Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - Glossing Cream with Olive Oil
rated 4 of 5

This stuff makes my hair so smooth and shiny, it's unbelievable. I have to be careful though, because if I use too much it makes my hair really greasy. But when used properly, it's fantastic. What's annoying though, is that sometimes the cream separates and I'll end up with a hand full of pure olive oil. Blech! All things considered though, I haven't found anything yet that trumps this in terms of condition and shine.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Discovery Mini-Brush Waterproof
rated 4 of 5
dianabechillin 3/18/2006 11:32:00 PM

A great everyday mascara for my tiny, thin, puny little eyelashes. The small brush is genius; I used to use Lancome Hypnose, and while I found the formula great, the big brush just wouldn't reach many of my short lashes. Lash Discovery manages to do that. It's absolutely true though that it doesn't provide a very dramatic look. My lashes look longer, but not much thicker. This is definitely not a "statement" mascara, but it is the best everyday mascara I've found to date.

Lipstick -Guerlain - Divinora #480
rated 5 of 5

I really love this lipstick. I always try others, but end up coming back to this one. I don't find it as drying as some of the other reviewers have. It's actually pretty moisturizing, I find, and it also has wonderful lasting power. I have really pink, pigmented lips and this tones them down to a pale pink-beige. I absolutely love it.

Lipstick -Cover Girl - Incredifull 800 rapturous rose
rated 3 of 5
dianabechillin 3/13/2006 4:10:00 PM

I really liked the colour: a pale, pale pink that looks great with smoky eyes and my NC30 skin. I also really liked the texture: it's a shiny lipstick that makes my lips feel really soft. The "full" effect is subtle, if anything. I'm not much of a believer in lip plumpers. There's definitely a temporary effect but not much more than that. But regardless, it's a great lipstick. The packaging is nice, but I find that the cap doesn't secure perfectly onto the tube. Great product nonetheless. UPDATE: I took off one lippie because it's not a very long-lasting lipstick at all. The colour fades in like an hour!

Powder -Clinique - Perfectly Real Compact Powder Foundation
rated 5 of 5
dianabechillin 3/12/2006 12:01:00 PM

I've been using this for a couple of days now, so really I should be waiting a few more days before I write this rave review, but I can't wait. It's that good. I have combination/oily skin that's acne-prone. This foundation is perfect. The texture is so silky, and it does cover well. I apply it with a sponge in the mornings, and then I use a powder brush to touch up if/when I need to. (With this foundation, I only need to touch up once a day, which is unbelievable). I'm an NC25-NC30, and I use shade 108(G). The only thing I'd say is that this is definitely not the best foundation for people with dry, flaky skin. But if you have problems with excess oil, I would definitely recommend this.

Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer
rated 5 of 5
dianabechillin 3/9/2006 6:15:00 PM

Best concealer I've ever used, hands down. I use it in either C25 or an NC30 (NC30 in the areas where the sun hits, like my forehead). It's incredible. I've used it for like 6 years, and have never stopped loving it. It's a full coverage concealer with great lasting power, and it doesn't break me out at all. And I have combination/oily/acneprone/sensitive skin, so that's saying a lot. It's amazing!! I only wish I had as positive an experience with the Studio Fix foundation...

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
rated 2 of 5
dianabechillin 3/9/2006 6:11:00 PM

I had such high hopes for this product. I used this for quite a long time, a couple of months, so I'm reviewing this after a pretty lengthy trial run. I really like MAC (I admit, particularly because of the simple, elegant packaging) but it just didn't work. I'm usually an NC30, but in this I found that for this particular product after the colors oxidize they darken significantly, so I found that an NC25 worked much better for me. The foundation felt dry and tight on my skin as soon as I applied it, and the feeling lasted for a long time. I have combination/oily skin, and so I wasn't really expecting the foundation to feel so uncomfortably dry. Also, the product definitely broke me out -- not incredibly horribly, but a few pimples which is bad enough in my opinion. But worst of all -- whenever pictures were taken of me wearing this product, I looked like a ghost. For real. It was horrible. Apparently this happens because of the titanium dioxide in the product. I'm really looking forward to trying the new Clinique Perfectly Real compact, which doesn't have titanium dioxide in it, so hopefully that'll work better for me.

