute miracle product and life changer. Even if it was triple the cost, I would still buy it.

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation
domokunnies 8/10/2012 7:30:00 PM
I'm EXTREMELY IMPRESSED by this foundation. This might be my HG. I have very sensitive skin but this has not broke me out at all. The coverage is pretty good. I mix mine with Shiseido face sunscreen to thin it out but it still covers pretty well. I am NC30 and "soft beige" is the perfect match for me. The finish is great. It looks natural and really does last all day. I live in Texas and it's summertime and my skin looks great even through sweating. The minuses for me is that I wish the packaging was pump, instead of squeeze. OH well *shrug*, still more hygienic and convenient than in a jar. The other minus for me is the very obvious fragrance, but the smell goes away when I mix it with my face sunscreen. All in all, a great buy. It was for less than $6 at Walgreens with a Sunday paper coupon. SO SO glad I tried this foundation. Try it, you won't be disappointed. *EDIT* 4/2/2013 I still like this foundation very much. It covers really well.. however I've found a much better foundation that I use daily--- Skin79 BB Cream Gold. I still keep one tube of Rimmel as backup.

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner - Black
domokunnies 10/19/2010 11:14:00 PM
The absolute best liner I've tried! I've tried Stila and Maybelline cream liners and this one was both the cheapest and longest lasting. After a hard day's of work, I happily come home and see no raccoon eyes.

Liquid -100 Percent Pure - HEALTHY SKIN FOUNDATION WITH SUPER FRUITS SPF 20 (full coverage / satin finish)
domokunnies 9/30/2010 6:34:00 PM
The color shade (I'm NC25) Peach Bisque was a perfect match for me. It left a wonderful matte finish and covered up my acne scars. And best of all---awesome ingredients! I was so happy thinking I have found the perfect foundation but after a week of use, it broke me out giving me little bumps all over my face . Give it a week and see whether it the product agrees with your skin. In all honesty, I envy those who are able to wear this foundation...back to Revlon Colorstay I go.

Pressed Powders -Hard Candy - Welcome Matte Mattifying Powder
domokunnies 8/7/2010 7:12:00 PM
I'm very very oily and in addition to that, I also have enlarged pores. I use a MAC 187 brush to apply this powder as a setting powder over my foundation and it leaves such a nice finish! It keeps me matte and I live in humid Houston, TX and it's currently the middle of summer. This powder doesn't break me out and the price is cheap ~$8 at Walmart. I had to go to several Walmarts in order to find this, as it seems to be out of stock often. While this powder doesn't cake on, I do have to be careful the amount I apply because it can lead to dry skin spots. Other matte powders I've tried: Maybelline dream matte powder, Coastal Scents loose silica powder, MAC blot powder, and Everyday Minerals kaolin powder. This is the best.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Pro Skincare Brush
domokunnies 11/3/2009 5:50:00 PM
I've been a fan of using AHA for my skin but wanted to ween myself off chemical exfoliators and decided to invest in a Clarisonic brush. For the first month I enjoyed using the brush but it's now been 6 months of daily use and I cannot say that it's worth the price (along with having to buy new $25 brush heads multiple times a year). Using a $5 buff puff sponge gives same results at a much lower cost. As for the unit itself, it's nicely built and easy to use. I'm glad it works for some people, but for me.. it's just not worth it. Update Feb 2010 Been using a buff puff sponge (in "gentle"), it's exfoliated my skin a lot better than with the clarisonic. I had returned the Clarisonic to Nordstrom, who has a very generous return policy, and I don't miss it one bit!

Primer/ Corrector -Unlisted Brand - Monistat - Chafing Relief Powder-Gel
domokunnies 9/5/2009 1:29:00 PM
What I love about it: it doesn't clog my pores (I have skin that easily breaks out), it helps keep my skin matte during the day, it looks great under foundation and it's cheap! I've used the more expensive primer, DHC Velvet Skin coat, in the past and have found that one too thick whereas the Monistat has a better consistency in blending in with the skin and does not feel like a mask. I've been using this daily for almost 4 months now and I've only used up about 1/6th of the tube. Which means one whole tube should last 24 months or 2 years for me.

