I really liked this product at first. It has no silicones, smells decent and is super cheap. For about 3 days my hair looked great but felt a little dry. After that, i was frizzy straw. So not moisturizing. Will not repurchase.

Hair Color -Clairol - Natural Instincts Medium Cool Brown, Clove, 24
rated 4 of 5
deliberateangel 5/4/2013 12:11:00 PM

I am very pleased with this purchase. I am very happy I read Natural Instinct reviews on MUA before I selected a color. Right now, I am growing out permanent color. My roots are about 3 1/2 inches and the ends are orangish as they have been dyed and then not dyed for about a year. My hair dresser told me hair that hasn't been dyed in awhile can oxidize and turn orange or reddish. I had been using henna as I wanted to go as natural as possible and it works well. But it requires $10, or a 20-30 minute drive to a health store or Whole Foods. It's also very time consuming to apply and rinse out and clean up after. My hair is a natural dark brown and the Medium Cool Brown was a *perfect* exact match to my natural hair color. It's very natural and not flat and inky. My hair tends to pull red and that is why I chose a cool/ash color. I almost bought dark brown or ebony mocha and am very glad I didn't. I would have black hair if I did! My advice is to totally ignore the misleading and non-helpful picture on the front of the box. Choose either warm/golden, cool/ash, or just neutral (the shades not listed as either like dark brown, light brown). Then just a whole shade lighter than you think you would need and that should be a pretty good color choice. I was a little disappointed at the amount of color in the box. I have to the top of my shoulders, thick, curly and coarse hair and one box wouldn't cover my whole head. I need two boxes. I don't typically use them gloves that come with hair dye, they are usually bad quality and tear at the seams. I use gloves I purchase separately.I did really like how the formula is a gel. It didn't drip and was easy to apply. Even easier than a creme in my opinion. I applied with a brush and mixed in a plastic bowl. Ten minutes was a good time but with my hair's coarseness I think 15 minutes is better. For the ladies complaining about uneven color, their hair turning way too dark or their roots different color than the ends, I used to have those problems. That was back when I dyed my hair a lot. The dye can strip your hair, make it porous, damage it and that is why it colors unevenly or too dark. There isn't much you can really do as far as I know besides using a neutral protein filler before you color or by adding it to your hair color. Also, for newbie's, semi permanents only add tones and can darken slightly. They will not lighten your hair shades.

Liquid -E.L.F. - Flawless Finish Foundation
rated 2 of 5

I was really pleasantly surprised by this product. It took me forever to get the lid off, to me it looked like a screw on cap and pour bottle. To my surprise, it's a pull off cap and pump bottle. The color selection is limited and the colors tend to run light. A Sand color is typically 3 shades darker than what I would normally wear in any other brand like L'Oreal. I tried the product on my hand in the store. I know that is frowned upon but I hate returning things and Sand was a perfect match to my lightly tanned pale olive skin. The formula is fairly thick and went on creamy and is medium coverage. I think you could build to full coverage and add powder to set it. The coverage was very even and it's very easy to blend as it doesn't set for 2-3 minutes. I have read this is a dupe for a MAC foundation but I don't use MAC. It has a semi matte finish but still looks a little dewey and luminous. It's better than way more expensive that I have bought, both at the drug and department store. I have very dry, sensitive skin and this works really well. That being said, I wouldn't recommend this if you have oily skin. EDIT: I would also not recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin. My skin is and after 2 days of all day use, my skin was very irritated. I had red spots and a burning feeling. Such a shame because it's great otherwise.

Gels/Soaps -Dr. Bronner's - Baby-Mild Unscented Liquid Soap
rated 1 of 5
deliberateangel 5/3/2013 8:22:00 PM

My husband enjoys the scented Dr. Bronner soaps and likes that they are all natural. He convinced me to try the unscented baby version. I have really dry, sensitive skin and religiously use Dove soap. This was extremely drying and irritated my skin. After a few uses my skin had visible flaky dry and scaly looking rough patches. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone with a baby or sensitive skin.

