Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Coralista

i am a fair skinned gal, blue eyes and freckles with some a pretty pink complexion. i usually have a hard time finding blush that doesn't just accentuate the red/pinkiness of my face and that doesn't contain a ton of glitter (yes NARS i'm looking at you). I have tried many different colors of blush as well as different placement on my face and have yet to find a color that worked for me. I finally broke down and doled out the $$ for this and am so glad i did! i can see this blush being best for fair skinned gals - as it does not really have a ton of color to it - but is beautiful on me - as long as i dont use it on the apples of my cheeks. forever i have been told that is where you put the color and blend out. it just looks wonky on my face. i use sparingly on the back (towards the ear) half of my cheekbones and in the "c" shape up around temple. best glowy-no glittery or too flushed looking color! love! i also do not care for the cardboard box packaging, and just depotted mine into my unii palette for vacation. i was afraid it might be too tall- but it is a perfect fit!

Eyeliner -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lashliner -- Leatherette
rated 5 of 5
dirtyrat 12/3/2010 5:20:00 PM

I have never really been a Bare Escentuals fan - and like very few products from the Buxom line. However I am super impressed with this liner! I have only been using this for about a month so i can't really speak for any lash growth but this a fantastic product as just a liner. I have every type and brand of gel liner (MAC fluidline, Tarte clay liner, even MUFE) and this beats them all hands down. I use the small detailing brush that came with UD Sustainable palette and sort of smudge it into my upper lashline. It's not quite tight lining but not lining in the same place that regular liners go (right above the lashline) and it goes on so smoothly as it doesn't tug and flatten and glue my lashes to my eyelid like for example mac fluidline does, or a pencil eyeliner right on the lashline. I usually follow with an UD 24/7 liner, but the past few days i have just done a neutral lid with this smudged into the lash line and mascara and it's awesome! i have also used it the past few days to line my lower water line, and this is by far the longest wearing liner i have EVER used! I will def repurchase if and when this ever runs out - i would like other colors in this liner - but they all have glitter or sparkle in them and i find the glittery liners always end up hurting my eyes so i will stick with black. I've found this super long wearing - i hope it preforms as well in the summer months!! more colors without glitter and i would probably buy them all :)

Mascara -Make Up For Ever - Smoky Lash Extra Black Mascara
rated 3 of 5
dirtyrat 11/7/2010 12:51:00 PM

I have been looking for a great volumizing/lengething/keep the curl mascara - and am getting tired of shelling out 30$ for mascaras that just suck. I love MUFE aqua creams and shadows so i thought to give this a try since it claims to do it all. Not so much true. Yes it is super black, and i suppose it is volumizing if you consider dumping a ton of product onto the lashes to make them look thicker?? Too much product clumps up like crazy - and yes, you can get a decent look if you spend the time with an eyelash comb - but if you add more than one coat of this stuff it is just a mess, and one coat doesn't seem to do it. More than one coat and you are left with droopy spider lashes. boooo. I do still use this for a night out - when i feel like putting in an xtra 15 minutes to do my mascara - but the last few times i have used this i have been so unhappy with the results i have removed all my eye m/u and started over. soooo not worth it in my book. def NOT repurchase.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Fusion
rated 5 of 5
dirtyrat 11/7/2010 12:44:00 PM

I have been a faithful Diorshow waterproof wearer for the past few years - but have been feeling let down by Diorshow the past few months and have been hunting for a good volumizing/lengthening mascara with mixed results. My last h/e mascara i purchased was MUFE smoky lash - and i thought it was ok - but required far too much work and layers and combing to get a decent look. Also seemed to pull out the curl. Fast forward to grocery shopping last week when i saw this Lash BLast Fusion and on a whim picked it up and thought i would give it a try. Bottom line - I AM IMPRESSED!! I have pretty sparse thin lashes that are blond on the tips - so i am looking for a mascara to do it all - lengthen, volume, and not smear or flake all over my face. This mascara rocks. i can easily apply 2 or 3 quick coats back to back and have NO problems with clumps or droopy lashes. 3 coats give me a great fan of black, long, lush and thick lashes in a snap. I am not super fond of the huge tube and how much space it takes up - but honestly that's just trivial stuff :) I have tried all the other lash blast mascaras and ended up tossing them or giving them away - but this one is def. a keeper and has found a permanent place in my m/u collection.

