Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - Latisse Lash Growth Drops
dollchild 5/27/2011 10:07:00 AM
I've always had average lashes with blonde tips. It'd take me coats and coats of mascara each morning to get the look I wanted. So of course I tried Latisse. At first, I had some minor irritation -- some itching on the eyelid and some eye redness in the morning. But this went away after the first few weeks and was alleviated by eye drops. For the first month, nothing much happened. Around week 5, I noticed the length changing. Each morning for the next several weeks, I'd have new, darker lashes cropping up. Some of them would stick around, and some of them would be gone the next day. They were constantly changing. But one thing was sure -- they were getting longer, thicker, and darker. I had the most impressive results around week 12 or 13. And even though I'm on week 20 or so as I write this, I'm still using it just about every night, and my lashes continue to change -- mostly they're getting thicker. Check my profile for a before/after shot with NO mascara. (And please forgive my photography and Photoshop skills!) I love Latisse and plan on using it for as long as I can afford it. I have hazel eyes and haven't had any eye change color, nor have any darkening of the eyelid. I love my spidery lashes! Thanks, Allergan.

Conditioner -L'anza - Trauma Treatment
dollchild 2/2/2009 11:14:00 AM
Guess this is one of those all or nothing type products. Sadly, it's a NOTHING for me! My hair is fine, but thick, mid-back length, and both highlighted and lowlighted. This weighed my hair down like nobody's business, and made it poofy and not sleek at all. I'm going to give it a try in the shower as a rinse-out, and will update thereafter. As a leave-in? Never again!

Powder -Christian Dior - Diorskin Nude Fresh Glow Makeup
dollchild 1/21/2009 5:17:00 PM
When I was lusting over Smashbox's new Halo powder recently, THIS is the stuff I was really looking for. This goes on cool. I can actually feel the moisture in the powder! There are 4x as many shades to choose from (whereas Halo only has four -- boo!), and I'm looking glowy here at the end of the work day. Your skin is supposed to become better and more hydrated (even without the foundation) the more you use it. I'll letcha know! The Halo, however, is headed back to Sephora, STAT! Maybe if Smashbox offered a shade between Casper ("Fair") and The Simpsons (a very yellowish "Light"), I might have kept it! (though I never really got the glowy look from that one). Give this powder foundation a chance. I might try the liquid version of it next.

Powders -Smashbox - Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder
dollchild 1/21/2009 10:57:00 AM
We all *want* to love this stuff, right? Because it sounds like a dream come true. A beautifying skin treatment that's also a foundation. Bring it! I'd be happy to pay the $60 for the stuff if it worked for me. But it just doesn't. And, God, I've tried. I've been wearing it for about a week now, and I've already gotten a comment (from a GUY friend, even) something to the tune of: "Is your makeup different? It looks more . . . *white*." Um, ya. I got the lightest shade, Fair, because the Light makes me look like a Simpson. So this stuff is just NOT a shade match for me. I mean, from Casper to Simpson? Nothing in between? C'mon! I didn't notice any hydrating effects from the powder, but I DID notice that it didn't sit in any fine lines around my eyes. That and the innovative shaver give it two lippies. This stuff's going back. I found what I was looking for in Dior's Nude Natural Glow Fresh Powder Makeup. You can actually feel the cooling sensation of the water in that one, it's cheaper (though smaller, admittedly), and has tons more shades to choose from!

Styling Products -Living Proof - No Frizz Medium-Coarse hair
dollchild 1/21/2009 10:22:00 AM
Love it or hate it, ladies -- but try it! I, for one, LOVE IT! I have mid-back length thick, but fine hair that's highlighted and lowlighted. I have major frizzies on the top layer of my hair, and flyaways to boot. Enter: No Frizz. I purchased the Treatment version, which is the heavy-duty one. Just got it last week, and I'm already in love. Apply it all over on towel-dried hair, then add your other usual products (though silicone serums aren't recommended). My top layer stays as flat as a salon blowout, and almost all my flyaways are kept at bay. Even better: it's safe to put No Frizz on your scalp, too! (I contacted the company, Living Proof, to ask.) Forget dry shampoos -- you don't even NEED them with this stuff! I'm usually oily on day two, but with No Frizz on my roots, I don't get oily till about day four. Swear to you. Best product find ever. It will change the quality of your (hair) life forever.

Lip Treatments -Nivea - A Kiss Of Shimmer
dollchild 1/7/2009 4:54:00 PM
Cute pink tube. Smooth product. It really does add just a touch of shimmer! My lips feel great. Can layer and layer it, and it's never too heavy, nor does it get "slimy" after it's been on for awhile. (You girls know what I meanm right?) Would probably not be enough for those with severely chapped lips. Great for normal lips in winter, though! My favorite out of all the Blistex, Chapstick, etc. "girly" formulations.

Mascara -Rimmel - Sexy Curves
dollchild 11/14/2008 9:32:00 AM
Even though I have about 4 viable mascaras goin' right now, I had to try this cute purple one -- especially with 4 Extra Bucks instantly at CVS! :) I'm not a big fan of most funky wands, but this one rocks. Volume and curl in mere seconds. My lashes look so thick! They're normally curly, and this made them even curlier. Awesome stuff -- even better than the Rimmel pink comb brush, which is my other Rimmel favorite. With mascaras like these hitting drugstores almost montly, I may never spend $20+ for a mascara again! Only reason it didn't get 5 lippies is because I dunno that it's HG material, but I'd definitely buy it again.

