Powder -New York Color - Smooth Skin Pressed Powder
dollief 12/21/2012 9:51:00 PM
I have very pale nw10 skin and the translucent shade is perfect. I apply with a powder brush and it seems a little powdery and light at first, but within 5 mains or so it settles Down into a lovely sheer finish that is not chalky or orangey, and it does not change the color of my foundation, and controls oil for hours. Very cheap too! Will buy as long as they make it!

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Albolene cleanser
dollief 8/7/2011 7:33:00 PM
Looks like vaseline but does NOT act like vaseline! Once you scoop it out and begin to massage into your skin, it liquifies and so does all the makeup! Unscented, perfect for sensitive skin, whether oily or dry. Takes off makeup very well, and I really do think it is helping clean out my pores which had gotten clogged from the cocoa butter in Merle Norman cleansing cream. My skin is very acne prone and oily and this is helping very much to calm it down. I follow with gentle use of J&J Head to Toe.

Foundations -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin
dollief 6/11/2011 8:51:00 PM
OK, I've gotta eat what I've said the the past about Colorstay. That it was runny, had no coverage, no good color match for my PPP skin... so I've stayed away all these years. UNTIL.... I hit perimenopause and got so oily that EVERYTHING slides right off. So I gave it another shot. I still am not crazy about the smell, which DOES linger, but I can tolerate it. However, I don't know know if my skin color has changed or what, but now the Ivory is perfect! It is so hard to find a drugstore foundation for oily skin where the lightest shade isn't too pink or to orangey. And it covers pretty well! Goes on best when applied in sections, and blended with my fingers. I own different brushes and have tried them, and sponges, but the fingers seem to work best with this. And it most stays all day! But even Colorstay slides off when I am at my menopausal oiliest. Compares favorably with Almay TLC, which is also a great fdn, but Colorstay goes on easier. Almay TLC is more like actual PAINT going on, but it dries down beautifully. I will prob stay with Colorstay. EDIT 9/10/11 -- Still loving this! And I guess I'm used to the smell because I don't notice it anymore!

Conditioner -Suave - Professionals Humectant Conditioner
dollief 6/11/2011 8:44:00 PM
Won't buy again because it's just too heavy and makes my thin, fine, straight hair really greasy. But somebody with thicker/wavy hair would probably love it. Smells just like their coconut shampoo/conditioner. I am finding that Suave shampoos are really great, but the conditioners just don't work for me. Bummer.

Styling Products -Ion - Hard-to-Hold Working and Finishing Spray
dollief 5/14/2011 4:28:00 PM
I LOVE THIS SPRAY!! I have very fine hair that I like to put up in french twists quite a bit, but it is so very fine and slick that it is hard to get it to stay..... this is exactly what the label says, a working spray for hard to hold hair. I spray the length of my hair with this lightly, then put up my french twist and voila! the bobby pins hold, the updo stays. Great, great product! Also, the mist is very very fine. Also could be used as just a great flexible hold hair spray, or as a volumizer. Definite staple for me from now on. Also, ALL the Ion products I have tried have been great!

Conditioner -Ion - Anti-Frizz Solutions - Leave-In Conditioner Detangler Spray

A really good detangling leave-in that doesn't make my extremely thin, fine hair flat, nor sticky. Like everything else Ion I've tried, it's great!

Hair Color -Clairol - Second Nature
dollief 5/7/2011 7:19:00 PM
I had gotten tired of lightening my hair with Excellence, and wanted to dye-back to my natural dark ash blonde... So I went and bought Second Nature in Dark Ash Blonde at Sally's, along with the Ion Color Brilliance Sensitive Scalp 10 Volume Developer. This Second Nature shade is a violet-based ash, which is unusual as far as I can tell. In the past I had dyed back using Natural Instincts in Coastal Dune, which worked great, except that within two weeks it washed back out to the brassy color I was trying to cover up. The Second Nature did come out a little dark at first... more of a light ash brown, but within a couple weeks it lightened up to a perfect dark ash blonde and has held that shade ever since. Wonderful product which I will definitely repurchase should it ever be necessary!

Eye Shadow -Almay - Intense i-color 032 trio for blues
dollief 5/7/2011 7:05:00 PM
Very lovely colors... the light pink highligher shade is.....holographic? It has a beautiful shimmer and blends perfectly with the taupe shade. The dark dark blue is wonderful as an eyeliner. I am all thumbs with eye looks, and this trio even makes it easy for me. Lovely, subtle colors that look great on a PPP like me. Also wears pretty well. This is my go-to everyday look for my office job.

My old standby. Been using for about 15 years. Very mild and does not burn the eyes. A definite must-have for me.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser (Normal to Oily Skin)
dollief 4/25/2011 8:42:00 PM
Very harsh feeling, especially to the eyes if you happen to get it in there. Doesn't lather at all, but that is not a problem. But I cannot, absolutely cannot tolerate the extreme smell! And my sensitive skin burns after use. Not even fit for hand soap because of the repulsive smell.

Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Summer Fruit
dollief 3/17/2011 3:42:00 PM
Bought this for my daughter when we saw it as an impulse buy close to the register at Wal-Mart. I really wanted it myself because of the cute packaging... found out quickly I didn't like it. Fruit flavor is WAY too strong (but I guess teens would like that), and the packaging is cute, but impractical. Also I think it actually dries my lips out. Not again.

Cleansers -Ponds - Cleansing Towlettes
dollief 1/16/2011 6:55:00 PM
First and last foray into the makeup remover wipe world. I'm a dediated "old formula" ponds (or knockoff) user, and decided to try these to see if they were easier than creaming my face, then removing the cold cream with a baby wipe wrung out in hot water. Yeah, they were easier, but also didn't remove my makeup. I use Almay TLC, which is sort of like Colorstay. Nope. Also didn't remove my mascara, and I use Volumnious regluar (NOT waterproof), which always washes right off with mild foaming cleanser. Won't buy again.

Other -Bath and Body Works - whole store
dollief 11/13/2010 11:30:00 PM
My daughter loves their Warm Vanilla Sugar (YUK!) so I went in the other day to buy for her birthday. Everything in that store is way over priced, and I hate how everything looks the same, same packaging, labels, whatever... Overhyped and overpriced. I will not go back.
