Shampoo -L'Oreal - L`Oreal Paris EverCurl Hydracharge Shampoo

This is such a great shampoo! It is so moisturizing, that I can detangle my hair before conditioning it. It smells amazing, like a mix of flowers and candy and vanilla. I find that it doesn't leave my scalp super clean but my scalp is really naturally prone to dandruff. My curls are really really bouncy and defined after using this shampoo. Love it. They better not discontinue this!!!!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Cosmar Quik Nails Brush-On Gel Nail Kit
rated 4 of 5
dominicanaheat 12/30/2009 3:37:00 PM

I've worn acrylics for years but the last couple of years, I scaled back to save cash. Unfortunately, my natural nails just don't seam to want to grow. I've tried all types of treatments, but once they show a glimmer of home, they crack down to the meat and I have to cut all my nails off and start from scratch. It's a vicious cycle. I always loved having neat, long nails, so I tried some of the artificial nails and they look great, but always pop off after a couple of days. Today I purchased Cosmar Quik Nails Brush-On Gel Nail Kit from CVS for $9.99 and I must say this is 100% BETTER than the Nutranail gel kit (I have reviewed it in the past). Here we go: Pros: the gel went on smoothly and without a hitch. It dried super fast and it feels smooth, looks glossy and also feels strong. I was done in about half an hour, from tip application to last coat (I put on 3 coats of gel/activator). The tips do not come loose. They are attached to a "wheel", making sizing and applications a sinch! They also come in a long length, so you can cut them down or leave them long. Con: the tip SHAPE isn't great. The free edge is a great square shape, but, the bottom edge of the tip, that is glued onto the natural nail, is shaped like a heart, instead of being shaped like a crescent, like most nail tips are. So, even though I filed that part down to blend in with my natural nail, I just couldn't file them down enough without thinning out my natural nail too much, therefore causing pain. After applying the gel, the heart edges can be seen plain as day through the gel. The tips turned an opaque white (a plus for me, since I love frenches), but, I don't know how well a sheer french polish will cover the obvious tips. I will polish when I get home (I'm at work, tons of free time on my hands as the year winds down). I will definitely be repurchasing this once I run out, but I think I am just going to get the gel refills which I have seen sold separately in Rite Aid, and purchase separate nail tips.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose
rated 4 of 5
dominicanaheat 7/29/2009 12:30:00 PM

My aunt gave this to me as a gift this spring. It really is a good mascara. It lengthens, volumizes and curls all at ones. I don't need to use a lash curler with this. Sometimes it an look clumpy if I am not careful when I apply it. Also, the brush can get overloaded with the mascara, so there's been a few occassions that I've smudged some on my eyelid. It's a pain, especially after I did my eyeshadow. Overall it's a great mascara, can definitely tell it's of excellent quality. Not sure if I'll go out of my way to actually purchase it, I've used some drugstore brands that can be just as good.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Nutra Nail Green Tea Power Gel Nail Hardening System
rated 1 of 5
dominicanaheat 6/12/2009 3:54:00 PM

I bought this on a whim. I used to have acrylic wraps for years, but last fall I decided to stop getting wraps done so that I can save money. But, even though the weak nails have grown out, my natural nails break ALL the time. I can't have long, natural nails to save my life. So I wanted to give my nails a little boost without having to be a slave to the nail salon again. I purchased this a couple of weeks ago and applied it as the instruction sheet said. The next day there were cracks all over my nails and the gel chipped. I was highly disappointed. This past weekend I tried it again, and guess what? The brush for the gel broke as I tried to take it out after the 2nd nail! I couldn't believe how cheaply made this was! Never EVER again, will I waste my money on this. Overall rating is a 1. If I could give it negative ratings, I would. Price: $10 isn't expensive, but, when the product is crap, then YES, those same $10 is a big hit to the wallet. Packaging: considering the brush broke in the bottle, yeah, horrible packaging! So once again, I will NEVER purchase this product again! It really made me want to go back to the nail salon.

Concealers -Wet 'n' Wild - Cover All Liquid Concealer - 812 Light
rated 5 of 5
dominicanaheat 3/11/2008 11:39:00 AM

If I would have known about this concealer in the past, I never would have wasted my money on more expensive concealers. I purchased this the other day on a whim and out of desperation to find a concealer that would actual CONCEAL my purple, sunken in circles. I've tried Avon, Neutrogena, Physician's Formula among many others in the past and none ever do a good job covering my circles and staying put. This one SHOCKED me. I really thought I was going to "get what I paid for" and wind up tossing it after a day or two of using, but it has done an EXCELLENT job covering my raccoon eyes. It has full coverage and can easily be layered on to achieve the perfect coverage. It is not runny, it's very creamy and glides on smoothly. And the best part is that it lasts all day. it does not budge, smudge, run or fade away. At the end of the night when I go to wash my face, the concealer is still there doing it's job. Yesterday I was taking pictures and it just looked perfect. You couldn't see any dark circles, neither did it look like I had white circles around my eyes from have to overdo the concealer to get any coverage. All for under $3! I just wish the tube was bigger, but at least I didn't spend a ton of money for a small tube like I have done in the past. I was so impressed with it that I showed my officemate. She uses BareMinerals, and although she loves the results, she feels it's too time consuming, especially when she uses it to cover her dark circles. I put the concealer on under one eye to show her and she saw the incredible difference. She's going to go out and buy herself a tube of this. This is definitely an HG and will be repurchased!

Lip Treatments -Sally Hansen - Healing Butter for Lips
rated 5 of 5
dominicanaheat 3/3/2008 4:33:00 PM

This was great stuff. I bought during the middle of winter when my lips were in serious need of moisture. It went on smooth and light, and when I rubbed my lips together, it smoothed away all the cracks and dryness. It leaves the lips with a nice, glossy, peachy sheen. The only thing I don't like is the packaging, I'm not a fan of lip balm pots, would rather it be in a tube, stick or brush on. Overall, it works very well in my dry lips rotation during the winter months and I would definitely repurchase again.

