Conditioner -Matrix - Biolage Color Care Conditioner
debdee 3/5/2013 8:20:00 PM
Since using this product, the shine and luster has been restored to my hair. I've tried many conditioners and didn't notice that one was particularly better than the other until I tried this one. I pair it with the Biolage Moisturizing Shampoo and I will definitely purchase both products again.

Styling Products -Nexxus - Frizz Defy Styling Creme

I have been using the Frizz Defy Frizz Protection, which is an oil based product with coconut extract. It does what the label says it will - it shines and tames frizzy hair. I spray the ends of my hair before curling it with hot rollers or blowing it out with a hair dryer. It works as a hot oil treatment, smoothes the hair and gives it a bit of sheen. It has a light tropical fragrance. A bottle lasts a really long time because a small amount goes a long way.

Treatments -Matrix - Biolage - Smoothing Shine Milk
debdee 2/10/2013 12:37:00 PM
I routinely use Matrix Biolage conditioner and shampoo, so I purchased this without hesitation and was very disappointed. Yes, it effectively smoothed my hair, but it definitely did not add sheen or shine to my hair. I expected it to do both because the product name is Smoothing Shine Milk.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Retin A
debdee 12/28/2012 4:00:00 PM
I have used Retin A for nearly 30 years. The key to its usage is learning which strength, what amount and frequency of application is best for your skin type. If you have burning and redness from using Retin A, you probably used too high a strength, and/or used too much product too soon, without gradually introducing it to your face. Initially, apply the cream very lightly without rubbing it in and use it sparingly on areas of your face other than around the eyes, which is where the skin is thin and sensitive. Eventually, apply lightly around the eyes once a week. If the eye area can tolerate it, try applying it twice a week. Always remember that rubbing the cream into your skin will increase the chance of irritation. Apply with a very, very light touch. If you experience burning, you should temporarily stop all usage, then try again. Caution is required during cold, dry weather. During the winter, I apply the lightest strength around my eyes, and use a higher strength on my forehead where the skin is less sensitive. When it's exceptionally dry, I use less product and sometimes have to stop completely for a few weeks. During warm, humid weather, I can readily tolerate a higher strength at regular intervals. It requires some experimenting to determine what amount will give you a smooth skin texture, without burning and redness. One thing to remember about Retin A - it does not require daily applications to be effective. Your skin may not be able to tolerate more than two applications a week. In between applications, you may want to try an over-the-counter strength retinol. However, if you overdo any retinols, you will have redness, burning and irritation. If applied lightly and sparingly, you will have smooth, natural looking skin.

Concealers -Olay - Regenerist Touch of Concealer
debdee 12/28/2012 3:43:00 PM
I have very slight, minimal dark circles under my eyes and this concealer does not conceal them, which is why I gave the product a 3 rating. I do like the creamy smooth application. If I apply the product under my eyes, and then lightly apply a cover stick, the result is adequate coverage with a smooth finish. If I use a concealer stick alone, it settles into my fine lines and accentuates them. By applying the Olay product first, the end result is smooth coverage that requires only one touch up during the day.

Skincare - Face -Avon - Dramatic Firming Cream
debdee 12/28/2012 3:29:00 PM
My 81 year old mother was recently hospitalized for several weeks, and during her convalescence, I noticed her skin appeared smoother. Then one evening when I was visiting her she showed me a jar of this cream, and asked me if I could find out where to purchase it. Turns out that several days earlier, her hospital roomate had given her a jar of this product to use as a moisturizer because the hospital air was so dry. At that point I realized that I wasn't just seeing things, she had been using a new product on her skin and it showed. I have since started using this cream as a moisturizer under my make up. It is non-greasy and helps with the flaking that comes with dry winter weather. I have been a Retin A devotee for many years and find that this cream offsets the dryness associated with Retin A use.

Treatments -Elizabeth Arden - Eight Hour Cream
debdee 12/19/2012 10:22:00 PM
I love this product for my lips, it effectively moisturizes without burning or irritating them. I've tried numerous balms but always experience an adverse reaction. This product works well and lasts about two hours before another application is needed. The only reason I gave it a four rating instead of a five it is the smell of the product - it is fragrance free, however it has the slight smell of petroleum.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Visibly Even Foaming Cleanser
debdee 12/19/2012 9:56:00 PM
I am now using my second tube of this cleaner and I love it. It has a light fragrance, is more creamy than foamy. I did not break out in little red bumps like I usually do with cream type cleansers. I put a nickel size dollop on a washcloth and gently cleanse in a circular motion, then rinse. It leaves my skin feeling soft and free of irritations. I would recommend using this product at any time, but especially during the dry, winter months.

Treatments -Serious Skin Care - Firm-A-Face
debdee 3/19/2012 10:35:00 PM
When I applied this product to my face, it had the effect of superglue on my skin. It tightened my face so tight it looked extremely unnatural. After a few minutes, it turned into a white, chalk-like film which splashed off easily with water, however it left my skin extremely dry, red and irritated.

Lip Treatments -Olay - Regenerist Anti-Aging Lip Treatment
debdee 3/16/2012 7:57:00 AM
This product definitely provides temporary smoothing of my vertical lip lines. It is colorless and creamy, with mild tingling the first few times I used it. I apply the product underneath my lipstick. The temporary result is slightly smoother looking lips. When I apply lipstick alone, my vertical lines are accentuated. With this product underneath the lipstick, the lines become minimized. I reapply it a few times a day and like the rich moisturizing consistency of the product, it isn't gooey, shiny or waxy. The tube doesn't contain a lot of product, but I maximize its usage by using a lip brush to get the last bit out of the container.
