Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Hada Labo TAMAGOHADA Daily Foaming Wash
rated 2 of 5

Ran out of my usual dermalogica facewash + daily microexfoliant and was quite excited to try this after reading these reviews, however, my experience wasn't quite the same. I have combination skin with oily t zone, and after using it, I felt my skin wasn't as smooth and had broken out with smaller whiteheads. I use this with the Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid Lotion (another review altogether) but I didn't get the result of the clearness that I was hoping for. Been using it for 2 weeks now and will give it another go for 2 more, but will return to dermalogica's exfoliant if I can't see an improvement.

Cleansers -Simple - Cleansing Facial Wipes

Can't say how much I love this to take off the day before I go to bed. Recommended by a makeup artist friend who uses it on shoots after I lamented to her about my breakouts from the change in climate moving from the US to UK, I no longer use water to wash my face before I sleep anymore. I found it too rough initially but I wipe off gently more than once over my face and pull the cloth over my finger to get a thorough finger swipe around the eye and nose area.. Then it worked like a charm. It saves time, money (considering how much I had to spend on cleansers et al to deal with the breakouts) and can be used as a refresher on the go. The packaging could be improved though, it doesn't seal properly and the top sheet dries out.. overall, it's going to be a staple in my life..

Cleansers -La Roche Posay - Effaclar Deep Cleansing Foaming Cream
rated 5 of 5

A great cleanser for the summer if you have oily/combination skin. My pores appear smaller and oiliness is controlled throughout the day. After using it in the shower with my clarisonic mia, my pores are automatically unclogged to the surface and I take my cotton pad and toner to wipe it away effortlessly! It does sting my eyes a bit so I am careful while massaging it into my skin, but it is worth it. A little goes a long way and I am looking forward to trying out the rest of the effaclar series.

Cleansers -Clarins - One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser

My combination skin always goes through a bit of trauma when the seasons change and my cheeks and nose area were peeling pretty bad and the flakiness showed up when I wore makeup. So when the SA at sephora recommended this despite my worries about drying out my skin even further, I was glad to see the results! I tried this with the Hydraquench moisturizer and in 3 days my skin was back to normal, with just a little bit of peeling at the tip of my nose that probably will take a few more days to readjust. It takes off my makeup really efficiently as well. I will definitely buy this again.

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Persagel 10
rated 1 of 5
delllim 9/27/2009 8:05:00 PM

I bought this product after reading the great reviews, unfortunately I didn't have as good an experience as most did, and in fact I didn't read anything here that had the same experience. I was looking for the clear acne treatment gel that Clean & Clear used to have but it seems like they were discontinued. It always worked well for me, treating the zit and the area around it. I have a slightly sensitive complexion and an oily-tzone but relatively clear skin. I used the Persagel to treat what appears to be my occasional zit, and I was breaking out a bit because of the change in weather. I used it on my forehead, cheek and temple for the tiny zits and the places I felt were gonna break out soon. The next day I had small little bumps over the area which had also turned red like it was burned. It itched a bit, and I thought it was the initial reaction and would go away. But it didn't. So I couldn't tell if it treated the zit or not, but the areas looked inflamed. I called C&C but they said they didn't have anyone with my experienced and offered to give me a full refund. I moisturized the areas consistently throughout the day but it still didn't go away. Then i used SKII's facial treatment essence which I hadn't used in a while, but always worked well for me to revive any bad skin reaction, and it has improved overnight. Hopefully it'll go away in a few more days. Basically if you have sensitive skin, you might want to avoid Benzoyl Peroxide altogether.

Primer/ Corrector -Korres - Silicone-Free Face Primer
rated 4 of 5
delllim 5/8/2009 12:04:00 AM

I really like this primer - (i have an oily t-zone, relatively dry cheeks, no acne, relatively small pores.) For 2 weeks now, I put this on in the morning and let it set in with my eye cream for a while before i put on my makeup, and it HAS improved my skin! I didn't have that much expectations for this and i also bought the wild rose foundation from Korres as well. I did feel i've gotten a tad bit shinier than usual at the end of the day, but it's more the Korres foundation than the primer. My skin has been clearer, my skin tone has been more even, and it doesn't clog my skin. I like it WAY better than the Laura Mercier one which i had high hopes on. It smells great too - will definitely repurchase.

Eye Makeup Remover -Kiehls - Supremely Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover
rated 5 of 5
delllim 4/20/2009 10:58:00 PM

My holy grail of eye makeup removers - i've been using this for almost 6 years now, but the first time i'm writing a review for it. Long overdue! Best used with q-tips to get out mascara & shadow, and a cotton pad if my cleanser doesn't feel like its done its job. I'm not a fan of oil-based makeup removers, i have sensitive skin and this doesn't sting, irritate, nor dry out the skin around my eyes. And the bottle lasts a long time!

