Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Whisper in Petal Rebel
rated 4 of 5
desertrose08 5/21/2013 3:32:00 PM

This is me second color whisper (Lust for Blush was my first) and I have to say I like Petal Rebel about as much as Lust for Blush. On me, Petal Rebel provides a soft pop of cool toned pink without being loud or garish like other pinks of the same color family. I feel comfortable wearing it with no other makeup and likewise with a full face of makeup (although not perhaps a very deep smokey eye - I prefer a lighter pink like Lust for Blush for that). The only downside is that I noticed that like the L'Oreal color riche caresse lip colors, the color whispers tend to settle slightly into lip lines.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational Lipstick - Warm Me Up
rated 2 of 5
desertrose08 5/21/2013 3:20:00 PM

When I saw Temptalia's swatch of this I ran out on bought it because on her it looked like a gorgeous pink MLBB that would be perfect for everyday or for an evening out. Unfortunately on me, Warm Me Up hardly looks pink - more like a mauve that pulls way too brown for my liking. It has a slight caramelly sort of scent but it fades quickly and there's no taste I can detect. The formula is alright - it's slightly moisturizing and gives a slight sheen however it settles into lip lines after a little while. Won't be repurchasing.

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm in Pink Punch
rated 1 of 5
desertrose08 5/21/2013 3:07:00 PM

So after everyone raved and raved about this on youtube I picked one up and to be honest I'm really not a fan. I don't mind the color of pink punch too much (on me it's a hot pink), but I wasn't a fan of the formula. I didn't find it to be very moisturizing and the color didn't apply very evenly. But honestly the deal breaker for me was the smell/taste which is interesting because apparently a lot of people apparently love it. To me it had this horrific, synthetic, rancid fruit scent that would not budge and resulted in a headache and me feeling ill every time I applied it. I'm usually not that bad about scented lip products - I prefer no scent at all, but if it has a faint smell that fades quickly I won't mind. This however not only smelled terrible, but tasted absolutely horrendous and I'm not one to lick my lips much - but somehow whenever I would apply it, I would have this bitter taste in my mouth immediately after every time. Unfortunately it's too late to return it so I'll be tossing it.

Lip Gloss -Essence - Stay With Me
rated 3 of 5
desertrose08 5/21/2013 2:56:00 PM

I have two Stay with Me glosses: "Me and My Ice Cream" (a light baby pink) and "My Favorite Milkshake" (a very pale peach). I suppose after reading the rave reviews my expectations ran a little too high. I didn't find either gloss to be very pigmented or "color intensive" as they were described on the website. If I applied either on their own they washed my lips out and made them look slightly grayish. However, I do like to layer them over lipstick and I didn't find the formula to be sticky or thick like a lot of other lip glosses advertised as being long-lasting tend to be. There is also no strong scent I can detect which is nice because I don't usually like scented lip products. The price point is also as we know extremely affordable (I believe they're $3 each). From the swatches I've seen online, it seems that the deeper shades are much more pigmented so I might give those a shot. For the record I probably will repurchase "Me and My Ice Cream" to layer over lipstick but not "My Favorite Milkshake" just because on my lips they are too similar to need to have both.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Spectro E-Care (EczemaCare) Intense Rehydration Cream
rated 3 of 5
desertrose08 5/21/2013 2:42:00 PM

I originally bought this product as a facial moisturizer because although I don't have eczema, my cheeks get quite dry and flaky in the winter. Unfortunately it broke me out on my chin, however it works wonderfully well for my super dry hands.

Lip Gloss -Elizabeth Arden - Beautiful Color Luminous Lip Gloss - Coral Kiss 04
rated 4 of 5
desertrose08 5/21/2013 2:36:00 PM

This was on display next to the cash register at Shoppers and it caught my eye. When I swatched it on my hand I was surprised at how pigmented it looked - I often find most shimmery glosses to look basically like clear gloss with shimmer on the lips. Coral Kiss is a gorgeous, warm, mid-tone coral with multicolored shimmer. On the lips, it doesn't quite show up true to the color of the tube but it's still decently pigmented. I don't usually like lip products to be scented but this smells literally like vanilla cupcakes straight out of the oven. The smell is by no means synthetic or plasticky like a lot of gourmand scented lip products can be. The only thing I didn't like is how thick the formula is - it reminds me quite of a bit of the MAC lipglass formula which I'm also not a huge fan of. However, as a result of the formula being sticky, it tends to last longer than non-sticky lip glosses. The side of the lip gloss tube also has a small mirror which can come in handy for touch ups.