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Multi-Colored Corrector- GREEN
domokunnies 9/2/2009 2:26:00 AM
I picked this up at Walgreens when they were having a 40% off sale. My skin had been red for the past few days so I decided to give it a whirl. This powder does cancel out some redness however it also gives a green sickly color this is very unnattractive. Using a Mac 187 I was careful of how much powder I applied but still, it looked unnatural. The powder just sits on my face. It isn't anything special.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Plus White - 5 Minute Speed Whitening Gel
domokunnies 5/4/2009 9:33:00 PM
This is one of the cheapest whitening kits money can buy but most importantly it actually works! Directions say give it 2 weeks, and it's been just about 2 weeks and I've noticed a dramatic change in color. I've been using it twice a day for 30 or so minutes. For the record, I've never thought twice about the color of my teeth until I went to my dentist for a crown. He recommended that I bleach my teeth and I picked up this kit from Walgreens, which was having a 50% off sale, pricing this kit at around 5 dollars. The kit includes: mouth piece, gel, and tarter free mouthwash. The mouthwash itself isn't too bad, it's actually quite refreshing to use prior to whitening. What works is to apply the gel with a qtip then use the mouth piece to keep the gel pressed upon your teeth; the physical contact is essential in getting this product to work. My dentist tells me this kit is safe to use, even though I have weak enamel. I used an anti-sensitivity toothpaste a week prior to using this kit and so far have noticed no teeth sensitivity.

Fragrances -Lacoste - Essential pour homme
domokunnies 5/4/2009 1:26:00 PM
Very yummy. I picked this scent out for my then bf, now DH. Being as anal as I am, I sniffed each and every bottle they had lined up at Sephora. This wasn't too overpowering nor musky, just right. What I love about this scent is that it changes throughout the day, accordingly to his activity. From what I read on the website, the scent is affected with your guy's body heat and natural perspiration making it a very intimate scent. All in all, each time he wears it, I can't help but pounce on him.

Treatments (Eye) -Booths - Black Licorice Eye Cream
domokunnies 5/3/2009 2:00:00 PM
This cream is reasonably priced at ~12 and it's worth the purchase. I'm in school and on nights where I'm up late, I slather this under my eyes and actually wake up looking rested! This is a big deal to me because I'm in a med program that has exams every other week. It's helped lightened my dark under eye circles (I'm no longer self conscious about them) and soften some lines I was getting around my eyes. It's non greasy, absorbs well and I have no trouble applying eye makeup over it. It comes in a small cute screw top bottle and the black licorice smell is quite yummy. Another amazing bonus: it made my lashes longer! (I've tried DHC eyelash tonic before, which did nothing, but this made such a difference in my lashes). LOVE THIS EYE CREAM.

Sunscreen -Philosophy - shelter broadspectrum spf 30
domokunnies 5/1/2009 10:58:00 PM
I had high expectations for this sunscreen unfortunately it wasn't what I was looking for. It left my face greasy and the formula is somewhat thick and felt very heavy on my face. The sunscreen smell is also very apparent. The scent may not bother other people however for me, I like my facial products to be either non-scented or lightly scented. To not put it to waste, I will be using it on my body instead though that wasn't my original intention. For those looking for a non greasy yet high SPF sunscreen, I highly recommend Shiseido SPF 55 sunscreen in the teal bottle. It's a little more pricey, but easier to apply, higher SPF, non greasy, doesn't smell as much and works well under makeup!

Treatments -E.L.F. - Shine Eraser Blotting Sheets
domokunnies 5/1/2009 10:06:00 PM
For $1, you get 50 sheets. Perhaps depending on your level or oiliness you may need more than one sheet at a time, but I found one sheet sufficient to pick up the shine on my face. I love using these as they do their job and do not mess up my make up. The packaging is sleek, simple and cute and serves its purpose. Next time ELF has a huge sale, I will definitely stock up on more!

Bronzers -E.L.F. - Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder -- Sunkissed
domokunnies 5/1/2009 10:00:00 PM
One of my favorite bronzers to use. I apply this with my MAC 187 brush using a light hand, it adds the right amount of color to my face and cheeks. It's also very long lasting. This is a highly pigmented and shimmery color that's become my daily staple. And as far as the price goes, you really can't beat it!!
