I thought I might as well give it a go ha Will Ferrell from blades of glory any one?! I have thin, highlighted hair but lots of it. It weighed my hair down like nothing else I have used before!! The conditioner is better but so runny, I like thick creamy conditioners. I didn't use these for longer then a week - back to kerastase I think I will leave this for the horses...
Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher mascara
dearlynars 2/12/2013 2:45:00 PM
I am not really blown away by this one! It does do a great job at separating the lashes, but thats about it. I don't see much lengthening and there is little to no added volume. It is defiantly not the worst mascara I have tried, it is good natural daytime mascara. It lacks that oomph factor.
Brows -MAC - Fluidline Brow Gelcreme in Dirty Blonde
dearlynars 2/4/2013 7:39:00 PM
Why is this LE?! I am in love this stuff, it knocks every other brow product on the market out cold. Easily. It is simple to use, looks 100% natural and the colour matches my brows perfectly. I have never been happier with a brow product. I am in the colour dirty blonde and was eying it off on the website and one night saw it had just been restocked, I got 3! The next morning I looked again and it had sold out. :( You get so much product and the price is very reasonable at $15 US. Fingers crossed they add these to their permanent line... it could be one of their biggest sellers!
Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Colour Caresse Shine Stain / Shine Caresse
dearlynars 2/2/2013 8:36:00 PM
I can't really find anything positive to say. I was excited that there was a drugstore alternative to YSL glossy stains and I have been disappointed. I thought considering they are the same company they must have similarities! Nope, They feel horrible - the nicest thing about them is the packaging. The colours I have are pink resistance (super sheer) and infinite fuchsia (travels to corners of your mouth). Avoid!!!
Eye Shadow -Maybelline - COLOR TATTOO barely beige
dearlynars 2/1/2013 1:29:00 PM
Is it amazing? Not really - I have found the colour pay-off so sheer and it has nowhere near the staying power as my much loved bad to the bronze. The shimmer effect when it has been on you skin for about a min disappears and the bigger glitter particles remain and look cheap and nasty. Also there are glitter clumps in it!? It does not apply smoothly with finger or brush looking scary in the daylight.
The sales lady talked me into this when I purchased a clinique lotion. The formula is extremely wet and there is so much product on the brush that it clumps instantly and is near impossible to correct - my top and bottom lashes stuck together and dried. Looks nasty! How can this be their 'best seller'?! If you completely remove product from the brush head you can get an alright lengthening effect - but then again so would every mascara on the market probably. I will most likely never try another clinique mascara again. Avoid! Better off with LM full blown volume - been my fav for a long time.
Wanted to love this product! Following correct procedure, it certainly does give the skin a glow. But I broke out with tiny whiteheads all over my nose area the next day. I have tried it out a few times since all with the same results. I never break out from beauty products! Guess there is just something in it my skin doesn't agree with. Be sure to let the Clarins MA tell you how best to use it, it isn't as simple as smothering it onto your face and rubbing!
Great product! Rinsing this mask out is like petting a puppy, silky softness overload!! haha. Anyway to the point, it is an effective mask, but with a 'luxurious' price tag. Maybe a cheaper natural alternative may be simply jojoba oil as overnight treatment, my hair feels softer and less frizzy when I shampoo it out the next morning, similar to the results from using the Kerastase mask. I use to obey the instructions, until I found I didn't have time for 2 showers and was using the product less frequently. Instead, I now shampoo normally in the shower then apply the treatment and shower cap it for as long as I can, usually 5 to 10 mins doing other things like cleansing/shaving then rinse, same great results as obeying instructions.
Not dirt cheap in Australia - then again what is?! Dove soap has been in my families bathroom, and now my own, for years. It is a good product, I like the exfoliating one over the original, it is mild enough for everyday use. I would not say it is moisturising, but it certainly doesn't strip your skin of natural moisturisers and oils like regular soaps do.
Polishes -L'Oreal - Color riche, 602 Perle De Jade
dearlynars 9/21/2012 6:46:00 AM
Such a pretty mint green!! Here in Australia it is coming into summer and this is a shade I know I will be buying again! Yes, you don't get much product (5 ml), other brands are usually around 15ml but I always find you never reach the bottom of bottles before it turns into a semi-liquid mess and you have to throw it away anyway (boo OPI)! So I don't mind paying less for less, when it comes to nail polishes at least. I love the brush design, it fits my nail size exactly, creating a flawless look. It took me all of 5 mins to do 3 coats and a top coat. For reference I use Butter London's nail foundation basecoat and Butter London's Heardwear topcoat. I love it.
Eyeliner -MAC - Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Stubborn Brown
dearlynars 9/6/2012 12:33:00 AM
Super creamy and pigmented, this pencil is a must for every makeup kit! I rarely use black liner, I find brown to be much more subtle and flattering but can still be built it up for an intense look.
Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter - 080 Strawberry Shortcake
dearlynars 8/29/2012 11:32:00 PM
Nice colour, not amazing pay-off but still decent-ish. You need to have very moisturised lips. Not crazily flattering to my skin tone, personally speaking (NW20), but I like the formula and look forward to trying some other shades.
Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula
dearlynars 8/8/2012 7:52:00 AM
I discovered this product by accident by smelling it on a friend. I was surprised to read that people don’t like the smell, I’m obsessed! I love howthe smell lingers on the skin even though the product itself is soaked in. I saw they make an unscented version too so maybe try that if you are not a big one for scents in beauty products. Living in AUS this is a great buy $$ wise, it has replaced my Body Shop brazil nut body butter which has been my staple since I started using beauty products, around 6 or 7 years ago. I can’t wait to use it in the summer it will make my tan look great! If you are like me and have always shied away from Palmer’s, maybe because of the unappealing packaging (yes, I know, slap on the wrists judgmental consumer me) then you may be pleasantly surprised and save a few dollars too.
I love this. Never been a big Maybelline girl but this is a great little treasure. So beautiful for everyday looks or something special. I have hooded eyes and I just apply and blend out with a matte brown like MAC wedge and blend out some dark brown or black to the outer corners of my eyes. So simple but beautiful. Also looks good with Suspect, from UD Naked2 palette on top. Here in Aus they are about $10 and I think thats great I want to stock up!
I found this product set into my fine lines and made me look like I have wrinkles I had never noticed before (I'm 20?!). Also I cringe looking at the foul ingredients list and have decided there was probably nothing in it that was actually beneficial to my sensitive eye area so I'll pass on using this item again. The coverage wasn't flash, I don't really understand the hype, the item it seemed to make no difference honestly. I would have to say you are far better off investing in an effective moisturising eye cream and using say Bobbi Brown corrector or just a good concealer that works for you.