Treatments -Palmers - Skin Success Eventone Fade Cream
rated 5 of 5
dominicanaheat 2/26/2008 10:33:00 PM

I tried this in the tube, not the jar. A few years ago, I developed these odd dark patches under my breasts. I grew a little worried and then realized my underwire bras were the culprits. I purchased this product in the tube form and hoped for the best. First I'll start with the only con this product had IMO: it smelled really bad. Palmer's may have changed the scent since I used it a few years ago, but it had that old school rotten egg Nair smell. But, since I wasn't using it near my face, I was able to tolerate it. I applied it to the skin under my breasts every day, and within a couple of weeks, the dark patches were completely gone. I stopped using the cream and they never came back either. I couldn't believe how well it worked. I wound up giving the tube to my mother, who wanted to give it to a friend who had dark spots and acne scars on her face, but I don't know if she ever used it. If I ever have any issues with dark spots on my skin again, I will definitely repurchase the Skin Success Fade Cream. It works!

Styling Products -Garnier - Curl and Shine Leave-In Conditioning Cream
rated 5 of 5
dominicanaheat 3/21/2007 9:40:00 PM

This stuff is excellent! If you have thick, 3a/b hair, this is the product for you. I have been using it for about 2 weeks now and it's fantastic. I put about a palmful in my long, thick, coarse 3a/b hair after I wash and condition. After my hair is dry I have tons of super tight, bouncy, shiny, frizz free curls. It defines my curls so well that I don't even need to use a styling product on top of it! I can see how it can weigh hair down so if you are a fine haired curly you may not want to use it. But if you have hair like how I described above, this is worth the $3.99. I just wish the bottles were bigger, otherwise this is a definite HG for me!

Styling Products -Suave - Anti-Frizz Smoothing Gel with Aloe
rated 5 of 5
dominicanaheat 8/24/2006 10:59:00 PM

This is some AWESOME gel! It leaves my hair super soft, super glossy and super curly for DAYS. Other gels would leave my hair too stiff and would lose hold way too quicky, leading to frizzy messes way too soon. This stuff is excellent though, and it smells heavenly. I can even use it on second and even third day hair and it just softens up any rough or frizzy spots. Plus it's cheap too! The bottle is a fairly good size as well. This gel is just perfect.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Breathe Daily Vitamin Body Lotion - Comfort Scent
rated 4 of 5
dominicanaheat 11/20/2005 8:48:00 PM

I liked this. At first I wasn't sure about the scent, but now I definitely like it. It's a very soothing, warm scent. Vanilla with a bit of musk to it. I have a full sized bottle of the lotion at home, and a small sample sized bottle in my bag. I find it very moisturizing. It's pretty slick at first, but it sinks in and leaves my skin nice and moisturized. I'll definitely buy this again.

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Volume Boost Liquid Lipcolour
rated 5 of 5
dominicanaheat 10/7/2005 5:56:00 PM

I have this in the colors Boast and Bossy. Boast is a nice chocolately brown color with a hint of gold shimmer. Bossy is a corally pink with gold shimmer. On my fair skin the Boast looks rich and perfect for fall. I originally bought this because I have Rimmel's 'Coffee Shimmer' lipstick, and I love the color, but I hate lipsticks; they tend to dry my lips out. This is the exact same color but in a moist lip gloss form. Bossy looks pinky-peach and shiny on my lips. I really love Volume Boost, it's a lipgloss that has full coverage like a lipstick. I hate it when I put on lipgloss and they are too shear and streaky on my lips. This has the perfect consistency and coverage. It has a great tingle when applied. I don't know if it makes my lips plumper, though. My lips are naturally full so if they do plump up, it's unnoticable...my friend, who also has this in boast, says she notices a difference, but her lips are much thinner than mine. Anyway, the color is also long lasting, and when it does fade, still looks good. I love the brush applicator because I can control how much is on the brush and can evenly spread it on my lips, and even 'line' them. It's very moist and smooth on my lips, never dries them out. Love this. I hope Rimmel keeps this line around for a long time, and expands their colors. Some of them look too much alike to even notice a difference in the shades. The price is decent, about $5-7, depending on where I see it.

Gels/Soaps -Softsoap - Softsoap Naturals Milk & Honey Body Wash
rated 5 of 5
dominicanaheat 9/14/2005 6:09:00 PM

I use Suave's Milk & Honey Conditioner on my hair and always get compliments about how great I smell. I saw that Suave also had a body wash with that scent, and went on the hunt to find it. I had no luck finding this body wash, but I saw that Softsoap had this scent in their body wash line. I picked it up and it smelled EXACTLY like Suave's conditioner. I purchased it and used it this morning. Smelled so good and left my skin soft. Definitely repurchasing :)

Fragrances -Secret - Vanilla Sparkle Body Spray
rated 5 of 5
dominicanaheat 9/7/2005 8:05:00 PM

I bought this yesterday after one of my closest friends told me she had the tropical scent and bought her sister the peach scent. We 'tested' one of them out and both said "OOOOOOOOOOOOH...." it smelled so yummy and vanilla! I wore it today, as someone said before, it dried to this nice, yummy vanilla caramel scent. My close guy friend (that I'm digging on too) asked me if I had on perfume. He made me hand him the the spray and put he some on his hands so he could smell it all day LOL :) He told me he absolutely *loves* it. Anyway, the scent lasted for most of the morning and early afternoon. I resprayed in the afternoon and I can still smell it on me tonight. So far, so good! :)