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Hannah Natural - Henna in Black
rated 1 of 5
deliberateangel 4/10/2013 11:01:00 PM

I picked this up at India Cash N' Carry for around $4 a box. I was thinking that since Henna is used in the middle east, they would have the best stuff. But, I was totally wrong and this was horrible. I mixed this up and let it set the same way I do all henna. I did notice it hardly smelled and was very finely ground. I left on overnight and rinsed. It rinsed very easily which is odd for henna. I didn't notice any color change. I usually can see one with black henna. Afterwards, my hair was poofy, my curls were not defined and was dry and would respond to my usual hair products. I tried a second box a few weeks later and this just made it worse. I ended up using a clarifying shampoo, deep conditioning my hair and going back to my old henna. My hair is now back to how I like. Dark brown, curly, shiny, soft and my curls are defined. I am not sure what was wrong with this henna but I don't recommend.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - La bella - Lots of Curls Extra Hold Styling Gel
rated 1 of 5
deliberateangel 3/29/2013 9:43:00 PM

I was really disappointed in this. After many tries, I have deemed this useless. It made my hair dry, hard, dull, limp and dirty looking. It in no way defined my curls or enhanced them. I tried using a lot, a little, mixing with conditioner and oils and using by itself.. It doesn't mix well with other products. It turns clumps up and is hard to apply. The only pro's are that it's cheap, easy to find and smells pleasant like candy.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Mountain Rose Herbs-Unrefined Organic Shea Butter
rated 5 of 5
deliberateangel 2/24/2013 12:01:00 PM

I love this product. I use it on my skin and hair. I apply it at night to my super dry spots like hands, feet and elbows. I also apply to my face and the skin has visibly improved in 2 weeks. It looks tighter and moisturized and the little lines are going away. It helps my hands, the cuticles aren't dry and cracking anymore. For my hair a very, very small amount is used. I apply them shampoo or conditioner wash and wait 12-24 hours. After I have washed, my hair is smooth, shiny and the curls are defined and springy. The texture is hard and grainy. I use a Popsicle stick to get it out of the tub and put a small amount between two hands and rub to emulsify. It does have a very natural, nutty smell which isn't too strong for me and fades.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
rated 3 of 5
deliberateangel 2/24/2013 11:27:00 AM

I used to use this product a lot. I have very dry and sensitive skin and this caused no irritation. However, my makeup slid off easily with this under it and over time, it caused little white bumps all over my face. I think they were whiteheads and I have only gotten them using Clinique foundations and lotions. This is one of the reasons I don't use their products anymore. That and they changed my favorite foundations. This is a heavier lotion and can feel a little heavy. This is probably better suited for older, dry skin.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational Lipstick - Warm Me Up
rated 3 of 5
deliberateangel 2/4/2013 10:02:00 PM

I like the formula. It's creamy and lasts. I didn't detect a smell either But this color looked like a nice pinkish brown neutral on my hand at the store. But on my lips, it was odd and unflattering. It was a slightly brownish pinkish color with a whitish and purple undertone. It was just an odd, kind of this color and that color shade. It did not look right on me but I imagine it would look good on the right skin tone.

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Surya Henna Cream
rated 5 of 5
deliberateangel 1/26/2013 6:04:00 PM

I love henna but don't always have the time for the whole process. I bought this on a whim after reading some good reviews. I bought black for my dark brown hair. I wanted to keep the color even and add shine. I also find henna helps my curls stay curly, it doesn't loosen them but the opposite. The cream smells like Egyptian Musk perfume and is very syrupy. I didn't care for the small bottle and little nozzle. The first time I applied using the little bottle and my hair and used 1 1/2 bottles. The results were also too intense. I found it's easier to put in a mixing bowl and apply with a brush. If I recall this is how the directions do not recommend, which makes sense. It would allow you to control the application more and use less product, therefore buying less. The cream was easy to apply. I put the given plastic cap on and then a fabric cap. I left it on for 3-4 hours and I have very coarse hair. It came out very dark and intense. The next time I used it, I used 3/4ths of one bottle and mixed with hair conditioner and olive oil. This left a much more natural result. In my opinion, this stuff is rather concentrated. I really do like this and think I will switch to just using this. It's so much easier to use than the powdered henna. The results lasted without fading for about a month. It slightly started fading then so I reapplied. It really does have great staying power. I also can say the color just went away, it didn't fade to red or orange. The only cons I can think of are the weird little bottle, slightly high price and that it bleeds the color for about two weeks. After I would co-wash my hair, I would see some color in the shower water and it did stain my towels some. The pro's totally outweigh the cons as the ease of use, great scent, easy to find at most health food stores and Whole Foods, the results and benefits of using henna.