Concealers -MAC - Pro Longwear concealer
rated 5 of 5
dirtyrat 10/1/2010 12:30:00 AM

Well for starters I was sure I had already found my HG concealer (MAC select coverup nw20) and wasn't even looking to purchase another - until I went into MAC and wanted to try on foundation. I used a wipe to take off all of my makeup and commented to the m/u/a that it had better be some miracle foundation to cover my dark circles and zits. She used this on my under eye and blemishes and i was really pleased with the coverage and how easily it glided under eye without looking cakey or accentuating the fine lines under my eyes. nw20 is a perfect match for me :) this is my new HG . of course i have to mention how much i hate the silly pump - they sell the pump xtra with foundation- why not do the same for concealer?

Eye Shadow -MAC - She Who Dares mineralize shadow duo (Venomous Villains Collection)
rated 5 of 5
dirtyrat 10/1/2010 12:05:00 AM

I didn't really see anything online that grabbed my eye from this collection. Today i went into my local MAC and the colors of this caught my eye. dark black-blue with blue sparkle and dark blackened green with lighter green sparkles. totally a whim purchase and mentally I was telling myself that these colors were too shimmery and glittery for my taste and age - and i would probably be returning it. I swatched it tonight and took off my eye m/u and tried it out - LOVE it! my pictures suck - i'm tired and sweaty and the light was horrible - but seriously i have never used a glittery shadow that didn't end up a mess of fallout under my eyes and glittery cheeks - with a damp brush over a neutral gray MUFE aqua cream base these shadows are AMAZING. NO FALLOUT - i was shocked. love love love! The only thing I dont especially care for is the actual packaging with Maleficent on the top. mostly because i am sure it will scratch off and look horrible in 5 minutes :)

Mascara -Urban Decay - Eyelash Primer Potion
rated 1 of 5
dirtyrat 9/21/2010 9:10:00 PM

I am an Urban Decay fan, and have been looking for a good eyelash primer. I have tried a few of the d/s brand primers and always end up with scary spider lashes and clumps galore - so i decided to fork out the $ for this. I am not impressed. This is not any better (if not worse) than any of the d/s brands i have tried. I have tried applying this primer and then mascara right away when it is still wet - clumps like crazy and I totally lose the curl. I have tried letting it dry and then applying mascara - this is a little bit better - but still lose all curl and have some clumps - there is NO BENEFIT whatsoever. Strait clumpy lashes no matter what. boooooo Urban Decay! Ridiculous price for a worthless product.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rated 5 of 5
dirtyrat 9/13/2010 2:48:00 PM

i really don't know that this palette needs any more glowing reviews - but i am so excited i finally got my hands on one of these! i was getting work done on my car and decided to check out Sephora (which i have been doing 2x a week waiting for this to be in stock) and did a little dance when i saw they had them in stock FINALLY! all the colors are velvety, pigmented, and blend SO easily. of course when i got home i had to play - and i LOOOVE this palette! I don't really own too many neutrals - my m/u drawer is mostly brights - i feel a lot of neutrals and esp. browns look like crap on my face. ALL OF THESE ARE FANTASTIC!! i hate the reviews that just say "love this product"..... but omg. i totally do. best purchase of the year for me!

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Stay-There Eyeshadow in Saint Bernard
rated 4 of 5
dirtyrat 9/9/2010 10:55:00 PM

i have tried lots of cream eye shadows from d/s to MAC paint pots and Benefit cream shadows. paint pots i find too thick and they drag on my eyelid making it hard to get even coverage - i prefer them for lining. I lie Benefit's creaseless cream shadows - but wish they had a bigger color selection - they are all pretty neutral colors. I spied the Buxom stay there eyeshadow brush and picked that up right away - but didn't really have an interest in another cream shadow ($17) that i didn't need and probably would sit unused in a drawer with all the rest. And then of course the salesgirl started talking up the shadows and i did a few test swipes since the colors are a lot bolder than other creams i have - and i was pretty darn impressed with the great shimmery (not glittery!) color payoff. I decided to get Saint Bernard which is a lovely sea foam green color and have used it daily for a pop of color since then. i was surprised at how little product you get - but let me tell you - a little goes a VERY long way! I tried using the brush i had purchased - and it was ridiculous how much product it picked up - i found the littlest touch with my ring finger picked up enough product to evenly color most of my eyelid, and i found using a finger is the best way to go. this stuff sets like a dream and doesn't budge. I will def pick up a few other colors.

