I have split-ends as the result of a salon dye disaster. I bought this praying it might help my split-ends. Unfortunately, it didn't. I used it just as instructed, but it made my hair sticky - very, very sticky - and when it dried, my hair was crunchy. End result...hair breakage and more split-ends. Usually I love Joico products, but this just wasn't for me.
I used the Sparkling Amber #63 which is described as light golden brown. Well, I forgot that in the wonderful world of hair dye “golden” is code for “red.” My hair went from my natural medium brown to a very light auburn. It was almost a coppery strawberry blonde. It wasn’t the color I was hoping for, but it was beautiful. Contrary to popular belief Feria IS NOT a metallic dye. It left my hair beautiful and shiny. More lustrous than it has ever been in fact. I received complements from everyone. It was a bit drying, but no more so than other hair dyes, and the conditioner they provided left my hair very. Apart from the roots my hair stayed this same coppery color for six straight weeks. The only problem is that Feria color in my experience is almost impossible to color over. I used Nice & Easy to try and return my hair to its natural color. The dye took but faded back to a slight darker color of copper. If nothing else Feria has staying power! It was also very easy to apply and covered my long hair (about three inches past my shoulders) with just one bottle.
Application wasn't too difficult. The ammonia smell was atrocious! My eyes stung, my lungs burned, it was more pungent that any other hair dye I have ever used. On the upside the color turned out to be exactly as described on the box. It faded after two weeks, but that could be because I used Feria hair color five weeks prior. The color was beautiful but I would never use this product again. My bathroom is too small and the fumes are just terrible. It also fried my hair.