Styling Products -TiGi - BEDHEAD Superstar Volumizing Leave-In Conditioner
dollchild 11/13/2008 11:33:00 AM
SO wanted to love this. Wasn't digging the strawberry smell. (Just don't want my hair to smell like candy; I'd rather it smell herbal.) The conditioning power was undetectable, as was the volumizing. Worst part of all though is that it made my ends feel dry. You're going back, Superstar! No star quality in this one. At least not for my mid-back fine locks. GHD's Fat Hair Lotion is the winner for me so far.

Brows -Anastasia Of Beverly Hills - Nu Brow - Brow Enhancing Serum
dollchild 10/29/2008 3:42:00 PM
I was the victim of an evil waxer who took off half of my right brow! Ugh. This was recommended to me by my usual waxer. Did my brow grow back? Yeah. It did. But I don't think it grew back much faster than it would have if I hadn't been using this. Hard to get the last of the gel at the bottom, too -- though I do like it as a (really expensive!) brow groomer under BeneFit's Brow Zings. Will I rebuy? Naw, probably not. Here's hoping I don't get an insane waxer at my face again!

Conditioner -Wen by Chaz Dean - Lavender Cleansing Conditioner
dollchild 10/29/2008 2:09:00 PM
YES!!! Just tried this stuff this mornin' -- and used the reviewer below's advice (thanks, tracita!) RINSE, RINSE, RINSE. Before the Wen, and after. I could've probably rinsed some more, truth be told. But things went really well for my first go. My hair is super shiny and soft today! And the menthol spell doesn't linger at all. I'm am a little greasy near my forehead, but I imagine I can put less there with the next go 'round. And just as they advertised, my hair holds a curl better with this stuff! Usually my curls are all straight by mid-day, but it's 2pm now, and they're still holdin' on. With some experimentation with the amount of squirts (I have bra-length hair) and the rinsing, I do believe this may be HG status. Stay tuned!

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Bb Shine
dollchild 10/21/2008 12:45:00 PM
I've been eyeballing this for awhile now, not unlike you, curious reader! CVS has this, and due to their ever-so-lenient return policy, I finally caved and got it. I gotta admit -- the toxic descriptions you've read below are all true. It smells like Mystic Tan! So yeah, really chemically. But it doesn't last. Not on my hair, at least. I used it this morning for the first time, spraying section by section as I flat-ironed. And now my hair is virtually frizz- and flyaway-free -- and super shiny, to boot. This stuff is *awesome.* It just better last me awhile . . . $40? I mean, sheesh! For a product that works this well though, it's worth it. I mean, how many hum-ho shine products are just sitting in your stash not being used? Give this a shot!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Wear Eyeshadow Trio - Bronze Glitz
dollchild 9/22/2008 12:44:00 PM
No. Bad. Orange. That's my cavewoman review of this stuff. Then again, I'm pretty light-skinned, and I grabbed this stuff because I was separated 6 long hours from my makeup bag -- and I had to be ready to go to a wedding ASAP! I ended up toning it down and using a lot of the highlighter on the browbone, in the corners of my eyes, and on part of the lid. As emergency makeup, it was fine once I tooled with it for about 5 minutes and used the "bronze" sparingly. Would definitely not repurchase this, unless I ever get back my super-dark Alabama tan of years ago -- and forget my makeup bag again!

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Lineur Intense
dollchild 9/8/2008 10:25:00 AM
THANK YOU, ladies, for lovin' this liner, so that I could discover it! I haven't worn liquid liner on my top lid for over a decade, because my shaky hands could never get the line to be thin enough. But this stuff, my dears, is incredible! I just picked it up at Target yesterday, and I get the thinnest, most beautiful line with it. Makes my eye shadows look SO much better than with just shadow liner alone. And I get such control with that long brush! Now if I can just learn to wing it on the ends without it looking foolish . . . :)

Styling Products -T3 - Plump Heat Seeking Liquid Hair Plumper
dollchild 8/28/2008 11:01:00 AM
Smells nice. But I should've listened to the other two gals who'd already reviewed this. Ah, I just couldn't resist! I like the T3 iron booster and the T3 dry shampoo, so I hoped to love this one. When I first blowdried my long, fine locks I thought I was getting some decent volume. But after an hour, it was obvious that it was nothing that'd last. My hair, like others', fell flat, just like always. For $38, you're goin' back to Sephora, my friend. Ted Gibson's Blowdrying Agent is a better choice (and for $10 less!)

Self Tanners -Clarins - Crème Délicieuse Auto-Bronzante
dollchild 8/21/2008 3:13:00 PM
My favorite self-tanner, hands down. I've bought it twice, and am about to buy it a third time. Thing is, I use it all over my body. So yeah -- it runs out rather quickly. I can't use self-tanner on my face (I get a rash), but my body loves the stuff, and I look so naturally tanned with it. Plus, though some others have said they hate it, I love the smell! Candy goodness. Just wish it weren't so expensive. I find that my color lasts several days with this, unlike other self-tanner lotion types.
