Lipstick -Maybelline - Moisture Extreme - Desert Bloom [DISCONTINUED]

Like everyone else, I can't believe this is a Maybelline lipstick. I'm a lipgloss girl making a quiet comeback to lipstick, and picked this up recently. Lightweight, smells decent, lasts long, and moisturizing enough to not need lip balm underneath. The shade is a pretty, nude-ish mauve that starts out a touch grey but it warms up after about 30 minutes of wear. I'd give this 5 lipsticks if it moisturizes this well in the winter, too. I'm hoping to find other shades in this stuff that'll suit me. The ones I saw at the store were overly frosty brown shades that wouldn;t, I'm a NW20 for reference. :-)
Lipstick -L'Oreal - Color Riche Star Secret Aishwarya Beige

I *really* like this lipstick. I wear this when I want to tone down the pink in my lips, but not go totally concealor-covered nude on my mouth. It's my de facto warm neutral for when I wear bronzer, or get a little sun. Yes, it's light beige with undetectable micro-shimmer and it is very much on the warm side (so I can imagine this clashes with lots of cooler skin tones) but if you're on the neutral side, this could work for you. I'm an NW20 and this is just lovely. It looks nothing like what it does in the ad (which made me NOT want it.) Not crazy about how the smell lingers on the mouth, but it IS moisturizing and long lasting. This is rather popular so I'd pick up another tube...if I ever get lucky to see it on the shelves again!
Let me start this review by saying I absolutely love this mascara. The black is as dark as I like, for a non-waterproof mascara, it stays put and doesn't smudge, and the application is a dream. So why only three lippies? I wear contacts and this irritates my eyes like crazy. I think the product might be flaking right into my eyes. Sigh. The search for HG continues.
Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipgloss- Cherries in the Glow [DISCONTINUED]

I *love* this colour! Thanks to all who wrote reviews- I honestly wouldn't have picked it up without them. I love most of the Revlon Super Lustrous shades, but this one, looking tomato red in the tube- um, no thanks. It looked too scary. But it's a YLBB shade for us pinkier-lipped girls. It's the kind of clear, neutral red that I hoped Dr. Pepper Lipsmacker would give me (it didn't give me anything but a root beer scent). I tend to prefer clear colours like this, with limited or no shimmer, so I sure hope that Revlon introduces similar, non-sparkly shades like this real soon! Colouring: dark hair and eyes, NW20 skintone.
I got a miniature bottle of this as a GWP at the Dior counter. It's not terrible, and I'm sure it smells a lot prettier on others, but meh...if I smelled this on someone, I couldn't differentiate it from any other ole dept store perfume. I gave it to my mom, and I think she won't be wearing it much, either...that being said, we're both into musky and/or gourmand scents.
Styling Products -KMS California - Curl-Up Curling Balm

On the upside, this smells gorgeous- like mango and vanilla! Otherwise, this does NOTHING for curls. In fact, I use it as my straightening balm (and I have curly hair!) Wouldn't repurchase.
Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - 5 Colour Eyeshadow - Incognito 030

I actually have a mini-version of this palette, from a GWP. That being said, I'm honestly impressed with the quality and versatility of this eyeshadow set. The pale pink shade is a perfect eyeshadow base colour (I'm an NW20) for those days you don't want to wear eyeshadow, but simply want to brighten your eyes. The upper right corner has the most perfect beige-based pearly shimmer I've ever had the pleasure of using. They all look so blah and boring in the package, but boy, do these colours wake you up! Last very long, too, with minimal creasing.
Lip Gloss -Bonne Bell - Smackers Lip Sparkler - Mocha Jolt