Lipstick -MAC - Frost - Angel
rated 4 of 5
desertrose08 5/21/2013 2:21:00 PM

Angel is a color that most people seem to either love or hate. I'd read so many bad reviews about it that I didn't even bother trying it for the longest time - however the last time I was at MAC I tried out Creme Cup because I heard it was a similar color to Angel, but more wearable. Interestingly enough, I found the opposite to be true in my case. Creme Cup was too pale on me and made my lips almost slightly grayish whereas Angel was what I was looking for - a baby pink that doesn't run too cool for my complexion. The only reason I took off a lippie was because on my it settles into lip lines after a little bit.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Caresse in Sunset Angora
rated 4 of 5
desertrose08 5/21/2013 2:00:00 PM

Sunset angora is a beautiful, incredibly wearable coral I wouldn't have noticed if it weren't for the reviews on here so thank you once again MUA :) I find a lot of corals to be bright on me but sunset angora is a very soft shade of coral. The formula is shiny, slightly moisturizing, and the color shows up surprisingly well after a couple of swipes. I took off one lippie however because it has a slight tendency to settle into lip lines. As with most of the shades in the chapstick/lipstick/gloss hybrids (color whispers, lip butters, colour riche caresse) its lasting power is extremely short.

Lipstick -Revlon - Superlustrous Lipstick - Demure (LE)
rated 2 of 5
desertrose08 5/21/2013 1:53:00 PM

When I swatched 'Demure' at the drugstore I thought it was right up my alley - a peachy pink with gold shimmer. Unfortunately on my lips I had to swipe it back and forth like ten times to get any sort of color to show up and when it would show up, it just looked like an unflattering gold frost. The pros were that the formula wasn't drying and didn't settle into lip lines so I'll give it two stars for that.

Lipstick -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - Charm
rated 2 of 5
desertrose08 4/20/2013 10:23:00 PM

It's times like these where I ask myself why I didn't consult MUA before buying...oh well. So I bought this mistakenly thinking that I would actually get a color similar to the color of the tube - a corally peach. I ended up having to swipe this back and forth on my lips at least twenty times in order to get any sort of color to show up, and when it did, it just made my lips an unflattering milky shade that made me look ill. And when I wiped it off, it had stained my lips a ridiculously bright orangey red color that would come off even with makeup remover.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter - Berry Smoothie
rated 5 of 5
desertrose08 4/20/2013 10:16:00 PM

I was a little apprehensive buying this color because I thought it would be a deep purple that I wouldn't be able to wear every day but it's actually a lot more wearable than I expected! On me, Berry Smoothie is just a shade or two deeper than my natural lip color and is a flattering pinky plum. I love how moisturizing the formula is and how it doesn't settle in my lip lines at all. I would say that this and Sweet Tart are my favorite of the lip butters I have tried so far.

Lips -Revlon - ColorBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait
rated 2 of 5
desertrose08 4/20/2013 10:11:00 PM

So I think it has been established that this shade looks absolutely NOTHING like what Emma Stone had on in the lip butter ad, which to me was annoying and misleading. Moving on to the product itself, I wasn't very impressed with Peach Parfait in comparison to other lip butters like Berry Smoothie and Sweet Tart firstly because of the gritty glitter/shimmer and secondly because it doesn't really add a whole lot to my natural lip color and when I applied it quite heavily, it didn't look very flattering.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter - 080 Strawberry Shortcake
rated 2 of 5
desertrose08 4/20/2013 10:05:00 PM

So I purchased this after everyone and their mother was raving about how amazing revlon lip butters were and in particular how lovely and wearable this shade was. On me unfortunately, this turned to a garish, barbie pink that emphasized my lip lines and clashed horrendously with my olive skin tone. The formula was nice, but the color just didn't do it for me.

Lips -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Sweet Tart
rated 5 of 5
desertrose08 4/20/2013 9:59:00 PM

I generally am quite unadventurous when it comes to lip colors: I almost always go for soft pinky nudes/corals. I like the look of deeper lip colors on other people but on me I often feel they make me look overly made up. Sweet Tart seems to be the exception for me - it's a beautiful, rich raspberry color that is somehow still wearable. The formula is also wonderfully moisturizing, perhaps even more so than some of the other Revlon lip butters (eg peach parfait, strawberry shortcake). Even if you're like me and tend to stick to really soft colors, I would go out on a limb and give this one a try :)

Shampoo -LUSH - NEW! Hair
rated 1 of 5
desertrose08 4/20/2013 9:49:00 PM

So I bought this product because of the rave reviews thinking it would give some oomph to my fine, curly, chest length hair. I wasn't expecting miracles or anything but I also wasn't expecting it to cause my hair to fall out in clumps. While I was using the shampoo I noticed that when I would comb my hair the comb would have a lot more hair in it than normal. I never thought of attributing it to the shampoo until I saw other reviewers mention that they also had experienced above average hair loss. I've stopped using the shampoo and I confirmed that it was the culprit behind my hair falling out in clumps because now it's back to normal, thankfully.
