Toners -Paula's Choice - Skin Recovery Enriched Calming Toner
denaerea 3/9/2013 10:49:00 PM
Just got half way through my first bottle and I definitely see an improvement in my complexion overall. It looks more even in colour and is smoother and well hydrated. I have not tried to use a toner in over 10 years, as my skin is incredibly sensitive and everything I had ever tried in the past really burned and irritated my skin. The feel of this toner is so calming and refreshing. I actually get excited to use it!

Low cost, regular packaging, decent selection of colours, awesome staying power...I love these liners. I have been using them since I was a teen. I have never had a reason to switch!

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Line Express Eyeliner
denaerea 2/12/2013 12:12:00 AM
I usually like Maybelline products but this was a disappointment for me. I bought this in Ebony Black and although the colour was awesome, halfway through the day I realized that I was sporting black smudges under both eyes. The pencil comes with a smudge stick on the opposite end but I didn't like the feel of the rough sponge on my sensitive lids, nor did I understand why it was there in the first place, considering this liner seemed to smudge itself. What can I say, I just didn't like it at all!

Blush -Annabelle - 44 - Rose Fawn
denaerea 2/11/2013 11:57:00 PM
I can't stand any blush with shine, shimmer, sparkle, etc.! My pores have become fairly large and any bit of shimmer just enhances that fact and looks really unatural on my face. I'm also not a fan of creme or mousse blushes. This powder blush has very little sparkle to it at all, and with my cool pink undertones and very fair skin, the colour is perfect for giving me a nice natural rosy look. A little goes a long way with this blush! Not to mention the packaging is cute and compact. Don't underestimate some of the cheaper products out there...sometimes you find a keeper among them! Love this blush!

Powder -New York Color - Smooth Skin Pressed Powder
denaerea 2/11/2013 11:32:00 PM
Although it costs very little and isn't fancy by any means, I like this powder (in translucent) for setting my make-up into place. It's nothing special, but it does the trick. Keeps my face matte for a decent length of time and even when I do need to retouch, I don't feel bad about using more because I haven't spent more than a few dollars on it. I have extremely sensitive skin but haven't had any issues with it. It comes in a regular looking compact case with a mirror and a useless little sponge that I never end up using (a nice big brush works much better). I would recommend this to anyone who just wants a super cheap pressed powder that works...nothing more. Definitely worth every penny!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous in Carbon Black
denaerea 2/11/2013 11:10:00 PM
I just recently bought this mascara and I really love the length it gives my lashes! It's a great consistency and, if applied right, doesn't clump at all. I did a few coats to see just how much my lashes would take before looking spidery...well, as they continued to lengthen, they just looked better and better. However, having said all of that, I am not usually into such big dramatic lash looks for everyday wear (maybe it's my age or maybe i'm just too lazy) and I will only be using Voluminous Carbon Black mascara on special occasions. If it's drama you want, this will definitely deliver! P.S. Make sure you have a REALLY good remover...this stuff doesn't budge!

Concealers -Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Concealer
denaerea 2/11/2013 8:44:00 PM
In my new found quest for the ultimate in drugstore brand products, this concealer can't be beat! I have never cared too much about using one, until noticing lately that the dark circles under my aging eyes were quickly worsening. I took a cue from the rave reviews on this website to give Glamoflauge a shot. I have been using it for 3 days now and besides the not so pretty container, I can say I will be buying this from now on! I bought a shade lighter than my skin tone and it really delivers in all aspects. In spite of it being a little heavy, the coverage itself is amazing, it blends well, hasn't settled into my fine lines, and hasn't irritated my sensitive skin whatsoever. Also, I have been walking around feeling like my eyes are extra bright, putting me in an overall better mood! It doesn't make sense to me that a single product could change my mood so much, but it truly has! I think this tube will be lasting me quite a while too...it seems to only take a "poppy seed" like amount to fully cover what needs to be covered. Two thumbs up!

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
denaerea 2/11/2013 8:14:00 PM
Starting the search for an entirely new combination of products, as my skin is starting to noticeably age and my once "go-to" products aren't cutting it anymore. Having said that, this is THE one product I will not be replacing! I have used this mascara for the past 18 years, ever since I began wearing mascara, and although I have tried others over the years, I keep coming back to it. Maybelline Great Lash stays...everything else goes! I absolutely LOVE this mascara and I'm truly surprised at all of the bad reviews it's received. It's not fancy, but there is a definite reason it has been around as long as it has!

Crème -Cover Girl - Simply Ageless
denaerea 2/11/2013 8:04:00 PM
I am a 32 year old who's just recently decided to care more about the products I am wearing on my face and how they really work for me. In the past 2 weeks I have read an abundance of hints, tips, reviews, etc. Wow, apparently I've gone all these years with absolutely no proper knowledge of the various products and how to apply them! Being inspired by my new found knowledge, I am starting from scratch, hoping to build myself a new mix of cosmetics that I can love for years to come! And because this site has been so helpful to me, I would like to perhaps give a little back as I venture on with my search. On that note, this particular foundation is what you would have found in my make-up bag last week. I had been using this for 2 years, until now. Motivated to find something better, I certainly have! Simply Ageless has a nice texture, decent variety of shades, and looks good in the container, but the crème does dry and crack fairly quickly in the jar (if it's drying in the container, it's drying on your face). Also, compared to what I have been experimenting with lately, it is definitely heavy and hard to blend...especially if you have dry patches. Sometimes I even felt as though I looked somewhat "scaly". It was always mildly irritating on my sensitive skin, but like I said, I never did care a whole lot about it until now. I am starting to get fine lines and crow’s feet around my eyes and this product makes them all the more noticeable. I'm not sure why I used this for as long as I did and thought it was as good as it really isn't. Either way, onto better! I would not recommend this product, especially on aging, sensitive skin!