My first foray into Bonne Belle Lip Sparklers. I loved the colour, as I was looking for something beige and sparkly, and not one to spend money on that, because I usually screw up beige all the time, picked this up. Its qualities as a gloss are ok, at least for work, since it's so sheer, and almost clear on me. But I love the flavour and the moisturizing quality of this thing, so I keep it at the office as my "lip balm". Would repurchase.
If my skin were dry enough, or winters were longer, I'd keep buying this stuff. Otherwise, I'll say that I sure wish Kiehls made a half-sized version of it. I bought a jar last winter, and I am using it again now much more regularly, and I STILL didn't put a dent in it. See, all you do is use a pea-sized amount, rub between your fingers, and apply it to just-washed, slightly damp skin, and you're good to go. Don't even need to reapply in the morning, it's just that moisturizing. Hasn't made me break out, and leaves my skin incredibly soft. Alas, the shelf time for this sort of thing can't be longer than 3 years, I don't think, so soon it'll start doubling up as cuticle cream, or foot lotion or something. If you have normal-to-dry skin, then this can be used once daily. If you live in humid summer months, you won't need it. I can't verify its claims that it firms skin just yet, but I do agree it makes me rather glowy. I like. I just wish it were smaller, and thus, priced less expensively, so I wouldn't have to waste it.
*Easily* one of my favourite lipglosses, no matter what season. I find the colour swatches online rather deceiving. In reality, this is a more complicated colour than "sheer red with gold shimmer." Its base looks cool, but the colour itself looks kinda browned a bit, and is further warmed with the gold shimmer. On the mouth, it's semi-sheer, and the colour is definitely unique. I'm not a fan of pot glosses, but these are amazing, and I'm looking forward to purchasing more! The texture is sublime- not sticky, but stays put, and is ultra-moisturizing. Costs a small fortune, but the cool thing is, once it's finished, you can melt another pot gloss into this handy compact, since it features a neat little mirror on the inside. I like these products a lot!
Orchid is this warm sheer red colour that can be probably used by just about anyone. I bought this along with a couple of other Jouer products in the summer, and as I tend to not wear much makeup in the warm months, this alone with some waterproof mascara was what I used. This is an all-over colour, so I used it as a lipstain and blush, and it worked very well with my colouring (black hair, brown eyes, NW20 skintone that tans easily), though I think it definitely looks better on me when I'm more "medium-toned". It doesn't last all day long, though, not unless it's colder out. It averages a couple of hours, but the fun is in pulling out this cute lil thing and using it!
Lotions/ Creams -Olay - Quench Body Lotion Extra Dry Skin
digit 1/5/2006 9:54:00 PM
Omigosh, I honestly didn't expect this product to be this good! It's actually, like, moisturizing my skin in this harsh winter, and applying once after showers is sufficient for 24 hours! I am honestly amazed, my skin is dry like the sahara no matter how high the humidifier is turned up in the winter months. This stuff does what it says, smells pretty and light, and while I didn't expect it, nor do I normally go for shimmery body products, the itty bitty sparkles put a smile on my face and make me feel girlie even when I'm dressed like the abominable snowman. So huge thumbs up from me!
Scrubs -Biore - Pore Perfect Pore Unclogging Scrub
digit 11/26/2005 10:42:00 AM
Meh- this ain't no scrub- there are barely any scrubby beads in it! I still use it just to use it up despite the fact that this is by far an unremarkable product. The smell is strange- fruity with menthol, and like the reviewer before me, I use this more as a mildly foaming cleanser, which I believe is its main purpose- to be a gentle exfoliating daily cleanser. It isn't making my face break out, but then again, I'm using this only in the shower a couple times a week, along with other skin treatments- so really, I'm not too sure about its effects. It's too expensive to be just blah. I'd imagine this is good as a daily exfoliator for someone with extremely sensitive skin that can't use one exfoliator once a week at full strength (but then again, that doesn't explain the product's strong fragrance and inclusion of menthol. That stuff stings!)
This review is for the Transparent Care Gloss and Shine, not the tinted one (though that product is excellent as well!) This stuff is just perfect for work, and for those days when you just want a faint shine. It isn't transparent per say- to my eye it has very tiny gold shimmer. Staying power is great, lipbalm properties are amazing considering its low price (though I still prefer Rosebud Salve in terms of moisturizing). For some reason this is tough to find in my area, which is really too bad.
Styling Products -Sexy Hair Concepts - Curly Sexy Hair - Curling Detangler

AMAZING STUFF for long, fine, curly and therefore prone to knotting hair. This is the stuff! It does what it says it will- detangles, lightly conditions and makes your hair shiny and soft. I often use this on its own when it isn't too humid outside. LOVE. Go get this!