Treatments -Kerastase - Ciment Thermique
rated 3 of 5
delllim 3/30/2009 8:07:00 PM

Been using this for a little over a week now. Haven't noticed a build-up like other reviewers have, but haven't noticed anything better about my hair either. I have color-treated, very straight, oily-at-roots dry-at-ends, thick-strend hair. I rub in the recommended quantity after a shower and blow dry per usual but i feel it's been more difficult to style and a little more on the oily side. I got it because my hair felt super dry after my usual root-color touch up. I love the smell and i'm a sucker for nice scented hair products so i'll finish the rest of it, but Freddrick Fekkai's Glossing Cream with Olive Oil does a better job and just as wonderful a scent. Plus it's cheaper!

Mascara -Rimmel - Sexy Curves
rated 2 of 5
delllim 3/15/2009 12:01:00 AM

It provides a nice length and curl staying power but it smudges way too easily and i have to check for smears throughout the day. I need to find something just like it but waterproof - why is that so hard!!

Cleansers -Avene - Gentle Gel Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
delllim 3/14/2009 11:58:00 PM

This is a great cleanser that doesn't dry me out and leaves me feeling clean and not stripped. I had a bad reaction to the last one i tried that promised to clean, tone and remove makeup all at once so i wasn't looking for all that, just something gentle. This plus the Hydrance Optimale Riche moisturizer leaves my skin feels pretty supple and comfortable in the winter. Will repurchase.

Cleansers -Vichy - Purete Thermale Demaquillant Integral One Step Cleanser 3in1
rated 1 of 5
delllim 3/14/2009 11:53:00 PM

I was impressed with the general comments and pretty high ratings this product got here in MUA, but it dried me out so bad! I usually have an oily t-zone, even in the winter, but this stripped my skin out so bad, i was peeling! I've never reacted so badly to any skincare product and i'm still not sure what's in it that cause the peeling, but i had to return it, despite the SA's insistance that it's the first time she heard of causing peeling and shouldn't dry my skin out so bad. So i bought the Avene cleanser instead and my skin improved overnight.

Moisturizers -Avene - Rich Hydrating Cream - Hydrance Optimale Riche
rated 5 of 5
delllim 3/14/2009 11:46:00 PM

One of the best moisturizers i've used. It's light yet keeps my skin feeling hydrated. I have sensitive skin, and an oily t-zone but i peel quite badly during the winter. This keeps my skin looking supple without any shine. It could use some SPF then it'll be perfect!

Cleansers -Cosmedicine - Healthy Cleanse Foaming Cleanser and Toner In One
rated 3 of 5
delllim 1/11/2009 5:37:00 PM

The S.A. at Sephora was raving about this when i was searching for a new cleanser. I was looking for something that was gentle (like Boscia's) but thorough (like Bliss Spa's Fabulously Foaming Facewash). After using this for 2 weeks now, i don't feel that it has lived up to its recommendation. It's gentle but i don't feel my skin's as clean after removing my makeup. No breakouts, and great use of the pump but the foam feels too diluted and i have to use more than expected. (SA said it lasted her 6 months and she wears really thick makeup - but i think i'll be done in 3.) Because it doesn't leave my skin feeling too tight during the winter, i'll stick to finishing the rest of the bottle but i won't buy it again.

Moisturizers -Eucerin - Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Sensitive Skin Creme
rated 5 of 5
delllim 1/11/2009 5:27:00 PM

The best moisturizer for the harshest winter conditions - ever! I have moderately sensitive skin and the occasional oily t-zone, but during the winter my nose, cheeks and forehead have flaky dry skin no matter what or how much moisturizer i use. t's even more obvious when i use makeup. But i spread a little of this Eucerin moisturizer all over right after i wash my face or before i sleep, and my makeup goes on amazingly well (together with the SKII essence that i've been using for years now) and i wake up the next morning with my skin feeling plump and moisturized. I'm not a fan of the rich texture or the buttery smell but it keeps my skin supple, and it's so affordable. I suppose i'll have to switch to a lighter moisturizer when it starts getting warmer but until then, this is the best i've had so far.

Eyeliner -Shiseido - The Makeup Eye Liner pencil
rated 4 of 5
delllim 11/21/2008 9:56:00 PM

I had realistic expecations: Pencil eyeliners WILL smudge. So i was looking for an almost effortless application and how much i like how my eyes look after using it. I do like how this pencil is hard yet the application is smooth and precise. Softer pencils smudge way too easily and even though it was hard to allow myself the splurge of $16 for a rather short stick, it only took one week to decide it's worth the money considering i returned the twice-as-long Sephora one at half the price that i had to sharpen every 2 days. This Shiseido pencil wears well on my lower lids too which i love and at the end of the day, no raccoon eyes despite no touching up! Will definitely repurchase.