Lipstick -Clinique - Butter Shine Lipstick - Pink Goddess
rated 4 of 5
deliberateangel 1/26/2013 12:40:00 PM

I love this lipstick. It's like a rich buttery balm. It's a demi sheer pink color. It's glossy and shiny. It doesn't have great staying power but one wouldn't expect such a formula too. Totally awesome and the packaging is pretty and sturdy.

Liquid -Maybelline - Super Stay Makeup
rated 2 of 5
deliberateangel 1/26/2013 1:04:00 AM

At first, I thought this product was awesome. But as I worked through the bottle, my skin became worse and worse. I have very dry, sensitive skin that RARELY ever breaks out with a single pimple. Within two weeks, my skin became bumpy looking and I kept getting pimples. My skin started looking terrible. The foundation also kept oxidizing and would wear off within 6 hours, so touch ups were necessary. The first applications went well but as I used more and more, that makeup became weirder. It would oxidize fast and would wear off fast. I am not sure why, I thought maybe the ingredients separating but I always shake bottles before use. I have gone back to a non-long wearing foundation that offers skin repair benefits.

Foundations -Cover Girl - Advanced Radiance Age-Defying Makeup
rated 1 of 5
deliberateangel 1/26/2013 12:33:00 AM

I did not like this product. I am not a big fan of Cover Girl but after reading all the great reviews for this product, I had to try it. The colors were very pink and none came close to matching my fair, olive skin. This is pretty typical of CV to me. I have never found a shade that came close to matching my skin. The shades lean toward chalky and pink. The closest was an Ivory shade and it was too pale and gave my skin an ashy looking cast. The formula was thick and went on nicely but set to a dull sheen. It also made my face look bumpy. Perhaps it filled in my pores like Bondo. I don't have any bumps on my face. I am also no a fan of the cloying scent that was a bit lemon with a hint of green tea scent. The only redeeming features of this product were the pump top and the moderate to full coverage. I would not buy this product as I don't want to look like I am wearing an colored bumpy mask on my face. I also would not recommend this product.

Foundations -Boots - No7 True Identity Foundation
rated 1 of 5
deliberateangel 1/24/2013 11:25:00 PM

I went onto the Boots website and this was the recommended formula for my dry, sensitive skin. I was very surprised when I went to Target and opened the tester. The Light shade appeared very dark. I squirted some on my hand and it appeared very dark and orange. The texture was very dry and mousse-like. I tried blending it in and it just disappeared into my skin, leaving a faint chalky residue in my cracks in my skin (lines in my skin pattern). There is no coverage at all and no sort of finish. This didn't feel moisturizing at all. I didn't like this at all, wouldn't recommend for dry skin and wouldn't buy this.

Lipstick -Ulta - Chocolate Kiss 230 (cr) lipstick
rated 4 of 5
deliberateangel 1/20/2013 10:02:00 PM

I love, love, love this lipstick color. It's a sheer burgundy brown. The texture is very smooth and shiny. My only complaints are is that the lipstick can become melted in the heat or smashed down with repeated applications. It's then hard to apply and requires a lipstick brush. This color doesn't have the best wear time. It's similar to a lip gloss. It comes off fairly easy if you eat, kiss or such, This color works really well with my coloring. It's suitable for special occasions and daily use.