Eye Shadow -LORAC - Jade
rated 5 of 5
dianabechillin 3/9/2006 6:07:00 PM

This is the first LORAC product I've ever bought, and I have to say I love it to death. The colour is amazing -- a wonderful smoky shimmery green-black. Like some other reviewers have said, it's not all that green; only slightly. In any case, it looks beautiful. And the best part is the staying power. It lasts all day on me, something that very few eyeshadows I've used have been able to do. Amazing, amazing.

Styling Products -L'Oreal - Smooth Intense Anti-Frizz Serum
rated 4 of 5
dianabechillin 3/9/2006 6:04:00 PM

I use this product as a leave-in conditioner, and it leaves my long, straight hair feeling shiny and smooth, without being weighed down. In the winter, I used to have such horrible problems with static, and this has made that problem disappear. I don't really like the packaging too mcuh, only because I find it really hard to close the bottle after I've used the product when my hands are kind of slick, but that's such a minor issue considering the amazing results the product gives. UPDATE: After a while, it stops being as effective. It's still a great product, but for heavy-duty shine and smoothness when my hair is particularly dry or brittle, I'm going to stick with my Fekkai glossing cream.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - Fresh Vive Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
dianabechillin 3/9/2006 6:01:00 PM

Best shampoo I've ever used. Affordable, and always leaves my hair feeling clean and shiny. My hair is pretty long, so this leads to problems: oily roots, dry ends. When I wash my hair with this shampoo, I concentrate on the roots and only lightly wash the ends. This maintains the moisture in my hair. I use this shampoo in conjunction with the L'Oreal Vive Smooth-Intense Anti-Frizz Serum, which I use as a Leave-in conditioner. It's an amazing combination that leaves my hair perfectly moisturized, and not weighed down or frizzy.

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Buffering Lotion
rated 4 of 5
dianabechillin 3/9/2006 4:37:00 PM

This is a really effective product for getting rid of those irritating, deep-under-the-skin cystic pimples. No spot treatment I've ever used is anywhere near as effective as this. It's pretty amazing. So why did I only give it a 4? Well, firstly, the packaging is pretty terrible. All too often, about ten times more of the product than I need leaks out of the bottle. Also, the product doesn't exactly smell amazing, and if used in excess it can be drying -- though not nearly as drying as most of the other pimple treatments I've tried, especially the ones containing salicylic acid. But all in all, it's completely worth it because it simply is the best pimple treatment I've ever come across.

Scrubs -Neutrogena - Anti Wrinkle Anti Blemish Scrub
rated 5 of 5
dianabechillin 3/9/2006 4:32:00 PM

I love this scrub. I use it every day, twice a day, as my regular cleanser. I have combination/oily/acneprone/sensitive skin, and the exfoliating properties of this cleanser work wonders for me. It has glycolic acid, which a lot of other effective products have. Unlike a lot of glycolic cleansers, this one also foams up -- I really like this. I like the feeling of a foaming cleanser, I find it makes my skin feel much cleaner. It's not drying though. I had previously tried the Mario Badescu Glycolic cleanser and it stripped my skin of all moisture. This scrub is definitely nothing like that -- it leaves my skin soft and smooth every time. I definitely recommend it.

Moisturizers -Olay - Total Effects Anti-Aging Anti-Blemish Moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
dianabechillin 3/9/2006 4:29:00 PM

I actually really like this moisturizer. I have combination/oily skin that's also acne-prone and sensitive -- it's clear, then, that I usually have a really difficult time finding products I like! This moisturizer is a little expensive, especially for a drugstore brand ($18) but it's worth it. It soothes my skin, and my skin has definitely gotten smoother since I've used it (I've used it for about a month so far). Much fewer breakouts. And I really like the smell of it, too. Definitely a great product.