Lipstick -Tarte - LipSurgence Natural Matte Lip Stain in Envy
rated 4 of 5
dirtyrat 9/9/2010 12:24:00 PM

This is my second Tarte matte lip stain - the first i purchased was firey - and it is waaay too bright/orangey for my tastes. Envy i actually tried on in store and was very happy with this color! neutral but not flesh colored - perfect pinky -my lips but better color :) it's pretty long lasting as far as lip products go, but i wouldn't really call it a stain. i really like the matte - ness of these pencils - but i dont find them moisturizing and usually require a matte balm either under or over this. All in all a little spendy at $24 but worth it for the long(ish) lasting color and i really love this color - i think this is daily wear for me. would repurchase :)

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-liner Gel in Waveline
rated 4 of 5
dirtyrat 8/20/2010 9:37:00 PM

I purchased this on a whim and then read the reviews after the fact ... and wasn't really expecting to like it since most reviews said on the eye it was more of a flat navy blue color. but, happily i really love this color! i have gray/blue eyes and feel a little too 1985 wearing bright blue liners/shadows and this looked in the pot to be a really deep purple-blue color - which is what i was hoping for. So here's the skinny. this liner can (CAN) totally look exactly the same as in the pot on the eye. like blacktrack - you do have to apply two coats to get true dark pigment - which is a pain in the butt if you are in a hurry - but totally worth it if you have the xtra time! Also the bright purple-blue color shows up MUCH better over lighter colored shadows.... it does still show up over a darker shadow but you have to work at a bit :/ this liner also looks great with UD deluxe shadow in Ransom over it for a brighter purple pop - or MAC's Plumage for a darker purple-blue. So, yes a little extra work is involved - but until i find this same color gel liner that stays put as well as this does - it's worth it to me!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Twice Baked
rated 5 of 5
dirtyrat 8/8/2010 1:22:00 AM

Twice baked is one of the only (if not THE only) color that i love from the Sustainable Shadowbox palette. I love this color so much (and hate the stupid swivel palette) that i picked up a single in this color as well. I have a hard time finding browns that don't make me look tired or like i got punched in the eye. this brown is perfect as a crease color with a lighter green or brown or gold lid...or just as an all over lid color on it's own. i like that this seems almost creamier not frosty like most UD shadows. and the glitter in this is sooo minimal....tiny little reflects of gold. love. Definitely one of my staple colors.

Blush -Tarte - Cheek Stain in Blissful
rated 5 of 5
dirtyrat 8/8/2010 1:14:00 AM

I have picked up and quickly put back Tarte cheek stain many times because all of the colors are so bright in the tube i just didn't think they could possibly look any less scary on my face. I WAS SO WRONG. i decided to give one a whirl because i am tired of the one same old same old pink MAC blush - the only blush i have ever owned. I picked this color because it was peachy and seemed to be the only one without shimmer in it. in my 30's shimmer on my face just seems to accentuate every line and pore - its not a good look. so. after spending a good ten minutes trying to figure out how to get the silly clear protective cap off i looked at this bright orange giant chapstick and wondered how to best get it on my face. i swiped a couple of times on each cheek and rubbed with my fingers and voila! lllove this color and the dewey finish ....color stayed all day even though it's hot and humid and i am a greaseball. tonight i used a liprush and put it on my lips (although i don't think this is meant for lips? package just reads "cheekstain") and i LOVE this color on my lips. not drying....tastes a little odd/bitter but not a strong taste. i am assuming it will last forever - very impressed/

Fragrances -Donna Karan - Be Delicious
rated 5 of 5
dirtyrat 6/26/2010 1:59:00 PM

i received this as a sample from Sephora - and was sure i would hate it after the first spray - it was so STRONG! but i always forget that most fragrances are at first spray. after a few minutes the scent was PERFECT! light and crisp and perfect for spring/summer. i just bought the full sized bottle, and will def. repurchase.
