Styling Products -TRESemme - Split Remedy Split End Sealing Serum

Just bought and used this today based on the good reviews, and I was pleasantly surprised. I put my hair through hell this weekend, using 3 box dyes and Revlon's highlighting kit to lighten my black hair. Needless to say, it worked--but my hair ultimately felt like straw!! Even after deep conditioning, I knew I needed some sort of serum to mend my *scraggly*-looking ends. I squirted 2 pumps into my hands and distributed it through the bottom half of my hair which was slightly damp. After it air-dried... OMG. My hair was so silky and smooth and my ends also looked so much better! I couldn't stop running my fingers through my hair (which I couldn't believe I was able to do after my hair resulted in being very straw-like). Honestly it felt as if I had never dyed/bleached it.. ha. Right now this is a miracle product at a very affordable price. I've only used this product once but I'll update if anything changes.

Primer/ Corrector -Neutrogena - Shine Control Primer
rated 5 of 5

I think I've found my HG primer! I have only incorporated this into my routine for the past 4 days (replacing my usual primer), but on each of those days I had makeup on for a good 8-9 hours. And I didn't have to blot once! Nearing the end of those nights, my face just had the softest glow. My forehead and my cheeks tend to get a bit oily/shiny throughout the day, but this seriously kept those areas looking matte and like my makeup was just freshly applied. Such a change from what I was getting out of my old primer. In my case, this product does what it claims to the T. This was my first Neutrogena product I have purchased in over 5+ years, and I'm extremely happy I bought this! Will definitely repurchase.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
rated 4 of 5

I really really want to love this foundation. Background: My *HG* is Revlon's Colorstay liquid fndtn in combo/oily in NATURAL TAN. Perfect coverage, doesn't break me out, and stays put all day. I also use MAC's Studio Fix Fluid in NC37 but I find that it makes my skin appear oily in just a couple of hours, and is not as long-lasting as my Colorstay. I went to get a new bottle (Colorstay) a couple of weeks ago until I realized that it was the new 24 hour formula instead of the 16 hour one. I read the reviews on the new formula and saw that it was incomparable to the old one, and although I was disappointed I saw this as an opportunity to try the new whipped foundation. I did some research and decided to go with my regular shade, NATURAL TAN, and it was actually a liiiiiittle too dark for me. I ended up buying the shade WARM GOLDEN as well, which I felt matched me better and I was able to warm it up using bronzer. I apply and spread the foundation with my fingers (I never use my fingers for foundation but I feel you kind of have to with this bc of its unique consistency), then use a synthetic flat-top brush to blend it seamlessly into my skin and get rid of any streaks. I really like the coverage and I find that I don't have to blot with this fndtn, oil-breakthrough is extremely minimal! Like a lot of reviews have stated, I feel that this fndtn looks better on my skin as the day goes on. What's holding me back from giving this a higher rating are the weird tiny bumps it's giving me on my cheeks and jawline. They don't even look or feel like pimples, they're just... bumps under my skin. I'm sure it's the foundation bc they only started to appear when I began to use this fndtn more and more (about a week and a half ago), and it's a shame because I really wanted this to be my next HG... but, I'm going to keep using it and see what happens. Since it's a thicker foundation than what my skin is used to, a better and more heavy-duty cleansing routine is probably needed. *UPDATED 12/18/12* Bumped rating from a 3 to a 4. The tiny bumps on my cheeks and jawline went away and haven't reappeared. I've actually been using natural tan instead of warm golden because it matches and blends well into my neck.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Dream Matte Pressed Powder
rated 5 of 5

I have this in the shade Honey. This powder has definitely replaced my MAC MSF Natural (in medium plus), and for a fraction of the price! I've been using MAC MSFN powder for a few years now up until this point :) It's always been my happy medium. I always thought drugstore powders were of lesser quality and would break me out, and I prefer not to spend $$$$ on higher-end brand powders. After I hit pan on my MSF, I wanted to try a cheaper alternative. Well, I should have bought this sooner! It matches my foundation perfectly, keeps my face matte for several hours, doesn't oxidize, and if I do decide to touch-up my face with a bit of the powder--it never looks cakey. It makes my skin FLAWLESS. I see all the complaints about the packaging--and I agree, it is a bit bulky, but I think it's genius that the puff is in a "compartment" of its own. It doesn't touch the powder when not in use, meaning less oil and bacteria settling on the powder. BTW, I don't even use the puff, I use a fluffy powder brush to apply. And for those complaining how the top part of the compact swivels out of place when in use... seriously?!?! It's not that hard to control. This is an amazing product.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick - In the Red
rated 5 of 5
djunk1e 12/5/2010 8:37:00 PM

After over two years of lurking, reading reviews and being a MUA member, I've finally been compelled to write my first review, haha. I've been looking for a lipstick to vamp up my everyday look. I have several nude/pink lipsticks that do make me look put together, but I was still looking for a bit of oomph. What better way to do that than with red lipstick? I wanted a red that I could wear everyday, not a super bright red I'd only be able to wear for evening/special events. For reference, I'm Asian (Filipino), have warm/yellow undertones and use Revlon CS liquid combo/oily in Natural Tan. After reading reviews and seeing how much this worked out for a lot of ladies, I settled on buying In the Red by Revlon.. my first red lipstick and I LOVE IT! Honestly, this is the perfect red. It's a beautiful brick red on me, and it's not as dark as I thought it would be. I put chapstick on before I apply this, as I do with all my other lipsticks. It's matte, and doesn't dry out my lips or make them crack. This lasted 5+ hours without reapplying and it still looked just as great as when it was first applied. This makes me look very put together and professional. The packaging is very sleek, too--I don't have to worry about it in my makeup bag. What do I love the most about this lipstick? The compliments I got wearing this! I went to Sephora and the SA's that asked if I needed help complimented me on what I was wearing (on my face). I also went to a MAC counter after and the MA's there said they loved what I was wearing on my lips. Teehee! That made me happy, not bad for my first red lipstick! Five stars!
